Relationships on MTV's The Hills are unpredictable, to say the least. So, after having been on the show for five seasons, Audrina Patridge threw on a pair of angel wings and took her dog, Speedy Gonzalez, to pose in PETA's latest Angels for Animals ad. After all, a dog's love is absolute. They're never so fickle that they'd turn their back on you anytime some new guy walks into the room.

The ad was unveiled on a billboard in West Hollywood today, and Audrina was there to let people know that they should always adopt and never buy—because for every dog or cat bought from a breeder or pet shop, a shelter animal full of unconditional love will die.

As a lifelong vegetarian, Jake Shields is no stranger to sticking up for the little guys. Maybe that's why the XC welterweight champion agreed to appear in a recent episode of MTV's Bully Beatdown, a show that puts teenage bullies in the ring with professional fighters to give them a taste of how miserable it feels to be the underdog.

In an interview with our friends at The Discerning Brute, Jake said, "Well I'm a life-long vegetarian and the diet obviously works. I also have two brothers that are strong and healthy. But you do have to have a good balanced diet and eat healthy foods. There's plenty of ways to get protein other than eating meat."

Awesome athletes like Jake and his fellow fighter Mac Danzig are evidence that not only is a vegetarian diet a possible diet for athletes, it might even be the best diet.

At last night's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), the red carpet was alive with its usual stylish, unique, and unforgettable entrances.

Some performers arrived making a positive statement, like Paramore, who arrived in earth-friendly Smart Cars. However, rapper T-Pain chose an opposite (aka cruel) route and arrived via elephant. Yes, elephant—all the while donning a ridiculous red top hat and tuxedo jacket and surrounded by a brigade of bizarre circus performers. Hmm … forget a statement for change—that's a statement of cruelty.

Fortunately, Paramore weren't the only artists who created buzz without exploiting animals. Tokio Hotel's monster truck and Young Jeezy's presidential motorcade were other notable choices of transport.

If you're one of the many people who contacted us regarding T-Pain's terrible entrance choice last night, you'll be happy to know that PETA has written a letter to T-Pain explaining why his stunt was (perhaps unintentionally) cruel and asking him to refrain from using animals in his acts in the future.

I’m going to shut up and let the man speak for himself here in a sec, but I feel like I need to admit that I spent pretty much my entire adolescence in a constant state of anticipation about what John Norris, Kennedy, Duff, or Jon Stewart (different incarnation) were going to say next on the popular music channel “MTV”. John is busy informing a whole new generation on MTV News, but he also took some time recently to talk to my star-struck friend Nicole Nuss about (among other things), why he doesn’t eat stuff made out of animals. The whole thing is just too cool for words.

Much as it pains me to pamper the egos of those too-cool-for-school scene queens over at peta2, I was really impressed with this interview that my friend Dan (who runs the show in PETA’s Youth Outreach division) just did with MTV Canada. I’ve been trying to get on MTV since I dreamed of auditioning for MTV’s The Grind in the early '90s (if you haven’t heard of that show, don’t worry about it. You’re better off.), but it looks like I’m going to have to settle for living vicariously through Dan’s achievement. Watch how he reels off hip bands like he’s Carson Daly or something.
