Laughing lion
Inspired by the recent release of Carol Leifer's vegetarian testimonials, here are the 10 most knee-slapping, gut-busting, laugh-til-you-cry PSAs that PETA has to offer:

  1. Musician Kevin Eubanks—former World's Sexiest Vegetarian—is as sweet as strawberries.
  2. The king of improv, Fred Willard, struggles to name our spay-and-neuter campaign.
  3. Jewish, lesbian, or vegan? Comedic genius Carol Leifer is all three. Watch her gush about the pluses of a vegetarian diet.
  4. Legendary tennis champ John McEnroe shows his awesome sense of humor—and the importance of spaying and neutering.
  5. See "Brad Pitt" star in funnyman Kevin Nealon's veggie testimonial.
  6. Our scorching veggie vixens have a fetish for broccoli in "Veggie Love." Are you laughing or just blushing?
  7. A zucchini gets an "X" rating? It's hard to believe—until you see our "Sexy Sausage" ad.
  8. Phew! See what really stinks in PETA's "Litterbox" ad.
  9. Sex and the City's saucy Samantha Jones, played by Kim Catrall, seems like a meek kitten compared to the stars of "Sex and the Kitty."
  10. Our "Milk Gone Wild" ad was nixed from the lineup of Super Bowl ads. I suspect network executives didn't want breast-fixated male viewers to stress about their own milk-induced "doobs" (that's short for "dude boobs").

I admit that the order of this list was subjective, so why don't you leave a comment to tell us which PETA PSA you think is the funniest?

Metro Card
If you're a New Yorker, you've definitely heard about the fare hikes and service cuts that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) just approved in their 2009 budget. You may have also heard about the man arrested for attempting to mimic the Bush shoe-throwing incident with MTA chief Elliot Sander as a target. People aren't happy about the changes, and that's why PETA is ready to step in and offer our services—no shoes necessary! We propose that the MTA begin advertising over the loudspeakers between subway stops, and we'll even be the first customers. PETA's ads would feature the voices of pro-vegetarian advocates Casey Affleck, Kevin Nealon, and Forrest Whitaker.

Listen to the three PSA's now:
Forest Whitaker
Casey Affleck
Kevin Nealon

Casey Affleck's testimonial on why he's a vegetarian would be the perfect way to increase revenue for the MTA! I know I'd like to hear the voice of a sexy vegetarian like Casey on my morning commute. And hey, it might even encourage them to do something about the speaker quality while they're at it. Can anyone actually understand what they're saying?

Side note: Research shows that vegetarians actually have stronger immune systems than meat eaters, which is always a plus when you're smushed into a little subway car with a hundred coughing strangers. Hopefully, the MTA will consider our offer, for the sake of animals, commuters, and the $2 MetroCard.

Our good friend Kevin Nealon shared his own unique recipe for a vegetarian Thanksgiving feast with us during a PETA Thanksgiving event at Jorja Fox’s house last year. I think Kevin’s brilliant Thanksgiving Wad idea has the potential to be a long-lasting tradition that will forever leave its mark on the holiday. So share it with your friends. And for less adventurous (or more practical) folks, we’ve got a ton of great Thanksgiving recipes here.

I didn't invent the iconic and timeless Saturday Night Live character Mr. Subliminal. I am not the rich and famous star of the Showtime series Weeds. And I'm not the guardian of millions of pet fish. But Kevin Nealon is all of these things, and he’s also the star of this hilarious new "veggie testimonial" video.

And make sure to watch Kevin's interview here as well. It's frikkin hilarious.

Kevin_Nealon.jpgWe caught up with Weeds star Kevin Nealon last week to shoot a little PSA in our veggie testimonial series, in which vegetarian celebrities talk about what got them to make the switch to a meatless diet. At the end of the shoot, Kevin wanted to take a few moments to talk about the ridiculous kangaroo-leather bill—SB 880—that's ominously making its way through the legislature in his home state of California. He also took the opportunity to finally speak openly about his deep-seated fears about driving in reverse. If you're from California, and you share Kevin's distaste for anti-kangaroo legislation, you can take action here. If you also share his phobia about driving backwards, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do to help you.
