As a member of PETA, I want to remind you that there are conservative vegans. I know, I am one and know many.
On the whole, in the USA, "gay marriage" is not in and those that are vegan conservatives believe in traditional marriage. With that said, I believe that civil rights for all should be protected and that includes conservative vegans. Conservative vegans are an even smaller minority.

Go vegan it is a moral imperative!

And yes, it does seem like werewolves are gaining popularity. They're even adding werewolves as playable characters in World of Warcraft.

@AAG: "I believe that civil rights for all should be protected." You can actually say that with a straight face after your previous sentence states your anti-gay marriage position? Perhaps you should have said "Civil rights for all should be protected, with the exception of homosexuals." Because marrying whom one chooses actually IS -- and someday will be for all -- a civil right. It's such a shame when those who have compassion for animals can't extend the same to people.

Just to be clear, Conservative political theory in the U.S. (and E.U.) put is opposed to animal-rights (including humans and the right to marry same sex partners, for example) more than its competitor (the Liberal one). It puts economic-sucess before the welfare of individuals and favours tradition more. Hurray for social-progression!

-and just for the record, gay-marriage doesn't remove anyone's rights (e.g. it doesn't take away the rights of Conservatives who oppose it anymore than inter-racial marriage removes rights from Conservatives opposed to it). Thank you.

As usaul, its amusing to see the few "im just trying veg or vegan living because I saw it on Oprah!!!" types weigh in on something bigger where their clearly bigoted and prejudiced selves can come out and shine...what? You dont believe in oppressing animals, but you have no problem saying your neighbor, your brother, your sister, your co-worker shouldnt be allowed to get married and be in love like you are in your holier than thou life? How does it feel to say you deserve love and marriage and gays dont? Forget you....real vegans are against oppression of ALL opressed beings...we dont need you....go away, hatemongers.

Personally, I cannot wait to see history books in 20 years. Children are going to study the Gay Rights Movement, and be appalled that we did not extend civil rights to all humans, even into the 21st century. I'm going to look at every conservative and say "I told you so" because their actions are just as childish.

In response to AAG and Laura, I wonder how you would feel about me. I'm a guy; I have a boyfriend. I intend to adopt children and raise them vegan. I wouldn't want to adopt them alone, because then if anything happened to me, they would have a very dubious future. I wouldn't adopt unless I were granted a marriage, because with civil unions in such dispute, it seems irresponsible to count on protection under their category of substandard citizenry for anything.

Marriage, as it stands, is a contract between two consensual adults, or minors with permission from parents. If the Church, or just your own narrow church, wants to deny marriage, fine. But there should be no reason for the government to deny my marriage. The only basis for such discrimination comes from religions and irrelevant opinions. Neither of which have any place in determining the validity of a contract. I'm sure with your attitudes no gay couple would want you at their wedding, so you probably don't even need to worry about being invited to any.

Don't make yourself the victims, claiming it goes against your civil rights to allow other people theirs. That's nonsense.
