In the wake of the recent release of our undercover investigation exposing cruelty and suffering inside animal labs at the University of Utah, students, local PETA supporters, and members of Salt Lake Animal Advocacy Movement gathered outside the university's Park Building yesterday and urged the swarm of spectators to help put an end to the cruelty committed against the dogs, cats, and other animals confined to the University's labs.

University of Utah

The demonstrators weren't just humans—some adorable companion animals campaigned for the cause too. Together, they collected signatures for a petition to scrap the law that requires government-run shelters to make homeless animals—even those who are friendly, trained, and adoptable—available to universities and private labs for experimentation and testing. How could you not put your name to something these guys are supporting:

Join the effort and urge the University of Utah to stop abusing shelter animals in its labs immediately.

Nice to see some animal advocates in Utah. The State is not very progressive in reference to having reverence for God's animal creation.

I wish I could have been there to protest.

We need to get Robert out of there right away! Isn't there something that we could do to save him?? I would be willing to adopt him if I could! FREE ROBERT!

Why don't you guys show the entire footage - unedited - so we can see all the testing going on with the animals? That way, we're better informed so we can stop the cruelty.

Robert looks so much like my Tigger. It breaks my heart that he is still being tortured in that horrible laboratory. How could anyone do such horrible things to him and those poor other animals?

Posted by: Kim | November 19, 2009 03:16 PM

Poor Robert! He's adorable and he looks like my Sammie! I wish I could have been at that protest but I'm still in junior high and I don't live near Utah!

Peta seriously needs to stop crying about this stuff. dogs and cats a can understand, but rats? and mice? that turn gay when over popullated? you guys are god damned ridiculous. you just want something to cry about

I wish I were there :( I have tremendous respect for people who take time out of their lives to teach others about the importance of animal welfare and the cruelty of certain people. It's something you can look back on and be proud of. P.S. Those two dogs look so inspiring (with their little jackets and signs) lol ;)

Do I agree with animal testing? NO! Do I think it is completely wrong and cruel? YES! But do I believe people should be allowed to eat animals? Yes. Animals are not tortured and then eatin. They are killed quickly and painlessly. Now torturing animals is a compeletly different story!

Leah who posted 19 November - you find justification by inferring homosexuality as basis for what these beings endure? In that instance, your atrocious spelling bears witness to your ignorance . - .
