Sharon McDonough has been accused of running what her son calls "a concentration camp for animals" after officials found the bodies of 20 dogs buried in her backyard in Selden, New York, and discovered six living animals (who were reportedly confined to soiled cages) inside her house. McDonough allegedly forced her children to commit nightmarish acts of cruelty, including restraining a dog and duct-taping his mouth shut while she beat the animal. McDonough was arrested, and her six children have been taken into protective custody. Dozens of neighbors remain worried that their missing companion animals will soon be found inside the shallow graves of McDonough's backyard.
In the wake of this ghastly discovery, we're sending our PSA featuring Eli Roth to TV stations in the New York City area to warn viewers about the vicious cycle of violence that often begins with animal abuse and, as research has proved, often ends with violence against humans:

I've got to say that this is one of the most disturbing things I have heard... I just don't see how any one can get pleasure out of torturing poor defenseless animals! They're are like little children, and they have feelings and cry just like every other living thing out there! Reading stories like this make me sick and just like humans I don't feel that animals should be treated like they are nothing!

We all have to get involved. They can't speak for themselves. They need us to speak for them.

Shocking... Truely shocking...
What would drive someone to do that!? and then make their kids join in... Urgh... I feel sick...

It's too sad! Those poor helpless animals. Those poor children, to be exosed to such a monster of a mom, and to be forced to hurt animals! The neighbors were probably hoping their beloved pets had been found and taken in by well-meaning neighbors. What a nightmare.

I am glad to hear that she was arrested, she will no longer be allowed to hurt animals again..

I think it's apropros for this vicious woman to be used in a painful research lab. She can experience pain for the betterment of research to help humanity.

I would like to know when we as a nation are going to protect our furkids and severely punish any scum who would intentionally harm an animal. Cindy Haas

OMG! OMG! how come monsters like this exist?! how can people be so cruel?! poor animals! such innocent beings, without defence :( it's just horrible what some people are capable of!

The issue here is that the law needs to come down hard on sickos like this. Too many times animal abusers get a slap on the wrist and let back into society. This women is a sick individual - how I'd love to get her alone........

Why do they bully the poor defenceless animals? all they need is love and care.

Since what she did to the animals won't be considered a 'serious offense' is anyone
making sure she gets charged with child abuse?? The emotional damage has to be horrendous.

The Court appointed attorney for murderess Sharon McDonough, James d'Angelo was quoted in The Journal News as stating that hers was a "low level offense"!
I have called his office a couple of times to register my disgust at his comments and ask that you all call also. He can be reached at 800-269-8876. Such a cavalier attitude towards the murder of these innocent animals. Hopefully, groups on Long Island will work together to ensure she gets what is coming to her!! Bravo to her eldest son for having the decency to turn her in,
PETA we need you to step into this fray - your name carries a lot of weight.

Perhaps the younger kids had no choice but the older ones had mouths, did they not?
If they went to school, they could have told a teacher or a school counselor what was going on at home.
Then there was this gem I used as a teenager whenever I was told to do something I thought was unnecessary or, in the case of some of my peers, illegal: "The only thing I absolutely have to do in this life is die. Everything else is my choice, and I choose not to do what you want me to do." And yes, I did say that to my parents on occaison, especially when my mother got particularly overbearing.

Just think, her children are going to grow up thinking this is OK. It's not their fault, of course, but I think the kids should now have some counselling and told how bad it is to mistreat animals.

It is unbelievable what people can do, I can only hope that these kids get therapy while their still young so that they dont repeat this cycle of abuse!
Extremely disturbing, I have a hard time believeing that such people even exist.

That is so disturbing. I am always suprised at the depth of human cruelty.

This is why vigilante justice should be allowed.

I was watching Dr. Phil yesterday and he had on a mother and grandmother of a 10 year old boy who is very violent and has killed many of the small animals (gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, goldfish) that his mother and grandmother had given him. His mother asks him why he does it and he says he likes it. He has pushed his mother down the stairs and has also harmed his grandmother. Dr. Phil asked the mother if she had any pets at home and she said she had a cat. Dr. Phil told her to get that cat out of the house before the boy goes back home. The mother was going to give the cat to her mother who has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 birds! Dr. Phil asked the grandmother if the boy visits her and she said yes. He told her to get those animals out of the house. He said his show will help them find new homes. I am not really a fan of Dr. Phil but his compassion for these animals makes him OK in my book. He said this boy needs help fast and even recommended he may have to go to a mental health facility if all else fails. So this shows that hurting and killing animals leads to violence against humans. The mother and grandmother are worried this boy will be a serial killer when he grows up.

Would gladly volunteer to do the same to the woman who did this to these dogs, just let me know; I'll pack my bags and be on my way.

a big thank you to the young gentleman who was forced to report his own mother's wickedness. It took a tremendous amount of courage for you to speak up - you did a great kindness by doing so. Way to man up!

This walking waste of air and space needs a long long time in jail...and a hot place in hell.
