It's true: Dollar General cares—about its customers' concerns and about animals.
After we received complaints that Dollar General, which has thousands of stores across the U.S., was selling hideously cruel glue traps, we wrote to the bargain retailer. In our letter, we described how animals who get stuck on glue traps can suffer for days before finally dying of starvation or dehydration. Many victims of glue traps rip their skin from their own faces and bodies as they try to escape, and some resort to chewing off their own limbs while trying to free themselves. We also let the company know that there are plenty of humane ways to deal with mice and rats.
Dollar General responded to our letter by announcing that it will stop selling glue traps. Just like that. The company didn't hem and haw—officials simply made a compassionate decision.
Dollar General joins other large retailers, including Albertsons, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and Safeway, that have stopped selling glue traps after discussions with PETA. Please thank the company for its decision—and then ask home-improvement biggie baddie Lowe's to follow suit.

Wow, that was fast. It surprises me when people listen to us.

Glue traps are inferior to regular mousetraps anyway. Why people buy them is beyond me.

Good business decision.

Do you think we can get Target to do the same?

People buy glue traps so they don't have to see the animal suffering like in regular mouse traps.

I worked for Dollar General. I remember those things. I always tried to hide them. lol I didn't realize how cruel they were until I read about them. It's like the Saw Series for animals. The animals had to rip off their own limbs to try and break free only to die an EVEN more painful death? That is just beyond cruel. I am suprised people listen to us sometimes, but I'm very glad. :)

Every household needs a vigilant cat. Rats and mice stay away from a territorial feline's turf.

its GREAT! that companys like d.g. will listen to peta, now that d.g. is listening to us. can we get them to stop funding animal research charities like susan g. komen, the indycar they sponsor (sarah fisher #67) was ALL PINK. for 1/2 (?) the season. ps, "if curing mouse cancers were enough. we would have cured cancer IN THE 60S" dr. donald morton, john wayne cancer institute. (also think of this!) how many BILLIONS of dollars have been spent on animal research (100s ?) since the 60s. 50 years of curing NOTHING.. sadly. most companys wont do as dollar general did, LISTEN TO (us!) PETA, what ever happened to getting the other side of the story?.. is human health to be taken so lightly as to listen to ONLY the animal research side.

That's great news about Dollar General. Wish something could be done about my A&P that places them on display in the middle of the aisle...not to mention the many True Value Hardware stores in the area.

There is no need for this and there are more humane ways in which to deal with mice. Good job Dollar General.
