The 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver are four months away, but tomorrow the torch will be lit in an elaborate ceremony in Olympia, Greece. While the torch-lightings for the past few Winter Olympics have been disrupted by weather, it wasn't the clouds that had officials worried at today's final rehearsal

Olympic Torch

It was PETA's "seal" and demonstrators who kept everyone on their toes.

As long as Canada, the host of the 2010 Winter Games, continues to allow sealers to bash in the heads of helpless baby seals, we'll continue to expose its shameful cruelty, wherever we can.

It's high time for animal loving Canadian vegetarians like Bryan Adams and KD Lang to have an anti-seal hunt benefit concert.

I will refuse to set foot in Canada until this cruel, inhumane and stupid practice is stopped. Well done, PETA!

You guys aren't even in Canada in that photo... I mean, c'mon, at least PROVE what you're going to do.

@ mel: No, those demonstrators are not in Canada. They are in Greece, where the torch-lighting took place.

I'm not sure what you mean by "prove what you're going to do." Demonstrating is what we are doing.

keep up the good work.
thank you for caring.
love you PETA.

Shawna, BTW, I do know that you guys are protesting; however, locations are everything. If I can get confused, so can others who are neutral on the stand. Just food for thought.

GOOD JOB PETA
LOVE YOU

Mel, not sure how you could be confused - did you read the headline and accompanying text? It clearly talks about the "elaborate ceremony" in Greece, and that demonstrators were present at the final rehearsal.

good job beta
it is really a shame what is happening to the helpless seals
you guys are there voice

I like the idea of PEACEFUL demonstrations... however as a Canadian I will stand up for our people in what they do... HOWEVER I do believe that some standards, regulations and monitoring have to be put in place... cut back on the number of hunters, number of seals, set standards that will be punishable and are enforced.... I know I will hated for what I said just as I hate PETA people how violate others physically and verbally, I do a respect for those how protest peacefully and do not get in other peoples faces... keep up this kind of work and I people will see right from wrong.

High five Peta!!! I love you guys!

Christine, as a fellow Canadian, I have no problem with calling a spade a spade or in this case a club and cruelty what it is. The Canadian seal hunt is an atrocity and despised by most of the citizens of this country. Stand up for what is right and don't be afraid to stand against cruelty.

Christine please tell me you do not believe this seal hunting s**t is humane! For the love of god it is anything BUT! And thank you Deborah.
