Glenn Beck to Al Gore: Listen to PETA

Fox News host Glenn Beck may not be ready to sign PETA's "Pledge to Be Veg" just yet, but that didn't stop him from dishing up some choice words about Al Gore's continued, convenient omission of any mention of the meat industry's devastating impact on the environment.

"… I am siding with PETA on this one—once again asking Al Gore, 'If you really want to save the planet, put down the cheeseburgers and pick up the veggie burgers. Time for soy milk and Tofurky.' … I've said before I disagree with PETA, but I respect them because they are not hypocrites: They say what they mean and mean what they say. I just disagree with what they say—except when it calls for Al Gore to eat tofu."
Makes me wanna send Mr. Beck some vegan chocolate kisses.
Folks, trying to clean up the environment without going vegan is like trying to mask the smell of rotting garbage by hanging 100 fragrance trees from the ceiling. It doesn't work. The only way to get rid of the stink and cruelty to animals is to change what you put on your plate.

I thought Glenn Beck didn't believe in global warming. After all, he wrote a book called An Inconvenient Lie. He is so anti-science!!!

I don't think Glem is anti-science, I think it is more like anti-jumping to conclusions. Especially when there are thousands of SCIENTISTS who either question Al Gore's movie or just flat out say it is false.
He just wants there to be a more conclusive study carried out by independent entities.

Al Gore is a LIAR and a SCAM artist. This iiar won the Nobel price, Academy Award and made so much money and for what??? for omitting the number cause of Global warming and a cause that we can all end today by going Veg. Gore didn't mention in his movie the cattle ranch that he owns. Gore contribute more to Global warming since he deliberately left out that eating meat is the number one cause of global warming. Now people are focusing uselessly on changing their light bulbs and painting their roofs white which was MINIMAL impact. You aren't an environmentalist if you eat meat.

Does anyone think that he's just mocking Gore? If he really believed that the meat industry contributes to global warming then he'd be a vegetarian. Instead it sound's like he's just trying to play devils advocate while taking a few jibes at Gore.

The Beck that really counts has been an animal lover and strict vegetarian for forty years. I'm referreing to rock and roll Hall of Fame guitar virtuoso, Jeff Beck.

Yes, global warming is real. Al Gore's movie was right on. Glen Beck criticizes and makes up lies against anyone liberal. Glen Beck cannot be taken seriously. As for Al Gore, maybe one day he'll make the choice to go veg. He's done a lot for the environment, and therefore, the animals. In the meantime, everyone can ask their senators to pass a strong global warming bill at http://www.ucsusa.org/action.

Roxanne, I wouldn't say Gore is a liar and a scam artist. He shouldn't have omitted meat as a leading cause of global climate change, but we shouldn't criticize him. After all, most of us used to eat meat at some point in our lives. We made the personal decision not to, and perhaps one day he will too. Let's politely ask him instead of insulting him. I do not see too many others fighting against global climate change. If Gore would have won the presidential election, perhaps the polar bears wouldn't be drowning right now.

I totally agree with roxanne.
I watch Glenn Beck on Fox News because I am a conservative vegan. Although I don't agree with everything he says at least he is fair to PETA in this argument with Gore. Light bulbs and recycled paper is not a big deal---slaughterhouses and factory farms are!!!
Go vegan, it is a moral imperative!

I think people need to understand that there are always two sides to a story. What might be right in one instance, might not work in another. It's too easy to point the finger and say "your wrong". Rather then be part of the problem and calling people names...why not think of solutions. If it wasn't for an inconvenient truth, most people wouldn't know about Global warming. Any step in the right direction is a step. Quit arguing and start reaching out and educating. What use is knowledge if you are rude and a bully? Presentation is key.

I don't like Glen Beck's politics, but I certainly respect him for his appreciation of the qualities of PETA, even if he does not agree with the organization. On the other hand, I love Al Gore but it is a real disappointment to see the hypocrite in him. His proof of global warming is based almost solely around science, yet he cannot agree with scientifically proven and tested studies showing meat as the BIGGEST CAUSE OF GLOBAL WARMING.

We all need to be vegans and staunch conservationists and environmentalists and ride bicycles to and from work to reduce human carbon footprints on planet earth. I am a strict vegan-environmentalist-conservationist for 10 yrs and i have no regrets. I urge everyone to follow and I guarantee you will feel much better about yourself

Good idea Bob. I will ride my bike 30 miles a day to work and 30 miles on the way back. Not to mention I have to wear dress clothes and carry a laptop computer with me. Plus here in Indiana the weather isn't always sunny and mild. It snows, rains and generally gets cold this time of the year.
Carbon footbrint? That is the biggest bunch of BS ever. Its just another way for the government to tax us on something else.

This is a valid argument for the green movement. Why is Al Gore not leading by example. Why does he expect everyone else to ride bikes, conserve household energy, and worry about the number one cause of global worming....the meat industry? And all the while it is Al Gore traveling in gas guzzling jets, using an extreme amount of household energy, and still refusing to become vegetarian. To me it looks like Al Gore likes to portray an environmentalist image while doing the opposite. Oh, and I bet the paycheck ain't bad either. Who give a rat's ass who it was that called Al Gore out on his hypocracy. When you're wrong you are wrong. I don't care if he wrote the bible on environmentalism. If he ain't gonna lead by example...then the hell with him.

As a life long Republican and PETA member, thank you to Glenn Beck for starting to take a hard look at the problems surrounding the industry of slaughtering other life forms. I never understood why pro life was so narrowly interpreted considering the genetic similarities that we all share.
