Actually all of this goes back much further than 60 years, it goes back centuries. Which only proves that intellegence does not increase with age.

What is the "souvenier" supposed to be?

Animal cruelty is so prevalent and hideous in china. I think PETA needs to set up a seperate division in china because it's severly needed.

Brilliant work by Jeff. China is indisputably one of the most malevolent and irreverent nations in the world in reference to its mistreatment of animals. It's truly a Godless nation.

Hi everyone, I'm as much of an animal supporter as any PETA member here and while I do agree that China is notorious for animal cruelty practices, much of it derives from demands in non-Chinese markets. For example, most of the fur that China produces is exported and used in expensive designs from Europe and Japan. Much of China's alternative medicines and culinary delicacies that use cruelty harvested animal parts are becoming increasingly popular amongst consumers in the Western Hemisphere. Surely the Chinese government can be more proactive in monitoring, limiting if not altogether stopping these horrid practices, but keep in mind that the responsibility to end these practices lies with the consumers who support these cruel industries. Protesting China's disregard of animal rights will be part of the solution, but in addition we need to protest against designers who STILL use and promote fur, celebrities who wear these designs, retailers who buy and resell them.
Please remember that many animal-friendly products come from China as well - tofu and seitan being amongst them.

i highly agree with chad that peta should try ato set up a division specifically dedicated to just china, because that seems to be an area where people dont change their ways and hideous things continue to happen to these animals

Yeah, another good one, Jeff.

Good luck setting up a PETA branch in China. China is a communist country in which the press, the right of assembly and humans rights are still controlled by the government. Since all these industries benefit the government and are controlled by the government, any bad press or protest would result in censorship and/or legal action or worse.
I think many of us take for granted how nice we have it in the US.

china is a totalitarian state, everything is controlled by the government.

okay i know this is an old entry but I still think it's a little rude to target China like that. They only eat dogs in rural areas, I actually went to China and it's not so bad. Remember, there's a PETA asia pacific people! And it's not godless! I made a friend in China and she wants to help all the animals she can!
