The following is a guest post from PETA Europe's Matt Goldsmith.
Always an organization to keep abreast of scientific studies, PETA Europe was particularly interested to learn that Glasgow, the city with the second-highest obesity rate of all the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries, has seen an 80 percent rise in gynecomastia (aka "Man Boob") reduction procedures since 2007.
Now, while there might be some men in the world who for various reasons would welcome the idea of growing a pair of breasts, at PETA Europe we know that only a boob would want to go out and buy a 44DD because of obesity helped along by eating foods derived from animals.
With our newest billboard, PETA Europe is calling on the men of Glasgow to make a difference—both for their bodies and for animals.

I see we're still ridiculing overweight people. Obesity is a relatively new epidemic in industrialized nations because people eat more of EVERYTHING that's cheap and easy to get - not just meat. I think enough vegetarians and vegans can attest to that.

this is kind of funny. but, i don't think it's just meat thats causing obesity. i'll admit that i'm obese, but it's not because i eat an overabundance of meat: mine's a result of a legit medical condition and so is my mother's and father's obesity. so don't blame it all on eating meat. =]

I recently saw a talk show featurng a group of obese teenagers talking with a doctor who did not pull any punches. When one boy complained that he had man boobs the doctor looked him in the eye and said, "Your condition is called gynocomastia and it is caused by eating meat. The hormones injected into the food animals in this country are causing all types of problems. You can have your condition surgically corrected but the best way to treat it is to stop eating meat and become a vegetarian. Becoming vegetarian will also help you lose the excess weight, but you will still need to watch the amount of food you eat and excercise."

@ samantha moore
false dichotomy, there is a junk food epidemic in the industrialized nations, and an obesity epidemic to match. omnivores have three times the obesity rate of veg*ns.

think green. go vegan. the only compassionate choice.

I agree but especially because of growth hormones. Lets not forget that a lot of pesticides are endocrine disruptors. Eat organic. If you want bigger boobs eat fenugreek.

Since when was it ok to associate vegetarianism with ridiculing people. I'm vegetarian beacuse I respect other living creatures lives and feelings. Eating meat is not the only cause of obesity. Maybe you should rethink your logic here PETA.
