Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on this Win It Wednesday. The winner of the GurglePot is Tara. Congratulations!

There are some words that are just fun to say. "Gurgle"—it's a whimsical word for a sound that gets my attention, whether it's my belly telling me it wants chocolaty goodness or my coffee pot signaling that my morning salvation is ready.

That sense of whimsy guides this week's "Win It" Wednesday and its prize, the GurglePot. It's a stoneware vase shaped like a fish sea kitten that "gurgles" when it's used to pour.

Who knows if a humuhumunukunukuapua'a really gurgles under water? Who cares?

snortglubablubagloopgloopsnort....the exact sound I am told I make when I am swimming laps in the pool.

Can I please have that cute little gurgle pot :)

Posted by: Cynthia Felix | August 19, 2009 11:50 AM

Aww. :'D The contest ends on my birthday!

These gurgle pots are amazing, and so colorful. :O

Hmm. One word..."Blubglub"
When I was smaller, I used to think that sea kittens made that sound when they were underwater (You know, when they opened their mouths). Teehee.

Posted by: Celine | August 19, 2009 11:51 AM

My sea-kitten friendly word that is the most fun to say is:

Purrsnorgle.

Yes, purrsnorgle, the delightful combination of the feeling of a fishy-lipped kiss (snorgle) and the sound of a delighted sea-kitten (purr, obviously).

Posted by: Jennifer | August 19, 2009 11:52 AM

Tralalalala!!! (They look like they are a choir, singing a song.)

Posted by: Hope B. | August 19, 2009 12:19 PM

A fun 'sea-kitten' word to say would have to be "Binnegamaguro", which is the Japanese enunciation for the 'Bigeye Tuna'!

Posted by: Jared | August 19, 2009 12:24 PM

Very cool pots! My favorite childish word is still "fishy".

Posted by: Aneliese | August 19, 2009 12:25 PM

I call them purrfect fefish... (feline and fish)because they are so friendly. I go down to this stream in Sandusky where there are trout and they play with me for food but you have to be careful because sometimes they will mistake a finger for a piece of bread. LOL!

Posted by: Lindsey | August 19, 2009 12:28 PM

Those are so cute, I want one.

Posted by: Kat | August 19, 2009 12:32 PM

Posted by: Codie | August 19, 2009 12:42 PM

Kumquat is fun to say! AND it is sea kitten friendly :-)

Posted by: Marie Bachman | August 19, 2009 12:48 PM

My favorite sea-kitten friendly word has to be "squeak" since they communicate to each other. It's cute to think that they communicate mostly during courtship :) Squeak just sounds like a happy and excited word to me. Who doesn't like to say it aloud?

Posted by: jamie | August 19, 2009 02:33 PM

this is a hard one...i have several words that i like to use that make my husbands eyebrows raise and his head shake back in forth in an "i give up" kind of way...then it usually ends in a kind giggle and a big hug...maybe i confuse him...maybe he thinks i'm cute...what i do know is that he's a good man who accepts me and all my crazy ways...anyway...the words i choose for the sea kitten friendly catagory are: "pook-pook..." you have to say it in a high pitchy baby voice...this is how i imagine a sea kitten to sound when they talk..."pook-pook" says the sea kitten..."pook-pook" to you kind sir...

Aqua-lalala

Posted by: Carol Gorschboth | August 19, 2009 03:08 PM

My favorite fishy word is cephalopod. You know, like squid and octopus. Maybe they can be "sea puppies"

Posted by: Erin Register | August 19, 2009 03:37 PM

When I was a kid I would call them "pishies" :O)

Posted by: Hope | August 19, 2009 03:59 PM

That's one of the cutest and most creative vases I've ever seen! gurgle!

Posted by: Kelsy | August 19, 2009 04:10 PM

The only word that comes to mind for me would be: bloop. I can just picture them chilling out in the water, bubbles and seaweed floating gently around them, and one little sea kitten saying bloop oh so innocently to the others and continuing on with his day. XD

Posted by: Taylor | August 19, 2009 04:11 PM

Tintinnabulation. I don't know why, but I've always liked that word. Maybe hearing it will make bells go off for others and they'll go veg! :)

Posted by: Kelli | August 19, 2009 04:12 PM

"mee-urgle!" (half meow- half gurgle). I think that is probably the sound they'd make after sitting down to a delicious vegan meal of sea greens.

Posted by: Allison Bjorndahl | August 19, 2009 04:16 PM

I think
"Moo Shoo" as in "moo shoo pork" is a fun word to say.

Posted by: Erin O | August 19, 2009 04:23 PM

Posted by: Tanvi Talita | August 19, 2009 04:54 PM

My favourite Sea-Kitten friendly word is, simple yet funny to say; Bubble! Because Sea-Kittens sometimes make bubbles, & it just makes me giggle when I say it. Those Gurglepots look great! Fingers Crossed!!!!

Posted by: Deb Merskin | August 19, 2009 06:15 PM

My fav word comes from the most PRO sea kitten movie of all time-The Little Mermaid. The word is "dinglehopper" and Ariel uses it to comb her hair:)

Posted by: Katie | August 19, 2009 06:16 PM

My daughter would add this to everyone's name when she was 2- weewa. She called me
mommyweewa for a year!
I love weewa!

A fun 'sea-kitten' word to say would have to be "Binnegamaguro", which is the Japanese enunciation for the 'Bigeye Tuna'!

"FLIPPY-PAWS"

Since I started calling our underwater friends "sea kittens" I've stopped using the word "fins" and I call them "flippy-paws".

Posted by: Kaleigh | August 19, 2009 07:53 PM

They look like the incredible mr limpet. How about bubblelimpetish?

Posted by: susan | August 19, 2009 08:45 PM

I like the Persian work for kitty. Peesh-ee (peesh rhymes with lease, -ee like a short i)It sounds fishy to me. ;]

Or even Swiss Deutsche slang for kitty, kitty, kitty. Boozzhi, boozzhi, boozzhi That is just fun to say. Try doing it three times fast.

Posted by: Erica | August 19, 2009 09:13 PM

I imagine that a sea kitten would 'trill'. I love to imagine peering down into the crystal clear depths and straining my ears to hear a sea kitten trill!

Posted by: Jessica Nicholson | August 19, 2009 09:55 PM

Well, as someone who has a tattoo of a PurrMaid/MerCat on her leg . . . I think I have some innate insight into what a sea kitten would say, which is: "BlooPurrrrr" or perhaps "MeowSea" (for when Tom is hanging out with Jerry).

Posted by: Lisa Kavanaugh | August 19, 2009 10:02 PM

Love. it is sort of lame and cliche, but you can't say love with out feeling something special.

Posted by: Nicole Rice | August 19, 2009 10:04 PM

I find that phrases like, "sea kittens" are some reasons why people ridicule PETA. I can't say that I don't blame them for that. For a fish friendly word, I would have to go with, "Glockenspiel." It's like a xylophone, but way more fun to say. I also have to give props to the guy who put supercali... as a tag.

Posted by: Edward | August 20, 2009 12:49 AM

waaapppp, shhhplunk, tinker tinker - i imagine a fish frolicking would sound like this... the "tinker tinker" is the sound of the rock bottom being disturbed by such fun :)

Posted by: j chaborek | September 2, 2009 01:47 AM

This makes me laugh! I use to trip my son up when we would go through the animal sounds. I'd ask him,"What does a cow say?" Of course he'd say "Mooooo.." "What does a pig say?" "Oink, oink" "What does a fish say?" And he'd just look at me...clueless. I'd always throw in a random one now and then. Just to test his creativity. Now he'll be pleased to know there actualy is an "official" fish sound..."Gurgle"

Thanks guys!
