Alannah Hill

Great news for all you PETA Files readers down under: Australian fashion designer Alannah Hill has agreed to stop using rabbit fur in her collections.

Good on ya, Alannah!

The girly-chic designer had a change of heart after hearing from thousands of PETA Asia-Pacific supporters who got fired up about fur after watching video footage that documents disgusting conditions on a Chinese fur farm.

Alannah joins the ranks of compassionate designers like Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole, and Tommy Hilfiger, who have all sworn off fur.

Hopefully, other designers (Armani, are you listening?) will soon follow suit.

Thank you! great news for rabbits

Fantastic news, thankyou alannah. But i carnt help thinking its a shame these people only succumb to pressure to do the right thing and not because they actually want to. Still brilliant news, many rabbits will be spared cruelty now another designer has turned their back on the fur trade lets hope more do the same and ALL rabbits are spared. lets target armani now.

calvin klein? tommy? im sorry but fur is not enough. yes this is a big victory and should be celebrated but dont forget these people still use leather. the fight is not over.

Stella McCartney is the paramount designer in reference to being cruelty-free and animal friendly.

I think that PETA is just focusing on the cute, furry animals like rabbits, foxes, etc. because that is where most of the support is. There are less people that care about cows (at least for fashion purposes, that is.)

Alannah, I thank you and the rabbits that remain alive today thank you. Please do NOT use any animals for ANY fur at all EVER again!!! Please be compassionate to the beautiful creatures that God has blessed us with!!!

It is excellent that a lot of designers are swearing off fur but what about reptile skins? Snakes, crocs and gators all suffer too when their skins are removed and many times they are still alive when they get skinned.

Thanks Alannah, We understand that everyone is not aware of the facts shown in the video however it’s proving to be a real eye opener and will help protecting those innocent animals by changing the mind and the opinion of others as it changed yours. GOD BLESS YOU.

That is really awesome. Very brave of her to admit she was wrong. So glad to hear it and hope she has learned a few things about the way animals are treated for their "products".

YES!!!!!! We shoot, we score, and the crowd goes wild (pause to do my happy dance). I did my bit e-mailing her, and thanks to all the rest of you who did the same.
I'd not go so far as to call her compassionate yet, lets keep our eyes on her. The price of victory is eternal vigilance. (to mangle a phase)

Your sensitivity and excellent judgement are applauded, Allannah! I thank you for this outstanding decision and expect you have or will extend this decision so that no animal fur or skin will be used in your fashions. By doing so, you will save sentient animals from horror and pain. You are/will be setting an example for others.
