Something Fishy Going On in Seattle

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) held its annual convention in Seattle this weekend and—despite public outcry—allowed attendees to participate in a dead-fish toss.
I don't know about y'all, but when I'm looking for an "outrageously fun" time, I go dancing. I don't throw around corpses. So to remind the AVMA that sea kittens feel pain just as dogs and cats do—and to provide a memorable image of the suffering that the AVMA willingly supports—we held a stunning demonstration in front of the conference for all attendees and Seattleites to see:
In the words of PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman, "The AVMA is a trade group that often sides with animal abusers, not with animals. People expect more from the very people who are charged with helping and protecting animals."
Hopefully the attention-grabbing demonstration armed people with some future lifesaving knowledge.

The AVMA also SUPPORTS puppy mills, dog fighting, horse slaughter, and any other kind of animal abuse you can think of.
If someone makes money abusing animals, the AVMA supports it.
The AVMA is a business lobby. They don't represent animal welfare, animal health, or anything else but MAKING AS MUCH MONEY FROM ANIMALS IN WHATEVER WAY POSSIBLE
They represent the financial interests of animal profiteers.

Good Work peta!
What kind of person would want to toss dead fish anyway?

More and more disturbing updates about the very sinister and not animal friendly AVMA.

Wish I had been at the fish toss...I have a real smart mouth I use to great advantage in those situations.
I would have stated, loudly, since this is what they do to the bodies of sea kittens, I assume they have the same good fun with the bodies of their euthanized patients after the heartbroken familes leave.

Rev Meg, unless you pick up the body of your pet, most vets sell the bodies to renderers.
Some bodies have been found dumped in landfills, the woods, rivers.
Others have ended up in pet food.
The AVMA does not care about veterinary ethics. They care only about profits.

This whole thing really surprises me ! I would think vets would try to stop this sort of thing , not participate in it ! Damn !

Toni, I was a veterinary assistant for many years. I know exactly what they do to the bodies that are not picked up. That is why my birds are buried in my backyard, and when my dog departs for Rainbow Bridge, I am taking him to Seabreeze Pet Cemetary for cremation.
Here is my Camp Snoopy story:
When I was in training, our class toured our local animal "shelter" which was located next to our local human incarceration center, known to one and all as "Camp Snoopy." We toured the area where the euthanizations are done. The workers in that area were jumpsuit clad Camp Snoopy inmates. When I asked how they got this duty one of them told me this is what a local judge sentences local animal abusers or killers to; if you think what you did was so funny you can do it 8 hours a day for however long your sentence is (usually a year). There was a roomful of empty bins there and the inmates told us by Friday every one would be filled with the bodies of unwanted animals.
