Yesterday, crowds descended on Los Angeles' Staples Center to pay respects to the "King of Pop," but it was "Her Royal Hotness," PETA's Lettuce Lady, who stole the show outside Michael Jackson's memorial. Wearing only her signature lettuce bikini and a single, white sequined glove, Christina Cho held a mirror reading, "Go Vegetarian for the Man in the Mirror."

Her message was inspired by Michael Jackson's hit, "The Man in the Mirror," which pondered the impact of personal change:
I'm gonna make a change,
For once in my life,
It's gonna feel real good,
Gonna make a difference,
Gonna make it right . . .
What's the easy answer for those who want to make a difference in their health, animal suffering, the environment, and starving children like those featured in the song's video? Go vegetarian!

Too bad one of the most talked about moments from the memorial was Magic Johnson's story of eating KFC fried chicken with Michael.

Yay ! Go veg for the King Of Pop :]

Michael Jackson was not a vegetarian. Paul McCartney, Chrissie Hynde, Moby, Jeff Beck, Leona Lewis, Joan Jett, Morrissey, Thom Yorke, Bryan Adams, KD Lang, Boston's Tom Scholz, Howard Jones, Carrie Underwood and Steve Vai are bona fide vegetarian role models.

that's a really sweet statement.

I love you Peta, but this was un-called for. No one could "steal the show" because it wasn't a show, it was a memorial for a man who has died. And more importantly, Michael wasn't even a vegetarian. I am usually always so proud to support you, but with this I'm ashamed.

HAVE A HEARTH !
GO VEG!

I don't think it matters whether Michael was or was not a vegetarian. Either way, he was a kind soul with plenty of his own issues. However, I do think that Lettuce Lady took the opportunity to promote vegetrianism at a time when the entire world was watching this event. Whatever his eating habits, Michael championed the helpless and lonely. I think he would have been very happy with Lettuce Lady's plan.

someone on tv said he was a vegetarian, like his nutritionist or something, but then magic johnson said they ate fried chicken together in the late 90s.. so confused.

Great pictures, yeah peta

I'm sorry, but demonstrating outside a memorial? That is the wrong time to trot out Peta's message, whether it was positive or not, and you guys really need to know when to restrain from certain things.

And didn't he own a Chimp at one time.

Nothing to be confused about - he USED to eat meat, and AFTER the 90's became vegetarian. :o)

Brien,
Don't forget veg*n guitarists B. B. King, Kirk Hammett, Steve Morse, John Jorgenson, Steve Howe, Phil Collen, Eric Johnson, Brian May, Prince, Richard Thompson, Keith Scott (Bryan Adam's guitarist) and Link Wray, among many other musicians.

Vegetarian... haha. Didn't anyone hear the comment by Magic Johnson about sitting around with MJ and sharing a bucket of KFC-great, one of the cruelest and unenvironmental (Palm Oil) fast food chains on this poor planet.

Don`t think MJ was a vegetarian, but he certainly liked animals and had many of them in his Neverland ranch, never hid that his chimp was one of his closest friend. That was something.

Go Lettuce Lady!
And well said Josette - you put the heart of the matter very succinctly.

I had heard in the past that Michael was a vegetarian but not sure if he really was.

so what if someone ate KFC in the 90's you have to start somewhere right?! i have been a vegetarian for 1 year now-there was a time i ate meat but i decided to make a change for the better, just like everyone who decides to go vegan/vegetarian.....come on

Never the less Michael was a sweet soul, we can all agree!! Rest In Peace!! And to Mike Quinoa, welcome back!! Missed reading your intelligent comments!!

I read that Michael Jackson kept his exotic pets in pretty bad conditions and didn't even donate money to the organisations that rescued them when he got tired of them.

I think he didn't eat right kind of foods neither did Farah Fawcet they died to young. He was always in that chamber and she never ate good either.

Yeah maybe a memorial wasn't the perfect time, but the media had already made it a spectacle, and that was supposed to be more of a celebration anyway. At least PETA was focusing on a positive message, instead of all the negative about MJ. But speaking of veg musicians, I have give a shout out to my fave band, Rise Against.

Michael Jackson wasn't a vegetarian and what about his starving his animals at his zoo. If he spoken and advocated for a vegan diet, I can't even imagine the hoards of followers he would have inspired. What a Waste!

I do all I can to be vegetarian, sometimes it seems so hard for many reasons. But, now I 'will' do it; for sure!
Goin' Vege for the 'Man in the Mirror'

no way! Michael Jackson wasn't vegetarian. his favorite food was fried chicken. but I'm!
I love you peta. think everybobody should be vegetarian, is the only way to save the world and of course the Animals! kiss

MJ Exploited animals?
Do People NOT get that?
COME ON, He kept wild Animals at his home in a Personal Zoo!
He is in NO way someone for PETA to "Lean on" now or EVER. Not to mention he was a freak.

I think that there wasn´t a show and that it´s a wrong statement. I also think that he loved animals and he took good care of them. I think he was misunderstood, but he was a nice and a lonely man, and the best entertainer

Who's Michael Jackson?
Posted by: Brian Luznak Is Still Certainly Not An MD | July 14, 2009 11:44 PM
MJ was too sweet for this earth. He loved animals and children and treated them with love and respect. He was threatening to many because of his generous spirit. I think that he was taken early to a better place because he was so awesome.

First of all michael jackson is the greatest entertainers that ever lived. Second of all he was vegetarian for a little bit in the 80s only because he wanted a dancers body. He loved animals with all his heart and spent millions of dollars a year on vet care so his animals lived a wonderful life. Rest in peace michael. You truly were the king.

GO VEG!
Michael was indeed a vegetarian :) despite rumors.. Just because some basketball player said MJ at kentucky fried chicken, now everyone is doubting his vegetarianism.. When he was in fact a veg.
