The AVMA plans to team up veterinarians and employees of Pike Place Fish Market for a dead fish sea kitten toss at its upcoming convention in Seattle. The event organizers promise that the event will be "outrageously fun."
Come again?
My gut tells me that the AVMA wouldn't dare try to organize a dead cat toss—so why not show the same consideration for sea kittens? The AVMA is turning a blind eye to the deaths of billions of sea kittens who suffocate on boat decks or are cut open while they are still conscious—all thanks to the cruel fishing industry. And those sea kittens feel pain, just like land kittens do.
Conventiongoers could get a uniquely Seattle experience by spending a few hours at the Experience Music Project and then visiting the Space Needle—a fun and cruelty-free afternoon.

The AVMA also supports puppy mills, horse slaughter, lab animal abuse, and anything else where animals are exploited for money.
The AVMA represents a lobby for one thing only- making money from animals, especially hurting and killing animals.
They are NOT an authority on animal care, humane care, or anything but MAKING MONEY.
It is hard to find a more heartless or corrupt business group in this country.

The AVMA is generally a callous and detached organization that rarely if ever ardently advocates the humane treatment of animals.

AVMA is a joke and has no respect or credibility.

The time has come that the 'medical science' fraternity across the board must answer to the people about the senseless manner in which they have for ages exploited cruelly both human and animal beings in the name of science. They are not gods in white coats, in fact according to 1 Corinthians 13, if they don't have love, they are NOTHING.. no matter how much they pride themselves in higher education.
There needs to be a body of 'Compassionate Science' globally, whereby doctors, pshychologists, vets, labs, scientists, universities etc can be identified as to their standing on issues regarding anti cruelty to sentient beings, so that consumers can withhold their monetary resources from the ones that deems us, together with the whole of the animal kingdom, as objects existing on a level somewhere 'below' them. The dark ages are gone, a new morning has broken in consumer awareness... We pay the taxes and fees, we yield the profits - we can take it all away... and we should, with immediate effect.

So why not have PETA members show up at the fish market on that day and have some of them sling stuffed animals around, while others hold up signs stating "If you would not play catch with the bodies of your euthanized patients, why are you doing this???"

Does this mean that I can invite The American Cancer Society to a dead human toss at a hospice?

These guys blow! They are hurting our animals! I think they are corrupt! I lobby against puppy mill in Austin this year at the capital and they snuck in and dropped the bomb and defended the puppy mills. We need to keep an eye on these losers!

In regards to Brians comments about horses...You want to know why its wrong to slaughter horses??? HELLOO! Why should they get killed?? Why cant they get adopted out to organiztions that help mentally disabled children or to a 4H club? I would take a free horse if someone offered it to me!!! The horse is the only symbol of freedom left in the country, we should be taking care of these creatures, not cutting them up for meat markets and what not!!!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever written or contacted them regarding these matters. I had no idea they were so cruel. It is such a shame that the people you would count on to stick up for animals are the ones treating them so horribly. It is a very scary thing and goes to show you how little of a regard our society has for animals.

Tom, your comment was not only as ignorant and pathetic as you seem to be, but also cruel and un-called for. People like yourself make me sick!
