Thanks for all of your wonderful comments on this Win It Wednesday. The winners of the Kitty Castles are aMY, Heather, Nadine L., Karin, and Tara. Congratulations!

I've never quite understood it when people talk about the cats they "own." Anyone with a feline companion knows that we don't own cats—they own us. As soon as they enter our homes, they become our kings and queens and we their devoted subjects.

What could be a more appropriate abode for kitty royalty than a Kitty Castle? A Kitty Castle is a playhouse that Princess Fluffy can retire to after she's done taking over your house. It's the perfect size for playing or sleeping, and it's fun for the kids (or you) to decorate (with her majesty's permission, of course). This week, we've got five of them to give away!

Kitty Castle

How do you win? Tell us why your feline friend deserves to be pampered. The five most touching comments will take home a Kitty Castle and a few other treats.

The contest ends on July 8, 2009, and we'll choose five comments as the winners on July 10, 2009. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting. Check back every Wednesday for new prizes. Good luck!

I have 2 kittys at home my big boy who is 9 years old I rescued him at approximately 4 weeks (he and his brother and sisters were ferral, I worked with them until about 8 weeks then with the help of my Vet found new homes for all but one and then my baby girl who is 12 weeks old. My old man kitty needs a castle that he can relax in to possible get some peace from the baby who of course is full of engery. This is why I think that my Prince needs a castle, so that he can rest peacefully in the splender that he deserves and of course my little princess as well.

My boyfriend and I are proud parents of two male cats, Mack is about 3 years old and Murray is about 9 months old. I say about because we adopted them from a local rescue group, and aren't sure exactly when they were born. We know that Mack used to be a feral cat, but loved people so much they took him in and now he is truly the most loving, cuddly, purring cat I've ever known. And Murray was found (in the middle of a Minnesota winter) on the side of a road, when a Good Samaritan picked him up and took him into rescue. He is filled with energy and his purr can be heard from a few rooms away! Both of our cats have lived a very hard life before being adopted by us, and we're so lucky to have found them. They make us smile when we come home from work, they cuddle with us when we're sad, and never ask for anything in return. If I've ever known two cats that deserve to be pampered it's definitely Mack and Murray!

My cat sits patiently when we comes back with the shopping, waiting for it all to be unpacked, when we'll put down an empty carrier bag for him to sit in.

My three cats, Oliver, Laurel, and Kip, all deserve to have a Kitty Castle to relax in. All 3 of them were strays that I adopted. Oliver was left in a cardboard box in a thunderstorm with his siblings. Laurel was abandoned in the drop box of our local shelter. Kip was found emaciated and covered in fleas and flea bites outside a nearby county's jail. All 3 of them have been through a lot. Although they now live in pampered luxury in my home, they deserve something special for being such wonderful cats. All 3 of them are seneitive to my feelings and know when I need cheering up. When I was going through treatment for cancer, all 3 seemed to intuitively give me a lick or a nuzzle or to lay on my chest when I needed it most. They are 3 wonderful cats, and they deserve something special for all they do and all they've been through.

I think that my cat Pounce should win this castle because when she was a kitten she was an alley cat; I think it would be a purfect rags to riches story. She could be Queen of her Castle :)

My Ricky has been sad since his big sister (Lucy) died in January. His new little brother (Mouse) is slowly getting into his good graces, but I can tell he needs a sanctuary of his own. Ricky is a big majestic cat that would enjoy a castle!

I have 6 save kitties who are the master of the house....Maybe giving them a castle will give them swollen egos? eh---I let it get as far as they want it.
(until I get demand written in littler around the house)

i have two kittens. the female Magarella is older, she's 3 years old, the male kirikou is just 1 year. magarella is pregnant and she'll have kittens soon... i thing my cats need a kitty castle! i can figure them and the baby kittens (that will be born soon) playing in the castle; i can figure magarella milking her babies in the castle and kirikou watching the loving scene through the windows. they would be very happy to own a castle in their home! they're the gods of home, they must have a castle!!!

I would love this kitty castle for my brood of cats! I have six cats, two of which were wild feral kittens. My four older cats were so loving, patient and sweet with the kitty monsters and slowly taught them how to be loving, beautiful lap cats. As a gift, I wish I could buy them a cat tree to the sky. But since I can't, I think they would be pretty happy with a castle out of a fairy tale.

Let me tell you about Harley. I started fostering kittens three years ago through my local county shelter, and in through my door came Harley. They thought he'd be blind within months and I couldnt let him go, so I kept him. And his eye cleared up. Unfortunately he contracted an immune definicieny (Herpes virus), and the poor thing gets sick whenever he becomes stressed. Harley is my hero, because since he was little he has allowed me to bring over 80 foster kittens through my doors and never once hissed or was mean. He immediately bathed and accepted each as his own. Harley allows me to continue to foster, and save more heros like himself. Castle or not, he is my prince.. but I know he'd love the castle!

We have three cats at home, 2 of which are older and have their "safe houses". These are places where no other animal in the house goes and we dont touch them while they are in there but are easliy accessible during emergencys. They normally retreat to these places during the horible thunderstorms we have been having. The third cat, our newest one, has no place to go. He wanders the house getting kicked out of the other cats safe houses. He normally goes under a bed. This past weekend tornado sirens went off and we were not able to take mr. dolce with us to our safe spot bc he was hiding so far under the bed. He needs a castle to be able to relax and call home but also a place were we can grab him in emergencys.

I have a small black kitten that sleeps in my bed every night. I love to sleep with her, but I think she would love to have her own place to play and sleep. I rescued her in an avenue in the city (full of cars with the risk of being hit) when she was a baby that just beginning to open eyes. She misses her mom so I try to give much love and consent her. I love Her.

We adopted our beautiful kitty Hailey about 1 1/2 years after losing both of our cherished pets of 14 years within 2 weeks of each other. We never thought we could love or want another pet after that heartbreak, but Hailey wormed her way into our hearts the moment we saw her at the shelter. I gave her the nickname "Lady Hailey" so it is only fitting that she have a castle to spend her days in while we are at work.

I have 6 kitties; Wilbur, Tommy, Mikey, Daisy, Rickie and Colbie (aka Tiny). They absolutely run my home, and make my life complete. Wilbur cries and cries and insists on being petted while he eats. Alpha cat Tommy jumps into bed most nights and snuggles, but when he's ready to wake up, he makes CERTAIN that I'm up too, by doing whatever it takes to get me up. Mikey is the sweetest soul I've ever met, be it human or animal. He likes to be carried to bed every night with me and needs lots of kisses before he curls up next to me. Daisy is so funny how she likes anything made of paper, and rubs against it and bites it when I open mail or read the paper. Rickie is the funniest, silliest cat I've ever seen. Everyday he cries for me to get up off the couch to follow him into the bedroom (he keeps stopping and looking back to make sure I follow) and then he likes me to "explore" with him. And Colbie is so sweet, that just giving her pets and kisses makes her day, and she shows this by the sweet, loving looks she gives me. These happy, spoiled kitties would love to have a kitty castle!

I adopted a beautiful calico kitty about 5 years ago, whom I named Calie. Original, I know. lol But since then, I have taken in and found homes for MANY cats. And my total count in my home now is 5. I love them all dearly, but Calie was my first baby, and she has been such a good sport through everything. She treats all of the other kittys as if they were her own...strange, because she was spayed when she was 6 months old. lol She is the queen of my home, and she truly deserves her OWN castle. lol

I have 5 cats that were all strays. My oldest Mali has issues with stress she basically licks her skin raw on her belly and he back legs. She has to have a lot of love to keep her happy and a balanced enviroment. Next in line is Napoleon he was found in a bar when he was a kitten. He is the sweetest ball of love. He always has to be with me. Next is my Dafney I found her eating out of the dumpster where I worked I would bring her food everyday from home but I still felt I wasn't doing enough. I told myself that if she fights me I will leave her because then I know she is happy but as soon as i picked her up and walked her to my car I think she knew she finally got what she dreamed of a loving home. She sat on my lap all the way home as a proud new owner of a human. She still is kind of wild but she sure is nice. My other boy Brewtus was from a litter that got dumped along with their mother at my moms house. She did the right thing and found them all homes and I took the smallest one and he has turned into the biggest cat I have. Even though he has the mind set he is still a tiny kitten. The goof ball is always carrying around his Mr. Fishy toy, even to bed with us. The newest member of our family is Snowball. She showed up at our door crying at 4 am. One of of not so lovely neighbors threw her out, she was maybe 3-4 weeks old. The poor thing was having problems going #2 so she was crying and probably was annoying them. I had to give her a drop of olive oil and she has been fine since. She is our Mini kitty only 2lbs and the cutest little thing. I love my family of cats because they are all different and all different ages which always has them playing and washing each other.

I adopted my baby girl from the local shelter, or I guess I should say she adopted me. I had been thinking about bringing a kitten into our home for a few months so I stopped at the local shelter to meet some of the homeless furballs. I was playing with a tiny kitten in one of the kennels I felt a soft tap on the top of my head. This sweet little 8-month old dilute calicao was trying to get my attention. I played with her for a minute, gave her a treat and returned my attention to the kitten in the kennel below. Cookie was very persistant and gave me another pat on my head with her paw. I started playing with her again and asked the attendant if I could take her into one of the visiting rooms. There was no doubt in my mind that Cookie was the one for me. I picked her up a few days later and took her home. She is the sweetest, most playful baby and I am so happy she picked me that day at the shelter! :)

We have two kittens that we fostered from the shelter a year ago. They came to us in a group of four. Their brother and sister were very healthy and quickly found homes. But no one had realized at the shelter the smaller two, our cats, didn't know how to eat yet because the other two would eat all the food. They were emaciated, feral and half dead. I had to force feed them and administer IVs for a month to keep them alive. They never moved from the same spot day in day out and it broke my heart and shook my confidence as a foster parent. But slowly they began to gain weight, and the first time I caught them bat at a toy was like seeing a baby take it first step. Now they are my forever kitty children and continue to improve everyday!

Our kitty's name is Gizmo and he is definitely the best kitty ever! We adopted Gizmo one year ago (today is his 1st birthday!) And ever since he has been a wonderful addition to our family. He watches us leave in the morning out of the bedroom window and when we get home he goes out on the back patio and meows when he sees us. Then, when we come inside he comes to each one of us and gives his hugs his own special way with his paws up on your shoulders. He sleeps under the covers next to me (almost under me!) like a human!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR GIZMO WE LOVE YOU!!!!

My 10 week old kitten, Kaiya, allows my 75lb German Shepherd to groom her. Poor Kaiya hates it and always winds up soaking wet when my Shepherd is done mothering her. Kaiya deserves a castle where she can give herself a royal bath to clean off all the drool.

I have two 3 year old ginger tabbies. They're brothers and their names are Tigger and Roscoe. My boys deserve a castle so they can become the princes that they're meant to be. They're big guys (16 and 19 pounds, all muscle!) and they need a space that shows off their kingdom known as my house. A great war will consume the land as the two princes fight for the right to the castle. Roscoe will chase Tigger all throughout the land. But Tigger knows exactly where to hide in order to surprise Roscoe, pounce at him, and swat at his nose. Roscoe is bigger. But Tigger is sneakier. I would love to see this war play out to see who wins! We have to know who is the true heir to the throne!

As every cat owner knows, each cat needs their own castle, but my four girls can learn to share, I hope! My little queen Dottie (16 years) was adopted from the humane society many many years ago. She put in her service at nursing homes until she was delivered to me when she was two years. This castle will be the perfect place she can retire to and live out the rest of her days.

The next ferocious feline to grace my home with her presence is CiCi, a loving little princess. However, our first meeting was not so lovely. After spending 2 hours under a Ford Mustang at my university's parking lot, I finally pulled the dirty kitten out of the engine, and she thanked me with love scratches on my face and neck.

My third daughter, Liv Tyler was quite literally at the brink of death when I found her one hot Florida morning in August, unable to walk or move her back legs altogether. She wouldn't give up though, and after feeding her by hand for three weeks, she was finally able to walk shakily and hold her head up with control.

Now, while working abroad in South Korea, Rabbit was busily crying in my apartment building stairs on a cold November morning around 3am, lost and alone no older than 3 months. My Korean cat, Rabbit (named from the lack of tail and her desire to hop everywhere), has not formally been introduced to my growing feline family, but as soon as I return to the States, I hope she will be able to relax in her own castle and enjoy the company of the royal band of sisters! (Even if this upsets my highly allergic mother, it's just a price she's going to have to pay!)

Each of my girls have treaded into heart, I was compelled to have their presence be with me at all times. Their paw prints now also tread on my body, thanks to the wonderful world of tattoos!

My story:

I discovered Denis in June 2006 awaiting adoption at a local pet store chain. He was the only adult cat amongst many kittens, and on his cage was a sign that read, "Very upset - Do not touch!" Curious, I approached a worker in the adoption program to ask how this extraordinarily large cat had come to be placed there. She told me his previous owner had adopted him from the same program several months earlier. He had been fixed, vaccinated and microchipped, but he persistently eliminated outside the litterbox and so he was returned to the shelter where he was having difficulty readjusting to his caged lifestyle.

As she stepped away to assist another customer, I walked over to his cage for another look. Despite the posted warning, I could not resist putting my fingers through the bars of the cage and stroking his head as he lay there on his back. He barely looked up or moved at all in response to my touch, as though he had already given up on finding someone who would care for him.

For the rest of the day and all of the next, I could not stop thinking about the sad, overweight kitty in the tiny cage. The following day, I called the store to find out whether anyone had shown interest in adopting him over the weekend. I spoke with the same woman who had answered my questions in the store, and she advised me that no one other than myself had inquired about him and that, while they were a no-kill shelter, due to his size and related complications (i.e. poor hygiene, frequent matting, etc.) they had no choice but to send him to be euthanized by an affiliated organization the following day. I asked if they would postpone doing so if I were to return to the store that day and adopt him, and they agreed.

Denis has been a part of my family ever since, and while I love and adore him, I can say without hesitation that there have been many times it has been trying to live with him in my home. He is currently 22 pounds, down from 30 when I adopted him on account of a strictly grain-free canned food diet, but continues to experience frequent matting and skin infections due to his inability to properly groom himself. As I am unable to find a local groomer willing to take on such a large cat with claws, I routinely have to remove large mats along his back and sides using professional grade animal clippers which I purchased online along with several books on how to groom at home.

It has been rewarding to provide a loving home for a special needs animal, as Denis is one of the kindest and most affectionate cats I have encountered, but I also must acknowledge that caring for him, at times, has proved to be trying for us both. It breaks my heart each time I have to put him through the ordeal of being bathed and shaved, knowing how stressed he becomes, and I would love to have a place for him to retreat, relax and recover once our grooming sessions are through.

I can already picture him peeking his head out from one of your lovely kitty castles and hope you will choose us!

We have 3 kitties that we adopted from the No Kill animal shelter. We have a King, a Prince and a Princess. The princess hates the King and would really prefer her own castle. The King bites her in the butt and it makes her really nervous and jumpy. She could back in and never be at risk! :-)

I have a cat named "Sugar" and it's my first time owning a cat. I have been going through a very hard time with my dad because not only did he try to commit suicide but also broke his ankle in pieces.

Why "Sugar" is so amazing ? He does not let me cry. If he sees me starting to even consider a tear, he will jump up beside me and comfort me like human being. He begans to pace back and forth watching my every move to make sure that I am okay ! Do you see how special he is ? He is truly amazing and I call him my son from another life.........He really deserves to be treated like a "King in a Castle" he makes my life much easier with his comfort.....I adore you Sugar....

Thanks.

I believe my cat "Mister" would love one of these great castles. We adopted him from a Craigslist ad that listed him as, "One-Eyed Jack." At only seven months old, he was found with a severely infected eye that was probably damaged in a fight with another animal, or human. A vet had to remove his left eye, and he was then neutered and given his shots. Not a great weekend for this feline. However, we have since been taking great care of him, and despite his distraught young life, he is very sweet; and extraordinarily grateful. He has been a great friend, and I am sure he will continue to be so all his life.

My kitty deserves the castle purely for how warm he make smy heart feel. When he is alseep and i enter a room he opens his eyes, rolls over and makes that cute little "Puurrp" noise. My heart melts. He is like my surrogate child i love him dearly. And he ha sme wrapped around his little paw!!

I have two cats both of wich were rescued. I adopted mr. bojangles when he was 3 because everyone always wants the kittens and I hate to see the old guys passed up like yesterdays news. He was found behind a shopping mall and was hurt pretty bad he had a fracture in his back leg and not mention all the fleas and such. I know he was some ones cat becuase when he was found he was fixed and the first night I brought him home the next morning I was making a sandwhich for lunch and he came running at the sound of the deli paper! I hate that some one just threw him away. I have had him for a little over a year and we rescued another kitty last year that was being abused at a local 7 eleven I saw kids hitting it with rocks so I scolded them and picked up the 5 week old kitten that I had to bottle feed back to help his name is Leo. My kitties would love this castle becasue even though I am a single mother and can not afford to buy such a thing as a kitty castle they still deserve a little break from their hard lives that they have lived so far.

Posted by: Robbi Jean | June 24, 2009 10:49 AM

My kitty was brought home from the Flea market. I cried for her & my husband gave in. She in turn LOVES my husband & literally bites the hand that feeds her! But I love her & since we brought home a rescued little dog - she spends her days trying to to stay out of the grasps of the little dog. She would so love a protected home to run to. She currently has an old box from a dishwasher we got 3 years ago! It is pretty lopsided but she still runs to it for cover!

Posted by: Christine Konicki | June 24, 2009 10:50 AM

My family adopted Sasha from an animal shelter in Alaska. Her and her sister, only a few weeks old, had been left on the front steps in a box. The people at the pound took her and her one sibling in and for the next few weeks they lived at the pound with a teddy bear with a heart beat :( Poor baby was too little to be alone in the big bad world... Eventually though we got to take her home. She has the funniest personality I have ever met. If she wants to go in the next room, she sits on her back legs and knocks with her paws. She chews dog bones. And has not consistently used her litter box in the past 9 years we've had her (We think because the pound may have spayed her too young to get rid of her and make more space). When we moved to Florida, Sasha came with and is now enjoying watching lizards and birds out the windows. But we love her to death and she really does RULE the house. Sasha deserves this award because despite her rough "childhood" she gives love and affection to all people (and a little attitude too). She IS the queen and she knows it!

I nominate Sam the Tabby to win a Kitty Castle! This amazing bundle of fur came our way 8 years ago, when his humans were breaking up. We would cat sit for Sam (as his humans would leave him for a week with newspaper and a pile of dry food while they boarded the beloved dog, who, by the way, used Sam's head as a chew toy). We had a pet cockatiel and I wanted Sam to live with us more than anything but was so afraid of stressing the bird out. While my husband and I were at work, we'd keep the bird in a locked bedroom and all was fine.

About 2 and a half years ago, Sammy wasn't looking great and our vet determined that he was suffering from hyperthyroidism. He has been on medication since, which has been working beautifully.
He's a smart one and the pills are bitter so it can be a challenge to make sure he is actually getting the pills, but his loving way and kind disposition make it all worth it.

My parents stay with us in NY during the summers and go to their condo in FL in the winter. Sam is my parents' grandcat. He pleads with them to take him "mrout" (which is what Sammy verbalizes for "outside") and they treat him like gold.

My beloved Dad died suddenly on May 22, 2009 and it has been a shock to the whole family. Having Sammy around has made all the difference in our day to day worlds. He makes sad days sunnier and makes us laugh.

Recently, Sammy was sick - throwing up and dehydrated. He spent 3 days at the vets having IV fluids. We coudln't bare the thought of losing him in top of this difficult time. Sammy pulled through, is home, and back to his old self and we coudln't be more thankful. For a 15 year old, this boy is spry and curious...and I know a Kitty Castle would brighten his spirits and help him in the way that he helps us every day.

My family took in a cat but and we were going to get her fixed/aborted because she was pregnant but my grandma's wake was scheduled for the day of her abortion so we changed it.

Its sort of ironic. Coming home from a wake to see new kittens that are new to the world and stuff.

So now they're all fixed and are running around the house doing something they probably shouldn't as I type this.

So in all honesty I think my dog deserves a doggie castle for being such a trooper when it comes to dealing with new kittens in the family at his age. :) All those sterotypes about cats and dog not getting along in the media is bull. :)

We rescued to beautiful cats, Briscoe and Curtiss, 8 years ago. While they would both love a kitty castle, I'll explain Briscoe's, our princess's case. She was born with a heart murmur that turned out to be Hypertrophic Cardiac Myopathy (HCM). We were told she would not live to 7. With the aid of a wonderful cat cardiologist, yearly ultrasounds, and daily medicine, Briscoe is our miracle kitty. Most of her disease has reversed itself, and she's doing great. The most wonderful thing is how she takes her medicine. Every night when we shut off the TV for bed, Briscoe waits in the middle of the floor for me to give her her pills. She just opens her mouth and takes them like a champ. How is it possible that we haven't gotten her a castle before? She deserves one!

I have two cats named Princess Sophia and Crawl the Warrior King, what appropriate names for a castle! Both cats love to play with my yellow lab, and I even believe they think they're dogs. My cats are the loves of my life, but me and the dog could both use the break while they lounge in thier new castle :)

Hi, I have 11 cats living at home, each one with different needs that means a lot of time consuming. However, I more than enjoy being in their company as I'm sure they love being in mine :) I would like to comment about the affective needs one of them has, Moe is his name. Recently he had been operated and has been quite down for the last weeks but that hasn't taken away his urge to play with 'my teddy', his toy pal! The curious thing that he does is hide mr teddy on top of the fridge and then starts howling for you to get it to afterwards hand it over to him wherever he might be. He must love the procedure as he does it quite a few times a day and it makes me think that despite the pain he must be enduring lately, at least mr teddy keeps him at ease! Some of the other cats don't care about toys but they do indeed have a profound fascination with playing inside a card box I just got them (funny enough just a few hours before reading about this commpetition!) I's curious how the silliest of items can give so much pleasure and game to my kitties!

My kitty is loveingly waiting each day for me to return home from work.....always happy to see me :-)

Anjo only has 3 legs after a car hit him, but is still 100% cat and deserves a castle to nap and play in.

Saki insisted on helping me write this comment so she could critique my writing... she says she really wants this house! She adopted us 4 years ago and has went through 2 kitty houses because she choose not to be de-clawed and likes to practice her scratching skills:) Saki is not particularly social and has her usual hideaways when visitors come over and this would be a great addition to her under cover secret locations to hide. She is quite the control freak though and would probably insist on directing he exactly how to decorate it. Could make for some good mommy and daughter time!

portia is 18yrs old on my 46th birthday on 27th june. she has been my companion since she was 8 weeks old. i got her and 11 other kittens that had been abandoned, i found homes for the others but fell in love with her. i believe if it wasnt for her, i wouldnt have survived this long. she is the only thing constant in my life. my mental health goes from being ok to suicidal but she reminds me to stay. she is the only thing that keeps me here. without her my life is pointless. i love her more than anything or anyone. my portia is a princess and deserves her own castle.

Let me tell you something about my babies story.. I've always like cats and during all my life I've been enjoying of their company by havind one or two at the time.. Musty and her daughter Misty were making my life better six years ago, but unfortunatly Musty died.. a couple of months latter i found at the front door of my house 4 kittys, and i just couldn't resist to them, so i decided to made them part of my family, and passed from having in home 1 cat to 5, and i was so happy.. but then, things started to happend.. i'm pretty sure my neighbors must know how much i love cats, because during all that same year many kittys started to "misteriosly" appear in front of my door.. and i just couldn't let the on the street so i took them inside of the house.. the number of cats got to 20.. i did what i could, feed them, took em to the vet.. they were really fine, playing with each other and climbing in the threes of the backyard.. bot i just couldn't have them all, it was a lot of money.. thank God the vet told me about this new assosiation for homeless animals, were they find them a new home, and they helped me really kindly with the situation.. i thank them every day..
by the day of today i have 7 cats, Felina, Camila, Cuchi, Bugambilia, Donatella, Pistache and Misty, they are almost the same age, around 5 and 6.. everyone but Misty, remember her? i talked about her in the begining or this story.. she's 14 years old.. and i know this process it's been really hard for her, because she used to be the queen of the house, and she must think that now i have to split my love into 7.. but in my heart she will always be the queen of the house and of our family.. that's why i'm sure that Misty would be the perfect queen for this kitty castle.. and in case we don't get it, she will always have my bed =)

My family and I have one cat, named Dixon. He was a "give away" cat. We welcomed him into our home with an older dog who's very easy going. They got along amazing. Years later, we introduced a new puppy and Dixon always seemed to feel left out and became quite grumpy with all of us. He's very finicky and that's just his personality.. he is also very sweet and loveable on his own time. Just a few weeks ago, our older dog had to be put to sleep. Since then, he's taken up being an older brother to our youngest dog that once, he wasn't so fond of. He has an amazing kitty heart and I think this Kitty Castle would be a great gift to show our appreciation.

My cat Murray is my best friend and has been with me through so really horrible times and always new when I was suffering and was there to love me. He is 15 years old and you would never know it to look at him. Last year my other cat Sammy died of a congenital heart condition. The week prior to his death Murray never left his side and snuggled up close to keep him warm. This was not usually how they behaved since boy cats and they played rough all the time. Then when I had Sammy cremated and brought the urn home. Murray laid in front of it and would not let anyone come near it except for me. Show his love and devotion and understanding.

Hello! I'm Mackie! I'm about 4 years old and a rescue from a local shelter where my my dad's mother used to work. I was always the kitty rubbing up against the cage and wanting someone to pet me. I didn't want to be in that cage:( since that day I have been in the loving home of my mom and dad! I have been through alot. I lost my big brother kitty Datsun to a neurological disorder and was very sad about that. I haven't been able to warm up to any other cats since then. I have created safe havens in the most bizarre places. My favorite is way on top of my parent's old mattresses that are standing upright in the spare bedroom!!!! I spend most of my days scaling up and down those things!!! Hence, the reason why my parents haven't gotten rid of them yet:) I also like to climb on top of my dad's guitar amps and sleep there. They always take pictures of me when I do that:) I bet if I had a castle my parents could finally unclutter our spare room and my dad could get back his music gear:) MEOW!

We just got our cat a few months ago. She is a little black cat with yellow eyes. There is a huge story behind how we got her so i will shorten it up a little. That same day we found her, my dad had to euthanize a little black kitten with pale yellow eyes. It had gotten run over in the street and had internal bleeding. So we had to put it to sleep. Right after my dad euthanized the kitten my mom called about a little black kitten crying so much at Macy's! We went over there about an hour after my mom called and saw the kitten traumatized in a crack. We ran after her until we got her in a box. Now she's a sweet little kitten. She falls asleep on our lapps, she tackles our feet, she licks our noses!! We don't know much about cats and I saw this Castle and I think it would be perfect for Scout.(her name I don't think I've mentioned yet) Shes still afraid of our dogs and the dogs are still really excited to meet her so we have to keep them in seperate rooms. I think the castle would be a great hide out fro her!

Three years ago I adopted a female black and white tuxedo cat. We named her Bagheera, which means panther in Hindi. She was the world of my boyfriend and I by being our companion and making us laugh with her humorous personality. She really did own us, because we pampered her like a queen. Not even thinking about getting another cat to keep her company, we came across an abandoned kitten in a nearby bush on a walk one day. His cry touched us, and our hearts took him in immediately, he was extremely ill and was embedded with at least a dozen ticks. We slowly nursed him back to health, and he eventually warmed up to us. He was extremely skiddish and eventually grew to love Bagheera and love us. We named him Rajah, which is the name of a King in India. We named him this because of his will to survive. He sits at our feet and protects us as a sphinx would, and we love both of our cats dearly. They are best friends, and we love them dearly. Although we pamper our cats, we believe they deserve even more, because they are our children and children deserve the best! :-)

I've always loved cats, but always been allergic to them. Seven years ago, I found Teddy in my building; he's the snuggliest of kitties, and I'm not allergic to him. And his owners never responded/saw my posters.... Six months later, I found Lizzie, in my building. She was a mess and the only shelter that would take her was a kill shelter, so with red, tearing eyes, I kept her. She isn't proportioned as she should be because her growth was effected by malnutrition, her tongue was gray when I found her, she's missing most of her teeth, has food allergies and suffers from anxiety; but she is the sweetest kitty. She loves to give kisses and have her belly rubbed, and she rules the house! But she doesn't like to sleep out in the open, so a little castle would be the perfect place for my Queen Lizzie to sleep!

I think my parents cat Samson needs this castle. He's a burmese and such a big softie. Problem is I have a female Himalayan Tinkerbell who does nothing but stalk him and beat him up. He needs his own place where he can go and hide when she is around. The poor guy quickly runs past her whenever she is around hoping she wont touch him, or looks around to make sure the path is free. Please help this lil guy out, he needs a safe place to hide from the big bully.

Betty certainly is a princess. She's a compulsive cleaner with the thickest, most beautiful coat I've ever seen on a cat, and she looks up at me expectantly for fresh food and water every time she eats. She also demands to share the milk of my cereal every morning. Sometimes I forget she's not even a cat, she communicates so well. I talk to her, and she responds...she's quite the good listener, but maybe not always the best obeyer. I ask her "Do you want to go take a nap? And she'll jump up with a smile on her face (as much as a cat can smile, I guess) and sing "Brrrrrowl!" and run ahead of me to jump on my bed. Or if I ask "Do you want to take a shower?" She'll jump up again with another enthousiastic mix of purr and meow and run to the bathroom, happy to bask in the steam and drink from the drip of the faucet.

I've known Betty since she was a newborn, and I've had her half my life. Her youth and vitality still prevails, as she plays with every mouse toy, bug, and pen in sight. She used to be so shy, especially when she lived with other animals. The diva she is prefers to be the only pet, however. She makes it known that I am her human, and I've never felt more loved than anybody else in the world.

She deserves more than her hot pink collar decked out with a fabulous bow or her expensive food dishes...I know she would love an expansion to her current castle (my house) by having one a little more her size. Her kingdom will expand and she will reign as no longer Princess, but Queen Betty, beloved ruler of her entire kingdom.

Fiona is my feline best friend. A friend of mine found her 11 years ago, along with 4 of her brothers and sisters in a trash can, covered up, crying. She rescued all of them, but kept Fiona for herself.

6 years ago this friend of mine had a baby, who was born severely allergic to cats & dogs. She had to find quick forever homes for her 2 cats and dog so I helped. I found homes for the male cat & male dog, but not Fiona. After 3 weeks of trying, she one day decided to jump up in my lap and stare at me with her big green emerald eyes, place her paws on my chest and gave me a look that says "I LOVE YOU, PLEASE KEEP ME" The rest was history. We've been happily best friends for 6 years now and she's my pride and joy! She is the first to greet me in the morning, the first to welcome me home from a long day, the first to meow at me that it's bed time.

Fiona has been successfully living with hyperthyroidism. She's on medication twice daily and is still so agreeable and sweet regardless of constant blood tests and medicine changes. She truly is deserving of a Princess title and thusly a house to fit her status. :)

My feline sister, Misty, is eight years old this year. Every single morning, without fail, for the last seven of those years, she has insisted on following at my heels to wait for the taxi at the end of the path. In a morning she is waiting for me to be ready so that she can go outside with us and wait. Normally, she's an indoor cat, but the path is fenced in and she has never once strayed from near to us.

She is the best, sweetest, most tolerant creature I know, and that's why she deserves a treat. :)

I brought them home after they had been dumped near my friends house feral and neglected. During the first 2 weeks with me they hid in the closet by day, only coming out to eat drink and explore while we were asleep at night. Now, 6 years later, they are happy, secure, fun and loving-but only with me and my kids! They don't trust too many people, but they are still the best kitties in the world and I thank goodness for them everyday. They have helped me as much as I them and I wouldn't trade them for anything! Buzz Trumpet and Sesame Eggroll--here's to you! You deserve the whole KIngdom!

Spare a thought for Patrick, a 5 year old enormous ginger FIV rescue cat. Patrick lives with Soldier-Blue, a 10 year old grey tabbey, also FIV rescue, Splodge - rescue kitten and two mad rescue yorkshire terriers called Mabel and Ernie. Patrick wants to be the dominant male. He feels it is his right to be the most important man in the house. However, no one else is prepared to show him the respect he deserves and he has been usurped from this role by every single cat in the house. The last insult was Splodge the kitten, a 6 month old upstart found living wild in a local garden. She pounces on his tail when he is asleep, eats his food when he is not looking and is trying to steal his human's pillow first thing in the morning. Patrick has had enough! It is time to fight back. He feels that he has suffered enough and would like a kitty castle to bring across the point that everyone is missing....

Patrick IS king of the castle.

My cat Tigger is my best friend. He is a beautiful orange tabby who is very playful and affectionate. He deserves to have the best. I adopted him from a farm and he became part of the family at once. Since my husband is gone during the week, he keeps me company when I am sad. I don't know what I would do without him right now.

princess pyewacket came to live with us around 12 years ago when her previous owners moved some place that cats weren't allowed. from the very first day she took her place as ruler of the house, so it would be just fitting for her to have her own castle.

if she wins i hope that she would allow her 'brother', prince dolphin to share. we found him in the street around 10 years ago, all thin, eating an old potato in the gutter. since then he's been our loyal friend.

All of our cats have been rescues, whether they be from the streets or a shelter, we have always taken them in. We currently have 2 cats, and one of them in particular, Lego, has has an especially difficult time. We discovered him after he became a frequent visitor at our house during the Winter of 1994 when we had an ice storm that shutdown our area for 3 days straight. We made him a "home" inside one of our window wells with blankets and put a board above the hole to keep the warmth in. Suffice to say, he became an indoor cat after that and vowed to never be thin again. About a year ago, he was diagnosed with diabetes and has to be on insulin (like myself) for the rest of his life. He recently had a bad reaction and suffered a seizure and was rushed to an animal hospital. The Vet told us that he may never recover from such an episode due to his age and his medical condition. Despite all odds, he did, even though he probably only has a couple of his nine lives left. He is believed to be 19 years old which makes him the not only the oldest, but the luckiest, cat we have ever had. He is such a loveable cat and even purrs when you give him his shot. We are so glad to have him in our lives and know we have given him the best life he could ever have.

I'd like to see our orange tabby, Willie, be the recipient of a kitty castle. Willie is nearly 20 years old and originally came to us from the street. He was in such bad shape 18 or so years ago that the SPCA even suggested he might not be put up for adoption so as far as we were concerned he was coming home with us in spite of the fact we lived with 4 other cats. Now, years later, Willie is somewhat arthritic but he gets along in his own way. What makes Willie unique besides his incredible personality (he likes to trumpet his arrival through the cat door) and his will to survive (he's made the trip across the country twice while were moved for work) is the fact of his knowling exactly what he wants. At the beginning of every summer he makes his trek across the back alley to sit for the three months of summer on the neighbour's front porch where there is plenty of activity to be seen on the street. Once a week, he comes home, checks in and has a nap on the bed. Then, he's gone again. We bring food to the neighbour's for him during the summer months and we can always tell when the season is going to change because Willie makes his migration across the alley to home where in the fall, the gas fireplace is lit and his mat awaits him. Willie is cat who knows what he wants and we think that being pampered in his senior years is what he deserves because sooner or later, the trek across the alley may not be feasible for him. He's a very loving cat yet a strong-minded individual. Willie knows what he wants and we honour that in accordance with his seasonal preferences.

I have rescued three animals: Jack, Thor and Finn. Jack, my adult male cat, was my first and only companion for years until my fiance and I decided to adopt Thor, little rascally male kitten. Jack tolerated Thor and has grown to love him but we recently also rescued Finn, our enormous, boisterous Parvo puppy from a ranch in LA. And although he means well, he is just too big and too young for Jack's liking. Since the arrival of Finn, Jack who has access to pup-free parts of the house but who is very social, has spent more and more time on the couch or in crannies of our house inaccessible to Finn. His social nature comes out mainly at night now when Finn is sleeping. It would be truly life-altering for Jack to have a place to call his own, free from the attentions of an over-exuberant puppy yet still within the line of sight of the rest of his family.

My cat, Yoda, is 2 years old and his whole little world turned upside down. When we adopted him, he and his brother were almost dead, but thanks to the spca they were nurtured and are healthy. When we got him he had a massive eye infection and still gets them quite often but that's the bulk of it and we're thankful because we know it could be worse. Yoda has grown comfy in our house but in the next few months the cat who hates change will have to put up with a lot. My husband, who is active duty, is going to Korea for a year and that is Yoda's best friend. They snuggle, and when Matt is away little Yoda's life crumbles. He's a daddies boy no doubt about it. He also hates to travel but when my husband leaves we are driving 14 hours to my parents house in Indiana. Then, once my husband is back, we are moving to Italy or England, all of which include a ton of testing for him and a 12-15 hour plane ride and possible quarintene. And to top it all off he is on the brink of diabetes our vet says, we're praying with a little weight off it goes away so fingers crossed. He's a wonderful kitty and had a rocky start in life and deserves everything we can offer him because he does make our life better. Thanks!

I got my cat less than a month after my childhood cat passed away from a stroke - we always say he was meant to be. I got my cat when he was only a kitten. I work at a veterinary hospital and a woman came in with this tiny kitten. He was found approximately two weeks after his mother and siblings had been captured. He was the smallest little kitten and had ringworm, parasites, and fleas. He was treated and is now one extremely spoiled little cat, but he hasn't forgotten his past. He is still petrified of the outdoors. However, he is the most trusting and sweet cat in the world...he loves everybody! After everything he has been through, I feel he deserves a "kitty castle" of his own. He only deserves the best!

My cat, SIC, deserves to be king of this castle, because he's been through a lot. I rescued him from a shelter when he was 14 weeks old. At such a young age, he had already been badly abused by his previous "caretakers". This year on June 10th, we just celebrated his 8th birthday! He's got a urinary disease, and has been in the hospital twice. the 2nd time he was in the hospital, he went into cardiac arrest while being put under anestesia. His little sister who just turned 6 months old deserves to be the princess of the castle. We rescued her when she was 6 months old. Her mom's "caretakers" abandoned her while she was pregnant, during the extremely harsh Washington state winter. Her name is Nala, and she's really put up with a lot from Sic. He's stubborn, and a big bully to her sometimes. She serves a big helping of attitude right back to him though. The cats are already royalty in our house, and now they just need an actual castle to reign over. :)

I have had my darling Leopold for a little over a year now, since he was abandoned at about two weeks old. I spent the first two months bottle feeding him and nursing him back to health, fighting malnutrition and some dehydration from his previous situation, as well as severe nasal congestion. He loves the outdoors more than anything, and has always been leashed trained. During the first few months I had him I learned that he has a rare case that leaves him allergic to grass. He can still visit the outdoors, but for short periods of time, while avoiding contact with any grass or plants. Because of this I have tried to make the best indoor area I possibly can, to keep my precious baby entertained, as well as having places all his own to sleep, hide, and play. I feel this castle would be the perfect addition to Leopold's world, and would help him stay entertained while I am at work and school.

I am owned by six lovely cats, four of which are at the dawn of their "golden years". They really need a nice, relaxing castle to retire in; especially for my three-legged cat Sophie. It has been a hard knock life for the sweetie and she deserves to be pampered in her senior years.

A couple of years ago, my parents and I were in our backyard, and we found this little kitten crying in the tree. The kitten fell down (luckily the tree wasn't that tall) and came over to see what we were doing. We had been seeing it around for a while and decided to bring it inside. We moved recently and still had some boxes left, so we got a big box, some blankets, and put the kitten inside. We had some food because we already had a cat, and let it eat a little. We didn't find a tag, and so, we put up flyers to see if it belonged to anybody. A month had gone by, and nobody had claimed her, so we decided to keep her. We named her "Mittens", because she was all black with little wite paws that looked like mittens. I personally thougth it was a stupid name, but my mom liked it. Mittens has been a member of our family now for just over 3 years. She's not the cuddliest of cats, but she'll come around to see what's up every now and then. Usually she sleeps under the stairs on a whole bunch of old blankets. She makes then really furry. She sheds everywhere all the time, but we still love her. She's big and...fluffy. Unfortunately our other cat passed away after a month of Mittens. She's really nice, and...I'm done now.

We adopted our 4 year old male tabby from the SPCA 2 years ago. He was the only cat at the shelter in a room full of baby kittens. I just knew he and I would be great companions... I myself was adopted at 3 and 1/2, well past the cute baby stage. We call him Buddha Baby since he is always living in the moment and became a wonderful protector, teacher and friend as we adopted 2 more beautiful cats (Sam and Gremlin) a year back. He is the king of our house and is the glue that keeps our family together. I would love to see his face when he realized this kitty castle was for him!

I have four cats that are officially my companions, but two more have adopted me. I keep food outside so that "Felix" and "Butler" can also have regular meals. The four that are mine are all rescue cats--one was rescued from the middle of the road as people just drove right by...or OVER her. I have a one income househould really and I have become a haven for unwanted animals, all of whom are spoiled and loved and cared for as though they are my own children. I think Willow, Arwen, Abbey, and Loki would love a kitty castle to call their own, giving them a reprieve from the three rescue dogs that also call my house their home.

I've always had cats in the family. We had our family pets Frisky and Sage, then my sister's cat Phoebe, and I've had my rescue cat, Rambo, for almost ten years. We've been through a lot together, but one of the most special moments was when we brought the cats to visit my mother at the hospice when she was in the late stages of cancer. She passed away a few days later, but I know that having her cats and grand-cats there helped to ease her pain and put a smile on her face. I still think of that visit every time I use her favorite blanket, a fleece with kittens printed on it.

My father has always wanted a cat since he moved over from England, but our family never actually got one. I started horse riding with someone who owned 3 cats, and every time my dad would pet them while he was waiting for me to finish. Soon it came to the day before fathers day and I was out riding. When I came to the barn I saw my dad snuggled up with one of the cats and he looked so at home. Later that day I asked my mom if we could get a cat for my dad. We ended up with two beautiful kittens, Simba and Nala, who we rescued from the humane society. My dad was so happy about the kittens, he has even let Nala sit on his desk chair with him. These kittens deserve to be pampered because no one knows what went on before they were rescueed.

Olive was rescued from the streets of Columbia, Maryland. She had a kitten in tow. While her rescuer spayed her and kept her safe, Olive was kept alone in a small room in the basement for two years. For a feral cat that was used to her freedom and her own rules, this must have been excruciating. After my special needs cat reached the end of the line, I was able to bring Olive home where she has the run of the house, birdfeeders in the windows for entertainment and two other cats to socialize with (sort of - Olive is still learning social skills). Olive deserves a Kitty Castle

i got my kitty 5 months back from a coworker who was gonna give her and her brother away to a humane society. my kittys name is gravy and she lost her brother a couple months back. i believe she deserves the world and even though the death has inpacted her emotionally she is starting to get back to her old playful self. i would give anything to see her active again and the kitty castle could give her that jumpstart she needs. im starring at her now and she is the darnest thing but what cat isnt.

We brought home a new family member on June 1st and have scarcely seen her since. Madeline is a rescue cat, and even though her new home is safe and loving, she still is afraid to emerge from under the bed. Maybe if she had a castle she could retreat to, she could get out from under the bed and expand her horizons a bit.

I have four cats, but I need the Kitty Castle for the one that receives all the smacks from the other cats. Not sure what he's done to deserve it, but he definitely needs a place to hide where he can feel good about himself :-)

Noah was with a cluster of other kittens when I first met him at the shelter. He came to the edge of the cage where I placed my purse and acted like he wanted to dig out and jump in. I knew he was the one.

I had to wait a week because they wouldn’t let me take him home without being neutered. When I came to get him, the vet took me aside and said they were going to put him to sleep because he wouldn’t eat and they thought something was wrong with his spinal cord (he kept slipping in the cage, which had a steel surface). She then told me that she’d already talked to the shelter and I can go pick out another kitten, free of charge.

I wasn’t going to be that easily swayed and I asked to see him. Noah clawed up to the top of my shirt and clung on for dear life—literally. The vet was surprised and said that maybe the jewel on my necklace caught his attention.

I asked if I could take him home and bring him back in two weeks. She didn’t want to, but let me anyway. He started eating right away, bouncing around, and acting like a typical kitten. After two weeks, I took him back and they couldn’t believe he was the same cat, saying that the spinal-thing must have been a fluke.

I’ve now had Noah for eleven years and he’s the best friend I’ve ever had. He definitely deserves his own throne!

After my mom's cat (and only companion for years) died unexpectedly, my mom refused to get a new cat. She was very sad but insisted that when the time was right the cat would come to her. A few months later, her and I were doing some shopping while we were driving past an animal shelter. I told her that I was really in the mood to go see the animals. To my surprise she agreed to stop and look. We instantly made a beeline to the cats. There were cute kittens, and noisy adult cats. We saw lots that looked playful and fun. Finally we came to a cat that was neither playful, cute, fun or noisy. He was a huge orange-yellow long haired tom cat with eyes that matched his fur. Unlike the other cats who were clamoring for attention, he looked at us calmly and seemed to demand respect. The woman helping us told us that people didn't want him because of his standoffish attitude and because they thought his eyes were creepy. If someone didn't take him soon he'd be put to sleep. Something drew us to him and no matter how fun or cute the other cats seemed, he was the cat that felt right for my mom. And what made it truly seem like fate was the fact that his name was Marmaduke. There was a book character my family loved named Marmaduke and we had always said that would be a great name for a big orange cat. Without any hesitation my mom made the necessary arrangements to take Marmaduke home. He has been the king of my mom's house ever since. It turns out he isn't as standoffish as everyone thought he was, he's just more dignified than most cats. Fate seemed to have a hand in bringing my mom and him together.

Hi, my name is Amy and I would like to introduce you to my amazing cats Casey & Jody.
I bought them from a local rescue group called C.A.R.S.
I first saw Casey at a local pet store, C.A.R.S. brought pets that were looking for homes. It was love at first sight. I grew up in a small town with lots of animals and have always had a soft spot for all God's creatures. Casey is a big guy for a cat, he also has a broken tale which he probably got when he was just a kitten. Casey had been rescued from an elderly lady in a small single wide mobile and she was not able to take care of the 50+ cats she had. I brought him home on my birthday (the best present ever), it took awhile but he warmed up to me. When he was younger I taught him how to play fetch, just like a dog. He's 3 now and he doesn't fall for the fetch game anymore, he probably thinks it's beneath him. He also doesn't like to drink out of his water dish, so I have to turn on the bathroom faucet. My water bill has taken a few beatings, but if Casey likes it I don't mind.
After about a year I decided it was time to get Casey a friend. So I once again called the amazing people at C.A.R.S. And fell in love with a tabby named Jody. Jody was also a rescue and was found in the ceiling of a school. She is crosseyed which only adds to her silly disposition. Her and Casey have a good time chasing each other up & down the stairs. They both sleep with me at night, Jody like to burrow under the covers and always has to lay right next to me. Casey sleeps on the pillow next to mine and Jody pretty much hogs the rest. I have had many uncomfortable nights but I don't want to wake her up and move her. So I just deal with it. Again, I taught Jody how to fetch, she never seems to get bored with it. Every morning Jody wakes me up by licking my face, as if saying "get up, it's time to play". I give them tuna every once in a while in small tuperware dishes and one morning I woke up with one on my pillow. One of them dragged it all the way up stairs and onto my pillow. I guess they wanted some more tuna.
I'm 30 yrs old, not married and have no children. So my cats are my world and would do anything to protect them.
I hope you enjoyed this small glimpse into our life.
sincerly,
Amy, Casey and Jody

I have 10 kings and 2 queens residing in the castle. I have a TNR (trap-neuter-return) non-profit and cat rescue org. My royalty are all 2 years old now. Two summers ago I had an FIP outbreak with the kittens I was taming and trying to find homes for. A couple kittens that I found homes for passed away before I knew there was an outbeak so I decided since they couldn't be adopted because of the possible disease and since I couldn't kill them that I would take responsibility for the last 10 kittens that possibly had been exposed. And they all lived. And then I picked up 2 more kings along the way.
My kitties deserve a castle because their mommy is always busy trapping cats, relocating cats, taking care of cats, trying to raise money for cats, trying to finds safe homes for feral cats to be reolcated, etc etc.

My roomate Lola would love this castle, as she would consider it a formal acknowledgement of her place in the apartment. I adopted Lola about a year ago, when I kept finding mouse friends in my apartment and I adopted her because she was a playful curious girl (although not so cuddly/friendly) - she was 'returned' to the animal rescue league only a few days after being adopted!

A year later, she's really opened up to me and coming home to her chirping "hello mama" is the best part of my day!

Plus, her name when I adopted her was Princess!

We..the cats pretty much think they are the Kings and Queens around here..why not a castle?..They are all abandoned cats that we have taken in..and now just part of the family. The vet down the road even gave us a discount to get them spayed if we brought them all in on one day...so no more unwanted kitties from this little group!

Here is why our cat Gigi should win the kitty castle. First, he is a cat and there really is no explanation for why cats should have castles; it's just a given. Second, his privacy is critical to his having a good day. Even though my son has been stripped of his favorite blanket so it can be folded just right on a trunk on which Gigi will sleep, or my daughter's favorite black sweater has been carelessly thrown on a chair upon which Gigi might make another bed for a mid-day nap, even though my daughter is dieing to wear that sweater. And even though my middle daughter is Gigi's rightful companion and, if my daughter is not up by a certain time every morning to let him wander the backyard before too much sunlight disturbs his privacy, he will lie so close to her face on her pillow that she moves and relinquishes ownership of the pillow, rightly so, to Gigi. He knows his place. It's anywhere. And he knows the pecking order in our home: Gigi, my children, and me. I deserve a castle, but I know Gigi would be a perfect ruler over this one.

I rescued my kitties at about 6 weeks of age from the middle of a 365 acre winery. I noticed that they were "special" when the mother brought them over (at about 4 weeks) to the little restaurant located in the winery. They are now 3 years old. They are blind (since birth), have what I like to call the "kitty version of IBS," and Tabby has been through a couple bouts of hospitalization. While Grey is seemingly healthy (minus the IBS and lack of sight), Tabby has seen it all. He went through a terrible bout of fatty liver disease, but succumbed all odds with only a 10% chance of survival. He has gone from barely 6 pounds to a whopping 18 pounds in the past year. As for the blindness, they get around just fine, but still bump into things on occasion and are a bit skiddish, as would be expected. They have gone from itty bitty malnourished kittens with a very slim chance of survival to living the life of spoiled "mama's boys." As for their brothers and sisters, they all found loving homes. Unfortunately, their mother left us, shortly after bringing her young to me, with a nasty case of FIP.

They are my little spoiled princes and would love to share a castle.

I think I wrote too much. Haha...sorry about that. I just love my babies...

I have three adopted kitties and they are all deserving of such a castle, but perhaps none more than little Eggy.

When we got her from the shelter, she was labeled special needs because she was deaf. The second I saw her she rubbed her little head on me and I fell in love.

After adopting her, we learned she had parasites. Shortly thereafter we learned she had ringworm, something she passed on to her new kitty brother.

Because of her rough early life (she was 6 months when she was found as a stray), she is rather small, but is the sweetest cat you could ever meet.

And you know what? She hears fine. I think it was maybe a case of her being afraid at the shelter and them not taking the time to understand why she was not responding to their "clap" hearing test.

Eggy would be a pretty princess in this castle, although when she is in it, I would certainly miss her being in my lap! She is the kind of kitty that just brightens your day.

If I won this wouldn't be for me (I have a dog), but I would give it to my brother-in-law and his family. They have a wonderful cat who just turned 12 and survived cancer treatment. He also lost his companion when their other cat passed away last year. I think he definitely deserves some pampering!

I have two babies that are both rescues Prince Kohl and Princess P-nut! We have had to move a few times in the last couple of years and we have finally found a home that suites us all! We have been through many hardships in the past few years but not once did I ever give up on them nor them me..they are my prince and princess as I lovingly refer to them..they deserve a place to call their own that can travel with us! In May we will have to move again and it woudl be nice to always have a lil piece of home for them to be comfortable in..:) Good luck to all and I am so happy to see all the love for our furry (and some not so furry) friends! Keep up the great work PETA!

There was a little boy with a big black cat named Lion. "Why do you call the cat Lion, you wouldn`t call a snake Mouse or a dog Fox!" But the boy didn`t want to tell the people what it was about. He knew that Lion was king of the cats and there for deserved a royal name, but he also knew that people would laugh at him, if he would have told them. Prove to us that he is king of the cats, they would say, and it couldn`t be proved just felt. The boy felt that Lion was less his cat than he was his boy and he liked the thought of being a cat`s son.

I'm looking over all the other kitty stories and they might deserve the castle more than my giant Maine Coon cat Marshall. He's not a prince or a king...instead (as my disgusted boyfriend has said numerous times) Marshall is a princess. He's a delightful, intelligent, and (yes) spoiled cat that should have a section of my tiny apartment all to himself. You know, besides his "toy corner" and "food station".

If nothing else, Marshall should have a castle as a reminder that he won't be given up for a third time and as a thank you for turning his owner (me) vegetarian.

I've had my owner kitty Uma since she was a baby. I got her out of a batch of kittens when she crawled in to my lap and decided that I would be her bed from now on. But when she was around 1 she got out in the evening time to go munch on some grass when she was brutally attacked by a coyote. When I heard her screaming, I ran outside and bolted after the coyote, who by that time had grabbed Uma by the head, putting it entirely in his mouth and turned the corner in my apartment complex. I ran after him with little hope that she was still alive or that I would ever even see her again. After some frantic searching I was about to give up, when I saw her bloody and wet, sitting on someone else's staircase. Overwhelmed with joy, I picked her up and hurried her home. When I took her to the vet, there was no visible trauma, which means she wasn't covered in her blood and that she ultimately beat up the coyote. But she didn't get away without injury, she had brain trauma and couldn't close her eyes for weeks because her brain was swollen. Ever since that night she can't stand to be picked up, and is always trying to hide in little spaces. It's been four years since the incident, and although she hasn't been the same in certain respects, she still lives a happy and very chubby life. Because of her love for little places of her own to get away from the scary world at times, I think my little survivor coyote beating up kitty deserves her bravery to be honored in a castle.

My girl Ally deserves the Kitty castle for several reasons. Ally was found on a busy intersection in NYC and was brought into my home as a kitten. Now Ally is the only girl cat in a house of 4 other boys. Ally prefers to be on her own and sometimes get frustrated by the presence of her 4 male companions. She occasionally urinates in the house and there really isn't much I can do about it. My parents get upset about the urination but they would never let her go. the 4 boys are all rescues and I cannot let any of them go either. I think Ally will appreciate the privacy she will receive from the kitty castle. She of course will get first dibs on it, and she can share the castle with them, but only if she wants to.

I've adopted 7 cats, over time, and have loved them more than anything. We currently have 2 females that are not really happy about having 3 siblings and one is plucking her fur out. If we knew our situation would create stress on her, we would not have taken her from her situation, we would have tried to find her a better home...anyway, we absolutely LOVE her and can't give her up now. She deserves a place of her own in our home to escape the never-ending-playtime of our other cats. I have never seen a cat-castle and think is is perfect for our Miss Chito. We donate to our local Humane Society and if we ever saw something like that there we would definately purchase one. I think it would be a great way to raise money for the local Humane Societys!!

My family has six cats: Pheobe, Adolf, Woolsey, Vladimir, Natasha, and Murray. Pheobe was an abandoned cat that my sister brought home. Pheobe and her brother were very close and when he died, she got really sad. She is 14 years old. Adolf, Woolsey and Murray are all brothers from the same litter. They are each 11 years old, lately they have been very sick and going through a hard time with each of their sickness and growing up. Vladimir and Natasha came from the same cat shelter. Vladimir is 10 years old and Natasha is 8. They each deserve a cat castle because without our cats, I would have the wort life EVER! My cats are my heroes, I would do anything for them-other then cleaning the box, brushing, and an occasional bath... They have gone through SO much and really deserve this! They have never had a cat-bed or a scrath post, that most cats normally do, because we have not been able to afford them with so many cats. They would love it!

My cat Friskie completely deserves a new kitty bed because, My cat just got out of the animal vet for getting shot. I have a really bad neihbor, who does not like animals so she shot poor Friskie when he wodered on to her property. He got really sick from an infection from the bullet and was so weak he could not walk, it was so awful. He needs a nice new home to lounge in since he can't go outside as often as he used t:(

I read several of the comments. Very sad how some of the kitties have been mistreated in the past.
I'm happy to say, my kitty Ophie has a very happy life. Aside from not getting as many treats as she wants, or not being let outside when she wants, or me throwing her off my basket with clean warm laundry. At my other place, she did have an occasional run-in with another cat, who was mean to her and would interrupt her prowling around in the bushes and send her hiding inside. And at my current residence, my roommate has a cat who is happy to have a friend, which Ophie considers harassment when he tries to be nice. So as you can see, she has a nice life.
And my roommate's cat, Thor, he's pretty spoiled too. Aside from having to share his climbing tree with my cat, and being the victim of a few random "run by" swattings from my cat (and he returns the favor), he has a good life too.

They make a good pair, they work together to increase the amount of treats dispensed and teach each other bad habits. They are king and queen. Giving them a castle will most definitely go to their heads, but I'm willing to take that chance (so is my room mate)

Once shelter adoptees a few hours short of anesthesia, Lucky and Thumbs are now queen and king of our household, and so far we have not been able to provide them with sleeping quarters adequate for their aristoCATic - I mean, aristocratic - standing. So far, not quite right for a real queen and king, they are using the servants' bed - occupied by my husband and I.

Often when I wake up at night, I find my husband awake, ready to go to bathroom, but unable to do so, because he does not want to wake our royal masters.

They would love their new palace, finally a place that is adequate for our royal couple!

My kitties are two sisters who were found in a box as kittens by the side of the road. I was 4 years old when my family adopted them, due to my persuasions. Even though they are old now, I still love them as much as the first day I saw them. However, one of them now has advanced hyperthyroidism, and she requires a lot of extra care and costly medicine. I get up early every morning to feed her extra and give her the medicine. She also begs more for food and, let's just say, her litter box is filled more often and is smellier. However, I continue to care for her and love her, and I feel bad knowing that she has this disease. She deserves to be pampered, as does her sister who puts up with her.

My baby Chalupa should win the kitty castle, she is the queen of the house and the queen of my heart.

Posted by: Pilar Ayende | June 24, 2009 07:29 PM

My kitty, Missty, is such an awesome kitty to live w/! She defiantly knows that she is the Queen Bee of the house and doesn't let anyone forget it! She was abandoned in Dallas, and my family found her and decided to adopt her instead of take her to a shelter. Even though she has that famous "cat attitude", she picks up on when I have had a bad at school or something and is always there for me to snuggle w/...
At night she sleeps right on top of my chest and sometimes it makes me laugh cause it feels weird to breathe w/ a cat on top of you. I guess she doesn't like that cause she shuts me up real fast w/ all those sharp pointy claws of hers... Sometimes if i get home late she goes on to bed w/o me and ALWAYS sleeps in the very center of the bed so i have to twist my body around her. Then the very second I get comfortable she hops up to the top bunk! And then there is the throwing up! She throws up constantly! All the vets say nothing is wrong some cats just vomit alot. So, i am constantly cleaning up cat puke! It is so gross but I love her, and she defiantly deserves her very own castle to hide away in!

I am currently being entertained by a five month old kitten who's companion is 16 and in hospital fighting cancer. I have never before been fortunate enough to meet such a special, gentle, wild and playful creature. Whether patting my five month old daughter, sitting alongside his sick companion or running wild with his four year old friend, he truly is a prince.

In October of last year, my 22 pound, gigantic marmie, Madison, who arrived as a stray in 1995, started losing weight. After 7 months of unsuccesful treatment for Feline Inflammatory Bowel Disease, a tumor was discovered, which had gone undetected. By this point he was 8 pounds of pure bones. The odds were bad. Really bad. But I scheduled the intestinal surgery anyway, being advised that he likely would not survive the surgery, let alone the recovery after having portions of his intestines removed. Well I cancelled EVERYTHING and began saying my goodbyes. As he went to sleep in the O.R., I told him that he had made me very happy. I did not expect to ever see him awake again. I stood with him during every second of the surgery, just in case he passed. He didn't. That was 5 weeks ago, and while the cancer is of an aggressive type and may return, right now he is tumor-free. He is a kitten again. I had done my best to say goodbye, but he wasn't ready to go yet. He is now 10 pounds and gaining. He is DEFINITELY the KING around this house.

My cat Hannah deserves a castle because she is the passive cat of the three I own. She is always hiding from the other cats and every little noise scares her. It would be nice for her to have a little special castle to hide in and feel safe in.

We rescued our kitten from the parking lot at walmart. We saw something on the ground and at first we thought it was a stuffed animal, until we saw a truck drive over it and it crouched a little further down. My husband jumped out of our truck and ran over to her. She crouched down real low and started hissing and "growling" at him...lol. She was so scared. When he got her into the truck she tried to climb up under our dashboard. My husband grabbed a shirt and wrapped it around her. Despite her hissing and trying her best to chew his hand off, he just talked to her and pet her head until she started to calm down. It took her about 3 days to calm down fully. She was quite emaciated when we found her, but now she is fat and happy and it feels like she has been here forever.

My furry kids all deserve the very best...and if I was rich I would buy them a real castle...but til then this one will certainly do :)
The King of the castle would be my big boy, Spun Kee. He was my first cat and all by devine intervention. Born with Asthma I never was able to be around cats. One day a friend called and said a little kitten just got hit by a car. Well off I went with the intention to save him and find him a home. Things didn't go as easily as I planned. When I arrived there he was a tiny little Siamese kitty that was downright ferocious. Four men wouldn't even get near him. Finally I managed to grab him in a towel and get him in the kennel. Off the vet I went. Again, men! the vet! wouldn't touch him. He told me I had two choices, put him down or let him go.
Neither were acceptable. So begins our wonderful time together. It took me three days of practically living on the floor next to his cage before he would even let me touch him. As days went by I was just waiting for my Asthma, but praying it wouldn't come. On the third day when he was sleeping....I reached over slowly and touched him lightly....he just melted and started purring. And the most amazing part is I am no longer allergic to cats! Spun Kee deserves a castle because he rescued me and helped cure my Asthma :)

This is too cute! and my three girls are total princesses,so they would luv it.

Relationships with felines are based on "trust" SOME humans being so egocentric definitely do understand that cats are not into blind followers but those that they can trust. Why do you think feral cats form such strong colonies....

Nora the princess deserves this more than anything!

Nora my shelter cat was a foster mom who took care of many baby kitties including her own for 6 months before we adopted her.

From the second we walked in the shelter we knew she was the one. She gave us that stare and melted my heart instantly!

Nora is a two year old tortoiseshell with green eyes that can make you do anything for her :)

She likes to be pampered and I think she would really love the kitty castle, being she is royalty and all.

Nora really likes to watch movies with her mom. And share tuna with her naughty meat eating father! She also only eats organic food (which i recommend, she is feeling so much better after getting off of dry food, which contains chicken heads and feet).

Shes the most loving companion I could ask for, and I don't know what I would do without her :)

My oldest cat, Pandora, came home as a rescue with prolapsed rectum, she healed to become companion to my dog. Two years later she welcomed a calico kitten born under my house. New kitten's name is Toluca and they both let me clip their nails, brush their teeth and Toluca even attempts to let me walk her on a leash. neither have ever shown me their nails in a threatening way and have become inseparable, which cries out for a castle in which the two of them can escape from the dog from time to time.

Are you kidding, this is designed for my amazing cat Czar (yes, that means King) I don't think there is a more deserving cat of such a treat as this fabulous Kitty Castle. We have been together for 15 years in November and he is truely an angle. He taps on my leg with his paw to be picked up, he actually cuddles me when I do pick him up (one arm around each side of my neck, with his head snuggled in to one side and his paws clenched just ever so slightly) and he looks into my face and touches my face with a paw. He loves all people and all people love him. I would so love to give him this castle.

This would be the perfect purr palace for my blind baby, Scooter. When I found him and the rest of his litter last summer (under a dirty trailer in a parking lot), he only weighed 6 ounces at 6 weeks of age! He'd been suffering from a nasty infection which destroyed his eyeballs. The rest of his littermates were adopted into loving homes, and I kept Scooter under my wing. For the first 2 weeks I had them in my bathroom for their isolation/medication period, I would construct little cat castles out of old boxes. I remember the first time I saw Scooter really gain a hold of his surroundings was in one of those box castles. Even though he can't see, he runs and plays with the best of them and enjoys showing my new foster kitties his favorite toys and hidey-holes. I'm sure he would love to have a proper castle to lounge around in, since he truly is king of this household! I'm sure the rest of my resident and foster kitties wouldn't mind having a neat castle either :)

I have two kitties, Chibi and mooshoo. Chibi came to me about two years ago from an animal hoarder. She was in extremely bad shape and was very skittish and i was told that they had planned to put her down. I was told she would never be social and that there was no point in wasting my time. I refused to let them kill her and took her into my home where i started to rehabilitate her. It took a few months but finally she calmed down and now she is an extremely loving cat who every morning comes and wakes me up by licking my arm.

Mooshoo used to be one of my friends cats. He wasnt fixed and was allowed to roam the streets. The poor guy would always come home with deep bite wounds. One day i was talking to my friend and she told me mooshoo had disappeared a week before. I was extremely upset she didnt call me and tell me he disappeared and went and checked the humane society and thats where i found him. So that same day i adopted him and he has been living with me ever since (of course as an indoor cat now)

Boy and Mami, 2 rescued cats, live with me and they should be pampered because they bring out the best in me. They motivate me to be kind and loving. They motivate me to wake up in the morning. They teach me to love.

Posted by: roxanne | June 24, 2009 11:43 PM

opps, I forget to mention that they motivate me to be brave and speak out against animal cruelty. i speak for them, I am one of their messengers.

My cat Boom-Boom.

Because he got up out of bed everynight when I was ill with tumors and was getting sick in the bathroom and he meowed,"HANG IN THERE!"

He also gave up his favorite spot on the bed when I rescued another cat and made her the news member of the family.

Just wondering if my Thumper boy who is actually an indoor bunny would love a castle!! He sure is king around here ... any chance of bunny prizes in the future???

Posted by: Amanda | June 25, 2009 08:39 AM

My cats deserve to be pampered because they are my very best friends who are always there for me, kind, and are so funny. Everyday they make me laugh and smile with all the crazy stuff they do. Trev will jump in the bathtub and wait til I fill a cup of water for him everyday , he will run around in the hall only when nobody is watching really fast and it's quite loud lol , and he will jump on the kitchen table every morning waiting for his water mixed homeopathic medicine drops for arthritis to lap up. Angel will lick lotion( Freeman) off of my hands when I try to pet her , she tries to lick lipgloss(Bonne Bell) off my lips too when I kiss her, sometimes she like to sleep under my covers on my bed and sleep beside me while purring extremely loudly (I honestly never heard a purr that loud before )and when I sit on the couch with my legs on the floor she will run to me and go under my legs back and forth like it's some kind of game until she gets tired and has to lie down.

My kitties would love a castle. Trev can be a prince and Angel can be the princess!!

Why do I think my Ollie should have a a Kitty Kastle?
Well, to start with, he was born in my dog's house and spent the first 8 weeks of his life there, under the watchful eye of Buck, my good and faithful dog. When the kittens were removed to be adopted, Buck anxiously followed the kittens out to the rescue worker's car. My neighbor, who's cat gave birth to the kittens, kept Ollie and one other kitten. They shortly got to be too much for him so he threw them outside and refused them food or water, hoping they would find their own way to greener pastures. The greener pastures turned out to be my side of the porch, where Buck and I resumed their care.

This neighbor and his family moved. I found a home for the friendlier of the kittens but Ollie refused to let anyone touch him, and severely scratched and bit anyone who tried. Eventually, with a lot of patience, I won him over. He now cuddles with me and is one of the delights of my life. He now sleeps in a cat carrier donated by another much kinder neighbor, cuddled in his very own Humane Society blanket, and still protected by Buck, who is still very vigilant in his cat guarding duties. Im sure Ollie would love a place that is just his own, and never used by any other animal. It would be like a human moving from a homeless shelter to a brand new house made just for them. After his uncertain, inconsistant start in life, with homes and owners coming and going, this would be a sign of his permanance in someone's life.

A Castle would be a wonderful gift for my 5 little kittens and 4 adult cats at home. My 16 year old son found a female cat in labor in the woods by our home, she was emaciated and terrified, being only a kitten herself, he gently brought her home to me, where she proceeded to give birth to 5 kittens, the kittens thrived, but alas nobody wanted them. We kept the mother and the kittens, all are well and neutered or spayed, I think these little guys would love to have a special place to hide and play.

My kitten Anubis is only 8 weeks old, but already he has had a rough life. At 3 weeks, his mother was hit by a car. He and his three sisters were given to my coworker at the vet office we work at. I took him and one of his sisters, and my coworker took the other two little girls. We bottle raised them and brought them to work every day to feed them on our lunch breaks and to let them play together. At 5 weeks, my little girl Sekhmet came down with aspiration pneumonia, and despite frantic hours of doing everything to save her, she passed away. Then just last week, another of his sisters passed away. She was my coworker's baby, and again we did everything in our power to save her, but she died of unknown complications. In the 8 weeks that Anubis has been alive, he has lost his mother and two of his three sisters. But he is still a happy, hyperactive kitten who just wants to run and jump and stalk and play. In all my experience with cats, I have never seen a kitten as rambunctious and full of energy and spunk as he is. He never rests! So the kitty castle would not be for him, it would be for my 6 other kitties (all feral rescues) who love him, but need a break from him every once in a while! I think they get tired of babysitting him for me while I'm at work. :)

Part Two on Boom-Boom:
What I meant to say was..Boom-Boom would get up in the middle of the night and walk into the bathroom when I was getting sick from having my tumors taken out and there he was!!! Sitting right next to me as I hovering over the toilet getting sick! He would meow "HANG IN THERE" and rub up on me with ALL HIS LOVE!
He even made me laugh threw it some nights! Boom-Boom was my night in shining armour!

And he did give up his favorite spot on the bed when I saved another kitty and made her the newest member of the family because she felt save sleeping there!

Just think, I got Boom-Boom from a newspaper ad and his "owner" said they didn't want him because he wasn't friendly enough!
I love my Boom-Boom for not giving up on man-kind! Because he loves me, he never gave up on us humans!

My fiance and I have 11 cats. Most of them are older but we recently inherited 3 kittens and a pregnant cat. The kitty castle would be a godsend. Instead of playing with everything in the house and trahsing/tearing it up, they could have their own space.

I have 4 cats inside (plus there's the strays we leave food out for) and they give us unconditional love. A kitty house would probably be the perfect way for one to get away from the others for some me time. THough Marmalade seems to do that by sleeping in the bathroom sink,

So many deserving kitties! But I believe mine is just as deserving as any! Sumi is 11 years old, a Himalayan (not HER fault), and beginning to have hip problems.
Her BIG problem now is that she has to compete with two dogs to get to her food. We have put it on the dining room table, but a) one dog is not above trying to pull it off, and b) sometimes guests object.
Besides, we are putting her to the ultimate indignigy of having a lion cut today for the first time - she and I together cannot keep up with her coat, and even with meds she has hairballs all the time. She NEEDS a little house to hide and EAT in!

Posted by: janet knori | July 1, 2009 11:02 AM

Even though my pride thinks MY place is their castle, they need one of their own. I am the neighborhood cat lady as I feed all the strays and I think they would love this!

My cat Chloe deserves to win because of the rough start she had in life. Whoever thought it was OK to abandon a 6-week old kitten, with her collar on, on a busy street in a city must have had no heart at all.

Chloe managed to climb up a tree out of fear, and was rescued by the city Fire Department. Upon retrieving her, my friend Barbara took her in, and called me, asked me if I wanted a kitten. You see, both of our elderly cats had died within weeks of each other, and we were petless for the first time in 20 years.

I said no at first, then offered to foster her and put her up for adoption.

Flash forward an hour, and we all fell in love with this scrawny, dirty, loveable cat,

Just based on what she gives us every day in terms of love and laughs, Chloe deserves to win, no question.

I am the proud step-mom to my boyfriend's cats; Bella & Peanut. While they both do naughty things throughout the day ("because they're little", as their dad would say), at the end of the day, they are both cuddled up with me in bed. Bella's purr is as loud as a helicopter and Peanut "steals" my hair ties and plays with them all night. It does not make for a peaceful night sleep, but it's the love that counts!

Whether Lucky was abandoned or dumped by humans or just wandered away from his litter we will never know as he came to us after being knicked by my neighbor'd pruning shears while hiding in the elephant ear my neighbor was trimming. In a panic he brought the bleeding tiny little thing to me and I got the bleeding stopped and hauled him off to the vet. Cuts were superficial but he was badly undernourshed and dehydrated so we knew he was alone for some time. He was so tiny and although 3 now he is still small but he has established his supremacy over the lab and two other cats that have joined us since he arrived 3 years ago and while he does share after he has had his he does need a private place to contemplate the world. It is funny to see when he is eating if one of the new cats comes over they are set scrambling in a hurry if Lucky is still eating but but if he is done he graciously steps aside and lets them eat. As for Zoe the lab she has learned in no uncertain terms not to cross Lucky. It is so funny to see the little black white cat chasing this big blond lab all over the yard. I am sure Lucky would make the castle his own and might even invite the other cats in sometimes.

My little boys cat (named Grace) desErves to be pampered because she was abandoned on the road we live on. She was only a few weeks old when she began to hang around our house. I really didn't want my little boy to have her because he has asthma. But he kept on feeding her and finally won her over. And then he came to me one day packing her in his arms and said momma I picked out a name for my kitty, Meet Miss gracie may.

hmmm. What is that castle made out of? I ask because I can envision something made of cardboard lasting a whole 10 minutes with my two cats. Princess Sugar-Butt would be holed up inside cleaning between her toes, while FatBob (my cross-eyed Himalayan) would be launching an attack from all perimeters simulateously. I want it! The cat drama bringing it into the house would be video worthy.

we have rescue kitties and foster kitties and they deserve to be loved and pampered

Posted by: MRS.MOMMYY | July 2, 2009 03:50 PM

I have adopted two very sweet and loving cats. One is 10 years old and was born without a tail. The other is 5 years old. They deserve to have a little castle of their own. One, because the 10 year old is afraid of any new people that come to my house and every time she desperately tries to find a place to hide, and doesn't always have much luck. The castle will give her a safe place to stay low and away from the visitors. I believe that before we got her at the pound that she was abused which is horrible. I don't see how any one could do that to her or any other animal. Once she warms up to you, she is the sweetest little girl and you can hear her purr across the room. Now the 5 year old is always looking for a place to sleep. Usually that means the clean clothes on the dryer that were just washed! He could use a little home of his own. Maybe then our dog won't try and mess with him! :) It is amazing the array of personalities cats or any animal can have. That is why I think my wonderful cats deserve a hideout of their own.

Posted by: Ira Yon | July 2, 2009 04:03 PM

My furbaby Shadow, is one of the most wonderful cats and friend. He's wonderful with our kids, especially our 12 year old son. He's affectionate and caring and loves to be around us all the time. I really think that he thinks he's just another kid. He loves to play fetch (yes he'll fetch his toys and come back with them.)
I'd really love to treat him to this special castle. Thanks so much.

I pamper my kitty every chance I get. He deserves it! When my neighbors cat passed away, they went to their friend who works at the cat doctor to get a new one. It just so happens that she had went to the shelter the week before and noticed a kitten that had a sign on him that said to be euthanized. She put him in her backpack and ran out. She saved him! She gave my neighbors that cat but after spending one night with him they decided they were not ready for another cat. My dog had just died so I was looking for a kitten cause I haven't had a cat in years. They asked their friend if they can give the cat to me and I've had him ever since. He was 4 months old. Currently he is at my sisters with her 2 cats for another month while we fix up our new condo. I just moved in with my boyfriend and even though he is a dog person and allergic to cats he let me keep him cause he knows the story and how much my cat means to me. My cat adores him too! I try to papmper him as much as I can. We are saving to buy a cat condo for the new place, they are expensive. I just want a place for him to hang out while we are in the living room cause he usually like to hide under the coffee table. Every time I play with him I feel so grateful to have such an affectionate, playful kitty. Just to know what the shelter was going to do to him breaks my heart.

Our little kitty Milo came to us just 4 short weeks ago and already he is an irreplaceable member of the family. How silly I must have looked when I had to leave work in the middle of the day last week when the family told me how upset he was after being placed in his pet carrier for his first trip to the vet. I had to rush home (a little teary-eyed) just to make sure my "little boy" was ok.

My kitty deserves to be pampered because she's a great companion. My daughter brought Bella, our cat, home last summer and since then it's like she's always been a member of our family. Bella's mother was a feral cat and my 13 year old daughter talked the people who had her on their property into taking care of the momma cat so they could eventually find homes for all the kittens. Bella is the sweetest, sassiest cat there ever was and we wouldn't give her up for the world!

My cat, Miaka, would love to have this. She came into the animal shelter I was volunteering at 6 years ago and I decided to foster her. She was only 2 weeks old at the time and I had to feed her with a bottle. Needless to say, I fell in love and she's been with me since.

I just graduated from college this year and have been hit hard by the weak economy. While I've been blessed here, it's time for me to move on (I've decided to go to grad school). I would love for Miaka to come with me, but I worry that she will become bored. She'll be moving from a decent sized house, to a very very small apartment. She has her own "chair" where she sleeps, scratches, and plays on, but I don't know if I'll be able to bring it. I'd love for her to have a little place of her own to hide and play in.

I volunteer with a local animals shelter (no-kill). We have kitty city where the cats are free to roam around and sit on a bed if they want to.

We have a few cats that cannot be with the general population and they have a large cage, I would love to be able to donate this to the special needs kittys. Thank you for a wonderful contest.

Our guy was orphaned as a baby. we took him and bottle fed him, slept with him to keep him warm, wiped his little bottom so he could go potty (which they cannot do on their own that young) He is the sweetest, most loyal and loving pet ever and also king of the roost. He's boss and he lets everyone know it. He's had the same cat tree for years and it's old and worn out. A new one is just what this king needs.

I am always looking for sweepstakes that involve cat towers/food/litter/toys, etc. I am the proud owner of 37 resuced cats that I have rescued when they were just kittens. I always own 3 dogs and 4 horses. My cats absolutely love hiding in these kinds of towers. Even though they are all declawed, they think they have claws :) I have them all in our huge open basement so they can roam around freely. They absolutely love hiding in boxes and play houses that the kids have outgrown, but they still love the kitty towers the best :)

We have what some call a cat sanctuary here at my home! On the large screened porch we have 5 cats that were homeless and wondered in to be fed. (we say that they have some sort of six sense and know we'll love them!) Also we have 4 family cats (formally strays) that come in the house and sleep with us. Our cats (and 2 dogs) run this house! They are always jumping in the baby's playpen, crib, and carrier! I think this would be a great addition! Something to snuggle and play in! Sometimes its hard to support such a large animal brigade, considering my mother is the only one that is currently employed. But we always find a way!

She and my grandmother were inseparable. My grandmother passed away in March and my mom took in Princess afterwards. Even though Granny lived below us in the same house.. Princess is still adjusting to life without her.. She used to sleep every night at the end of my Granny's bed. And now she seems to wander through Granny's empty apartment somewhat confused. I can tell she wonders where her old bed is and where all the other furniture is. I think she'd love a kitty castle. A place she can call her own. Rylee would also love it but every Princess needs a castle :)

I'd like to win this for my mom's kitties. My parents wanted to get a cat so we went to a shelter. There in a small cage were two brothers, one black one gray, year old cats that were about to be put down in a couple of weeks. They were maine coon mixes so they're very fluffy and loveable. They'd love this castle!

Because all 4 of my cats were 'throw away' animals to someone else, but they are royalty in my house. Our latest rescue was placed for rehoming on craigslist, a pure bred Bengal and not fixed, advertised as available for breeding. We were not planning on adopting but we couldn't let her go to a basement breeder so we acted fast and took her in. We have two from last summer, Persian cats who didn't meet the breeders standards so they were dumped off at a dog shelter. And out wonderful 15 year old tortie, left in front of a pet store in a box, injured and underfed. They are all healthy happy neutered/spayed cats who rule in this happy home.

Biscuit claimed us as his family 3 years ago about 6 months after the sad death of Dumpling who had been with us for 14 years. After losing Dumpling, I was determined not to have another cat. The heartbreak was just too great. Well, my SO took our youngest to a cub scout meeting one night and when he came home, he was telling me about the kittens the scoutmaster had at his house. He said there was this one kitten who came running out with all of the adult cats like he was king of the crowd. He said it was kinda dark outside so he couldn't get a good look at him, but he laughed at how brave the kitten was. I jokingly said to him "So when you going to bring him home?" Nothing more was said about it. Two weeks later, they went to another meeting. I was at home sitting on the couch when they came in. My youngest reached over the back of the couch and handed me this tiny kitten. I took one look at him and couldn't believe my eyes! It was like he was Dumpling reincarnated! They look sooooooooooooo much alike!!! My SO came in the house and told me when the kitten came running out this time and he got a good look at him, he knew that Dumpling had sent him from above for me. Not only did I know at that time that this was meant to be, I knew that I had a great man in my life! Biscuit has been such a joy!!!! Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago, he got very sick and we had to take him to the vet. After many tests, they determined he had a blockage in his stomach. During emergency surgery, they found all sorts of things in his stomach he had swallowed that a cat shouldn't swallow. Shoe strings, tinsel, you name it. The tinsel had cut his intestines and they had to remove 2 inches of his intestines. The vet really didn't think he would make it. After many tears and prayers, I am grateful to say that Biscuit is now home and doing very well. I know that Dumpling told him he had to come back to take care of me. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

My son was only a toddler when we went into a pet store. They had a cage full of kittens there so I let my kids play with them. When we put one particular little kitten back he started meowing and so my son cried saying "He wants me" and was so distraught that we bought him and brought the kitten home. My son will be 17 next month and is a muscular lineman for his HS football team. But he still LOVES that cat and the cat sits on his lap anytime he sits down and sleeps with him at night. It's so touching to see the delight he's brought to my son's life for the last 13 years and how much my son still loves him. Maybe he was crying for him!!

My poor 15-year-old cat is tortured by her 7-year-old "brother." He's very big, very fat, and very fast...and he chases her like crazy. She is very skinny--she has kidney disease that can only be treated with special food. But last week, we went away overnight and he chased her into the office and somehow the door closed behind her. She was stuck for 24 hours with no food, water, or litterbox. She's now taken to sleeping in the bathtub, the one place she feels "safe." Please note we do EVERYTHING we can to keep him away from her and keep up her health--but he's stealthy!

We took in the street stray after she was kicked out of her home when her old owners moved. Everyone has a different name for her, but we know her as Catface (my hubby's fault!). She's a lovely old mog, nearly 12 by our guess, and already acts like queen of the house! Being an old cat she spends a lot of her time sleeping and resting, and it's hard for her to jump up on our bed when she wants a snooze, so a little castle of her own would be perfect for her

I am owned by 2 wonderful furbabies both are stray
C.J the oldest was found outside a Mexican resturant she is a Garfield cat feed her and let her lie in the sun and nobody gets hurt she is also a very picky eater. The baby Razzy a stray I found huddle in a water drain after a very big rainstorm she is a Mommygirl she sleep with me on a pillow and she make herself comfortable under the computer table until I am done. I know my boths cats deserve a castle because I they are inside cats and I work during the day in the evenings I let them run around or lie on the balconcy I am very glad for daylight savings. Money is very tight right now for additional thing for them beside food and litter. Thanks for the giveaway

My Cattywampus is such a good friend and comfort to me. I suffer from severe anxiety and social anxiety disorders as well as depression, and she always seems to know just when I need that extra snuggle or leg-rub and trilling "meow" she gives. She exudes unconditional love, and I love to spoil her rotten!

I have one rescue kitty and four cats and they all have their own personalities but they are all are so sweet. They never do anything wrong and are so cudly.

My cat Area is twelve and an insulin dependent diabetic. She's adopts a cardboard box each time the groceries are delivered, so we made a space so she always has one. A kitty castle would serve the same purpose and look so much nicer!

My female Siamese is 18 years old. She has always been the Queen of the house but has never had her own castle. I would love to see this happen...thanks for the giveaway!

My kitties deserve this castle. I have 3 cats and they are the world to my little girl. Two are rescue cats and one is a cat from a friend's litter. I have seen my daughter come in crying from outside, especially if other kids are picking on her and she just scoops up one of the cats and hugs them. After a rough day she said to our cat Alice the other day with tears in her eyes "You're my real friend, you would never tease me. I can always count on you. You love me and I love you and I don't need anyone else.". It was sweet and made me shed a tear of my own. The cats just sit with her and listen. You can see that they really do love her.
Those cats are her best friends. She does everything for them and they love each other. If our cat Jackie O. sneaks outside, I have to chase her and try to get her back inside for quite some time but, all my daughter has to do is call her when she gets out and she comes right in! Our other cat Spyder sleeps in her bed with her every night. It's amazing the bond they share.
I think my cats deserve this castle because of what they do for my daughter and how much they love her. I think she would love to put this in her room for them and it would mean so much to both the cats and my daughter to win this.

well I believe that all 3 of my babies deserved to be pampered. We share their space a 12 yr old Tabby named LB who is fiesty as ever, a 5 year old Tabby named Bob who I believe is atleast 22lbs, and Frank our new arrival who is 8 months. Frank came to us from the Humane Society after our 14 year old Gurr Gurr lost her battle with illness.

We took in our male, Mistah Fluff, after he was born to a stray in our neighborhood a year ago. He is such a sweet kitty. He loves to have his belly rubbed and will stretch out when we pet him. Love this cat.

I am fortunate enough to be allowed to live with my 5 kid kitties. Though I recently lost my best friend in the world, Tao! He was 20 and lived his life at my side through many relocations for work & different relationships as I grew up, he was always there and I cherished him! Because of him, we opened our home to any cat that he and I felt needed needed our help and was a good fit. Anyone else that wandered through was held and placed in great homes that matched their personalities. Since he passed, I did go to the Humane Society to open our home in his name to just one more; I prayed he would approve and and help pick the right guy. I have been fortunate enough to see a little of Taoser's personality in him. Simon is my new friend that is showing the signs of being that reallllllly special cat that just "knows" you in every way. I thought that this kitty castle would be great for my cat pals and honor their mentor, Tao.

My Kittica Kitty deserves the castle because she lost her mother (who was also her best friend), CuddleLisa, a few months ago. Her mother was blind in one eye and Kittica always stayed near her, helping her, even when CuddleLisa batted at her with her claws or was mean with her. Sometimes they lay on the bed facing each other with both sets of paws touching, like a huge heart. Cuddlelisa the mother died (she was 15) and Kittica had stayed with her since her birth and then was beside herself, not knowing what to do. She's still lonely and I want to do anything I can to help her.

My four kitties are all rescues and shelter cats, two of whom where on their last day at a kill shelter. The oldest is 12 years old. I walked right into that shelter and told them to hand over whomever needed a home right away. They sent me home with two great kitties (I still can't understand why they weren't snatched up, they are the sweetest cats in the world!), and I tell all my kitties they were worth every penny of their "bail" money as I call it. LOL

I know my kitties, especially the oldest one we call the Queen of Sheba because she acts like it, would just love to play in their very own castle! I wonder if all four could find their way to squeeze into it at the same time - knowing them, they'll find a way!

My baby girl Cali was sent to me for a reason. The day that I went to get her I had just gotten out of the hospital for trying to kill myself. I thought that I was worth nothing and that my life was not important. I went into the shelter that day just to look and she stole my heart from the first time that I saw her. It took us awhile to trust one another but in time we have. She has been with me for 4 years and I have been clean for 4 years also. They day that I saved her she also saved me.

Jinx is a saint. She deals with the dog and the kids trying to play with her constantly. I see her sitting in the window sill dreaming of chasing the birds like her wild ancestors. I would love for her to have this great space to take a break from us all.

I have five active cats who would love this castle

All I can say is my husband is a (dog lover) and I love my cat. My husband has 7 hounds that he hunts, and I have a cat, named gremlin, that i have loved for years. She tolerates the dogs (for the most part) and hides in the house where she always twitches her tail and gives loves to me, while we complain about the chaos outside!

Im currently watching my brothers cats, Komi and Honda Civic. He's a marine, and has been in Iraq for the past 8 months, and is soon to be shipped off to Afganistan.
They hate that their daddies away and that they have to share the house with my two dogs. I would love for them to have this! They deserve it.

my fiance and i live at home with his mother temporarily and we have together 11 cats. that number includes the 3 kittens we just adopted. this would be a godsend.

I have 5 kitties who were all strays or dumped by their owners. They all found my home, and of course I would never turn them away. Each of them have their own special needs, but they all are my babies, and I would do anything for them. Most recently, my siamese mix had 2 tumors removed from her tummy. She is very blessed because they were both benign, but she is definitely my special princess who deserves a place in the castle.

My cat Tim and I recently lost his best friend and he's lonely. This would help until we decide who will join our family.

I have three cats. Our oldest cat MeMe who is 13 years old and two that are a year old. We adopted a male kitten a year ago who we instantly feel in love with. However, as curious as kittens are, he jumped into my clothes dryer without me knowing. We were devastated and my children cried all night. The next day we adopted his sister, Shebe. I was so hurt after losing this male kitten, Hebe. I had never had a male kitten and I had bonded so much with him. One day, a couple of weeks after we adopted Shebe, I came home and saw a small kitten outside of my home, I thought Shebe had somehow gotten outside because this kitten was the exact same color and size. However, this kitten ran from me when I called her. I soon found out that it was a stray kitten. I began feeding him and after a couple of months, he allowed me to pet him. I felt like he was sent to me to help me heal. Another male kitten that needed my help. Well, now we have these two kittens that are a year old and like to play...all the time. Mostly in the middle of the night and I would love to have this Kitty Castle that I could keep in the front Den. It might entertain them during the middle of the night while we are trying to sleep. I never expected to have two kittens the same age the like to play so much but would not change a thing.

Thank you for the entry!

It was early April in 1987. I was 21, in college, and I'd been holed up in my dingy little student apartment for days with a nasty case of the flu. Finally, I woke up feeling almost normal -- well enough to go to class, but young enough not to. Instead, I went to my favorite bakery to treat myself to a pastry, and then I wandered into the pet shop next door, thinking I should buy a toy for my cranky, ancient dog, who I'd been ignoring while I was sick.

I was wearing tight-rolled, stone-washed, baggy jeans and a paisley shirt -- about as 1987 as you can get. I stepped through the door and headed to the chew-toy section, but a writhing clot of fur blocked my path. I was a confirmed dog person - my dad was allergic to cats, and I'd never really known one - but a pile of kittens is impossible to resist, and I stopped to coo at them. Before I could even lean down to pet them, I felt a teeny tug at my ankle, and looked down to see a tiny, dark gray creature with a pink nose climbing up my jeans, and I experienced the disorientation of love at first sight for the first and only time in my life.

Before I really understood what was happening, I'd gotten the story from the shop owner -- a box of kittens left at the front door sometime in the middle of the night -- and given him some money for kitten chow and tiny bowls, and the little thing who'd chosen me was in my lap in the car, on the way to the vet before we got home to introduce the dog to his new toy.

I was into Egyptian history at the time, and I named her Isis. She weighed less than a pound, and the vet thought she was about five weeks old, too young, really, to be away from her mom, but healthy.

The jeans are long gone, and the dog died not long after, but Isis is sitting beside me as I write this. Together, we've lived in six cities and more apartments and houses than I can count. She's been to Grateful Dead shows, and driven cross-country three or four times. She likes sailboats and chicken. She's indifferent to dogs and catnip, but she hates lizards and cigarette smoke.

She's seen me through a wedding, a divorce, and another wedding. She's tolerated good boyfriends bad ones, iguanas and guinea pigs. She was with me when both my parents died. For all these years, Isis has been the steadiest, most reliable presence in my life, and I love her. She loves me back.

The vet is surprised by her continuing health; she's a little creaky around the hips, a little less playful and a little more cranky than she used to be, and I think that after all these years of adventure and friendship, Isis deserves a room of her own for however much or little time we have left together.

She chose me 22 years ago, and I know she'd love it if you chose her now.

I have two kittys and one puppy at my home, we rescued my first cat from a shelter and adopted our second cat when she became too much for her original owner to care for. Her name is Patches and she is a calico persian kitty. She has horrible allergies and is constantly sneezing and has a hard time breathing most of the time. She also takes pills for tummy problems. She definitly could use some pampering! While she has to work a little harder than most cat, we still love her just the way she is! :)

My home is ruled by 3 torties. Thumper, Cali and Fig. They are all rescues. Thumper was found on the street when the neighbors were trying to get her out of their shrubbery on their property. They were using a hose to get her out. I took her home. Cali was adopted from a local rescue group who traps feral cats and kittens. She has a loving home now. And Fig. I got her just a year ago when I was volunteering with 'No More Homeless Pets in Utah'. She came in as a feral and I fell in love. She's been with me ever since. My 3 rescues and my life revolves around them.

I found Tinker at the local Humane Society when she was about 5 months old. I don't know what she went through before they found her but it must have been very traumatic. She is terrified of everyone. When she hears footsteps outside the door she runs and hides inside the closet. When I have visitors she hides inside my bedroom until everyone is gone. My grandson stayed with me for 6 months and only got a glimpse of her one time. When it's just the two of us she is a love bug. She love to be cuddled and sleeps with me every night. She deserves to have a castle of her very own.

Oh how my girls would love this. I have two kitties, Polly and Rose. They are both polydactyls. For those who don't know, my fur babies have lots and lots of toes!! They are spoiled rotten, especially Polly! Their precious large feet have never touched the ground outside! They are terrified of outside. They love running around in the house and hiding and would love the Kitty Castle! I would love to win it for a Christmas gift for them!

My kitty deserves the castle I think as shes an old gal now going on 21 and has seen and been thru many things, especially fighting to stay alive. I say this cause she has her problems being old such as bad arthritis and memory loss(we think) but she tries to stay alive for us, for all of us here in the family because she knows how we love her so dearly and cherish and adore her, she feels our love, we constantly talk to her to keep her mind working and pet her and pick her up, etc. She would love this castle even being an old old cat she still inspects every new thing we bring into the house and she even goes outside yet to see who's in her yard.We have to watch she doesnt run away so we keep an eye on her but that doesnt stop her from exploring her outdoor world yet still curious and mischievious as in her young tender years. We have a vet prescribed medicine for her joint pain and arthritis and she has been doing better since on it. We want her to last forever but we know the time will come ... Please enter me, thank you

We have three rescue cats -- MacKayla, Joel Gray and William the Orange -- and they deserve to be pampered because they have been there for me in the past year when I was terribly sick. They have provided companionship, comfort, love and purrs -- they've been the best!

I have 3 cats that are the best cats ever -- so loving and sweet! Two of them always have to make trips to the vet more often than normal (and the vet is not exactly their favorite place to be lol) b/c they both have really bad allergies. They have to deal with a lot! I love them tons and they so deserve this!!

My kitty Zeppelyn loves to be pampered. She is my only child and needs entertainment when i'm not home. She already considers herself queen of my castle so it would be nice if she had her own castle to rule. I adopted her from a shelter she was sick and weighed only 3 pounds at 6 months old. Now when people see her they are amazed since she is healthy and beautiful. No one thought she would turn out to have long hair and be the size she is when the first saw her. But shes a year old now and rockin.

My little Max had pericardial hernia surgery last year and now lives with a constant cough. He's had it rough and the surgery and recovery has been very expensive but he is worth every cent.
