While dropping some pounds to get your body beach ready may seem like a good idea for you, this amount of weight loss could indicate that these elephants are suffering from a potentially deadly illness or are not being provided with adequate food and proper nutrition. We've filed a complaint with the USDA and asked that it ensure that these elephants are taken off the road immediately.
This isn't the first time that Tina and Jewel have been in danger because of severe weight loss. In 2007, Tina and Jewel were traveling with Cole Bros. Circus when a whistleblower reported that the elephants were emaciated. After we filed a complaint with the USDA, the elephants were removed from the road to recover, but it wasn't long before they were forced to rejoin the circus.
We're hoping that the USDA will act swiftly to ensure that these animals are pulled off the road again—and this time, permanently.
Luckily, some people are getting the message that all elephants who are forced into the circus industry are plagued with chronic illness and lead lives full of misery. Garden City Circus and an entire city in Queensland, Australia, have completely removed animals from their circus performances.

Circuses should be banned. People who go to these are just as idiotic as the jerks who run them. It is Animal Abuse! Wake up Please!!!!!!!

Maybe the elephants are like NED who recently died. They could be suffering from stress which affects their digestion and gives them ulcers. After years of chaining, social depravation, and other un-natural things it would be no surprise if these wonderful wild animals were near the end of their ability to cope. Save them before they are too far gone as happened to NED.

Not NYC, we have rotten politicians who has no compassion and ethic, no wonder the animals are abused and there is so much corruption in NYC. Those who lack compassion also lack ethics.

Mankind has fallen so far from grace evidenced by the daily mistreatment and genocide of the animal kingdom; don't be surprised if cannibalism becomes fashionable.

This is outrageous! This is so offensive to me and makes me mad beyond belief and yet so sad beyond belief! Why can't this stop? I can't imagine anyone going to a circus and enjoying this crap!!!Enough! This is extreme animal abuse and should be banned and not be tolerated, EVER! These animals are suffering at the hands of VERY stupid people who only care about dollar signs and decimal points! This ruins my day!!!!!!!!

I do not like the fact that animals are taken out of their enviroment and put in one where they are made to do pet tricks while being abused neglected and mistreated I will never take my children to a circus

That makes me so sick. You would think they would be taking better care of their animals that are just as much a part of the show as the people. As far as circuses go, they don't have the best reputation for taking good care of their animals.

yes, ban circus acts with animals, they are beaten, starved, tortured to play the part.
and I don't want to hear any whining about 'my kids have a right to see animals in the circus' because they do not, no one has the right to abuse any animal for any reason, and that includes entertainment. teach the children to have compassion for all living creatures.

I just watched one of the video PETA posted about the reality of the circuses.Being involved with animal rights, it wasn't the first time but every time it hurt me so bad that it makes me cry.How can those "people" do things like that is totally beyond my comprehension,as well as I can't understand how can people take their cildren to the circus...but to see what???to have what kind of fun???? Somebody should do the same things those idiots do to the animals to them!! Let them try that and see if they like it..Parents watch some of the videos before taking your children to the circus then you'll tell me if you are still so happy to go there...and I'd like somebody explaining to me where is the EDUCATIONAL part of this so called entertainement..
Thanks PETA for all your effort!!

Reading stories and looking at these poor elephants my heart breaks!!! I am so sorry for what they have to suffer to please a bounch of idiots attending circuses. Cruel trainers should be ashame of themselves. I would use the same cruelty to them personally. I am serius, I would say training the traines:"let them screem" punching on their faces when they screem to much. Same things they do to animals. SHAME ON YOU CIRCUS PEOPLE!
