PETA is poised to take the mic on Wednesday to speak in behalf of chickens at McDonald's shareholder meeting in Oakbrook, Illinois. We're all set to grill CEO Jim Skinner and plan on asking him to change the way that his restaurants' suppliers slaughter birds by switching to controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK), a less cruel slaughter method.
For years, we've tried to convince McDonald's to require its suppliers to use CAK, which would eliminate some of the worst abuses suffered by the millions of chickens who are turned into McNuggets every year. But despite our efforts, the company still refuses to implement CAK.
After the meeting at 12 noon, we'll lead a protest at a nearby McDonald's restaurant, during which two PETA members will soak in "bloody" water to draw attention to the fact that many chickens at slaughterhouses that supply McDonald's are boiled alive in scalding-hot water.

The only McDonalds that I support are the ones in Hindu parts of India that exclusively serve meatless entrees. I'll eat junk food if it's not dead.

Great job, peta.
Peta tried their best over and over in times to ask Mcdonald to use a cruel method to slaughter those chickens, But NOT asking them to close down their business and stop selling chicken meat! They should stop hating Peta for the effort they have done and just spare a thought to the poor chickens.

Whilst attempting to get McDonald's do anything for animal welfare may seem laudable, changing the barbaric method of slaughter will do nothing to alleviate the misery endured by the chickens prior to that. If McDonald's do finally change their ways as result of this campaign are PETA not just handing this terrible organization a publicity coup that enables them to say that PETA approves of people eating an 'ethical' McNugget?

chhhey...
You've got to remember that every single little bit helps towards the alleviation of suffering. McDonalds will never stop selling McNuggets, so at least trying to alleviate as much suffereing as we can will help

We need a strong voice for the animals. We as human beings, need to recognize and to stop the inhumane treatment and the sadistic torture of chickens and all factory farmed animals. Keep up the good work PETA.

Thank you PETA! I sincerely hope efforts to use CAK will be adopted by McDonalds. If they must be slaughtered to satisfy humans' taste, CAK is a lesser evil, I suppose, than what is currently employed by most every factory farm in the U.S. Thank you again PETA, and PLEASE continue to advocate for these animals.

Ok i can understand that the way some companies kill their chickens is cruel but doing this is hardly going to have a impact and the CEOs are McDonalds are just giggling at this minor annoyance. If you really want to get some hardcore stuff on the companies that kill in a horrible way. I would get video proof of it. Then use that to get their attention.
Also to make sure we understand each other. I dont think chicken should not be taken off the market mainly because i like eatting chicken. The best way i think they should kill them is just by cutting off the head. sure they will run around a bit but heck better then using chemicals or a gas to taint the meat.

Two points:
1. For a group that supports vegetarianism, you have an odd way of showing it saying that chickens should be killed in a humane manner for food. OK... that makes as much sense as the idea to boycott maple syrup to save seals.
2. In case you have never experienced anoxia (which is not the same as suffocation), I can say that it's painful. I have asthma and have suffered from a lack of oxygen. You don't get enough air, you have trouble breathing and you pass out. When you regain consciousness, you are sore all over and it hurts to breathe. It's not humane if the animals do manage to survive and come to when they're unloaded.
(BTW, your case for Controlled atmosphere killing is flawed - asphyxiation is the same thing as anoxia - they die because of lack of oxygen. They are in effect smothered to death - just not by a pillow or garrotte).

IT IS SAID IN THE BIBLE THAT GOD GAVE US DOMAIN OVER THE ANIMALS, I'M SURE HE DID NOT EXPECT HIS PRECIOUS ANIMALS TO BE DEFILED AND BRUTALIZED IN THIS MANNER.WE REAP WHAT WE SOW AND WILL PAY DEARLY FOR THE CRUEL ACTS UPON OUR CREATORS CREATURES.

that is unbelievably horrific. How can people do things like this?

Another reason more for not eating McDonalds! Boycott against the murderers and torturers.
Greetings.
