Lily Allen
She had always dreamed of going on an African safari, but now that the time is here, Lily Allen feels like she could never take pictures of the animals because of the stalked feeling that she gets from the paparazzi in her own life. In two recent tweets, she wrote, "Safari is something I've always wanted to do. Don't think I'll sleep tonight," and then, "I already feel guilty about exploiting the animals with my camera, I've got a big long lenz, reminds me of some c***s I know."

Expletives aside, Lily's concerns show her sweet nature (her pooch is a rescue), and we're impressed with her sensitivity to animals. She did decide to go on a safari instead of to a zoo, after all. We're sure that Lily knows that zoos are nothing more than concrete jungles, where animals are held prisoner in tiny enclosures day in and day out, and that the animals resort to abnormal, repetitive behavior to alleviate the mind-numbing boredom of confinement. The animals are also stalked constantly by hordes of families, flashing cameras at the ready, all wanting to get a glimpse of the action. No wonder Lily empathizes with them.

Safaris and ecotourism are very important for the economies of many countries. If they ceased to thrive it's tenable that the natives would kill many of the majestic creatures.

Aw! I love Lily Allen. I saw her when she was here in San Francisco last month. She rocks... I'm happy shes voicing her empathy with our special animal friends we share this planet with.

I agree with Brian. I recently went gorilla trekking in Rwanda, in the area of the Dian Fossey gorillas. The animals are now protected from poachers because of the tremendous amount of money brought in by the tourists visiting them. The visits are very controlled and limited to one hour per day per group.

..And people have written comments, on other pages, about her silly white hat (totally fake) She's more of a feminist/activist than the people that complain about it! Credit where credit is due!

Too bad groups like Safari International can't be banned. They shoot with guns, not cameras. Sarah Palin just loves this group. Just a bunch of blood thirsty murderers!

Lily wore a fur hat all the time in the winter and i bet she'll wear it again next winter, so i have no idea why she suddenly empathizes with animals

modern zoo are great and treat there animals very well, a great part of a zookeepers job is to supply enrichment for the animals so they dont get bored and have variety throughout the day.

zoos are also great to educate the public about conservation, without zoos people just wouldnt know about the plight of endagered animals and take action. I do agree there are alot of terrible zoos out there but please dont bag these amazing modern zoos , they are an integral part of conservation.

The white fur hat isn't real. O.K. so before you accuse somebody of being a hypocrite, check to see if there is any information about the topic so you don't sound so stupid. In this case that would have been last January/February, when Lily Allen posted on her twitter page, that the hat was fake. I looked it up, It's actually a part of the Prada collection of fake furs, in a campaign, to stop animals from becoming endangered. Better luck next time Rebecca.

Her white fur hat isn't real!

Posted by: anonymous | May 19, 2009 10:09 PM

Because, even when people acknowledge that the white fur hat isn't real, and even after, Lily Allen rescues a puppy, they still think it's fun to call her a hypocrite. A matter of hearing what they want to hear, no matter how many times you mention it. That's they're problem not hers.

I recently went on a gorilla trek also to Rwanda/Uganda. I know it's important for the ecotourism and the money brings a lot to the economy to save the endangered species, prevent/punish poachers, increases jobs for the guides, porters, drivers. I think they need to enforce rules , no driving to chase the animals, no interfering with their hunting because they could starve, plus it destroys the homeostasis of the ecosystem. I think the jeeps should have to be far away, and also maybe just stopped to let the animals do their thing. Also, the camping/hiking safaris would be a good option with no jeeps, no permanent lodges/tents, no leaving a carbon footprint.

More like she got bored as there weren't enough papps covering HER!

Posted by: Barbara | May 20, 2009 10:49 PM

Barbara, obviously you could care less, about what's going on with Lily Allen, or you wouldn't sound so ignorant. Just to prove you're wrong, Lily Allen has filed a restraining order, against 2 news agencies in London. She mentioned during an interview, on G.M.T.V. that too much tabloid publicity, becomes confusing, to people, and she just wants them, to appreciate her music. She mentioned on her twitter, page (5/19/08 ) that she's confident enough as a singer and she does not need, that publicity. So, don't comment on people you don't like, you come off sounding stupid.

She filed a restraining order, against the paparazzi 3 months ago!
