US Airways: PETA's 'End the Seal Slaughter' Billboard?

Update: US Airways rejected our initial offer, but that little bump in the road isn't stopping us. We're still hopeful that we can work something out with the airline—and if US Airways isn't open to talking, we'll be approaching other airlines with the idea.
With the 2010 Olympics approaching, people are looking to book their travel to the Games sooner rather than later. So, we'd like to let would-be passengers know that there may be a reason (or 338,200 reasons) to skip that trip to Canada.
To that end, we've approached US Airways with a proposal. We'd like the airline giant to wrap a few of its planes (the ones that fly in and out of Vancouver—Games headquarters) with one of our ads:

US Airways is quite the global ambassador and thus is the perfect flying billboard to promote responsible travel. By placing our "Canada's Olympic Shame—End the Seal Slaughter" ad on the body of a few of its planes, US Airways will be doing its part to show Canada that the world won't rest until the cruel slaughter of baby seals ends. How do you like our design?

Looks nice, but you've got the plane wrong. US Airways doesn't fly 747s.

I completely agree that the seal slaughter is horrific and should be stopped ASAP. I am a vegetarian who fights for animal rights every day.
However, to go against an entire country is useless and unnecessary. The United States has many issues involving animal abuse and denying animals their rights, yet nobody is saying don't come to America. The seal slaughter is a terrible thing but in my opinion going against the entirety of Canada is useless in battling the seal massacre.

I think it could be a great idea... But the thing is than it's illegal to hunt the little white one, we already have a law against that so, maybe to put a grey seal may change something... I mean, getting a law against the total hunting of the seal... Hopefully you'll have enough publicity to change something... I'm kind of ashamed of my country :S

Almost as good as the Pokemon designed plane from Japan.
The only reason Pokemon wins, is cause it has teh cute. Although, there is nothing cute about seal slaughter.

I have another idea...
For several months now our area has been airing ads promoting tourism in Canada, featuring what appear to be vacation videos showing all the fun things one can do up there, such as hang gliding, hiking, river rafting, whale watching, etc.
Why doesn't PETA air a parody of those...a vacation video shot of a bunch of tourists oohing and cooing over a baby seal, when into the shot walks a seal hunter, who grins and says "Watch this!" and raises the hakapik.
The shot would then cut to the tourists reacting to what they are seeing, as well as getting spattered with the blood, and then a shot of the unfortunate victim. As the hunter picks up the skin and walks away, he looks over his shoulder and says to the tourists, "How ya liken Canada now, eh?"

i think it's good you wanna get your ideas and messages out there and get people thinking.
but i assume airlines do not wanna do this because they don't wanna face ridicule and judgment. after all, they do cater to diverse populations. and they don't wanna lose customers. they are in the business for money. not because they enjoy helping people get from one destination to another. it's a money making business.

BB you are aware obviously that such ill-will and hostility towards Canada will collapse entirely once the massacre ends, and we would instead see billboards on planes saying "GO TO CANADA" and make it three months as a guest worker or something, which is my plan once the massacre ends. And we would then expect Canada to join us in the fight against whaling, in fact if Canada set a good example by going first, and abolishing it's seal massacre you might even inspire Japan to give up it's whaling atroctity, and Australia to give up it's live sheep exporting/joey clubbing industries.

Autralia won't stop exporting sheep until other countries, especially the Middle East, stop buying them, which they won't, citing religious tradition. Japan will not stop hunting whales, again citing tradition as the reason. I have no idea why Austalia clubs joeys, perhaps they feel they have too many in which case I would ask them whose fault might that be? Did you perhaps exterminate whatever predator kept them in check because they were also killing all those sheep you introduced you introduced to Australia?
