I disagree. I praise Jamie Oliver for enlightening his countrymen about the impact to animal welfare that factory farming has. While I am a vegan myself and advocate for veganism, it unrealistic to think everyone is going to become vegan. If people wish to eat meat, Jamie is advocating that people pay more money for animals to have a better quality of life. What celebrity chef in the U.S. has even mentioned animal welfare, unless coerced by animal rights groups.

My question is. Do they have to be so undressed? I am just concerned with any children pasing by. I became a vegetarian after seeing a program on 'Dirty Job' about what they do to horses and pigs, etc. It made so very outrageous that I went on their blog to make a commnet about their appearent insensitivy on the animals discomfort.

Congratulations to these brave and beautiful Mothers-to-be.
Their children will be so lucky to have such compassionate Moms.
The gestation crates for sows are so horrible in the US too.

Kudos, girls! It's a shame that we have to use shock tactics to get people to realize the horrors that they are inflicting on innocent animals, but if that's what we have to do, then so we shall. If people are willing to put it in their mouths, they ought to be willing to know where it came from.

Catherine, I like watching Jamie cook (though I am vegan too). I remember one show where an animal was being led to slaughter and Jamie said "if this bothers you, you should be vegetarian". Good point. Maybe it is good to target Jamie Oliver because he has a heart and actually gets it.

WOW! Awesome demo (wooo-hoooo girls!) and to hell with anyone who thinks otherwise. Animals are man's friends and aquaintences, not for consumption. We have so much to learn from the animal world! I have one question to anyone who eats fleash of another, 'if you had to kill it would you still eat it?' You'd be amazed how many times I get a NO response.

Maybe it's because I love animals so much, but this really seems to get lost in translation. It doesn't impact me like the pigs that were displayed by some other folks here in the states. You know, the ones that were either paper mache or plastic, I don't remember which, but they were used outside grocery stores with signs saying "This is Factory Farming" I thought that was very effective. I guess it's a difference of opinion, probably having to do with my utter contempt for the human race. Personally, I would like to put a few human forms (people) in those gestation crates, keep them there for a few years, on a pig farm, then take them to a slaughter house for a front row seat, then interview them and see how appealing pork products are to them then.

Britain has a higher tolerance of nudity (check closely - they do have an undie on of sorts) than here in US.

This is one attention getting demo!

Congrats and thanks to those ladies braving the elements like that while pregnant - this really shows what the factory animals go through.

I actually agree with you on this one. I think PETA is straying from the point on this one. Personally I would be more moved if they presented pictures of the pigs in cages. Using pregnant women for this stunt is childish and is good for nothing more than a cheap laugh. I would venture a guess that this will turn off more people than it will turn on (no pun intended).

Excuse me for being ignorant, but wouldnt something else be more helpful other than being a naked pig mom? I don't think the nudity was necessary, and I don't think that you got the right point across. I think the point that got across was that the women of PETA are more than willing to show off their naked bodies. To me, it makes no sense what you did. Maybe if you went and did this in front of a slaughterhouse? Just a thought...
