KFC's Colonel Gets Axed--Literally

Colonel Sanders got a taste of his own medicine when PETA marked the Association of Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchisees Convention in Maryland last month by "slaughtering" the Colonel outside a nearby KFC restaurant.
Luckily for the brave actor portraying Colonel Sanders, our slaughter methods are a bit more humane than those employed by KFC's suppliers. The Colonel was not slammed into shackles (which often breaks birds' legs), he wasn't jolted by an electrified "stun bath," and he wasn't dunked into a scalding-hot defeathering tank. Nope—we just strung him up, poked him with a plastic knife, and let the red paint fly. But it made a darned nice visual, didn't it?

Ummmm.... I usually love the work/demonstrations that you guys at PETA do but I think the message we want to send here is NON-VIOLENCE. And we certainly don't want to associate a sense of killing or revenge for any living being with PETA or other animal lovers. I understand that you're trying to relay a message of karma here, but I really think there are much more tasteful ways of doing it... and you have done better campaigns than this in the past, PETA.

Thats fine! i wish they can do the same her ein China Beijing! and other parts of the country!! Ppl have to do stuff like that to make everybody aware of this and those who enjoy meat when they dont even care how the chicken/bull/duck/pig died!! THey eat the meat of an animals who has suffered and moaned so badly!! i for one have boycot kfc and im not buying anything that contains meat from Mc D's!!! ( here in beijing )

The title is misleading. Col. Sanders was not "literally" axed, inasmuch as he's been dead many years and a "stand-in" (or "hang-in") had to be "axed" in his place.

YAY! I can't believe I ever went to that place, ugh it's a shame. I hope more people learn about KFC and help put it out of business that way those little chickens will be saved :)

I like it, I signed a petition a few years ago against KFC and how they kill their chickens. Every time someone mentions eating KFC I tell them not to go there...

When this took place in Atlanta in front of a huge crowd, everyone was watching and almost everyone was taking a photo with their cell phones. Very effective action and fun too!

The mistreatment, trauma, torture, abuse and bloody deaths that chickens are subjected to are unpardonable transgressions perpetrated by mankind.

I always new that they were doing something to their chickens... I also heard that they stomp on their chicken to catch them...Have you ever gotten a broken check leg? That's why!

Yes! That felt, GREAT! Karma baby is a B----!
I am not a violent person! However, sometimes you have to get the point on target! In this case, it felt like the message is clear. "As ye sew, shall ye reap!"
and furthurmore, it is nothing at all close the the savergery the kentucky fried GREED mongers are doing to rthe beautiful, HELPLESS, cretures!
Karma-Its time!

OMG! KFC kills and de-feathers its chickens before it cooks them?? thats sick.
Posted by: SAVETHEVEGETABLES69 | March 24, 2009 07:55 AM
So... exactly how are they meant to prepare the chicken before it is to be cooked?
Or are you saying that chickens should not be killed for food?
That'd be nice... a world of excess disease-ridden poultry.
You would have to cull the animals and keep their numbers down to help sustain their eco-system (and the eco-system) of many other animals.
What would be better? Killing the animals because there are too many, or killing the animals for food?
Hmmm.

I like it! I like it alot!
Love it when you guys make me laugh.
RohanBlack, take your flak somewhere else. You are a mindless moran.
This is not the bird cooking/culling channel. Notice the chicken at the top of the page.
OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhh, when the chickens come home to roost. That's going to be a very bad day for the BLOOD SUCKING VAMPIRES.

Oh my gosh THE LADIES ARE so brave and FANTASTIC!!!!!
Posted by: Joanne | March 24, 2009 05:55 PM
Rohan, there would not be "a world of excess disease-ridden poultry" if people stopped eating chickens, because there would be no more need to BREED them you idiot! Right now you are merely eating disease-ridden poultry (yeah, check out some of the books about Bird Flu and find out all of the yummy things you are eating when you devour chicken...).
