It's the second-ever Win It Wednesday here at the PETA Files, and we have a fun one for you this week. To celebrate the launch of McCruelty.com, we're giving away "Unhappy Meals" to 10 lucky commenters. An Unhappy Meal is a lot like a McDonald's Happy Meal—it comes with toys, anyway—but our version also contains a super-sized order of reality at no extra charge. It includes a bloody chick who's so drugged up that he can't stand on his own feet as well as a cow whose throat was cut while she was still conscious—all inside a carton printed with the facts about McDonald's cruelty.

How do you win? Just leave us a comment letting us know what you'd say to Ronald McDonald if you could. I know you'd all like to give him a piece of your mind, but try to keep it PG-13 so that your comment will be approved. The 10 cleverest commenters will receive one of these limited-edition Unhappy Meals.
The contest ends on March 4, 2009, and we'll choose 10 winners on March 5, 2009. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting. Check back every Wednesday for new prizes. Good luck!

I would ask Ronald McDonald how he would feel if he was in the cow or chicken's position-how would he like to have his throat slit, and remain conscious while being sliced up for Happy Meals?; or would he like being so drugged, yet possibly still feeling pain just to be turned into chicken nuggets?-I don't think he will be "lovin' it" anymore. Then I would encourage him to get McDonalds places to adopt a more vegetarian-friendly menu, which is healthier and people, and the animals, will definitely be "lovin' it"!

I used to think I was really cool on the special occasion my mom would being me McDonald's for lunch. Ugh...how times have changed.

How come I can't have a bloddy chicken toy in a happy mean like the unhappy meal ronald?

I would ask ronald...is your hair and shoes red because of all the blood of the innocent animals you kill for your ''happy meals''? he probably uses it as dye!!!

I'd tell Ron McDonald that only a real clown would peddle cruel products to children! (I know, that was easy...)
Posted by: Matt | February 18, 2009 11:19 AM
I really think Ronald McDonald should put himself in the animals position. He should think about how horrifying it is to have your throat slit while you are still alive and able to feel pain.He should also think about how horrible it must be to be so drugged that you can't even stand up.There are differences between free chickens and factory chickens. My aunt owns a hen that I really love. It chose a little hole on the hill where my aunt lives. With so many plants thriving around, it remained so happy. She also had pigs that loved to take baths when they got hot.The chickens loved to walk with the pigs. The pigs would get on their backs and liked it when the chickens and chicks walked on their stomachs. The animals liked to walk in the sun and then go under trees when they got hot and tired. Factory animals can't do any of those things. If McDonalds really loves it's customers, they would adopt more humane ways and have a heart for animals.

I would tell him to quit clowning around with these poor animals lives. I'd tell him if he still felt the need to kill them for food to at least let their lives be easier.
Posted by: John Maynus | February 18, 2009 11:30 AM
I would ask Ronald if he would like to take pieces of me and turn them into chicken nuggets because there no difference eating me to eating a chicken.
Lol that would be great to see his face reaction!

Mr. McDonald, I will be brutally truthful with you. I do not like clowns. I have always felt that men and women who cover their faces with paint have something to hide, and McDonald's certainly does. Your company broke a promise, sir...the way your company treats animals is reprehensible, and it makes you a liar. You are untrustworthy and should not be allowed to communicate with children. I will not be patronizing your restraunt until your company makes the changes PETA has requested, and then apologizes to the public on national television for all the lies it has told over the years, including the infameous "Hamburger Patch" lie (it should be a deadly sin to lie to children about where their food comes from).
God be with you sir...you will need Him.

Ronald McDonald, you poor clouwn. I dare you to tour a slauterhouse and then look a child in the eyes and hand him or her a happy meal with a clear conscience and knowing that child is going to eat a brutally murdered animal. Please let me know how the tour went, that is if you were clown enough.

I would tell Ronald that he can't hide his lies under all that clown make-up forever ! and to use his jumpsuit to jump on board, with PETA's help of course, to make the lives of the animals he kills for his restaurants better ! ..or jump on the veg train and make the golden arches vegan ! ;] (that would be amazing) ha.
omg i want that unhappy meal !
i love the idea

I'd ask why he's smiling so much when animals are suffering for his business.
Posted by: Philip | February 18, 2009 06:20 PM
I think that Ronald has to paint that smile on his face because behind that makeup he has to be a sad person for letting all of those bad things happen to those sweet animals. He should try getting a side kick called the VEGIburgler!
Posted by: deedee | February 18, 2009 06:52 PM
I've been trying to convince my friends to be vegetarian and do NOT ask how they would like an animals position. They say "I would be glad I'm dying for a purpose" and it goes downhill from there. Read Animal Liberation by Peter Singer. He has some REALLY good arguements toward the end.
Posted by: Brandon | February 18, 2009 07:21 PM
Id tell him that He may "love to see us smile" but i doubt he'll be getting anything but frowns when hes exposed for the the clown he really is. No wonder so many people are afraid of clowns!
Posted by: Alyssa | February 18, 2009 08:25 PM
Great idea love it(well not what's really happening of course) lol!!
Here's what I would say:
Ronald...or should I say Grim Reaper, do YOU actually happens before your that food gets turned into a "happy" meal? It's time you learned the truth. If you saw the videos, of what happens "behind the scense, you'd quite your job...although you would probably then join the Ringling Brothers...anyways(lol). You are supposed to be a role model, not a role model for cruelty! If you help stop all the saddness and at least have vegan food, you'd be a great role model! All the kids would want to meet you!!...and our PETA people too lol...
Kids don't want cruel meals...they want happy meals so give them nonanimal food!! GO GREEN, GO VEG!
Posted by: Carley Pysher | February 18, 2009 08:38 PM
OK Mr.McDonald I always heard that hype of clowns being creepy murderers boy is that true with you!Do you have any Idea how much factory animals suffer for your "happy" meal boxes. If you walk in the shoes of these animals ,You would be shrieking to the top of your lungs.I will protest you among Peta.I'm hating it!
Posted by: Amilkar Romero | February 18, 2009 09:29 PM
Hey Ronald,
Your dirty little secret is out. No, I'm not talking about what you did to Grimace to make him so anxious. I am referring to the cruel way you treat your chickens before slaughtering them.
Clowns are creepy enough when they don't torture defenseless animals.

When I was younger before I was a vegetarian, I used to love it when me and my mum went shopping and we could go to McDonald's and get a happy meal. But where I live I don't even think the McDonald's has a vege burger! And I stopped liking their foods because it was very greasy and made me feel sick. But now I absolutely LOATHE McDonald's! I will never eat there again in my life and will make sure none of my friends of family eat there until the torture stops. How would Ronald like it if someone pumped him with drugs, scaled him alive and sold his dead carcass £0.89? He is the reason children have phobias of clowns!

why?
or better yet how?
how you you willingly allow something like this to happen when you have the ultumate power to stop it?
how would you feel if you were the chicken or the cow being abused?
how can your brain block out all of the cruel and crude deaths taking place because you said they should?
i really hope you realize that there are better ways to slaughter. CAK would be amazing.
i hope this keeps you up at night....

Posted by: WENDY HORN | February 19, 2009 08:10 PM
You know why you, Ronald McDonald, are the McDonalds mascot? They wanted to keep the animal abuse market close to the circus industry so they hired a clown (in job and nature). You've already had experience torturing animals at Barnum's so you're automatically qualified to propagate the killing of cows and chickens. You know what they say about clowns? They're retarded!

Ronald,
I believe that children and animals alike are innocent beings. Happy to be alive they thrive in a nuturing environment. Children have no idea that the happy little cows, pigs, and chickens they see in their story books ended up in a cramped cage, only to be throw into a truck and hauled off to that place that is usually well hidden from the publics' view- "The Slaughterhouse". Well the animals don't know that either. Until they get there of course! I would never want to know what if feels like to be an animal in the line of death, hearing the screams of pain and torture of those before me. Only to realize the line is getting shorter and you are getting closer to that awful sound and the men with sharp knives. Ronald how can you be any figure in a child's life? You hide behind your big red smile, knowing that it is really covering a horrifically bloody industry.
This is only a means of diverting the real tortorous truth. Knowing all along that as the line gets shorter at the slaughterhouse, the line gets longer at McDonalds. I am not loving it, niether are the animals involved who have no voice. I am sure an innocent child would never eat any living being if they saw what happened to them at one of your farms or processing facilites. They would not being loving it either. How could you love it? And stand behind it? Maybe that is why you use the clown costume to cover your true feelings! Because you don't love it either. Please find the courage to stand up for what is right. Stop the uneeded torture and lies about McDonalds. We would have more respect for someone who does right. Not someone who hides behind a mask in shame to condone the wrongs.

Ronald,
This is a letter to you stating the facts of my life as they were led in one of your farms. I was born in a clear box, as I looked up at the light shining down from me above I felt all warm and cozy. I was with thousands of other cute little yellow chicks in this warm light. I was grabbed by one of those people that were hired by you and ripped from my cozy atmosphere. I was taken to another part of the plant as were the others. When we got there, I was grabbed by the neck and a hot iron was pressed against my pink little beak. It hurt like you can't even believe. The chicks around me were in a panic after they saw me endure the scolding hot iron. Knowing that they would be next. My face will never be the same. I have no beak, it is just a hole at the tip now! I was then escorted to the room that I was to be sexed and dewinged in. My wings were somehow snipped so that I can not spread them proudly. That not only hurt my body but my pride in who I am. I also happen to be a little girl. Therefore, I was condemned to live my life as a boiler hen. I did not know that the ugly rusted metal cage I see getting closer to me will be my home for the rest of my life. I was put there 2 years ago now! I have been in the same crammped cage with about 15-20 other chickens. Some have died from the sheer stress of being cramped for so long. I now know why my beak was burned off of me. I would have killed every other chicken in this cage just to freely move a few inches. Since then I have been forced to produce thousands of little chicks of my own. I know that they will also be walked down the same cruel path that I have. I am getting old by indusrty standards now! I am not laying as many eggs as I used to, and I am so tired of standing in this cage where I can't spread my wings or lay down at all. I think I am going crazy. To my relief one day I was taken out of the cage and the dark chicken shed that I have lived my life in. I prayed for this day. Thank you for getting me outta here finally. The guy who grabbed me hurt me so bad taking me out of that cage, I thought he was going to break my neck on the spot. I thought this was the end of the torture I have already been through. I along with the others in my cage and the surrounding cages were thrown violently into small bread like boxes. Chickens were going crazy with the unknown. I and my group of chickens I have lived with were the first to get packed into the boxes. We were then thrown onto a big white truck. We were placed in the very front of the truck. It tooks so many hours it seemed before all the boxes were loaded with us and we were finally jolted with the start of the truck. It didn't take us long to get to our next stop. We were now being unloaded. It took only a short time with all the people at this new location to get us out of the truck. When we arrived inside I saw yet again my fellow chickens being ripped from the small bread like boxes we were jammed into. I saw with my own eyes, my friends being taken to a metal hook and placed upside down. I could not for the life of me figure this out. As I sat in my bread box looking at the scene, I began to see what was taking place. I watched the first chicken that was hung, go on a mechanical path to horror. She was trying with all her might to free herself from the metal binds that were ever so tightly on her legs. Wings flapping wildly and feathers all over the place she proceeded down to the scolding tank. As she approached this tank, a woman on the processing line took a shiney object that had a very sharp point on it and grazed the throat of the hanging bird. This act caused so much blood to come out. This bird was in so much distress I could not stand to watch it anymore. The chicken on the hook flapped and flapped in mortal pain and the feathers came out of the bird from the agony of trying to free herself from the metal hooks that were binding her to her death. The bird was then moved down the path to the big tank that was simmering and steaming with heat. She was then passed through this tank. I can't put into words what I saw. I can only say that I hoped nothing like that would ever happen to me. The screams were painfully loud. I do not know how no one has heard this and done something to stop this procession of death. Where are all the people who loved animals? As the day continued, this is the pattern I saw. I knew in my heart of hearts I would also be in this line. I have no words to discribe the feelings of terror running through me. I was only able to flap wildly in my cage listening to the bloodshed of the day. Before I knew it I saw a bright light. I was thanking again whoever had freed me from this violence. I was now in a warm cozy place again. It felt like the time I spent in the clear cage just shortly after my birth. I was so warm and finally at a place of rest. I would only know this feeling from now on. For I was now temporarily entombed in a cardboard box. What was this thing I was now in? When I rose above the lights I had seen so many times before, I looked down only to see the Golden Arches that caused my pain, suffering and finally my death. It said McDonald's "I'm loving it".

I wouldn't tell Ronald McDonald anything. It's a character. A character manifested to sell a product. Sales tactics are born out of the public desire to embrace them. The correct way to circumvent the public adoration for such characters is to take the desire out of people to want to dine on animals. This is not done by laying on sidewalks, throwing paint, or any other kind of PSEUDO-radical movements. No one wants to listen to your point of view when you don't approach it in an intelligent manner. As animal rights activists and vegetarians, "we" have made significant progress - in the days of cavemen, "we" (this time, "we" meaning people in general) relied on meat because that's what was available to us. Over time, we're lucky enough to have been able to establish acceptable vegetarian lifestyles. THIS IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS. People who are not vegetarian are not necessarily ready to embrace a vegetarian diet. It's a difficult path for some. There are some who, instead of trying to slowly adapt their friends into adopting delicious vegetarian options, would rather throw blame, and hatred towards them for not seeing their way. Simply taking your own stand is the way to make a change. Your voice is never unheard. Each meal that does not contain meat that you order, or purchase, is your vote to stand against the slaughter of animals. Throwing fake blood and mocking established fast food restaurants will fall on deaf ears unless we approach the situation rationally and do something worth our time.
PETA. Please give your prized, limited edition "Unhappy Meal" to one of these other people who apparently thrive on your methods of imposing your personal views on other people without regard for tradition or personal lifestyle, whether it be abhorrent or not. I'll keep on what I'm doing on my proper level. We'll see who makes a change.
Posted by: chris | February 21, 2009 01:13 AM
Hate to inform you people, but all of these comment-complaints aren't going to change anything. So, get off your butt and talk to the people in charge; take action instead of writing these "comments".

There is a reason your job is to pretend to be a clown! Its that McCyD's needs a cover-up! Clowns are supposed to be funny! You sir are not a funny guy! You spend your days making children think that it is okay to eat the animals-That they don't feel a thing and that they want to give their lives for our lunches.
I am a child, and you are one of the reasons I will never eat at McDonalds! How can you sit there smiling about how they cut up cows to stick them on bread and eat?!!? This is 2009 Ronnald! We have the technology to be able to be vegetarians and vegans and be perfectly healthy! Healthier-actually than the Standard American Diet! Hey-look at that SAD!!

Ronald McDonalds, you and your whole franchise are nothing but, scummy, dirty, liars. Clowns wear paint to hide, and that's just what you do. Coward from the truth that you are cruel plain murderers. You rip beautiful animals from a serene environment, turning it into pire terror. Watch out, because if you see me I'll have a pair of shackles and a knife waiting just for you.

*slits his throat* How do you like it?
haha just kidding as inhumane as he is, i wouldn't be able to do something like that
anyways i would say:
"Besides from destroying our rainforests so you can have cheap farm land, your treatment of your cattle is highly unethical and cruel. Your slaughter methods are so medieval and inhumane and produce meat go into products which consist of about 2% meat cos its packed full of a load of other c**p that people don't need in their diets. How would you feel being taken from your family and being hung upside down by your legs - whilst we're on the subject of legs your pants are hideous - and having your throat slit, thrashing about, bleeding, writhing in pain, screaming, oh yea, they scream too. How would you feel being packed into tiny confined spaces which are probably no bigger than your puffy clown shirt with others? Suffocating from the weight of others on top of you, smelling the rotting flesh of others dying about you? Being unable to walk because you can't support your own steroid enduced weight, having your beak cut off so you can't preen yourself? How would you feel being one of them?"
That'd wipe the smile off his face don't you think?

The devil likes to keep himself well hidden, you know. Like the pigs, birds and cows abused far away from the viewing public, whose dead and dismembered carcasses are the centerpiece of the Devils Table.
The Devil, also known as the FATHER OF LIES likes to decieve children and tell them hamburgers are grown in a garden. Liar, Liar is that your pants on fire?

Thanks for the compliment on my writing Mike Q. That was nice of you!
As for Chris...It sounds like you are not a vegetarian? Are you? Sounds like you have been force fed this idea? It is your choice. Remember that people on this site are the one who truely love animals.
Throwing fake blood and doing live demonstration is "RATIONAL". An "Irrational" move would be to go "POSTAL" at one of these slaughterhouses or the PERDUE Headquarters. Like you said it falls on deaf ears. I wonder why. Because these people who we would like to get to listen to us are "MEATHEADS". Hello. They need a visual demonstration because they believe the lies that they were told from childhood. That meat is needed for the health of a person. That was a propaganda created in the early 1900's by the Surgeon General. It created a mass panic in people. Do your research. We have come a long way since we have become educated on our own. Leave the gov out of it. Their hands are bloody too! There are the people in congress that want you to support the milk, egg and meat companies so they can continue to receive their monetary handouts to perpetuate the industry. PETA educated me as a child about the issues that animals face everyday! I seem them as the ones that told me the truth as far as I am concerned. My parents lied to me, and so did every person that thought it was okay for me to eat high fat, cholesterol laden, artery blocking, churned up sick animals. I will forever be thank full to PETA and all that they have done over the years for animals. I think they should all give themselves more than a pat on the back. Why is it that whenever anyone stands up for those without a voice, they are immediately shunned in society? PETA has literally changed some of us forever. I only hope that they could change more of us.

I would slip the following fake newspaper that I made under Ronald's door:
(On the front page)
Studies show clowns and cruelty don't mix
Researchers have recently come out with a study showing that clowns who are cruel to animals have an increased risk of being a pathetic low life. Supporting barbaric methods to kill chickens was particularly noted as being the single greatest risk factor in combination with one being a clown. "Despite their happy demeanor, clowns who engage in cruel acts to animals are generally pathetic low lifes", said Chick McGee, the head researcher of the study. The future is not entirely grim for those with the associated risk factors. When asked the best way to prevent from becoming a low life, McGee responded: "If you're a clown in the restaurant business, the best way is to adopt more humane ways of killing animals. Controlled atmosphere killing seems to be a more humane alternative to the cruel practices used by some clowns."

I think the Ronald McDonald is a SOCIOPATH!!! He obviously has no conscious. He brainwashes innocent children into eating so-called "food" that is the equivalant of poison. The "food" at McDonald's is produced by treating animals in a way that's so evil and cruel it denys that they are even living beings. And the "food" at McDonald's causes obesity, heart disease, it's poison to one's health and soul and it tastes like poop!! Obviously, anyone who disregards the lives and health of both humans and animals to make a profit has a serious mental disorder!!!

WOW there are a lot of people here with amazing coments about how animals should be treated[nicely], but when you look at these coments you also see a large amount of people who are only typing what they think and not really helping AT ALL, yes mabye someone will see these comments and change, but will they do something to stop cute little cows and chickens being killed. All I'm saying is someone on this page should really DO somthing!!!!!

I would ask Ronald...how he has stayed skinny all these years from eating that awful food? And why aren't the kids on his commericials ever chubby? I mean, really.

Just a reminder, Ronald McDonald is not a real person. You all are talking about him like he's real.

I would tell Ronald that it is companies like his that are making the world more and more cruel, very day, day after day, very slowly until finally the world ends up killing each other because we are so cruel

I don't belive children should be given those meals. It is awful for kids to see those meals. I love animals. Those meals are just pushing it a little too far. I hope you post opposing view points. That will show you are fair and that we are in america. Please find other ways to get your point across. Thank you.

I've never liked any fast food places. I hate the fact that not only to animals have to die for the cheapness of it but they have to be consious when that happens. Its like going to prision for the death penalty and not doing anything wrong but being themselves. Really, this country is pathetic

I like the central message, it is important to respect what the poor animals are going through. Does any one know if we can purchase an unhappy meal, I like the toy and the box.

i basically get to the point and tell him that his happy meals aren't really happy.
he's being a liar.
to make those so called happy meals bad things had to happen.
both cows and chicken weren't happy in the process of the making on the happy meal.
then i would encourage him to be vegetarian.
The End.

I would ask him straight up what made him decide to brutally murder millions of innocent little chicks, and cows all for a meal. Then I would tell him how he can sleep at night, being personally responsible for all the pain he's caused so many sweet young animals, and or how he feels that his restaurant is also basically marketing obesity to young children
