When Ron Artest isn't sticking it to his opponents on the basketball court, he's sticking up for animals. That's why the Houston Rockets forward teamed up with us and the Houston Humane Society to star in an ad urging people to get their dogs "fixed."
"These animals are literally dying for a good home," says Artest, the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2003-2004 season. "Millions of dogs and cats in shelters across the country are euthanized every year because there simply aren't enough good homes for them. Spaying and neutering your [animal companion] will help control the overpopulation problem."
Artest unveiled the ad today in honor of Spay Day. Check out photos from the event below:

I want to thank Ron Artest for demonstrating his support for animal welfare. It's important for African-Americans to join the animal rights movement. Dick Gregory and Russell Simmons have been diehard activists and vegetarians. British vocalist Leona Lewis is another inspiring veggie. Vegetarians have soul and the best soul food is meatless at Soul Vegetarian East.

This is a very sexy man. Men should understand that this is what woman look for in a real man. Comapasion. And bold enough to speak up and stop future unwanted pets from being euthinised.

I just want to say that Ron Artest has made an amazing turn around.
When his dogs were taken from him because of neglect I will admit I wanted bad things to happen to him, but he has admitted he made a mistake and that he shouldn't have any animals while he's playing basketball since he doesn't have the time to take care of them.
He's now speaking out against animal cruelty and promoting spaying, neutering and adoption. He is truly remorseful and is doing everything he can to fix the bad image his previous actions have given him.
I respect what he's doing and wish that more people would follow his lead and support animal welfare.

Ron you are the greatest!!! thank you so much for sticking up for animals/dogs. Michael Vick should go around talking to school kids -tell them what he did to these dogs was cruel & totally unacceptable & he should also make an apology to the animals he killed. when he made his public statement-he said he was sorry to everyone but the dogs. I have strong doubts about this guy-anyone who could watch & enjoy his family pets fighting for their lives has serious mental problems.
