PETA is psyched to declare today our first-ever Win It Wednesday! Every Wednesday, right here on the PETA Files, we'll have a cool prize up for grabs. All you have to do is post a comment for a chance to win. This week, we're choosing three lucky winners to take home the exclusive PETA Crow and Roach couture T-shirt, which is popping up in all the most fashionable circles these days.
Hip L.A. T-shirt company Spiders & Caviar designed and made this limited-edition shirt especially for PETA. It's super-soft, super-cute, and could be super-free!

How do you win? This shirt reminds us that all animals—even less popular ones such as crows and roaches—are important. What is your favorite animal, and why? Post your answer in a comment to be entered! If you're a winner, we'll also ask you to tell us which style and size T-shirt you prefer.
The contest ends on February 25, 2009, and we'll choose the most endearing comments as the winners on February 26, 2009. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you're agreeing to both by commenting. Check back every Wednesday for new prizes. Good luck!

Win it Wed! Very cool!
I like all animals, but as luck would have it I am lately obsessed with crows. They are really fascinating. Each morning when I bring my dogs out for walk (love dogs too!), I watch groups of crows fly overhead. They then disperse into smaller groups and several hang out in the field near my house. They are very social.
I had a real treat a couple nights ago when about 1000 crows flew nearby. I am guessing on their way to the place they call home at night. It was amazing!

The best type of animal is an alive and well animal.
Crotches (Crows and Roaches) are great too.
XSM please.

Ducks because I have an idea for this animated movie that would involved a duck.
Second place is cows. With the exception of being killed for meat all they do is sit around and just stand.....looking all non caring and what not about the world like the badasses they are.
Now free t-shirt please! :)

I would have to say that I love ALL animals.. but my favorite are dogs.. they are so intellectual and fun-loving! I absolutely adore them.
Posted by: Bailey | February 11, 2009 03:29 PM
My favorite animals are rats even though I found out that I am allergic to them. I have rescued many rats. Some from people who bred them to feed to snakes and from some caregivers that weren't responsible and became overwhelmed with a bunch of baby rats. I have saved older rats from petsmart. They were soon to be euthuanized because of so many times they were brought back and weren't people friendly.
I love rats because they are intelligent and amazing and often underestimated.

I have to say cats - affection combined with aloofness. I also like pigs...and I feel really bad when I see dozens of them crammed into trailers on my way home from work each day.

Don't you mean WHO is my favorite animal? Cinnamon is my favorite animal - she's a 4 year old mixed (and fixed) dog. It's hard to describe just how wonderful this girl is and I know I'll never be able to do her justice, but since you asked...
Cinnamon gives her love so freely and so completely that I'm sure she's an angel in disguise. She has a way of knowing when I'm in need - either I've seen something heartbreaking (like an undercover video) or I've seen something that infuriated me (like an undercover video) and she comes and works her magic. If I'm standing or storming around she'll get in front of me and standing on her back legs she puts her front paws on my stomach, stretches up up and looks directly into my eyes. When I'm sitting down and am upset, she'll come to me, make eye contact and then crawl into my lap. She's always happy and clearly wants me to be too. With her help I am.
(But don't tell her brother and sisters that I said she's my favorite!)

From the first moment I spotted one (it was burbling up bubbles from the bottom of a river as I canoed past), I have loved hippopotamuses.
Hippos grow fat and happy, splashing about and playing with their friends and family. Most of all they show the placid calm of an animal with not a natural predator in the world -- an animal, in other words, that doesn't have to worry about being killed. Would that all animals had the same luxury.

My Favorite animal is MY dog, Atticus.

Awesome! Those are really awesome shirts!!
My favourite animal are hamsters! They just prove that even the smallest creatures on this earth are living beings and can carry the best personalities! They are just too adorable too!

I love all animals! However, I have to say that seakittens hold a special place in my heart. They come in so many shapes and sizes and are all so very unique. It drives me crazy that when I tell people I am a vegan/vegetarian they always ask me if I eat fish. Of course not, they have feelings too!

Hey PETA!
What a great selection of t-shirts, i certainly do hope they are a huge hit and that whomever wins these will wear the proudly to help expose people to the FANTASTIC work of PETA.
Kudos to everyone helping animals, with love from us here in Ireland.

It's a little hard for me to choose one animal above any other, but one of my very favorite animals is the city pigeon, otherwise known as the rock dove.
They are sweet, friendly, and resourceful, and tests show that they are very clever. What's more, they are one of the last remaining signs of animal life in many cities!
Why do we think of white doves as the ultimate symbol of peace and love, but consider rock doves a nuisance?
Posted by: Canaduck | February 11, 2009 04:53 PM
I personally like the crow better. I always say hello to the birds (and geese) in the morning and I feed them bread crumbs and what not. My cat likes to watch them (from inside) and they look at him like "haha you can't get us!". But I like crows better, they are amazing. I mean seriously! They can fly! Can you fly? Nope. But crows can!

Pigs!
They're smart & adorable.

I love all animals and their unconditional love for us! But dogs and wolves have always been and will always be my favorite. I think the reason I feel this way is because a dog has always been a member of my family. I just feel a special connection with them for whatever reason.

My favorite animal (besides my pet) would be a chicken. The abuse they go throw. What a life! At the rate americans eat chickens I would say they are an endagered species.

i don't pick favorites when ALL animals are beautiful & unique in their own ways.
i love them all !

I love all animals. but ever since wall-e came out, i kind of have a things for roaches, and i nursed a baby crow back to health when it feel from an abandoned nest. however hedgehogs are my all time favorite. who doesn't love sonic the hedgehog!

Turtles. Loved them for as long as I can remember. I grew up and still live on a lake so i am always rescuing turtles trying to cross the road, sinking turtle traps and feeding them my yummy vegan bread when i get a new loaf and the old one is still good! Turtles are just so clever and contrary to popular belief they are quite fast lil buggers, and very athletic! Try to watch them take off in the water next time you get the chance and you will se what i mean! They are very versatile and are able to live in and out of water... Plus, turtles are victims more than other animals. When fishers use nets they catch these magnificent intelligent turtles that often are older than humans and they die...Or, people hunt them for their shells and meat even though they are on endangered species lists...

I love Turkeys, not only because their sweet, cute and smart but because I had the pleasure of rescuing 4 turkeys from being made into food , now everyday I get to go outside and sit with them and talk to them, and they will "talk" back in their own way. They follow me around. On sunny days I love just sitting and watching them watch me. They've taught a lot of my neighbors and family that they arent just "food" their living brathing feeling animals with a lot to live for.

One more thing I love about Turkeys is their VEGETARIAN!
Posted by: Marissa | February 11, 2009 06:27 PM
I like horses, they are so gentle and understanding. Humans have such a connection with them and they with us.

I like all animals
But squirells and tigers are my fave! Squirrels are very adorable, sometimes i make a noise with my mouthh and they'll scurry closer nd closer to you when i was about 3 i was holding an eggcorn and a squirell just came up and took one from me and it made me laugh. Tigers i like because theyre fierce and beautiful, very fiery they remind me of myself sometimes.
ahh love this idea peta!!

Cats are my fave animal, all cats, big & small. They are so intelligent & misunderstood. All I have to say to cat haters is "Have you ever taken the time to really see & know a cat?" They are really sweet but take no crap from anyone. You have to earn their love (just like me) but once you do, they'll love you forever.

Zombtaro is a mean little creature I met while walking to my apartment. She was digging feverishly in the rocks along the path and making a mess. So I bent down low to get a look at the cute dirty thing. As I did she snarled a gnarly little snarl and spiked up her sharp little claws in my direction. I jumped back in shock, thinking I was under attack. Poor little hamtaro I thought. Why would someone let you escape? Was I witnessing a lost hamster trying to dig a home in the rocks? No! She was no hamster. She was a gofer. Now I heart Zombtaro my friend the gofer.

My favorite animal has to be a rat! There so cute and extremely smart. I have adopted 3 rats from a shelter and they have learned so much without me even teaching them. They can open there cage on there own and they when i pass there cage they always make a squeaking sound.. Its soo cute!

My favorite animal is Elephants! What's not to love about elephants? Their smart sweet and of course adorable.

I honestly love ALL animals. Even spiders! I never let my parents or friends crush them; whenever they find them I beg them to call me so I can save them and return them safely to the outside world :) But if I absolutely had to chose, dogs would be my favorite animal. Especially my dog Rudy... he's my greyhound and my best friend. He can read me better than Anyone; I rarely verbalize my feelings but he Always knows when something's wrong. This past weekend a friend of mine died in a car accident and every night since then he's crawled in bed with me and during the day he has been stuck on me like velcro! I honestly don't know what I would do without him. He's one of the most important things in my life and his unconditional love warms my heart and soul. :)

I've always liked owls. I grew up on Long Island and I could hear them at night. But I never saw one in the wild, only at local zoos. Four years ago I moved to Atlanta and last fall, I saw my first wild owl. I was walking my dog and I looked up and in a tree, on a branch not too far from my head, was an owl. It was looking at me. I stopped in my tracks and I just stared at the owl. He/She was beautiful. My dog also saw the owl and we all stood there, watching each other. I wish I had had my camera with me that day.

I can't really choose. I like most animals. Unfortunately, being allergic to fur, I could have only certain kinds of animals, and so I ended up actually playing with ants (when I was about 6). It was fun. I made them a building out of a nearly-empty jar of jam and some sticks and leaves and brought them cube sugar once in a while...

My favorite animal would have to be dogs. Not only will they listen to anything you have to say, they are loyal and caring. I do not know where I would be if I did not have my dogs in my life.

Currently, I'm head-over-heels for a pudgy little rescue rat with dumbo ears named Wilbur. He's still learning to be gentle when I hand-feed him and he's not very good about his litter box, but all in all, he's a charmer!

My favourite animal is definitely a dolphin. They are always so playful and in the best of spirits.
Dolphins are like the angels of the ocean, if a whale is lost or stuck Dolphins will help them out and Dolphins have helped guide humans to safety on many occassions. The last is especially amazing after the way humans consistently slaughter Dolphins brutually in Taiji and other Japanese towns and how long liners pull them up in their nets with no regard to their lives at all. What an amazing creature to just forgive and love the way they do. Humans could learn alot from dolphins.

My favorite animal would have to be dogs. The way that they look at you with their eyes tells me that they have feelings and can understand love. I have a 7-year old toy poodle, and from the first moment I looked into her eyes, she had hooked! Now I could not imagine my life without her! She is a member of the family.

Ever since I was little my father has always had a collection of pig trinkets and stuffed animals. Most of his birthday and holiday gifts consisted of something pig themed. Like father like daughter, I too love pigs. They are incredibly intelligent and full of personality. One day when I am out of grad school and have the funds I aspire to run a pig rescue and let those "little" guys live out the rest of their lives having fun in the sun rather than in a skillet.

I think this is one of the best shirts ever! My favorite animal is by far dogs because no matter who you are or what you do they will still love you!

I am a true lover of animals. In my life I have parented birds, cats and dogs. While I have had more a say my fave are cats (big and small). They are so cute, smart, mysterious, playful and loving; all qualities that make them my favorite.

I LOVE Wolves! The pack is a large extended family where everyone has a part to play for the betterment of the group. They show each other love and affection. They are absolutely fascinating!
Posted by: Debra | February 12, 2009 01:26 PM
Porcupine! Look at it! It looks like a giant koosh ball! But I wouldn't try to pick one up, wouldn't end too well. :) Plus it has a pretty cool sign in sign language, annoys the hell out of my deaf friends to just randomly chime into a conversation with "PORCUPINE!"
Posted by: Meg | February 12, 2009 02:07 PM
Sign me up. I'd like one of those shirts :)
My favorite animal is the human because they have the capacity to show kindness and empathy towards nonhuman animals by going vegan and thereby improve their health and the health of the planet as well.

I love Canadian geese!!
I love listening to them converse in the air. I love watching their flight patterns!
I especially loved them the day the flock of geese overhead popped Dear Hubby with poop!! Never laughed so hard in my life!!

Hi! i am new to PETA and so far i love what i see! my favorite animals are tree frogs. i think they are so beautiful and exotic. there are so many different types, it just amazes me. i have plants all over my house and i have a bunch of little plastic tree frogs (very real looking!) that i put all over them. i also have the most amazing red doberman pinscher ever known to man. he is awesome and truly my buddy. he's too smart for his own good and he really loves me. i love him, too.
Posted by: thatgirl | February 12, 2009 05:57 PM
My favorite animal has to be spiders. Even though I'm too scared to take the big ones outside, when I find them in my house, I will manage somehow. I wouldn't kill a spider, no matter what size it is. God created it, and why should anybody have the right to kill it for the pathetic reason of SIZE?! Imagine there were no spiders. Spiders are fascinating. The webs they create, they climb everything, their speed, their eyes and their legs. They're like ninjas. :-)
I hope I will win this awesome PETA prize! Good luck to everyone, and lots of VEGAN Luvin'!

Like everyone else here, I love all animals. But by far my favorites are the orca and the horse. I just can't decide between the two! I just can't get over people who can harpoon these beautiful endangered animals or abuse and starve the other. Its sick. They are both so loving, beautiful, majestic, and peaceful. I can't get over how absolutely wonderful both are.
I LOVE the T-shirt, btw. I also think it would be amazing to give away a free anti-fur shirt. I've been planning on wearing one (after I finally buy one ;) ) on the train to and from school, because there's so many fur hags and Union station it makes me sick. I want to show them just what I think of them!
Love you guys!

My favorite family of animals is Cetacea. But to be more specie-ific, my very favorite animal is a BELUGA whale. Mostly because they are freaking adorable, but also they have the prettiest little voices that I love to listen to. Oh yeah, and can anyone say "Baby Beluga"??? The stupid, fur-wearing Olsen twins sure can! (Full House reference...)

What a neat idea! I love all animals, but I would say cockatiels! I rescued 4 of them over my lifetime and they have been such a joy!
Posted by: Meggan Anderson | February 12, 2009 11:46 PM
I really can't say. I mean all animals are unique in their own ways. Even if we don't see them the way other animals do and are frightened, it doesn't mean they really are. All animal deserves to live and I am so for that. And if I could choose just one animal, I couldn't say that. I would love to get to know nature and explore their natural habitats and really get to see what they are like without being in cages or performing. We say we are the smartest human...but who REALLY knows? That's what HUMANs think. And animals don't think the way we do, so how can we say that?
Anyways...(lol)...I really like all animals. Big, slimy, scally, furry, and everything inbetween. They are amazing and I thank God that he has created such amazing creatures to roam this earth and to explore, but we have abused that. We have take too much control and have hurt them. How can someone abuse or see an animal being abused and not care at all?
TO ALL ANIMALS-YOU ARE AWESOME!!

I love all animals by my favourite is penguins. I like them mostly because they are so adorbale and just seeing a picture of one puts a smile on my face for some strange reason ;)
But I also like them because they are very smart. Like during winter they each spend turns on the outside of the huddle and the mothers risk their lives during the march of the penguins in order to get food for their unhatched children.

My favorite animal hands down is the great white shark. My dad has been an animal lover since he was a little boy. But he's always been fascinated by sharks. I definately inherited his genes for compassion for animals because we've had just about every Kind of pet possible. But the both of us are crazy about sharks. In 6th grade I was actually excited to do a research paper on great whites! In fact, I was so excited I got an A! Haha yesss :) also, when daddy was 19 he got a tattoo of a shark on his shoulder and in 2008 for my 19th birthday he and I went to get a symbol of how alike we are and how close we are. It was the exact replica of the shark he has on the back of my neck. So to me, a shark represents how we are strong but peaceful, and how strong our relationship is. Sharks are so misunderstood and they are feared for the wrong reasons. They're beautiful and majestic. And before we die we want to swim with the sharks just to be able to be that close to something that means so much and inspires us. I can't wait! I love you Daddy :D

I also love all animals, though I would have to dedicate vegetarianism to my chicken Bomber who inspired me to go green. Chickens are so adorable, cuddly, and surprisingly the best pet I've ever had.
Posted by: Aisha | February 13, 2009 02:51 PM
Elephants, for sure. These majestic beings demonstrate a sense of peace and beauty as they roam across the savannah. Plus, I constantly use their massive size and strength to bust the myth that herbivores- whether human or not- are strong too.
Posted by: Beau | February 13, 2009 04:41 PM
I adore snakes. Most people I know are afraid of them, but I don't buy their bad rap. I find snakes to be mesmerizing in their grace and agility. It breaks my heart to see reptiles in glass cages, but I love to watch wild, free snakes in nature films.

One of my favorite animals are groundhogs, AKA the woodchuck. Other than forecasting the future of Winter/Spring these docile fuzzy pudge-balls are veiwed only as a nusiance. I exercise regularly in a cemetary near my house that has a "community" of groundhogs and I have found them to be fascinating, intelligent creatures who are family-oriented and excellent "excavators." When Summer approaches the cemetary is riddled with wire traps...this is when I get the most exercise, patrolling the area twice a day releasing the frightened herbivores!

My favorite animal is a panda. I am not quite sure what it is about them they attracts me to them; they are just so beautiful. BUT I do love ALL animals as well. =]

I love all animals (which is just one of the many reasons why I'm a vegetarian) so it is difficult to choose! One of my favorite animals are deer because they are very majestic and beautiful creatures with such soulful eyes.
Posted by: Lena | February 15, 2009 01:30 AM
I don't have any favorite animals, because then I would have to have a least favorite. But especially love Emus, Chickens, Turkey Vultures, Lobsters, Wolves, Rats and Cockroaches because they are all so abused and maligned, yet are all so gentle and would never hurt us. Also, I have some Cockroaches as friends so I'm pretty desprate to win that shirt. X3

My favorite animals are cats. Some of my earliest memories from childhood are of the first cat we ever had- Missy. I still remember that she went completely blind in her later years, but you would never know it. She continued to maneuver throughout the house as flawlessly as if she still had her vision. Mom remembers her being especially fond of me. Once, after she had spanked me for some sort of misbehavior, Missy was so angry that she walked into the kitchen where Mom was standing and smacked her with her paw!
All of my life we have had cats. All of them have been strays or rescues. We always provided them with proper veterinary care, good food, toys, and, of course, lots of love. Each one is unique--each endowed with their own fascinating personality, lovable quirks, and playful nature. I have enjoyed watching each one of them as they grew, learned new things, and developed new aspects to their personalities throughout the course of their lives.
And it hurts when it's time to say goodbye. As I write this, I have to fight back the tears because I just recently had to have the last of our family cats, A.P. (Adam Pussycat), put down due to complications of advanced stage kidney failure. We were in each other's lives for 18 years and I consider it a privilege to have been his caretaker. (The first time in my nearly 43 years that I have been without a cat.) I will be adopting another one in the near future, but first I want to acquire some new toys/supplies, order Ingrid's book about taking care of cats to get some new ideas, and finish grieving for A.P. I truly don't mean to ramble, but I adore cats and I loved my little guy very much.

Pigeons! Pigeons are just great. I had a pet pigeon who was not only adored by my family, but also completely charmed his old family. Unfortunately for his previous owner, she became so afflicted by lung problems, she could no longer keep him. (Pigeons are dusty birds.) Biggie the pigeon flew all over our house, fell madly in love with our cat, played tag, would fall asleep lying upside down in people's laps, and his gentle ways taught many children that birds are interesting and cool. Unfortunately, Biggie died from unknown causes about a year ago, and he's irreplaceable.
I also enjoy watching wild pigeons, which are a society unto themselves. They come in all kinds of fascinating colors and patterns, and they have distinctive personalities.

Cats are my favorite animal. They are cute and fun to watch and play around with. They are like small children and always learning and anytime they are in a new place they have to go check EVERYTHING out.

I never met an animal I didn't like. How could I possibly pick. Perhaps chickens. I once visited a farm that had a few chickens pecking about the yard. My 12-lb terrier decided they were great fun to chase. One chicken didn't take kindly to being herded by a strange dog. We spent a fun afternoon watching them both chase each other around the fenced in yard. They soon became friends playing a mischevious game of tag -- with my dog yelping and wagging its tail and the chicken sqawking and leaping in the air at my pup.
We were all sad when we had to leave behind I new found friend that day.

Of all the amazing animals in the world, I would definitely say that elephants are my favorite.
Elephants have an incredibly large range of emotions, expressing those from joy, to compassion, to grievance. Baby elephants splash happily around in the water, or hold on to their mothers with their trunks shyly. Two elephants will entwine their trunks affectionately, and celebrate when one returns to the group after leaving it for a while. They feel a sense of loss when a member dies, and will “bury” it but tossing earth over him/her. The will even stop to grieve at a place where one had died in the past.
Elephants are also extremely intelligent beings. They recognize their own reflections, and use objects as tools, such as foliage to scratch themselves or brush flies off of themselves. The are also very communicative animals, and have many ways of conveying their thoughts, using numerous sounds that lie below the frequency of human hearing range that can travel for miles through the earth. They also have incredible memories.
Besides the fact that elephants are environmentally helpful [they’re like vegetarians, and contribute to ecological balance as their treading spurs restoration in a rotation of clearance and revival], I love elephants because of their magical essence. Their compassion and intelligence make them a remarkably majestic creature.

Spiders are my favourite animals because they're just so amazing: they can climb walls, build webs and some can even fly using parachutes!
And some spiders have such fantastic markings and colours, have you even seen the cobalt blue spider? So pretty!
I wish everyone else could see the beauty of our four-legged friends and not squish them :o(

My favorite animal would have to be ducks. My reason for this is due to what has been happening by my school lately. Right behind my school is a lake filled with ducks and fish. Some of the student earlier in the school year thought it was fun to throw rocks and spit at the ducks, now that the season has turned they have moved on to snowballs. These poor ducks aren't that fast and a lot of the time get hit. I have tried talking to these people but there so thick headed they won't listen. I am continuing to try to help and am doing as much as I can. But for now the ducks just stick it out. These ducks are the lakes little wariors and I hope they can see through this mess.

My favorite animal is a rhinoceros. As a child, I got to go on a field trip to the Denver Zoo. I almost lost my group when we came to the rhinos. He was so sad. We just stared at each other. I started crying.
A few years ago, I took my nephew to the Denver Zoo. He is a sneaky little guy, and he ran off. When I finally spotted him he was with a rhinoceros, but I don't know if it was the rhino I met years before. He was reaching out a peanut butter sandwich through the smallest part of the fence, and there was the rhino stretching his neck over the pit to gently take it from his three-year-old fingers.
(Since then I have come to realize that why I get sad at zoos is because they are cruel. But that does not make it less beautiful when humans and animals can connect beyond stupid prisons and barriers.)

I absolutely adore ALL animals for so many reasons! Not just because they are cute of course, but they also have such great personnalities that nobody really seems to care about wich is a real shame.
I am a vegan, along with my twin sister :)
And i Honestly do believe that every living thing human and animal, even insects should be treated with respect and not be taken advantage of like most of them are today.
I have a bunny nammed Mocha, and she is just the nicest creature in the whole wide world wich is why i would like to talk about her...She is the softest, cuddlyest, friendlyest, cutest, most amazing, adorable, astonishing, dazzling, incredible, fantastic, humorous, gracefull, fat, capable, crazy, energetic, bright, helpfull, fabulous, knowledgeable, jolly, fascinating, mysterious, flawless, beautiful brown and white bunny ever
