Carey Hart has so many job descriptions that he's practically a one-man employment agency. He's a professional freestyle motocross rider, successful business owner, AMA team owner, and reality TV star, and now he can add one more line to his résumé: anti-fur model for PETA.
That's right! Hart's got heart. He's so passionate about the fur issue that he's starring in our latest "Ink, Not Mink" ad. OK, enough from me, now feast your eyes on this:

Phew, I know, he's definitely easy on the eyes. We've also got some fantastic interview footage in which Carey calls fur-wearers "petty" and "shallow" and also describes how ex-wife, Pink, got him involved in animal rights.
Check it out:

You didn't think that was all we had to offer, did you? Just for a little extra somethin', we're giving away a FOX jersey autographed by Carey himself. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling us what you think about people who wear fur. The contest ends on February 15, 2009, and we'll pick the lucky winner on February 16, 2009. I THINK PEOPLE WHO WEAR FUR LOOK SILLY AND HEARTESS. THEY LOOK LIKE SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO WEAR THEMSELVES SO THEY TAKE A FUR FROM SOME WONDERFUL ANIMAL. ALL THE WHILE THEY LOOK LIKE AND IDIOT BECAUSE YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THEY DON'T BELONG IN THE FUR THEIR IN!!

I think people who wear fur are those that believe ignorance is bliss. They walk around in these shells that were once beautiful animals, and they refuse to think about it, they don't look into the torture that took place to make that coat, because that would be too inconvenient for them to care. People who wear fur are cowards who walk around with shutters over their eyes.
Posted by: Stray | February 3, 2009 11:24 AM
People who wear fur are ridiculous and self-centered.
Posted by: Crystal Howell | February 3, 2009 11:25 AM
God created animals to grow fur to keep them warm. People would grow fur too if we needed it. To kill animals for their fur is not only sickening, but morally wrong too. When I see someone on the street wearing fur or carrying a leather handbag it makes me want to run across the street, shake them violently and say, "What is wrong with you?". I mean if you can't see God's creatures for their beauty it makes you an ugly person.....

People who wear fur, leather, and other animal products are looking for the "status" and "convenience" of the items they wear. Fur doesn't keep you any warmer than faux fur or other man-made materials. The excuse of hand-me-downs and something being a gift are also lame. You will put in the effort to find a pair of jeans that fit you just right, why not put some thought into where the products you buy come from?! The animals that are used for your fur coat are not eaten. When you think of Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Lambs" being creepy, it's the same at a fur farm.
I also believe that ink is better than mink and that microsuede is cooler and way more comfortable than leather! (Not to mention that leather also smells bad) Great campaign PETA! I hope that this one becomes as popular as "I'd rather go naked than wear fur!"
Posted by: Jen | February 3, 2009 01:14 PM
Does anyone remember that disturbing scene in Silence of the Lambs when the psychotic serial killer Buffalo Bill sews together skin from his victims into a suit? Well it is also disturbing to take other species skin to sew their hides into coats and such. Maybe if people thought of it that way they would get how gross and horrible it is to wear fur and leather.

I dont' quite get the 'ink not mink' msg.. no i) people who get tattos or are tattoed aren't really the type who typically adorn themselves with wearing animal skins and furs.. the issue here really are those maddeningly LOATHESOME fur hags.. it's really this lot or solely this lot who should be targetted.. they are the PRIME culprits.. time and time agian.. ie. buying real fur products.. people who wear ink are a tiny minute minority.. frankly I don't even think they even wear furs.. okay some maybe.. eg. the odd rap star.. the real fur hags.. are those loathesome selfish women.. who dont' care the suffering these animals endure in a wholelifetime just so that they can drape their ugly carcasses in these animals beautiful but now dead and once tortured furs.. these women are truly REVOLTING!!!
Posted by: beth | February 3, 2009 04:07 PM
But the word ink is in mink. So why would I want to associate myself with something that closely associates itself with mink? 0_o

Whenever I see a person walking around wearing a fur coat, it breaks my heart. I just think about the wonderful animals who were tortured & killed just so these shallow people can just drape themselves in their skins. Then there are so many useful alternatives to wear to keep us warm during this cold weather, that we can have our coats & let the animals keep theirs'.
Posted by: Mayrette | February 3, 2009 06:32 PM
In the beginning, humans had to wear fur to keep warm. They had no other choice. Now, however, there are many alternatives to fur, including faux fur, which looks and feels so real only a furrier can tell for sure (thank you Clarol who came up with a version of this line first). And, by the way, I have 5 tatoos myself: two rose tattoos, one of Psalm 104:24 in the bible (look it up, you'll love it) and my eyebrows are tattooed on, no more need for mascara which sometimes has animal products in it.

The issue of fur keeps me up at night, the affect of watching the fur videos on this site upset me so profoundly that my partner tried to ban me from going on this website... i think people who wear fur are the lowest of the low, i'm glad i live in an area where no one really wears fur because if i saw someone wearing fur i would lose it... the cruelty involved is so great that i find it hard to understand why this practice is not outlawed... fur wearers: selfish, ugly, conceited, cruel, brutal, malicious, callous, merciless, heartless, uncaring, despicable, revolting, offensive, nauseating, foul, vile, and ghastly subhuman creatures, who deserve the same fate as the beautiful animal that they dare to wear.
and i agree with laura's idea!! whats okay for animals to endure should be the same for humans, they aren't objects, they think, feel, and fear just as we do. PS i love pink and carey

I am so confused as to why fur garments are still being made. We; as a nation have a tremendous amount of technology and resources that the udder thought of wrapping dead animals around our bodies should only be for a history paper. The cruel intent of stripping animals of their outer bodies should make us all look around and question the very idea of progression.... we should be ashamed! Can change really happen?
Posted by: Sara Donovan | February 4, 2009 10:18 AM
I think people who wear fur are heartless. Fur is not even attractive. If you can wear fur then you are as bad as the people who took the life of the animal. You are a heartless, disgusting, uncaring person.
Posted by: Tracey Martin | February 4, 2009 02:07 PM
I think the main reason for people wearing real fur is true ignorance. They are under the influence of maybe a "cool" celebrity they admire or are trying to be fashionable, not realizing the animals' pain and suffering. They don't think for themselves and are, therefore, selfish and continue the vicious cycle when other ignorant people see this and the murder continues. Knowledge= Power. Go VEGAN!

Be both diligent and patient when educating others about fur; in our commitment to sparing the suffering of animals, lets not forget to show some respect toward our fellow humans when offering them the terrible truth about what they're wearing.
Trust that a truly kind person will change his ways in favor of compassion.
Diligence.
Patience.
Kindness.

I think that people who wear fur dont really know the truth on where it comes from I just recently yesterday watched the video on the chinese fur trade that my friend had posted in a bulletin i instantly cried and could not watch. it is very sick if they do know where the fur comes from they are very very heartless. My friend and i discussed the fact that it is murder it is like abortion its not like a baby or animal can tell you to please stop or no dont do that. they should just know that its wrong and that animals have feelings too after watching that video yesterday i woke up today and instantly when i was with my dog thought of all the animals that suffer and wish they all had a life like my dog and had a companinship like simba and i have. it hurts me a lot.

people in society are slaves. they will do whatever you tell them. the less the media portrays "fur" as glamorous, and forces down our throats the ideology behind being 'cool' people will listen. or if not, at least follow. so Spread the word... fur is NOT cool.

Nice tatts, Carey! Vive Las Vegas, indeed, baby! Thanks for speaking up for animals!
Posted by: lynda downie | February 5, 2009 12:19 AM
I think most people who wear fur aren't aware of the pain and suffering that goes into their so called "fashion". That's why I think getting people like Carey Hart and other celebrities to catch the public's attention and inform them is great. However, I cannot judge the people who do know how terrible it is to wear fur and still do it. It wouldn't be fair. Although I do think that it is wrong, I can't say if they are bad people or not. I fully support Peta, Carey Hart, and the fight against wearing fur.
Posted by: Jessicarose | February 5, 2009 12:18 PM
I think they should put a warning on the video, 'cause I watched it thinking that I was only gonna hear Carey talking but then they showed this terrible scenes of the minks and stuff and I definitively wasn't looking to see that. I'm very involve in the fur thing and I'm aware of what's going on but I've seen so much that I really don't need to see those cruel images anymore, they just break my heart.
Posted by: Luuli ~ | February 5, 2009 05:57 PM
I can't believe the fur industry would skin an animal alive!!!!! So sad !!!!!! Please, don't ware fur or leather!!!!! I will never get the images from the Carey Heart (PETA) video, out of my head!!!! Please, teach your chidren young, about the "FUR INDUSTRY"!!!!!! sincearly, Vicky. (live in peace leave the planets (our) animal's alone!!!! Love vicky:)

People who wear fur need to join us in the 21st century. I didn't even realize people still wore fur until I saw that it was a major PETA issue. I think that PETAs "Fur is for Animals" ads just about sums up how I feel about the people who wear it.

The irony of wearing fur is that people wear it to make themselves look good and all most people see is a cruel discusting death. There is nothing attractive about it.
Posted by: Vicky | February 5, 2009 06:35 PM
God Bless you Carey , I am making a promise to you right now that I swear I will start giving 100% preference on the products that have you name on it. :D
my kids love you too!
Posted by: gina | February 5, 2009 07:31 PM
I think people who wear fur have their eyes closed to reality. If they knew 1% of what animals went through so they could say "cool and cozy" they would give it up in an instant.
Posted by: Jonathan S | February 5, 2009 07:50 PM
When I see people wearing fur, they remind me of the commercials on TV with the neanderthals, except they are "glammed up".
Posted by: Tracy | February 5, 2009 08:26 PM
It makes me ill to see people wear fur. You would think with so much attention being focused on how wrong it is to wear fur-they would stop. But some people just don't get it. I'm happy to see Carey Hart involved. I love so many things about him and maybe his ad will call attention to a different demographic.

Just an FYI: Not all tattoo ink is vegan, esp. black which can be made with bone char. If you're veg and into tattoos, do your homework. Unless artists make their own ink, they may not know whether it's vegan-friendly or not.

Think as this: Humans can make fibers that cause no harm to us or animals. Also we can but on those fibers in the winter to stay warm. Now, poor animals have no choice but to wear their fur for survival! We don't live in the Ice Age . Ink no mink is the true way to go! Plus ink is with you 100% of the time. Unlike fur that will in time fall apart and be nasty.
Posted by: Megan Sandridge | February 5, 2009 09:00 PM
Has anyone seen an animal wear human skin to look "fashionable"? No one has and no one will ever do because humans are the only species that enjoys wearing cruelty and murder on their bodies just to look good and who are actually soul less enough to think that is actually cool and classy to wear real fur when sinthetic fur looks actually the same.. animals have the same needs humans do they eat, they breath, they sleep, and most important of all THEY HAVE FEELINGS TOO. Would you wear a human skin coat?
Posted by: Megan | February 5, 2009 09:52 PM
People who wear fur are apparently not comfortable in their own skin, so they have to steal from another living being to make themselves look and feel better! Hey, it doesn't work!! They still suck!!
Posted by: Katrina Norman | February 5, 2009 09:56 PM
I find it hard to believe, yet I know it's true, that some people chose to wear fur knowing about the abuse animals go through just so they have people option. I have to wonder if the decision to wear fur or decorate with fur, is simply ignorance to the reality of what went on in order for them to own their furs. A brief glance at that poor animal in Carey Hart's clip that was completely skinned and still alive and blinking it's eyes, is the quickest way to make an impact on a human being...and I think more people should see that clip...if only for a couple of seconds. Bless all of those in the fight for the animals rights.
Posted by: Jodi Serrago | February 5, 2009 10:49 PM
People who wear fur are ignorant. That's the bottom line. I personally think that when these people imagine where fur comes from, they still picture in their minds that old image of a Canadian trapper tramping through the forest checking his snares. The only cure for ignorance is knowledge. Once people no longer have the excuse of "I didn't know," then we shall see who truly deserves to be splattered with red paint. It takes a heartless individual to be able to wear mink after learning about anal electrocution.

I BELIEVE THAT HUMANS WHO BUY AND WEAR FUR ARE THE MOST UGLIEST, MORONIC AND THE MOST UNCOMPASSIONATE PEOPLE. HOW CAN ANYONE THAT KNOWS WHAT THAT POOR SUFFERING ANIMAL GOES THROUGH TO MAKE A COAT HAVE THE ADASITY TO EVEN WALK ON THIS EARTH? ALL OF YOU WHO BUYS FUR ARE SICK. JUST WATCHING THIS VIDEO HAS MADE ME SOOOO SICK TO MY STOMACH AND I CRIED MY EYES OUT TO KNOW WHAT THE POOR ANIMALS GO THROUGH. YOU SHOULD REALLY KNOW THAT ALL OF YOU FUR BUYERS LOOK SOO SOO UGLY AND YOU ARE ONE OF THE MOST CRUELEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. I HATE YOU
Posted by: roberta | February 5, 2009 11:43 PM
People who wear fur honestly are ignorant. Where and the hell do they think fur comes from.... Trees I don't think so. Every person who as ever worn fur knows exactly where it comes from. How could you not. People just simply feel "if it's out of sight it's out of mind" I think it is best said "
Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight." ~Albert Schweitzer Maybe if people would just open their GLAZED OVER EYES and realized all the hurt and pain and suffering they would rethink ever even considering wearing fur.
Posted by: Jordan | February 6, 2009 01:05 AM
I think education is key. It's hard to believe that people still don't realize the cruelty behind fur, but you can never underestimate that possibility. There are probably many who just simply don't care, but some may not know. The more you educate, the more the public will know, and the more pressure will be put on people who are wearing fur. PETA is doing a great job.

I hate fur and i think whe people wear fur they look like twats and they should think how they would feel if they were the animal!!!
Posted by: Chloe McGuigan | February 6, 2009 03:05 AM
people who wear fur think its socially acceptable they are not ignorant or stupid they are making a statement a way to attract attention to themselves they crave, the best way to treat them is to ignore them dont't look at them and then they will ask themselves why people are not noticing them!As far as the fur industry goes its all about money the lust of money
just as there are drug lords there are fur lords who are in
this money making business and
the ordinary workers in the fur trade are under their rule. As far as serial killers and phycho's animals are an easy target to carry out these dispicable acts.
Governments are blinded to the facts that these poor animals are treated in such a fashion, they allow it as they have hardened hearts and just see dollar bills. I hope these people who carry out these awful deeds will receive mercy on their death beds when their time is up that their Gods will allow them to die with dignity. The ONLY way to sort this problem out is to have a prayer chain across the world you will see the power that will destroy this evil once and for all!!!!
Lets not dwell on the who why and cry over this problem lets
all do something about it, we all should send suggestions to Peta to help them come up with solutions, the first and formost problem solver is a meeting with the busy president of USA, he has a lot of influence. God Bless you all!

I would say they are either heartless and self-centered OR ignorant, but ignorance is not an excuse anymore. Everyone knows that fur is controversial and everyone has the internet and the means to educate themselves. So, anyone who chooses not to educate themselves still falls into the self-centered category.

I think people who wear fur are either ignorant or cold hearted.
Posted by: Marilyn Wons | February 6, 2009 06:15 AM
What get sme is they all look ugly in that fur. animals are suppose to have fur not humans. hmmm doesn't make a fashion statement in my eyes idiots. Maybe they really think they look good. WRONG!
Posted by: Sue Geldof | February 6, 2009 06:21 AM
I have never worn fur and after viewing a fur farming video on the PETA site, I would never wear it and tell people who are wearing it what it means for the poor animals. What I saw on the tape was so cruel and dispicable, I could only watch for a few seconds before shutting it down and crying. It played in my head over and over for a few weeks, it disturbed me so much. Animals are all beautiful and innocent creatures and should always be treated as such. The fact that they have to die and suffer for us to be "fashionable" is unfathomable to me. I'll never wear fur as long as I live.

wearing fur is so cruel... its only for a person status with them trying to look 'posh tarts' the people that wear the fur are animals themselves an i think tey need a good check in reality an should see that what happens in the fur farms... especially in china and what they buy is helping a ruthless cause!!! I hope one day there will be change...

The other day I saw a woman in a Dallas mall with a fur handbag. I almost threw up! I couldn't believe my eyes. Previously when I would debate the issue with someone who I knew had fur coats, their ignorant response was "I need to stay warm too" but this was the epitome of vanity at the expense of another life.
Thank you everyone who supports PETA and works to educate and promote the welfare of those who have no voice. Keep up the good work, y'all. Together, we CAN make a difference!!

That thing with racoons, when people start flaying their fur AND skin off while their STILL ALIVE and stomp on them and just throw them when the skin's off, leaving the animal just with LITERALY BONES AND MEAT! No skin, no fur, just some little meat and bones under it... how would you feel? if your skin was ripped of of you and someone was jumping on your head while you feel so much pain just being in your blood and lying helpless on the floor? ya, no one asks them how they feel... just because they dont speak like us or dont have an IQ thats better than a 100, that doesnt meen they dont feel pain like us. it doesnt meen that their arent alive. it doesnt meen that they can be caring and that they can actually love. people suck. seriously, you good people, i'd say we dont do more than put these people in mental hospitals. when they die, god will punish them as he wants to. we need to help the helpless ones, not to behave as gods. R.I.P. all you beautiful animals and may PETA help you <3

I have justed wathced a video clip on www.stopanimalabuse.blogspot.com/ that broke my heart. I cannot believe that countries actually base their economic wealth on animal abuse. It is horrifying, please don't want the clip if you are very sensative to animal abuse. The clip focusses on the fur industry and how these animals are beating, kicked and stepped on in order to skin them ALIVE!!! I know it's a sin to wish something negative upon others, but I do wish these type of people the worst live they can ever imagine. I pray to God everyday asking him to grant people like ourselves the opportunity to combat this kind of mentally disturbed behaviour of other humans. My heart goes out to each and every animal who dies in laboratories, industries and homes who are not loved and protected like our own. Cheree Lombard SA

Animal abuse INFURIATES ME. The thought of it makes me crazy! People that abuse animals are NOT human beings to me. I can NOT believe how much the laws of animal abuse lack REAL punishment for the harm "human beings" put upon these Wonderful living creatures.
Posted by: David McCracken | February 6, 2009 12:38 PM
I think people who wear fur carry the anguish and suffering of the defenceless animal who was cruelly disrobed so that these people can robe themselves. If they hear closely, can’t they hear and feel the animal’s agony? Can't they see the blood on their fur coat?
Posted by: Amrita | February 6, 2009 01:12 PM
I think before anyone can buy a fur coat they should have to watch the suffering the animals go through to make that coat. If they still wore fur after that, everone would know what an unfeeling, self-centered jerk they truly were. If everyone saw the suffering first hand, people would be so outraged, that they would not let it continue. Thank you PETA for bringing the truth to the public.

I am appalled to find that fur has anything at all to do with fashion. When I see people walking around wearing fur I am disgusted with it, and any clothing designer that promotes the unnecessary and inhumane slaughter of countless animals of any kind, will never have a place in my closet. Anyone in this world that does not see anything wrong with the animal torture that exists to make these revoltingly gaudy outfits has no concept of worth, compassion or love in life. Furthermore, they absolutely have no soul.

It really bothers me that people will pay to wear fur. That animal has a brain and feels pain and just to satisfy those humans they think its great to wear fur. It should be outlawed in this country. You shouldn't be allowed to parade around in animal furs or leathers.
Posted by: Chuck Darrah | February 6, 2009 02:28 PM
I first want to start of by saying that I've sat lonely in my room trying to come up with the most reasonable explanation of why someone would wear the skin of a slaughtered animal.....and I thought long and hard.... But then I came to the conclusion that there is no explanantion. I can't believe that someone would be able to watch the videos of the animals being murdered without being emotionally touched. It is extremely disturbing, that I can't sit trough a whole video. I don't know what people who wear fur are trying to prove....Seriously you have a DEAD ANIMAL ON YOUR SHOULDERS!!! I mean come on that is disturbing in so many different ways. I hate Beyonce Knowles and THE HOUSE OF DEREON for selling fur coats... People like her contribute to this holocaust of innocent animals...... Just think what if someone killed you for your skin??
Posted by: Juan Trenado | February 6, 2009 02:42 PM
Vanity kills Animals! Isn't there enough cotton in the world to satisfy our needs?!! Come on people. If you knew what pain and violence it took to make that fur muff, you might think of someother method of keeping your hands warm. Try a hot potato in your pocket. :)
Posted by: Miranda Brooke | February 6, 2009 03:05 PM
Materialistic, shelfish people are those who wear fur. They care less if it was killed in a humane way or a cruel way. They see fur as gold and they don't care less if the animal was tortured or slaughtered before they wear it. Shallow heartless people is what they are They should only be reminded everyday that animals are like humans and they are the exact same people that the anglo were when they kill indians and removed their scalp as a trophy!
Posted by: Karla Sanchez | February 6, 2009 03:05 PM
People who wear fur are disgusting and tacky. First of all fur is only attractive on animals. Secondly, it looks savage and brutal to sport something made of fur. It's time to move on people. There are so many neat fabrics out there, why wear fur?
Posted by: Jessica Verdin | February 6, 2009 03:08 PM
People who choose to wear fur are very ignorant and unaware the effect this has on so many people. Animals suffering, and for what, fashion?! It's unacceptable and totally wrong. There are SO many other options besides wearing an animal who had to be killed just so you have the privilege of walking around with your head held high. News-flash: people who wear fur should be ashamed of themselves, and walk with their head held anything but high.

Why wear fur? There are lots and lots of synthetic products that are lighter, warmer and cause no suffering of helpless animals. We're all in this together on this planet and it is our responsibility to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

It's a good thing that more and more famous tattooed people get involved in the animal rights cause it helps giving us the massively tattooed people a better and more caring image!
What do I think about people who wear fur? I think that most of them are ignorant and simply dont know how animals are treated in the fur industry but a huge lot of fur wearer are just selfish and don't give a damn about the pain that is caused to non-human animals all that matters to them is how ''cool'' they look in fur (personally, Ich trage lieber Tattoo als Pelz (the translation of this would be something like: I prefer to wear tattoos than fur) to quote german peta ads at least with tattoos the only animal I hurt is myself)...

There is nothing elegant or sexy about fur. Would it be plausible for a supermodel to go out on the runway unshaven? No! And what kinda sense does it make to to prep yourself for a night out, rolling your outfit with sticky tape to remove dog/cat hair to slap on a fur coat?
Because of the fur trade, beautiful animals are now endangered or even extinct. People who wear fur SUCK!!!!!!

Nice tats Carey. I watched the chinese fur farm video the other day and can not get it out of my mind. I do not think I will ever look at animal products again. I have in the past lived a rather veggie life style but will now step up my efforts, eating no meat or buying anything that may have cruelty attached to it. I can't sleep now after that video. My heart and soul bleeds for those who can not defend themselves against such unspeakable atrocities. My hopes and dreams are that we can make this terror stop, if more people know maybe a huge difference can be made.Thank you PETA for being their(animals) voice.

People who wear fur ARE SHALLOW, uneducated, self-centered, and indifferent. They have no idea that wearing fur not only reveals this, but also reveals that they are politically incorrect and downright unstlyish. Look around even in expensive--especially-- in expensive stores; you'll see only one or two women in a fur even on the coldest days. FUR IS OUT OF STYLE. that's why it's selling for 605 to 805 off!

Living in a country that has no need for fur, I had no Idea how much of it was still worn till a recent rip to europe.Every second person is either in a full fur coat or jackets with fur trim.Even kids clothes! DISGUSTING. shop windows were full of clothing made of or featuring some kind of fur.Not once did I see a poster, sticker, a shirt, a button or an ad campaign against fur.Not once in 2 months in any country in europe. What is being done on a general public level to shock people into some sense? I gave as many filthy looks as I could and spoke as loudly as i could about the revolting practice of fur farming. If only all those european heiresses realised it only makes them look fat & not glamourous at all!

Demons kill animals and Demons wear fur and eat the dead bodies.
There is nothing fashionable about wearing a murdered animals skin. There is nothing delicious about eating a murdered animals tortured body.
FUR is DEAD.

When I see people wearing fur I feel sick to my stomach!
I think " the $$$ they spent for that 1 fur coat could have been donated to a charity instead so that millions of animals could be saved instead of murdered!"
why spend money to continue killing when the same amount of money could be spent for a better cause.... Keeping animals safe and ALIVE!
Don't forget that Only God will judge you when you enter the gates of heaven. Think about THAT and think about where your Money should go.

people who wear fur really ought to be sat down and told to watch the videos of where the fur they're wearing is actually gotten from. Fur looks ridiculous on people because it doesnt belong there. Fur belongs to animals and if nature intended us to have fur we would grow it...which we dont.

i think people who wear fur don't care about the animal that could be a nice pet or alive in their normal habitat. i think they worry about seeing how other people veiw them, they think they look so rich since fur is expensive, but really they look silly and self-conceded.i'm sure if they took 5 minutes out of their lives and thought about those animals and watched what is happening to them they would also second guess themelves and maybe even stop.

There are like 15 furs that we have in school, my teacher always says she wants to make a coat. I told her that it is sick and she needs to think of if people killed her to wear her. I got a detention for it. I would never wear an animal.

Fur is completely unnecisary and incredibly cruel. It is disgusting that people would justify the live skinning of innocent creatures simply so they can look good.
The wearing of fur is unacceptable and only goes to highlight human vanity at any cost.
How would we all feel if someone was to take off our skin and then wear it just to look good!
What's wrong with fake fur, looks just as good, half the price, and not nearly as cruel.
I could never understand why people would want to wear fur, it's like wearing a dead animal!
Animals farmed for their fur are brutalised, mistreated, starved and killed in the most horrific ways.
I would regard anyone who wears farmed fur as someone without a conscious who is only interested in their image.
I am truely against wearing animal fur, it's down right pointless!

I find fur coat wearers to be extremely ignorant people. Having visited downtown Chicago plenty of times, I have been around more of them than anyone should ever be around. I dont get these people. They go out and pay tons of money just so they can wear around a coat of murdered animals, and then walk around, acting like they are better than every one else. They might as well get some "ink" on their foreheads saying "Innocent animals we're murdered so i can pretend to be better than you".
Posted by: Marc Davis | February 10, 2009 05:51 AM
I think people who wear fur are not thinking deeply enough about exactly what it is they are wearing, and where it comes from. Any rational person has the capacity to feel compassion for animals and would (hopefully) say that they don't want an animal to be harmed just so they can wear the fur. Most people who eat meat will admit that the thought of where it comes from makes them feel horrible, but to continue to eat it is easier than changing. I believe that people who wear fur have the same feelings, and should investigate alternatives. Fake fur is so gorgeous, and soft and beautiful because it is cruelty free! It's all about education. Let's educate fur wearers!
Posted by: Christina Coley | February 10, 2009 12:51 PM
I dont understand how people can wear fur, knowing that it comes from an animal that has be killed to get it.
Its quite pathetic, and if you arent comfortable being yourself, then why do you have the right to take the skin from an animal?
Animals dont care for vanity...so work with what you have and dont take what dnt belong to you.
I actually have ink not mink tattooed on the top of my leg...i loved the slogan when i saw it in a previous peta ad featuring tommy lee.
I believe it, and its a good way to show my views on it.

Cary is right, as PETA members, we must go beyond winning cool contests and educate people on how cruel, petty, and disgusting fur really is. Start with the hip-hop community who value fur, use other celebrities as a beacon. Perhaps when people see the cruelty in fur, they'll see the cruelty in eating meat.

I would certainly never skin my son in order to keep warm, so I don't understand why people feel it is acceptable to skin animals in order to a. stay warm or b. look cheap (not rich). There are so many alternatives these days why we are willing to kill families of animals is unconscionable. I support PETA & hope everyone else will start the vegan lifestyle.

I think that people who dont edgucate themselves on where there consumer products come from and how they are obtained are absolutely pathetic. When I hear people say that "they would rather not know where it all comes from" it absolutly infuriates me. Im sure that the inocent, sweet spirited animals would "rather not" be tortured and "rather not" be born in captivity only to face a shore and painful death. It is so important that people understand the TRUE COST of there new fur coat, and the TRUE COST of there careless consumer products. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

I am so appalled that any human being could inflict such torture to an animal. They are a disgrace of the human kind. They should suffer the same treatment they inflict. I have hope and dreams that cruelty to all animals will stop. I hope to think that people wearing fur are only doing so by ignorance of the impications. Wearing fur is innaceptable!

People who wear fur are disgusting. Everytime I see fur I get this image of this video I saw when this poor animal (I don't even know what it was because it did not have its fur) still alive after being skinned alive. I literally feel sick to my stomach everytime I see fur. I almost always make a rude comment about someone smelling like a wet dog or roadkill and if they ask what I said, I will say it even louder and in their face. I am not afraid of them only cowards wear fur!

Fur wearer disgust me because i personally look at my animals and all animals in general as children. I dont know anyone who would want to skin and wear a child so what is the difference with an animal. Animals never harm anyone in anyway yet convicts still get treated better than most animals! I look at people who wear fur and flat out think they are ignorant, and heartless. The slogan "Wear Ink Not Mink" is the best possible thing! why spend that much money on a seasonable style when you could spend that money on tattoos (or better yet donating it to PETA) for something that would last forever or better yet make an impact on someone elses life and future!
Posted by: Brittany | February 10, 2009 02:20 PM
people who wear fur are obviously uneducated...i cannot imagine that anyone would wear fur if they knew were it came from...if they knew that the animal that they are wearing was bred only to be caged, tortured, and skinned so that they could be made into coats, shoes, handbags, etc...would someone really wear the coat if they knew this??? it would be a wonderful thing if every person who purchased a fur/leather product was forced to watch a video of the making of the product...starting with the birth of the animal or animals used in the manufacturing of the product...the video would show the animals life in the cage it lived in, the killing of the animal, the skinning of the animal, and so on...i wonder how many people would still wear fur/leather...

I think wearing fur is just a show! They want ppl to think they are rich and therefore a status. The poor animals that lost their fur also lost their lives for their fur. It's a shame :( All animals should be treated with respect and love. Shame on those fur wearing people.

I often wonder why people feel it is alright to abuse animals for the purpose of fashion. It is totally unacceptable to abuse these animals who are more often than not abused and mistreated in the days before they die. I recently watched a video posted on facebook of animals who's skin had been removed while these poor creatures were still very much alive! anyone who has ever suffered pain or loss would realize how distressing this is and again unnecessary. I do blame the media for its part in "glamorizing" fur products with celebrities showing of their latest "kill" surly no one in there right mind would want to watch models showing these products off. But i am always shocked at what people deem to be "acceptable" in the society we now live in.

when first the world was created, aminals ruled the earth. Then humans came along & took the aminals' land, lives, fur & meat. And till now many people think that it's ok & still commit those sordid acts... Lets turn the tables & imagine this scenario: What if humans were first on earth & animals came over & took our land, lives, meat & skin. What do u have thought of a wolf prancing around wearing human skin? Vicious creature??? well this is what humans have became, vicious creatures who have lost all kind of humanity.

Wearing fur is skanky. What puzzles me is the fact that people who choose to wear fur as a fashion and status statement are the ones who usually also have teacup pups and treat them like their own babies. I feel like saying to them, "your fur baby has FUR- you are wearing their cousin! How'd you like it if somebody skinned your furbaby?" Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Posted by: Dharma | February 10, 2009 03:33 PM
People who choose to wear fur are selfish, period. I'd bet money that there wouldn't be anyone who would wear a coat made of the skin of dead babies, but those animals on their back ARE SOMEBODY'S BABY! Fur is disgusting, tacky and certainly not fashionable. Everytime I see someone wearing fur the first thing I think is that person is incredibly selfish. Sacrificing poor animals lives for the sake of trying to look good. Sometimes it makes me ashamed to be part of the human race.
Posted by: Candace McFadden | February 10, 2009 04:16 PM
There is no excuse for wearing fur in today's world! We are aware of how they obtain the fur, so those who wear it must be heartless or just plain ignorant of the facts. Even animals likes cats and dogs are killed for their fur; this is ridiculous when we have many other materials to keep us warm. It's vanity, plain and simple. And it's disgusting. BTW, ink rules!!!
Posted by: Diann | February 10, 2009 04:49 PM
People who wear fur.. If you ever actually talk to people who wear fur usually their responce as to why they are wearing it, is because its warm. So this makes me wonder.. You cant kill an human to take his warm coat, so why can you kill an animal and take their coat. One day, i believe that people will begin to realise how important animals are in the world. And how many of us wouldnt be where we are today, if we didnt have animals in our lives. One day it will stop, and nothing will be killed for fashion..or " Warmth".
Posted by: Mandy | February 10, 2009 04:53 PM
As I see it people who wear fur are mostly concerned with the "outer" beauty of things. They only care about how nice a piece of clothing is going to look on. In reality wearing fur does not make anyone look better than people who don't wear fur. The only thing they are doing is wasting a large amount of cash on something isn't worth what is spent. People who wear fur probably don't even look beyond the looks. They don't take into consideration the pain that a living creature has to undergo. The piece of fur that in on their back went through a dreadful and horrifying process. A creature that is vulnerable was taken and killed. And for what?! Just to make another living creature feel good about themselves. The ignorance should stop. Fur wearing people should look up facts about what they're buying. If it comes down to the point that they don't care then all I have to say is that the person is completely heartless. It is nearly impossible for someone to have heart and not care about the pain that another creature went through. Humans are no better than animals, both have feelings and feel pain. People could simply go to a different boutique and buy something that can keep them warm and will probably look better on than fur, or shall I say dead animals. People shouldn't keep themselves so closed minded about these type of issued. We have a voice and can speak up but animals don't. They have no choice in situations like this. They will have to undergo the torture just to make humans "happier" and more "comfortable". Is that right in any way? Is that ethical?!

Animals have rights too. The right to roam this earth fully clothed and be able to get comfortable in their personal surroundings. People who wear fur should not steal from the castles of Polar bears and animals alike just to keep warm in the winter months. What about the animals who need to make a living. They need their coats to stay warm when they travel through the winter and cold days. Lets make sure they have their coats so that the animal families can live in peace.

It breaks my heart to see people wearing fur. I can't ever tell if they are ignorant, selfish, or maybe it's a combination of the two. Surly, at this point in time, people have to know the cruelty that goes on in the fur industry...so I know they are aware of what they are wearing on their body. I run a ferret rescue organization, and ferret's are closely related to the mink. I was very happy to see Corey Hart taking a stand against fur..:)

People wear fur because they really don't realize what they are doing. They are ignorant...and ignorance is bliss. That's why organizations like Peta (and people like me) are so important in the animal rights movement. People know that fur is from a dead animal, but they don't understand HOW it gets from the animal to their closet. Just like many meat eaters don't understand how their hamburger gets to their dinner plate from the factory farm. Heck, most people don't even know what a factory farm is, let alone a fur mill. It is not our job to judge people who wear fur, but to educate them in any way possible. Knowledge is power. Ignorance is bliss. And most people don't want to be called stupid.

As an avid animal rights activist the sight of people parading around in a dead animal's skin disgusts me. The celebrities who support the fur industry are either naive and stupid or flat out cruel and evil. Seeing an overweight celeb in a chinchilla coat makes me cringe. First they are probably overweight due to their horrible animal based diet. Second, do they know how many animals it takes to cover their fat asses. Leather and fur industries are ghastly and horrible. Please don't incorporate animal cruelty into your everyday life!

I don't understand why people waste their money on fur coats they look like they are trying to be an animal in. I think it is unsainitary too when people wear fur coats into restaurants and grocery stores. It is selfish and heartless to wear fur that once belonged on a living breathing creature. I wish some celebrities would put their time and energy into a good cause like the anti-fur campaign instead of only caring about themselves. Dont get me wrong alot of celebrities do, do alot of good things but people like Lindsay Lohan and The olsen twins set such a bad example. I always raise awareness and tell people not to wear fur. And encourage them to do the same!!

Posted by: Trisha Birkenberger | February 10, 2009 10:41 PM
Some people who wear fur don't know how it is made so therefore don't even think about it, just like some who eat meat. Those who do know, try not to care about it because it is easy to do that. It is easy not to think about something as long as you are comfortable, warm, or stylish. But this isn't acceptable for fur hags. It's will power. Not only is it money saving, but it is the caring way as a being on this planet.

people that wear fur are cruel heartless and disgusting even if these people dont want to think about it when they wear fur they are killing living beings that could have had a happy life if they hadnt been used as a coat
those people sicken me
Posted by: Morgan | February 12, 2009 05:26 PM
i think people who wear fur are sick, disgusting, and heartless who think it's right to kill poor animals for fashion... fashion wasn't made to kill! i don't understand why people do that, there's absolutely no point. what if the animals they've were the top species and they killed us for our skin... wouldn't be funny, now would it??
God created animals to be on this earth to live freely and thrive. not to die a horrible for someones coat or boot!!!
Posted by: Courntey | February 12, 2009 05:39 PM
Every time I see someone wearing fur, I hear the screams and cries for the poor animals that were cruelly butcherd to make that piece of vanity.

When I saw this I thought...wow a free autographed jersey. Honestly I wouldn't know what to do with it. I am just so impressed by PETA and all the famous people that help PETA fight.
I can't stand people who wear fur it makes no since. I love the sex and the city movie clip where samantha gets red paint splattered on her white fur coat..and she says I love New York...well I love anyone that has enough courage to do something like that. To stand out for what they believe and stay true to it.
And P.S>
I think ink not mink is better then mink not Pink..lol.

People who wear fur are very shallow...
Posted by: Peter Orlowski | February 12, 2009 09:52 PM
I honestly don't know what to think about people who wear fur and leather. The animals are treated so horrificly and to disregard that because some people think fur is fashionable is just insane. I don't know how people could support such an inhumane unnecessary industry so i honestly don't know what to think.

Posted by: mary | February 13, 2009 04:32 AM
how can you wear fur i mean think of those poor animals they havent done anything too us yet we torture them for everyday beauty :'(
animals dont have a voice so we need to speak up
Posted by: Aimee horrorscene :) | February 13, 2009 07:14 AM
I agree with what many have posted here - animals have no voices, and often have no way of defending themselves. If these fancy designers around the world stopped requiring fur for their designs, then the illegal poaching, and overkilling of these animals would stop and there would be no market for it. Most people choose to believe that animals have no feelings - but they feel things just as real as we do. They get scared, and the most definitely feel pain.
Posted by: Amanda | February 13, 2009 11:36 AM
I think people who wear fur are simply disgusting. They don't care enough to consider that their clothes were once living animals who do feel pain and had to be tortured in order to get their fur/skin.. It's just ridiculous that these poor creatures have to be annihilated in order for some people to try to look good..

Don't do something to another sentiment being that you would not wish upon yourself.
Compassion with boundaries really isn't compassion at all, but rather being selective of who deserves your love.
I've never and will never understand why people can be so cruel to those we view as weaker than us.
And why would wearing the flesh of a creature be considered beautiful? When you think about just how barbaric the whole process is, how can you justify that as beauty?
True beauty really comes from the soul of a person and their actions towards others, including animals.
Wearing the flesh of another being is a self proclaimed banner stating that you do not care about those less fortunate than yourself.

As a vegetarian, I'm given the opportunity to talk about animal issues often when I'm asked why I don't eat meat. I'm making a personal commitment to passing on the word about the cruelty of the fur industry. Thank you PETA for all your efforts on behalf of those who can't do it for themselves...the animals!

People who wear
are unaware.
They might not mean to be evil
or awful
or cruel
but if they knew the truth,
asked questions,
had emotions…
they would be
fur-free.

All I can say is I don't think people associate fur and the animal it came off. My pets are indoor spoiled bunnies, but people wear their beautiful fur too, but what would those same people say if they saw a cat or dog fur coat? They would have serious second thoughts on their choices.
Posted by: Melina Peltier | February 14, 2009 01:55 AM
I think people who wear fur are heartless. They care more about their material possessions than an animal's feelings.
Posted by: Buddy Garrett | February 14, 2009 06:10 AM
I've never met a person who wore a fur coat who wasn't conceited. It's like "Hey look at me... I can decide who lives or dies around here!"
Posted by: David Clark | February 14, 2009 09:23 AM
I think people who wear fur are not really thinking about where it came from or don't have much of a conscience.

The words unintelligent, cruel, and uninformed immediately come to mind-there are too many options out there and people that wear them look like cavemen or as if they are from the Dark Ages...Carey looks great in the new campaign-tell him to get back with Pink soon!

I think wearing fur is a status symbol for many people. I seldom see anyone wearing fur where I live, but I often see faux fur. Faux fur is cheaper and easier to take care of.
Posted by: Mary M. | February 14, 2009 03:01 PM
I think people wear fur because they think it looks good with the outfit and they dont realize what exactly went into getting the fur.People need more education and awareness. No more fur!!!!

I think people that wear fur just plain don't care. An innocent life was lost so they could drape their flesh and fur around them for attention, sad and sick.
Posted by: PegasusFeathers | February 15, 2009 04:12 AM
Hi well i personally think that people that wear fur are superficial cruel people who simply dont care at who's expense it is as long as they feel superior by wearing something that for centuries it has represented beauty fame ,power etc.somehow they see fur as a simbol of wealth is almost a transformation from comun people to elegant or as they see themselves "better"when in reality they are only trying to make up for what they lack as human beings for what they dont own on the inside they want to wear it on the outside. If you think about it comun every day people dont wear or own a fur mainly because they can,t afford to buy one not for humanly reasons fur is like any other animal product chiken for exam.the majority of the populitation in the WORLD eat it because they can afford it but not everyone has a fur coat only because they cant afford it period simply as that.does everyone cares about were it comes from yes and no yes because the creeps that wear them want the best soft fur and no because no one cares how it is obtain and made as long as it feels their shallow desires no one rreally cares for the animals whos skin is stolen from literally ripped from their flesh how barbaric and clearly one of the most absurd and cruel crimes against nature not to mention GOD PRECIOUS CREATURES .we are coming to a new era were change is possible with a president that 20 years ago would have not been voted for and who now is love and accepted by many yet we seem to still not rid the world of the abuse.the cruelty and one of the most horrific FASHION STATEMENTS EVER CREATED BY MAN.The pain and horror I seen in the eyes of the animals being skin alive only thru the lens of a camera has caused my heart to ache and my tears of despair for their pain will never be enough to stop this masacre only for the name of FASHION.good night everyone .SINCERELY,ROSE CORLETTO.33 YEAR OLD WOMAN FROM EL SALVADOR.VIVA A.L.F!!!!!!!

I think they are disgusting and revolting and need to be educated about how the animals were brutally tortured and murdered to make them that lousy fur coat they are wearing! It's almost too much to take!
Posted by: A Casson | February 15, 2009 04:58 AM
I think they don't make sense. If they want something that looks like fur wear fake fur, it's much more sensible and doesn't kill anything.

Posted by: David | February 15, 2009 11:26 AM
People who wear fur like Carey Hart said makes them shallow. They don't realize what it takes to get the fur off the animals and I honestly don't think they couldn't careless. They probably figure as long as they got the money for it then they should be allowed to wear it.
Posted by: Keri | February 15, 2009 12:20 PM
not crazy about people who wear fur, think it is not good
Posted by: shar | February 15, 2009 02:59 PM
Fur appears to be ugly, gruesome, road kill. I tell you people who wear fur do look like they are wearing road kill. In the 1940's fur wraps still had the flattened heads attached.

Posted by: Nora SP | February 15, 2009 09:01 PM
It's simple, people who wear furs have no respect for life, and life does not just consist of humans :)
Posted by: Denise | February 15, 2009 09:56 PM
fur wearers are vile. plain and simele no "i think theyre mean" no "theyre just in it for vanity". no. theyre vile human beings who should have their own skins taken away from them. i have 2 chinchillas and i could never be so fickle as to wear a coat made out of 400 little dead chinchilla bodies. especially knowing how they died. its barbaric and in some cases illegal. iranian cheetahs arent very well known animals but many of them are killed each year for their coats and they now face extinction. only a few hundred are left in the wild. keep it up pelters, push another animal into history.

Even if a prize was not at stake, I would be happy to leave a few words about fur. Fur started out as something that was worn many, many years ago for people to survive. That is not the case anymore and any country that tells you it is is simply using that as en excuse to kill and wear skins still. We live in a World now where fur is used for social standing and designer appeal. I am amazed at the celebrities who want to "use their celebrity status" to help promote this and that cause but yet they show up anywhere from a lunch date with their kid to walking the red carpet in the skin of an innocent animal. It's unimaginable what these animals suffer through to accomodate big egos. The only way to deal with the issue is to ban it worldwide. We can only hope.
Posted by: Melanie | February 20, 2009 09:52 PM
I can't believe that they make the poor animals suffer. I don't believe in wearing fur... I have many dogs... If someone was to skin tthem alive I would go Postal......

I am not a fan of fur, but I do, and always will wear leather. I ride motorcycles for transportation, not for sport, or hobby, or for a career. I need leather to take care of my body in case of an accident. No matter what people say, man-made protective gear will never be as good as God-made. It takes less than 1 cowhide to cover my skin, not the 10s or 20+ that it takes to make a fur coat. Since I wear leather, I am not going to judge those that wear fur. I also eat meat (beef, pork, chicken, fish) so am I no better than those that wear fur? We all have an opinion, and we all have a choice to make. But who are we to judge? But, before you start writing "hate posts" to me, stop and think. I am pretty sure that most of you eat meat, and some of you wear leather. Some, if not most of the women here wear products that are tested on animals. I'm not saying that it is right, animal testing is definatly not right. They are chemically tortured, they are alive when they are tortured. They feel the burn of the chemicals. Once again, I am not a proponent of animal testing, but we all (or most of us) use animals for food, and for clothes in one way or another. Most of us just happen to use less than 1 hide to make what we use. The last thing the world needs is more hypocrisy.

God did'n gave us fur, he gave it animals. So why should we wear fur, if it's against nature?

i think its awful to see these animals go thru the things that humans do to them.what makes it worse is that its for greed and fashion.i think of how i love my animals and could never imagine someone doing that to them.the thought of it much less seeing videos simply chills me to the bone and sends heart clutching tears to my eyes.

It is mostly sad. I love animals so much and I now how most fur is made. It is a sad, sick and twisted process. These animals are smart and have complex emotions. They are put through so much pain and suffering, just so one person can wear them. Any person who flaunts such a statement should be forced to see the pain in every single animal's eye before they are forced to lay down their lives for a passing fad. Wearing fur is like saying that you support the beating of small children because it is fashionable. WTF is that? Those f***ers are a waste of skin man, waste of skin. It makes me happy to see P!nk and Carey fighting for what is right.
Posted by: Bec H | August 2, 2009 09:10 PM
My input on people who wear fur. Well, I once saw this TERRIBLE video of dogs and cats getting skinned ALIVE. I cried and was tramatized. If those people are willing to do that to which ever "fur" they want from that animal, I think that's pretty sick in my opinion and very wrong. The rich mans wife thinks she needs the top of the line fur coat to make her feel important and satisfied, she's also a murderer to an innocent animal. Like the slogan says, "I'd rather be naked than wear fur" :)
