The Pretenders
The following is a guest post from peta2 blogger Patricia.

One of the animals' greatest friends (and one of my heroes), Chrissie Hynde wants you to be in a new Pretenders video.

Ever the activist, Chrissie has found a way to promote animal rights issues—specifically, what happens to animals who are killed for leather—and promote her new song at the same time. The Pretenders are looking for one lucky fan who also happens to also be an animal lover to appear in the official fan video for their new single, "Boots of Chinese Plastic."

To enter, all you have to do is make a YouTube video for the song and show them your "boots of plastic" while you sing your little heart out. Pretty easy, huh? Click here to get all of the details from the woman, the myth, the legend herself.

How cool is that? Being flown to L.A. to appear in a video, just for spreading the word about animals who are killed for fashion—which is something most of you are doing anyway, right? Not a bad deal. And it's not every day that you get the chance to be in a video with an icon. My only problem with this is that I can't enter. But I'm not bitter … honest. Good luck!

I have a question...do the shoes have to be plastic-looking, like Crocs or jellies? I actually just bought a super-cute pair of ankle boots in faux-leather. The label on the inside CLEARLY states "All man-made materials, Made in China." I thought of doing a vid with me showing the label then putting them on as I lipsync...just wondered if that was allowed.

And can I say, that these shoes, plus a pair of faux leather ballet flats I got from Walmart, are the most comfy and stylish shoes I've had and beat anything leather I ever owned by a MILE? I know there are some here who don't believe that we should even wear things that LOOK like skins, but I personally hope for a day when ALL leather and fur is FAUX leather and fur and there is never a question of who wore it before.

Chrissie Hynde is a very spiritual and talented animal rights activist, lyricist and vocalist. Her, Paul McCartney, Morrissey and Moby use their musical celebrity to speak out on behalf of animals. The Pretenders "Break Up The Concrete" CD is fantastic and I can't wait to see them live in Chicago on February 15, 2009.

I'm realizing I'm still ignorant in thinking that a cow is used for its meat AND coat? You mean leather is done like fur??? I'm sick. I'm not thrilled with either, but this information is awakening.

Chrissie Hynde is great. The Pretenders album with "Tattooed Love Boys" (I think the album was just called The Pretenders -1979) is one of the best rockin' albums, ever !
