While Rourke thanked his co-stars, his agent, and, yes, even Bruce Springsteen, the most memorable part of his speech was when he thanked his dogs and said, "Sometimes when a man's alone, that's all you've got is your dog. They've meant the world to me."
Well said, Mickey! I think we can all relate to that. It's about time for the furry, loyal companions who give so much love and adoration to their guardians to get recognized.
Another animal-friendly winner we love from last night was Alec Baldwin for his role in 30 Rock. Although he's been in roughly 5 trillion films and TV appearances that have all been brilliant, he'll always be our own special star for his fantastic narration of "Meet Your Meat."

mickey, please do something about the puppy mills. They are destroying and abusing our canine friends. They are the biggest contributors to the over population in shelters. Please Help!!!
and thanks for speaking up for the dogs, and giving them their due.

When I lived in Miami I often ventured to the Sunday night parties at the Raleigh hotel. One Sun. night at the Raleigh I sat at a table with a few celebrities, Mickey Rourke was one of them. Around 2am, Mickey Rourke stood up to leave and I saw an adorable, plump, white chihuahua nestled in his arms. This rugged bad boy oviously has heart and character! He's one cool cat to bring his pup out with him!
His acceptance speech was so genuine and touching! I have had a similar experience in that I got severely depressed, felt abandoned and alone. My chihuahua was the only thing that I felf connected to. I knew my chihuahua loved me, when I felt nobody else did! Amazing how these precious pups are like little angels, right?

its always great when celebs speak up and show their love for animals. Hopefully, the meat-heads will take notice and become compassinate in the treatment of animals. Well done, Mickey and all the best for the future.

Yeah! Mickey Rourke for remembering your dogs. When it's the bottom - the dogs make it the top!
