Is Michael Vick a Clinically Diagnosable Psychopath or a Reformed Dogfighter?

For the past 18 months, PETA has been meeting with Vick's management and legal teams behind the scenes about having Vick deliver a strong anti-dogfighting TV spot. If Vick is truly remorseful for what he's done, as he's said publically and privately, then a message from him telling people to stop these crimes could get through to dogfighters who relate to him. However, that's a big "if."
The only way to know for sure if Vick can change his ways is for him to submit himself for a brain scan and psychological test. Based on a number of factors—such as the fact that the right side of the hippocampus is larger than the left in 94 percent of captured psychopaths—these tests can help determine if Vick can ever truly understand that dog fighting is a sick, cruel business. Or, they could suggest that he's doomed to repeat mean, violent behavior in the future—whether with dogs or other human beings. And given that Vick plans to be around a lot of kids, to give talks to them, and to be a star in their eyes again, the world deserves to know who he is inside.
Vick's lawyers have run screaming, but unless and until he passes such a test, PETA will not participate in the production of a Michael Vick anti-dogfighting PSA. We hope that the NFL will require such a test as a precondition to even discussing the possibility of Vick's reinstatement. You can click here to add your name to a petition calling on the NFL to stick to its guns and maintain Vick's suspension until he's taken and passed a brain scan and psychological evaluation.

If the NFL even thinks about allowing the thug to play again, PETA needs to organize the largest protest in its history at the home of the team owner. Count me in on the protest. By the way, I am convinced the thug is brain damaged.

Come on. He IS a psychopath and a liar. That is not going to change. Ever. He enjoys it too much. How many pedophiles change? How many serial killers change?
He will do anything to get the big bucks again. I don't think PETA should be surprised if Vick does one of your PSAs and then turns around and starts abusing animals again. And he'll be playing football making more money than ever.
Do you not "get" that by pushing this point you are essentially fostering a new defense for violence? "Ooh. Can't help. It's my brain, you see."
Stop pandering to this maniac simply to prove a point.

he is disgusting and terrible for abusing animals like that!!!

the horrendous acts that Michael Vick committed willingly and consciously can only lead any educated being to believe he is mentally impaired . I believe he has committed an act that is one of the purest evils and for that he should be shun from the NFL and any other industry that would consider employing him . I think h should rot in eternal damnation

Michael Vick is a seriously disturbed individual. The fact that he is a public role model further validates that he should in fact undergo all necessary precautions before re-entering the NFL as a celebrated athlete. Vick & the NFL has absolutely nothing to lose if he is deemed reformed. Otherwise I believe the NFL as well as those this great sport influences will be subject to even greater consequences with any recidivism by Vick in the future.

As it has been proven people whom are abusive in any way with animals it doesn't end their. I agree the NHL needs to test anyone to work with them who is in the public eyes and may be around kids.

I cannot control my anger and total disgust with Vick and his killing of God's innocent creatures. It literally makes me ill. Scan his brain,if he has one. Personally, I believe he is maniacal and remains a danger to all.

To allow this vick person back in the leaguage is asking for it there has to be some harsh consequences for the henious crimes this culprit has commited. If this culprit is indeed a Psycopath it should be remembered that his picture of reality is very diffrent from normal peoples. Therefore he will very likely repeat his offences perhaps replace the animals with people victims instead. One could ask is it even safe to let him loose anywhere without Gps and a chaperone? He clearly needs to be looked after as he is not capabel of that him self being so seriously demented as he has shown through his maliousious treatment of those poor unfortunate dogs. If he can be rehabilitated he should have a second chance to redeem himself. However if he can´t he should be behind bars for the rest of his life to keep the rest of you safe.

what a shame this happened to these poor animals.. he needs to be tested
Posted by: jeff | January 21, 2009 02:19 PM
I have six wonderful dogs and they gave me a reason to live when I was depressed. Hurting dogs is like hurting me. If I have a choice, I would never let this psycopath ever on a football field. He should be put away in a solitary cell for the rest of his life and if he needs company, have O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson join him.

I appreciate what you want to do with Micheal Vick, I personally dislike him very much and agree he is sick however, That kind of testing wouldn't just stop with him or his kind. Doing these test could open up Pandoras box for all of us. There would be another freedom taken from us. What, we do something peculiar and someone wants to test us? No! That's the only reason I can't go along with this...Don't fuel the governments flame!!!!!!

I can't see why Vick's people would argue against this. . . I mean the guy is seriously lacking as far as a sympathy and empathy goes. He needs therapy and probably some meds. It would be better to solve his problems rather than pretend he doesn't have any. . . especially since he is in the public eye and access to loads of money. So - Get the guy some help so he never does it again - it the best thing for him, the kids who look up to him and the OF COURSE any animals he meets for the rest of his life ( and the animals those kids meet ).
Posted by: AJ | January 21, 2009 02:54 PM
He is the biggest ahole out there...he should NOT EVEN BE ALOOWED NEAR THE NFL..He has no remorse...he is just upset he got caught...
Posted by: HEIDI | January 21, 2009 03:00 PM
You know what's really sad? That these poor dogs that he killed, hung, broke their backs and treated inhumanely don't get a second chance (except for the few that were able to be saved). I think that it sends the wrong message to society that you can kill and torture animals and then a year later go back to the same life that you had before you got caught. When did society begin to think it's okay? Why does this guy get to even be reinstated to the NFL? I definitely wouldn't want him as a role model for my kids!
Posted by: mitchie310 | January 21, 2009 03:01 PM
How could anyone want to watch Mr. Vick play an NFL game while knowing he actually carried dogs to a noose and then dropped the dogs to hang? Or slammed that red pitbull against the floor and the wall until its neck and back were broken. The NFL needs to send a clear message and not waiver - permanently ban Mr. Vick from their organization.

I usually agree with alot of what peta says but this has gone too far. Obviously there are major problems with him, but there has to be a time when you step back and let it go! You cant change the past and what he did was HORRIBLE but gees I think this article is overboard. Just my opinion!
Posted by: k l | January 21, 2009 03:28 PM
doesn't matter what he is to me. What he did and participated in was reprehensible!!!
Posted by: noneya74 | January 21, 2009 03:29 PM
Why are we asking for him to be tested? I think it's a sad day that when he should be allowed back into the very same arena that helped fund his crimes. We're walking a fine line here and possibly stepping on some civil rights but maybe we should try to prevent him from making the type of money he did in the past in ANY industry? Just a thought...
Posted by: Jacquie | January 21, 2009 03:44 PM
The the sociopathic condition is technically untreatable. A sociopath would not want to be analysed as they can't abide people trying to 'understand' them, or pull the mask away to reveal what they really are. If he's refusing to be analysed, it won't help him convince anyone he's reformed. Looking at the evidence, so far, I don't imagine he will offer to take any tests. He definately shouldn't be given a platform to air his views any more than murderers are.
Posted by: lea killen | January 21, 2009 03:52 PM
Someone who does this to innocent animals NEEDS to be evaluated and then kept locked up.
Posted by: SJB | January 21, 2009 03:57 PM
This is just sick behavior. It is cruel and inhumane.
Posted by: Crystal | January 21, 2009 04:27 PM
He better not get to play again, it's not the dogs got a second chance. Seriously, what NFL team would be stupid enough to actually want him Vick on their team?
Posted by: Aneliese | January 21, 2009 05:15 PM
I'm a huge NFL fan. But, the NFL has to be crazy to even think of allowing Michael Vick to play for any of the teams. And the teams would have to be crazy to even entertain the thought of letting Michael Vick play for any of them again. Peta should do everything in their power to block the re-admission of Michael Vick in the NFL. They should picket every game and every stadium that he might potentially play. I will picket with PETA, I will stop buying NFL merchandise and stop going to games. I live in Las Vegas and it isn't cheap to follow my NFL team around the country. I won't spend a dime on anything NFL if Michael Vick is allowed to play in the NFL.
Posted by: Grace | January 21, 2009 05:19 PM
Submit to a psychological evaluation? Come on now, yes what he did do the dogs is obhorrent and should be punished accordingly, having him take a psychological evaluation is pretty out there. It is not the NFL's job to determine whether or not Michael Vick is remorseful for his crimes. It is important to remember, I AM IN NO WAY CONDONING VICK'S ACTIONS, however Vick was not suspended from the NFL for dogfighting. He was suspended because of his repeated altercations with the law in general. (Weed in hidden water bottle compartment occured before). After Michael Vick has served his time and requests reinstatement it is not the NFL's job to decide on the issue. If the individual team's want to sign him for their services or not based on his reputation that is where he may fall.
Posted by: Brian | January 21, 2009 05:30 PM
What a poor pathetic excuse for Vick. Not only did he do something very cruel BUT now a test could show that he is doomed to repeat such a horrible mistake? Gimme a break. Everyone wants a damn diagnosis. Everyone wants to have something wrong with them so they can cry "poor me" and be the victim. He is no victim. I don't feel any sympathy for him. I hope he NEVER gets back into the NFL. Not only should he NOT ever be a role model but he should be treated to the same scrutinity that a murderer would be subjected to. We all make mistakes BUT most of us don't make ones as large as that. I don't care if Vick is sorry. He is only sorry that he got caught. Who knows how long this would have continued had no one found out. What a loser. Too bad he didn't complete college. He has nothing good to fall back on. The only thing he's known for is football and killing dogs. And that ain't sayin much!
It's too bad that PETA still puts his name in the spot light. You constantly draw more attention to him by calling him out. I would rather not hear or see his name again. He would be less famous if people would just shut up about what he did. He doesn't deserve negative or positive attention. He deserves to lay in the bed he made. He's a punk. Only a weak minded person would think it is okay to hurt innocent animals.
Posted by: brandie | January 21, 2009 05:44 PM
Ok. This is going too far. What more do you people want from him? He's in prison as we speak, he's lost millions of dollars, what more does PETA want from him, the death penalty? My God, PETA the man has a right to make a living when he gets out of prison. Leave him alone!
Posted by: Vincent | January 21, 2009 06:05 PM
That is lame, why should the NFL run a brain scan to let him back into the league?!? What does that have to do with playing football. He doesn't have to do anything for you guys...he's an idiot for what he's done, but doesn't owe PETA anything
Posted by: deezy | January 21, 2009 06:13 PM
Good for you Peta! You stood up to this sleazeball and his sleazy lawyers who tried to use you to get Vick back in football
That is all Vick cares about (and his lawyers who also want that money!)
They are scum of the earth

Brain abnormalities that are indicative of a psychological disorder NEVER suggest that a person is "doomed to repeat mean, violent behavior in the future." This sort of testing can, however, help diagnose any problems that he does have, so that treatment can specialized towards the help that he needs. Even if the MRI reveals abnormalities, it does NOT mean that he cannot overcome them and feel remorse for his actions. It is NOT the world's business to know whether he has a psychological disorder and to treat him like a monster. What Michael Vick did was sick, and the NFL should take whatever legal precautions are necessary to ensure that their players are abiding by their codes. He may need psychological help, but I cannot support PETA's desire to tell him that he is doomed to a life of violence and apathy and to publicize this. That is not the purpose of psychological testing.

As a dog lover(and owner)I am SICKENED by this man.He should never ever play football again.
Posted by: Tasha | January 21, 2009 06:33 PM
The thought about trying to restrict him from earning the amount of money that he did in the NFL is beyond extreme. It's absolutley discpicable that anyone could want a fellow human being to be unsuccessful in life. He made a mistake, he went to prison to correct the problem, and will come out of this still fairly young with a bright future in front of him that you are wishing be destroyed? thats not right..
Posted by: Benny | January 21, 2009 06:40 PM
Please people do not compare dogfighting to murder of a humanbeing or being a pedophile.
Posted by: G | January 21, 2009 06:50 PM
Wow! using any dog or animal for his sick dogfighting is terrible
enough but Vick also used his family's dogs! This dude needs
to be seriously evaluated! Peta I am with you on protesting if Sick Vick is allowed to play in the NFL without this simple request of a physiological test.
Posted by: An NFL fan | January 21, 2009 07:04 PM
Let's remind the management and Mr. Goodall, how Vick lied in the beginning about his dog fighting which only proves that he knew it was wrong all along and that he is a liar.
He has no remorse, he is just sorry he got caught.
Posted by: Nadia | January 21, 2009 07:11 PM
There honestly aren't words for my feelings about this particular case, or dog fighting in general. And as I hug tight my own dogs, I would hope that I would die before I became a person capable of needlessly and intentionally putting them (or any animal) in harm's way.
Posted by: Michelle Washington | January 21, 2009 07:13 PM
That someone could add to the cruelty by throwing their family pets in the fighting ring shows how lacking in moral or ethical feelings this guy is. Treating animals who looked to him for love and care in such a cruel way shows this guy should never be allowed around another animal for the rest of his life. The NFL should not honor a person like him
by allowing him back into the league. The kids have too many bad role models as it is now.
Posted by: G.M. | January 21, 2009 07:17 PM
Isn't there anything that can be done to make sure he's not even considered for returning to the NFL?? I think it's horrendous that they would even contimplate letting him back in!
Posted by: Lauren | January 21, 2009 07:58 PM
The man is paying his debt to society. He may have made poor choices in the past and he will always be stigmatized by what he has done. You all should have agreed to support his return to the NFL. Why not? I would be proud for my kid to look up to him again. A man that can face his fears, enter prison, and successfully comnplete his prison sentance is worthy of some level of admoration. Let it go, please.
Posted by: chad r | January 21, 2009 08:33 PM
I want to commend Ingrid and PETA for the decision regarding Michael Vick. I do not think that he is sorry, rather sorry he got caught. He really does need psychiatric treatment.
Posted by: Heather Selph | January 21, 2009 08:41 PM
I hate people that hurt animals especially dogs. I also disagree with organizations that think they have a right to the opinions of the NFL. I do love your ads with the naked chicks wearing fur. Alicia Silverstone looked real good. You need to have some more of those. Michael Vick should be thrown out of the NFL in my opinion but it's not my opinion that counts.
Posted by: Daniel Joseph Spano | January 21, 2009 08:45 PM
Ok, this is asking for a bit much. He DID serve jail time after all. It's not like he doesn't have enough hoops to jump through with the NFL. First, they have to say he CAN play and then a team has to sign him. The whole "insane" thing is a little over the top. He wouldn't do it again because it has already screwed up his life quite a bit. He should have just done the PSA without asking for anything in return. But saying he needs a brain scan? Come on
Posted by: Clay Blondin | January 21, 2009 08:50 PM
Enough already, The man has paid his debt. What ever happened to forgiveness, God says to forgive.Thats what's wrong with this nation today.I know what he did was wrong, but let it go,give it to God.

Psychosis can respond to treatment if you take your medicine. Who could make sure of that? Only God. I believe that psychotic adults, must be monitored carefully. Someone very close to me is this way and there's no guarantees. To sustain the med. regimen takes professionals and twice daily checking in on them.
Also, studies have shown that people who abuse animals end up with the capability of hurting people too.Why give Vick any room to waffle?
Posted by: Barbara | January 21, 2009 10:19 PM
You all have to realize that Vick didnt see these dogs as animals he saw them as a form of entertainment. He had no connection with them as most people do with their dogs he saw them as fighters not dogs. Yes I agree he was very wrong for doing what he did but do you really want to give him an excuse for what he did by giving him a brain scan. At best the scan would show that his brain has similarities to other violent criminals, but that in itself does not prove anything it is purely conjecture at this point in time.
I am a football fan, Vick is a gifted athlete but I dont want to seem him succeed in the sport ever again.
You all have to remember that he would have probably fought dogs anyway even if he wasn't a highly paid football player. It just so happened that he was a gifted athlete and the money allowed him to fight the dogs on a larger scale. Money doesn't change you it just makes you a bigger form of what you already are.

Please just give him the chair (can't they make this ONE exception?) Even that is more humane than what he dished out to those innocent creatures.

He disgusts me! He needs to be attacked by dogs to get him straighten up!
Posted by: Alvi | January 21, 2009 10:58 PM
When is Peta going to start asking about his drug use and the NFL rules on that - I cannot belive that there was no drugs anywhere in the situation or the parties involved or on the property.
Drug use or abuse will keep anyone out of sports - but Please get it made a condition of his parole that he cannot own a companion animal or live in a house with one and that he cannot profit from this crime or be associated in anyway with aniamls or humane soceities of any kind.
Talk to the parole board !!!!!

Somebody who has done horrible things, and faced consequences, is deserving of a second chance.
Vick, who should be closely monitored upon release, is NOWHERE near our gravest animal rights concern. Corporate Capitalism that allows the exploitation of both human and non-human animals for profit is the enemy. Stay focused.
Keep in mind, Barack Obama eats animal flesh, and therefor has contributed to the murder of innocent animals as well, many of whom were kept and killed in the most cruel and inhumane of ways. Just because he is technically paying somebody else to do the dirty work, does that really matter? Should we be protesting him? How about every democrat who enjoys hunting? Where were you when John Kerry was out killing birds for votes? Voting Nader? I doubt it.
Now is the time to show some of that compassion we all claim to have for all living animals. Including humans. And all humans are capable of change.
Should Vick own a dog again? Not even close, and close to never.
Should he give a portion of his salary to a respectable animal rights organization? I sure think so--and wish this was part of his mandatory consequences.
Does he have a right to work? Yes.
Go ahead and disagree, but please stay focused on the greater institutionalized oppression we face. I completely respect the anger a lot of you feel towards him. Please transfer that to the economic system that creates the conditions for human and animal oppression.
Keeping Vick out of the NFL does not solve the constant human and non-human animal slaughter happening around the world.
Peace and Love to all.
Posted by: D.B. | January 22, 2009 12:43 AM
That kind of assessment should be determined by mental health professionals, not an advocacy group. I understand PETA's passion for abused animals but it seems Mr. Vick has become the poster child for the animal rights cause. He was rightfully convicted and sentenced for his crimes. When he gets out of prison he deserves to get on with his life. Furthermore, what legal precedent are we setting with this type of evaluation?
Posted by: F. Raymond Jr. | January 22, 2009 01:09 AM
He not only has to be tested ,but also kept locked up for good.
Posted by: Vicky Protopapa | January 22, 2009 01:33 AM
That is so disgusting and cruel! Who would do something like that!? Isn't it illegal?? I hope PETA helps convince people otherwise.
Posted by: ruby | January 22, 2009 04:37 AM
I believe that anyone who crosses into the arena of vile and reprehensible behaviour, such as this, does not deserve any further consideration for his benefit. He has doomed himself by his own hand.
I also don't believe in looking to "public" figures as "role models", that just shows a lack of an individual's self-image and/or psyche, a sad little blighter. "Treatment" is in order, not random selection of a "role-model", as what kind of choice is going to be made with a "damaged" psyche? Pick someone like Vick? Sad, sad little waif.
I believe in a second chance for minor snafus, not violent and damaging psychotic behaviour toward people or other creatures.
In this case: NO test; NO reinstatement; NO reconsideration; NO excuse for his crimes; NO future NFL paycheck; NO, NO, NO, NOTHING for Vick, period!

I agee with all these comments - what to do ...can something positive come from all this ... he has been branded for what he has done and no one will ever let him forget this .. can he change and maybe do something good to some how attone for his crimes... I hope so ... me for one believe that people can change .. and getting the message out there does make a difference, he should be allowed to do his job...and hopefully he does something positive

he should NEVER be allowed to play any type of sports again! he is a disgrace to the human race and I also place his lawyers, managers and anyone involved with him in the same catagory. If the NFL allows him back they are no better than he is. Have all of them clean up after animals..thanks

I dont think its right for any of us to judge a person's character. It's god's job not ours. I think that if he wants to apologize let him, because we all are human and we make misstakes and we should all be allowed to get a second chance its only fair and its only right.
Posted by: Dante | January 22, 2009 07:35 AM
I have two beautiful pit bulls that I love dearly. Having said that, I think we all need to rethink this stance. In this country we all are innocent until proven guilty and once we pay the debt to society that the law prescribes us, we have a right to resume our lives. Lawfully, hopefully, or we end up back in jail. That is the choice for Michael Vick. His participation in this is minimal still compared to all of his cohorts and they suffered nothing compared to him. If he has not learned a lesson and paid a dear price for his crimes, then no one ever has in this country and there is no hope of rehabilitation. We all preach about the rehabilitation of dogs and how they can be transformed from fighting dogs into family pets. How can we not extend the same hand to a human? I believe that he should be allowed to play and to rehabilitate his life as an example. There are many more athletes that have commited just as heinous crimes against humans that are allowed back to resume careers. Give him a chance, if he still is the demon everyone thinks he is and he hasn't learned or changed, he'll hang himself soon enough...on his own leash.

Posted by: jeff riser | January 22, 2009 10:28 AM
If Micheal Vick is truly sorry for what he took part in then he should be allowed to sign on with the NFL again and continue his career. He alone did not create this culture of dog-fighting, it has been going on for many years , I am not advocating this illegal and heinous activity but you, the PETA people should focus your energies on the whole picture than fight just one person. In the Vick case, clearly there were others involved but he took the fall because of his status.

What do you want, to kill the guy?
Posted by: Pat | January 22, 2009 11:27 AM
This is to Elleng: Michael Vick obviously didn't need the money-he was in the NFL, making billions per year. I know a lot of people that could be homeless and still never do this to any living creature that God created. Someone who can drown and torture innocent animals obviously has something wrong with them!!!!!!
Posted by: Rachel | January 22, 2009 11:39 AM
This comment is for BENNY: Cruelty to animals IS comparable to murderers of human beings. Scientific research has shown that people who start off torturing and killing animals and setting fires often become serial killers. When researchers have looked into serial killers pasts they have often found this type of behavior in so many cases. Most pyschopaths start off with animals before moving onto human beings. This is not my opinion, this has been proven by scientific research!!!!!!!
Posted by: Rachel | January 22, 2009 11:47 AM
oh come on - let it go. he did his time. what he did was horrible and he served time in jail for it. i'm sure he will never do it again. i hope he has a successful career in the NFL and uses his resources to help kids. i wish him well.

Whether he has the test or not, I cannot believe the NFL would even considered hiring him back. What kind of message is that sending. Don't give this man an a job where he earns enough money he can do this all over again. Let him be a has been and have some demeaning job rather than fame and riches again. To me the NFL is just as bad as Vicks if they hire him again.

What Vick did was unuforgiveable but he was found guilty and has spent more time in jail than anyone in Atlanta ever thought would happen.
I believe that people can change. I used to eat animals several times a day, I used to think vivisection was necessary and valid science. I CHANGED - and only time and my reformed actions prove it. I want to believe that Vick has changed too. That said I would NEVER let him near any of my dogs under any circumstances, no matter what a brain scan showed.
However our society says that once the criminal has done the time for his crime he is entitled to rejoin society.
Perhaps if given the chance to play pro-ball again Vick would be ever vigilant not to fall from grace again by even remotely associating with dog fighters. Perhaps his ego and greed will over rule his blood lust - because few people on this earth have bigger egos than Michael Vick!
Another thought - if he is prevented from playing ball again, then why wouldn't he try making the big bucks he saw and made fighting dogs?
One parting thought: Our society is filled with people who perform similarly sadistic acts of abuse on animals each and every day - the factory farmers, the slaughterhouse workers, the vivisectors, the furriers...and no matter how vegan we are, our tax dollars support some of all of this. I wish everyone would get as upset at the abuse of other animals.

If the NFL hires Vick back and actually pays him money shame on them, the TV stations that show the games, the sponsors and everyone involved. Vick is just a callous human being that probably tortured animals as a kid.

He is a disgrace. He was a role model. He blew it. He lied. And worst of all, he injured and murdered innocent dogs.
It will never be the same for him. It is like a Scarlet Letter.
Posted by: Lisa | January 22, 2009 01:41 PM
I believe that there has to be something wrong with his brain. No sane person as able to cause or watch the suffering of any living thing.
Posted by: josette | January 22, 2009 01:44 PM
I believe the History Channel did a story on the brain and found that about one in one hundred people are psychopaths. That means Vick's odds are pretty good. But this will come down to the NFL having to decide between money and reputation. If they really believe in turning a new leaf, they will not allow him back (but that's debatable - look at Pacman Jones). The commissioner, teams and owners will need to take a long, hard look and decide whether they actually want character players or revenue. Besides, there are plenty of great college quarterbacks due out in the draft the next couple of years and I'm hoping Vick gets squeezed out.
Posted by: Dawn | January 22, 2009 01:47 PM
Frankly it doesn't matter if his brain is defective or not - it's his actions that count - Many of us have defective brains but are still properly socialized!!! Don't waste time with this "test his brain campaign" instead PETA should focus on a campaign banning him from the NFL for good!!!!!!
Posted by: verovero | January 22, 2009 01:48 PM
This man should never be allowed to play football again, be allowed to do product endorsements or any other jobs that involve being in the lime-light. Any such work for him not only says that what he did is forgivable but, also sends a message that this man is a role model and that you can treat living beings with utter contempt yet still be worshipped instead of being the social parriah that he should be.
Posted by: Holly | January 22, 2009 01:48 PM
He should be dead
Posted by: Chris | January 22, 2009 01:49 PM
PETA, Please don't even think of using Michael Vic on a PSA or I will drop my membership. Where are your ethics...It won't be heartfelt from him, it will be PR.I don't want to see his face on PETA's PSA's or on the football field. I also will ban the NFL,if they re instate him. He does not deserve the respect, fame or wealth that comes with the NFL, what kind of a role model do you think he is. And for all of you who said he served his time, let him play.. Why because some court deemed 2 years enough time it makes it all okay? Where are your morals and values. This was not an accident or a one time mistake that he made. It was a conscious decision that he chose over and over again. And he would most likely still be doing if he hadn't got caught. And really who cares about a brain scan, he knows right from wrong. Spend your resources on keeping him out of the NFL, so we don't have to see his face.

Michael Vick is a very sick man. He should not be allowed to return to the N.F.L. However, if you allow this you should consider every avenue to keep all invovled safe.

Mr. Vick (and I use the term loosely ) should be treated as an ordinary person. He should rot in jail!
Posted by: John W. Rumery jr. | January 22, 2009 02:00 PM
Why is this guy even being allowed out of prison? The only way I'd let him play again is if he gives 1/2 his earnings to animal welfare causes!
Posted by: Christine | January 22, 2009 02:00 PM
I'll strongly second that notion
Posted by: Suzy | January 22, 2009 02:04 PM
I guess the NFL is looking for a medical excuse so Vick can be pardoned & play? Money is all that matters to the NFL that's why the regular person can't afford a seat in the stadium....

I think that vick should be banned from playing any professional sports for life. After all, he took away these animals for life. He is a disgusting example of a sports figure and absolutely no example for you people to look up to. He makes me sick just to look at his photo and I do not want to ever see him playing on the field again.

Posted by: Susan | January 22, 2009 02:08 PM
The person who said "Don't compare him with his dogfighting to murder of a human being or being a pedophile." What? We are not comparing him with these acts...we are saying that, based on the professionals who have more knowledge of this kind of behavior, these kinds of people do not have a conscious. Let's face it, how many of you that have written on here would do or be a part of this kind of behavior for money or not? And why not? Because we have a conscious and we feel. Anyone who could be this hard inside to pain and suffering of innocent creatures for the pure act of "watching violence" (it couldn't be the money, he was in the NFL for crying out loud) has some severe emotional and psycological problems. No one in their right mind would hurt to be hurting otherwise. I hope he never comes back. He probably will, however, continue this cruel behavior regardless of being in the NFL or not somewhere in some remote area. Evil hides in the dark all too well until it is exposed.
Posted by: Paula | January 22, 2009 02:09 PM
For those of you who feel that Vick has paid his dues, I seriously question your affinity for animals and their welfare.
Sorry to use such terminology, but the guy is a scumbag. A cruel, remorseless waste of space who has to torture innocent animals to feel like a man.
If the NFL takes this creep back, to hell with this organization.
And Phyllis, I for one do get upset about the abuse of all animals. But this guy was supposed to be a role model, had money, had advantages and he made the choice to torture the innocent for his own monetary gain. Sorry to be so long winded, but if this unrepentent (he is a liar) idiot were to disappear off the face of the earth tomorrow, I for one, would cheer. And if he got a taste of his own medicine beforehand, I would cheer even louder. So screw all of you who think this guy deserves a break.

Vick is nothing but a punk- no class- I agree if they EVER let this ANIMAL play in the NFL - count me in for a demonstration at the team owners house and field - ENOUGH is ENOUGH!
Posted by: Linda | January 22, 2009 02:11 PM
Michael Vick is a DISGUSTING man for what he did to those poor dogs. I love football but I will boycott the entire NFL is they allow him back. Not only does he deserve mental testing, he deserves to rott in jail for the rest of his life....animal cruelty punishments are NOT harsh enough!!!
Posted by: Kerri | January 22, 2009 02:12 PM
I don't understand why sports figures are allowed back into sports after committing a crime especially a violent one. There is supposed to be a code of ethics among sportsmen and they are role models for young people. Like Mike Tyson - he goes to jail for rape and when he gets out he makes a ton of money on a return fight. I don't get it.

This clown is a disgrace to the sport. Pathetic.
Not only should he not have a career in professional sports, he should be locked up and the key should be thrown away.
Maybe HE should be put in a ring with pitbull.
Posted by: Lisa Martin | January 22, 2009 02:15 PM
this pathetic excuse for a mna should NOT be allowed to remain on the NFL. he is a disgrace to humankind. for him to outwordly deny that he ever harmed any animal only then to be proven a liar just goes to show the world exactly what kind of beast he really is. we (the people) and you (the NFL) must set him as the example. he must not be permitted back on his or any team. he is a murderer and must be made to pay for his crimes.

HE IS A CRIMINAL AND HIGHLY DANGEROUS FOR OUR PRECIOUS ANIMALS! SOME PEOPLE HERE ARE RIGHT SAYING FOR NOT COMPARE "ANIMALS" WITH "HUMANS" - BECAUSE ANIMALS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN SO-CALLED "HUMANS" - THIS IDIOT OF VICK MUST GO BACK TO JAIL AND STAY THERE AT LEAST TILL HE DIES. Posted by: Kim N | January 22, 2009 02:21 PM
Anyone who would fight a dog, does not deserve to be a part such a highly visible rank. He should, in my opinion, be subjected to a brain scan, but only to remain a free citizen. He should not be allowed to play ball ever again.
Posted by: comora | January 22, 2009 02:24 PM
Michael Vick is sick! Anyone who gets off from the pain, torment, and manipulation of others is a sadistic evil person that should not be in a position that requires a certain degree of social responsibility.
I think Michael Vick should be subject to psychotherapy a brain scan and other psychological tests (Clockwork Orange-style). Then he should have to apologize through PSA and become an advocate to stop animal cruelty. If he can't do that whole-heartedly then he truly is not sorry and is not seeking redemption.
There are many children and teenagers that look up to him and others like him as role models. What kind of role model engadges in such behavior?
Michael Vick must realize that this is America, not China or Mexico, and that animals have rights just like he does.
Posted by: David | January 22, 2009 02:25 PM
I feel he is a total disgrace and a very poor role model. I don't feel he should be permitted to play professional football! Any kind of cruelty is totally unacceptable especially to innocent animals. Jail is what Vick needs.

I can't believe reinstating Michael Vick is even on the discussion table. Further, I cannot believe that PETA isn't already strenuously protesting the NFL considering letting him back in. Come on, PETA!! I don't want to see his face on a PSA or anywhere else. I don't think PETA should use him at all. What good is it going to accomplish? PETA should not associate with Michael Vick unless it's fighting tooth and nail to keep him out of the NFL and away from dogs forever!!!! I am surprised at this!

With the emergence of Matt Ryan, the Atlanta Falcons no longer need Michael Vick anyway; if any other team tries to sign Vick after he gets out of jail, NFL fans should protest outside that team's stadium.
Posted by: Fletch | January 22, 2009 02:33 PM
Why would the NFL even want to let a murderer back into their league?
Does poor little old Michael Vick not have enough fame and fortune already?
Personally I think he should be tortured and slautered in return.
Posted by: Jennifer Singer | January 22, 2009 02:33 PM
As much as I DO NOT want this guy playing in the NFL, he should not be tested for any mental problems. The NFL should not let him back in due to his ACTIONS not his BRAIN CHEMICALS. That is just wrong. If we decided to start giving MRIs to every person that wanted to play ball... I'd be so disgusted. I'm disgusted at the mere suggestion of this. My god. This could lead to so many problems for people.
TLDR; He should be banned from the NFL for his actions, not for chemical imbalances that he can't help having.

For those of you that say "let it go" or "he's paid his debt to society",we need to forgive. I am a Christian and I do forgive him but this is not about that. This is about making sure Michael Vick does not do this these animals again!! He did not make a one time mistake, his deliberate abuse to animals was going on for years. He did things so cruel to these poor innocent dogs and and he did them for years. Don't tell me he's remorseful because if he was he would at some point, stopped. He only stopped because he got caught. Do you really believe if given the opportunity he wouldn't do it again? I could care less if he plays for the NFL again but someone needs to make sure he is monitored so that he does not do this again. So he does not hurt these poor animals again. My heart breaks to think of him throwing a dog so hard on the ground that he breaks its back. Someone should do that to him. I have pits and they are the most loving, loyal dogs in the world, I can't even imagine seeing anyone commit these acts. But the truth is, Michael Vick didn't do it alone, he had many others with him. His friends, his associates, his so-called business partners should be watched as well.
Posted by: Angela | January 22, 2009 02:37 PM
Brain scan BS how about a Labotomy. It is to bad that these people aren't put into a pit like the old Gladiators. Maybe they would then realize how their sport came into being and why it needs to stop. Unfortunately for Vick he is past that point.
Posted by: Doug Bailey | January 22, 2009 02:37 PM
Micheal Vick is a scumbag and I hope that PETA and any other animal organization stays far far away from him. Forget about rehabilitating him. He doesn't deserve it. He is not remorseful. All he cares about is returning to football to make money. He deserves as much forgiveness as he gave the dogs that he brutally tortured and murdered. Vick is garbage. he is scum. Don't bring garbage into the PETA house.

He has did it for so long and the other men who helped him didn't say anything because they were probably getting go money, ect. He has made me cry, my mom, and others that I know. I believe there is a special place in Hell for people who do things like this to animals. I cry when I hear about what that monster did to all those animlas, for years, and it disgusts me to hear people defend him by saying, "It's not that big of a deal." Well, those people haven't had to take care and nurse the dogs that are a product of this sick NON sport. I have. It's heartbreaking. I can't beleive the NFL would allow him back in. They should all have to watch videos on the horros these dogs go through and see for themselves the things Vick did. He's a monster and should not ever be allowed to be in the public view again. He is not a role model. He is just secretly saying, "Look what I got away with!"

I for one hope the man never gets his job back in the world of sports. He's not someone to be admired or looked up to. He did heinous things to these poor dogs - where was his compassion or kindness to them? Nothing in the world would ever convince me that this man has turned over a new leaf or achieved any amount of compassion. He just misses his big paychecks and admiring fans. I hope the youth of today learns to discern who deserves admiration and who deserves contempt. In my mind, Mr. Vick deserves nothing but contempt.

Michael Vick has serious psychiatric problems. He committed unspeakable crimes, torturing and killing man's best friends. I am certain that he would not hesitate to do the same to human beings should the opportunity arise.
Posted by: Csilla Korossy | January 22, 2009 02:49 PM
Anybody that feels pleasure from watching innocent animals getting hurt should be tested for brain disorders. There is defenitely something wrong with this man and the NFL should take action. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow he might have a children fighting ring. And then what?
Posted by: Rosie Tipton | January 22, 2009 02:50 PM
He IS a disgrace: as a role model, as a professional athlete that made more money in one year playing football than most people would EVER make in a lifetime. Even if he has brain disorder, (by the way, who is paying for these tests?) he is a dispicable human being. There is no excuse for what he did. It makes me SICK to think about it. He should not be allowed to speak publicly about anything, LET ALONE return to professional football. I believe in an eye for an eye. How about slamming HIS head against a wall, or drowning him, or electrocuting him, just short of death so he has to live with the pain. Seriously. There is no excuse for him whatsoever. End of story, in my book.

He blew it and if the NFL reinstated him that would be a clear message in condoning his cruelty. I am really fed-up with famous and rich people getting away with breaking the law. Vick should never be allowed to own any animal as long as he lives. People who torture animals many times go on to hurt their fellow humans. He has never said he is sorry to the dogs, no NFL for Vick. He needs to pay the price for his evil behavior!

All the NFL cares about is making money. They don't care if Vick is a homicidal maniac, if they thought by letting him back in the league they could make a buck, then they'll let him back in. I'm sure they are thinking that people are just going to forget about what Vick did. We can't let that happen. I think that anyone who hurts animals is a sadistic sociopath, especially hunters. By proving he's mental it won't change anything. Half of the CEO's of top companies are probably sociopaths. There are lots of crazy people out there. Vick is going to end up just like O.J. He will eventually do something again that will put him right back in the clink hopefully for a long long time.

Actually, Valarie, if he technically is a psychopath, he can be put on anti-psychotics. It's a good idea to have him evaluated. It's not a good idea to have his brain scanned by an MRI. That's not going to prove anything, except maybe that it's pea-sized.
I vote for psychiatric evaluation.

THIS IS AN AMERICAN SPORT--- AND WHAT HE DID WAS BEYOND COMPREHENSION. WHY WOULD PETA INSIST THIS... WE SHOULD INSIST HE NEVER PLAY--- PERIOD.
WE NEED A BRAIN SCAN TO PROVE SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH HIM--- THIS MAN IS A SICK PERSON AND A POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING. NO NFL PERIOD!!!!!!!!!

Under no circumstances should Michael Vick ever be allowed back in the NFL. Pressure needs to be exerted on his advertising sponsors. If the money flow is shut down, then there will be no way he's allowed to play. In case no one has noticed, we do have convicted felons in the arena of professional sports. I for one think we need stricter controls to keep these felons from trying to be role models for our youth. Michael Vick has comitted one of the most heinous & egregious crimes. We need to keep an eye on him but keep him out of the limelight. I am truly embarrassed to have him counted as a civilized human being. No animal would EVER behave in such a manner. I would rather he NEVER get out of prison & I have no faith in his claim that he is remorseful. He's only sorry that he got caught & punished!
A brain scan should bring the point home that he is really sick but stop him from repeating his sins!!!

Have mercy and forgiveness for Michael Vick. If he learns to publicly help animals and be a good person, it will be proof that others can learn to treat animals better.
There were lots of influences that sent him mixed signals about how animals should be treated. The meat industry, puppy mills, dog and horse race tracks, and the military all treat animals poorly.
If Michael Vick has learned how to treat animals the right way, he should be encouraged, not condemned.

Are you serious some of the actions of PETA are ludicrous. To sit there and say "because he took part in the heinous act of dog fighting he should be put through a battery of tests to prove he isn't a psychopath and a harm to children he works with is extreme". Linking Psychological disorders to dog fighting is absurd the studies on torturing animals is that torturing not killing. It is also a precondition for children not that of adults. Sometimes I wonder how much more extreme PETA will become before actually becoming terrorists.

Vick is obviously not mentally healthy. I believe that he is dangerous and not only should he not be able to play his sport for huge amounts of money, but also he should be watched. He is likely to hurt someone else, maybe an animal maybe a human, there is no difference to me, suffering is suffering. Also he should not be allowed ever, to own another animal.

I've worked in mental health for over 20 years. I know that a person who is cruel to animals has a significant disorder. Usually, these people also abuse humans (domestic violence, child abuse). Unfortunately, there's no hope for Vick if he is a sociopath - and I believe that he is.

It is obvious this man has some sort of mental disorder. It is just enough to look at all he has done in cold blood! he is abnoxious, desgusting. He must undergo a MRI to diagnosis which mental disorder he has hence put him in the right institution, behind bars! This is the only way to keep other animals and also the population safe, because one day I am sure this man will attack people as well.

Michael Vick is a sociopathic sadist who does not belong in the free world, much less be allowed to rejoin the NFL!! I am not surprised in the least that the NFL will welcome him back with open arms. It is sad and disgusting. I am a football fan but I swear I will boycott the NFL and write as many letters as possible when Vick is reinstated. He should be seen as a shameful embarrassment to the NFL and people should stand together to see that he should FEEL EMBARRASSED each time he runs out on the field. Of course, without a conscience, he could care less. SUBJECT HIM TO THE TEST! I am SO AGAINST HIM BEING ALLOWED IN TO THE NFL AGAIN. What is wrong with these people!! They have no shame!! "The greatness of a nations and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Mahatma Gandhi

I can't believe that he would even be considered to be allowed to play again in the NFL. What the heck is wrong with the NFL that they would allow this person to ever play again! What a screwed up organization. Yea, this guy is a real good role model! Disgusting!
Posted by: maria | January 22, 2009 03:45 PM
Michael Vick should never be able to play again. He is VERY sick! Serial killers start out by killing animals. If he was not a public figure most people would be scared of this man and think there is something seriously wrong with him. There IS something seriously wrong with him.
This man deserves no praise from fans watching a game....no respect from players forced to be on his team....no financial gain....he is part of the scum scarpped off the bottom of the a shoe.
The only thing he deserves is to be slammed to the ground and having his back broken like those poor innocent dogs.....never to play or walk again.

To Claudia Lopez.
Do you read the Bible?
Judge not, lest thee be judged?
Turn the other cheek?
How many times did Jesus say to forgive??
Michael Vick, while flawed presents a huge publicity opportunity for animal rights and cruelty awareness. If he does his time, and can agree to PSAs, why not?? Wasting time trying to make him prove he is not a psychopath is just vindictive, and it won't raise awareness except that PETA is misguided. There are thousands of Michael Vicks, and I am sure than more than a few in the NFL and every other profession. If you won't watch the NFL (or any other sport) because he isn't subjected to extensive psychological testing, maybe you just shouldn't watch any sport unless all players, managers, and coaches and owners are subjected to the same testing.

How to explain to my son that this terrible criminal, a former hero of his, has been excused of the inexcusible cruelties he CHOSE to inflect on helpless creatures, is now allowed back in his old job, earning millions, with no real punishment or proof he even thinks he did anything wrong? How to explain?
Posted by: Penny Vance | January 22, 2009 03:56 PM
There has to be SOMETHING wrong when you are able to do things like that and not even be aware of hurting someone. The poor dogs suffer in a horrible and senseless way...
Stop that!!
Posted by: Christin | January 22, 2009 03:56 PM
Regardless of brain scan or not the NFL would be making a huge statement regarding their own lack of character if they considered rehiring this murderer. If we put "child" where "pitbull" is in regard to what he's done this wouldn't even be a debate of whether or not he should be given a second chance. It also horrifies me that he's even being considered to be in a commercial of any kind. The only attention he should get is to make sure he's as ostracized from society as possible since he obviously doesn't know how to act like a decent human being. He's a peice of sh*t on the shoe of society. Let's scrap him off finally and spend energy on someone worthy.

I can't believe you guys already condemned this Vick like you all are some kind of God. God is a forgiving person. You guys aren't. I bet you all call yourselves church-going christians, Catholics, or whatever unforgiving religion you follow and it disgusts me. Jesus forgave. It's terrible what happened to these animals but if there was a dog heaven, don't you thnk these dogs forgave mike vick? You guys aren't any better. Read your bibles. I say leave him be. He's served. He lost it all. Let him be forgiven by you PETA gods you make yourselves out to be. You guys are like a cult. Not any better than Scientology. I bet your gods are animals. There's only one God. More forgiving than you all. I'd hate for you all to be judged and just this one thing got in the way of everlasting life. And that is being able to Forgive. God bless you all.

VICK IS SICK !
Count me in on a massive protest if he's allowed to play again... or allowed anything again that will give him the means to violate animals again... aw hell, keep the bast**d locked up!
Anyone that 'takes him in' will be boycotted by me.

If they let him back in, it tells me, and society, that his actions are totally supported by the NFL. In fact that they are PROMOTING this kind of behavior. If he can treat helpless animals like that, imagine the kind of craziness he can do on the playing field! Go team go! IF he's back in, no more NFL for me...Hockey anyone?
Posted by: Martha Clark | January 22, 2009 04:07 PM

People doesn't respect animals, doesn't respect themself
Posted by: Desiree | January 22, 2009 04:11 PM
I think this is a little rediculous. Don't get me wrong, What Vick did is despicable and I am all for treating animals right. I think that he doesn't need a brain scan. He doesn't have mental problems. He's just a guy with a bit of a gambling problem and who got into wrong buisness. I feel sorry for the dogs that he hurt and i think Vick should not be let in the NFL. I also believe that the reception he will recieve in an NFL stadium would be enough for him to not play, but he doesn't need a brain scan. Again, this organization is really going over the top, once again, and should calm down and no brain scan.
Posted by: Joey Lipovich | January 22, 2009 04:11 PM
I am a fan of NFL football, but I am a defender of animals and a vegetarian first. Michael Vick would not be allowed anywhere near the NFL if I were commissioner of the league. PETA is being conned by Vick and his crowd. He is a sincere dogfighter and will never be reformed. Let me put it this way. If a man cheats on his wife, is there ever the trust that once existed? If a man physically abuses his wife, should she trust that he will never do it again? No and no. Any decent man knows this. Any decent man knows that Michael Vick is a piece of shit and should be trusted not at all. He will do anything, say anything to get back into the money and status he once had. In memory of the dogs that he trashed and all the zillions of dogs that have been tortured and treated as nothing, Vick should never ever get another shot at that brass ring. His depravity and cruelty (and that of his ilk) don't deserve to be approved in this manner. Evil must be named and treated appropriately. If this seems harsh to anyone, take a look at some videos and read the accounts of eyewitnesses to this stuff. Maybe my remedy is not harsh enough.
Posted by: Brian | January 22, 2009 04:13 PM
He's very cruel, and I can't understand why! Doesn't he have any feelings?
Posted by: Sara | January 22, 2009 04:14 PM
I do not think that his "remorse" is genuine. I think he will just do whatever he needs to to "make himself look good" to the public and move on with his life. I DO think it is a little extreme to ask for a brain scan, because come on! Anyone who consciously participates in things like he did IS SICKLY DEMENTED, period. No brain scan needed to tell that, common sense can tell you that. I also think that he should not be allowed to ever own an animal again, or be allowed near animals in any way. Other than that, let him go on with his life, he has lost much from his actions already, and in the end, karma will bite him in the rear end worse than anything else ever could. I don't sympathize with him, but I really think it is extreme to suggest a brain scan lol.
Posted by: jss | January 22, 2009 04:14 PM
Before all of you peta lovers jump all over me. I don't believe the NFL should re-instate him, but I do believe that the brain scan is a little bit over the top. He is a thug and a sick person. I love dogs and I have a great relationship with my own dog. but we can give the guy the break from a brain scan. he's not mentally ill
Posted by: Joey Lipovich | January 22, 2009 04:15 PM
Vick is obviously disturbed. If he has some sort of a disorder... he should know about it so he can seek treatment. I don't believe in violence against any living thing and I believe that we can educate and reform offenders. Lets not loose too much time on his past actions. Let's try to prevent such a thing from happening again by engaging ourselves in our communities, by being vigilant about animal abuse, reporting offences and educating young people about the importance of respecting all life (Albert Schweitzer). As a teacher, I feel that education is the ultimate weapon against cruelty, violence and ignorance. Pray that Michael Vick's conversion to kindness and compasion happens soon.
Posted by: Gaetane | January 22, 2009 04:20 PM
Michael Vick has served his time in Prison for the acts he committed. Therefore, I believe he should be given a second chance to make good with his life. How many of us cheered for him when he was in the NFL? I know some of us did. Sure the things he did were extremely cruel! He was tried, convicted and lost everything he owns and some. But, I also believe that he deserves a second chance. Hopefully, he'll be given a second chance and prove that he learned a valuable lesson from all this. I liked him as a FootBall Player and was very upset at what he did! I love Dogs and all pets! He committed a crime; he did the time. I personally hope that he is given a second chance and proves the naysayers wrong. We that judge others must judge ourself and be perfect first...

This is very upsetting to know a human being can be such a monster! I don't judge him but a higher source will for sure. you know when you hurt any animal it comes back to us. Now as far as this person's thinking. it's f*cked up completely.
Posted by: Sue Geldof | January 22, 2009 04:27 PM
I support PETA's intentions always, but this article hits way below the belt - and borders on absurd. We don't 'test' peoples' brain sizes / configurations to determine if they're psychopaths... we observe their behavior. I think in this case Mr Shannon is building a bridge too far. Where could this possibly end? We could forget high school test scores and start measuring peoples' brains to determine who goes to university and who doesn't. This entire article is frightening.

Pitbulls are very great dog. I have one and have had pitbulls in the past. They are the best dog possible with small children. You don´t have to worry if a small child bothers a pitbull when it´s eating. Pitbulls will walk away from the food and play with the child. Even as puppy, these dogs have incredible strength. It is such a shame some want to fight these dogs. It is criminal.

Peta should not be recommending him having a brain scan in order to play NFL again. They should be recommending that no matter what Vick does what he has done is inexusable and he should never be in the public paid eye again. Period!!!! AGain, PETA and everyone with any decency in their blood should say this guy is over!!!!
Posted by: Christine | January 22, 2009 04:31 PM
It sickens me that Michael Vick did not get the death penalty, Ted Bundy did, the similarities present. Both are psychopaths, actions speak louder than words, Michael Vick is a serial killer, no different than any other serial killer, and there are some comments he should get a second chance???? Shall we allow Charles Manson and all other serial killers to go free too? A living being is a living being, human or animal, murder is murder, torture is torture, it is not accidentally done, it is premediated and is so truly mentally ill, to a point such persons do not deserve the air they breathe. If it were up to me, Michael Vick and any other who ever harmed an animal, any innocent, would be made to take a swim in Everglades when the alligators were hungry, let them personally know what horrific pain they subjected another being to, and no need to waste taxpayer money on them in jail, useless they are. The NFL should be disbanded in totality if they let this deranged, undeserving of breath, lowlife have any part of their organization. He deserves the same mercy he showed he had to the dogs he savagely tortured and murdered, never should he be free amongst others or to have a second chance, serial killers = death sentence, "an eye for an eye".

Michael Vick should NOT be allowed back in the NFL. For the NFL to consider bringing him back, is saying what he did was ok. I think god is the one to forgive for the most part. I'm not saying people can't change, I'm just saying that he should have to work a humble job no glitz or glammour then if he can prove himself truly sorry and humbled years from now, he could be revaluated. By letting him back into the NFL pretty much right when he gets out is like rewarding him, WE SHOULD NOT DO IT!!!! If people will do this to animals, they will do it to children too. Most people that dogfight in the first place is into drugs, abuse their children and spouse. Let's not reward his bad behavior with a 5 million dollar contract or more so to speak.
Posted by: Tammy | January 22, 2009 04:37 PM
He is a disgrace, and should never play again. I hold the NFL responsible if a team gives him a shot. I will cease watching games, and I will notify the sponsors of my displeasure.
Posted by: Dave Harned | January 22, 2009 04:40 PM
One thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post: Peta, it is absolutely unthinkable that you would have this monster be associated with your organization in ANY capacity. Please, please see him for what he is: An unrepentant monster who is only sorry he got caught. And I tell you: If given the chance he would do it again.
I hope that a militant animal rights group gets hold of this bastard and administers the caliber of justice that he deserves.

I have been a member of PETA for several years now, but this article is really far fetched. How about testing the brains of the white people who enslaved, raped and murdered my Afrikan ancestors? They were human beings! Not Dogs or animals! Huh? Check out their brains! What about all those who call hunting a *sport*? Check out their brains for disrupting nature! How bout it??

Anyone who enjoys torturing animals is a psychopath. Would you let your yourself, a child or pet alone with anyone (reformed or not)?
Do really think the need for a brain scan is really necessary? OF COURSE, MICHAEL VICKS PSYCHOPATH!!! Look at what he did.
He cannot be helped or be changed unless the man wants to. NFL force him? I don't see a chance in that. But I'll sign the petition.

I think that he should be banned from the NFL for life and sent to Siberia! He is worthless and is this the kind of role model that we want for our kids? I think not!!
Posted by: Linda | January 22, 2009 04:53 PM
Heis claerly evil and disturbed. The option for him to even be allowed to play agian is beyond INSANE and shows how little regard people in general have for life and how ACCEPTABLE it is to commit the ATROCITIES this INHUMANE person did. SHAME ON THE NFL AND OUR LOVELY LEGAL SYSTEM.
Posted by: cat | January 22, 2009 04:54 PM
Wow. Classifying people through brain scans. Sounds kind of big brotherish to me. Sounds like really flimsy science as well. Sounds like PETA coming up with a ridiculous request in order to avoid featuring Vick in a commercial. I think he's scum, but a quackish brain scan isn't going to tell anyone a thing.
Posted by: Tyler | January 22, 2009 04:54 PM
First off let me say that we own a dog and love her very much, but you guys have got to be out of your minds!
Vick owes you nothing and he should tell you, and anyone trying to tell him what to do, just that!
In THIS country, according to our laws and rules, he has paid his debt through his time in prison, fines, and the loss of income while incarcerated.
Even if he has a brain scan, and it proves that he will not change, then what? You want him recommitted? How moronic, unbelievably stupid, and irrational. You want to trade the lives of animals for the life of a human being.
I just wish he, his lawyers, or the Politian’s had the backbone to tell you that publicly.
Reveille, reveille, reveille...

1st of all, it does not matter what the test determines, in the sense that under NO circumstances should he EVER be permiited to play a professional sport. By allowing him to play again, the NFL would approve of his behavior. We already know he's SICK for initiating such a ring of destruction.
2nd, he should not be permitted to own any kind of animal. Similar to a convicted felon not having the right to own a fire arm.
This man is DANGEROUS to society as a whole and should be watched very carefully.
Sad to say, if he has or when he has children....hmmmmm.....
Posted by: Janice | January 22, 2009 05:03 PM
Vick had his chance to be a role model - he blew it. The NFL would pay dearly should it decide to allow Vick to play again. What kind of message does that send? It's not a minor offense, he brutally and intentionally harmed living creatures. That's not okay, ever, and being banned from the NFL seems a light punishment for the crimes he committed. No PSA - I don't want to see his stinking, lying face, ever.
Posted by: Lauren | January 22, 2009 05:04 PM
What I have done is write the NFL and promise them that not only will I not watch any team that allows Vick as a member, I will boycott any product advertising on any NFL game. I will also work to get a national movement to do the same. I also assured them that I would personally write to each company advertising products during NFL games to inform them of the boycott. I doubt they will chose Michael Vick over making money. I urge everyone else to do the same. Bags of mail coming in threatening to boycott is a powerful incentive.

Just lock him up they will never reform him. why do we keep rewarding these creeps. he is only a football player nothing important why are you even asking him just do it or better still do what he did to his dogs to HIM.
Posted by: ?Lorrayne | January 22, 2009 05:11 PM
I just signed the petition to require Vick to undergo the proper testing. However, Psychopaths can pass the verbal and written part of any mental health exam as they can lie detector tests. The physical brain scan, however, can be very telling. I also think that this type of person cannot be considered sick as we perceive illness. These people are born without souls and will mistreat animals and humans for their entire sick and disgusting lifetimes. Whether he needs to go back to work for the NFL or any other place of business besides a McDonalds is very much in question. Oh yes, that's right, McDonalds has children coming in and out. So, maybe he just needs to get in the unemployment line for as long as that lasts and then sleep under bridges and beg money after that. This kind of person shows no mercy and should not be shown mercy. Even God, in the Bible, sent down armies of angels to slaughter the Evil ones so the good people could live in peace. He does not need to be slaughtered, and he does need to be shunned from society. Actually, life in prison would most likely be good for him and the rest of us. He just has run out of money paying restitution and such and now needs his little job with the NFL back. We should ALL make such money for doing nothing!!!!
Thank You,
Linda

Sorry I don't think money should be spent on brain scans or psychological testing. It is obvious he is a disturbed individual and is in prison?
So when he gets out, no position should be offered to him in the NFL or any other sports related profession.
Let him make a living like us regular folk I won't mention any jobs I am thinking of as I don't want it construed as an insult to those jobs.
Know that people will always hate you!!!!!

Mental illness can't be cured however it can be controlled however when one receives enjoyment from the pain of another cannot be controlled. If he committed the same acts towards another man or child he would still be sitting in jail and in some places sentenced to death however when man harms/tortures/eats and kills an animal they receive a slap on the wrist or it's called science or necessity. The change must come from us we must change legislation and public perseption

I've been sold the idea that dogfighting is "ghetto" and commonly accepted in poor communities.
I refuse to believe that folks in the "ghettoes" have no feelings and cannot identify cruelty & brutality.
Whether it's horrific brutality to dogs, humans or any living being, people that do cruel things are sick and sociopathic. It's a no-brainer for no-brainers.
Posted by: gio | January 22, 2009 06:56 PM
What Michael Vick did was horrible. He should never be allowed back into football - that should be his punishment for inflicting such disgusting treatment to innocent dogs.
Posted by: Jackie Holley | January 22, 2009 07:22 PM
I think the scan is a waste of time.By his actions in the treatment of those poor dogs he has already shown that he is a truely deranged and very dangerous person. With his type of evil nature he is also a great danger to children and other adults. He has no regard for any type of life.People say that animals don't feel pain or emotions, but I know they do.So my feelings are they should do to him what he did to the dogs. But don't let the dogs kill him , just chew on him really good then take him out and let him heal a little then do it all over again again.
Posted by: cindy | January 22, 2009 07:27 PM
Anyone who could do the things he participated in is sick. It's a know fact that most killers start out with animals.. and then move on. That said no he shouldn't be allowed to play football ever again, but his annual earnings or playing should go to help stop cruelty to animals, spay and neutering etc.
I'd put him in a pen with and let him fight a losing battle.
Posted by: Janet Gilliver | January 22, 2009 07:32 PM
I hope the NFL is above the Vick's case and will never consider him back. He should never be alowed on the streets.no more football in our houses if they consider him back.. What a discrace to everyone. another OJ> . He thinks he is above the law.
Posted by: JUdy | January 22, 2009 07:37 PM
If the NFL allows Vick to play again; regardless of the outcome of the tests that will prove he is indeed a psychopath, I will never attend or watch a football game again as in forever. I will buy no NFL merchandise, and will boycott all companies that advertise during games. He should spend the rest of his worthless life in a psychiatric ward.
Posted by: Casey | January 22, 2009 07:45 PM
Of COURSE the man is a sociopath. No normal human being tortures animals for money or fun. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he abuses women as well.
But the NFL is only about the money, what do they care about a bunch of dead dogs? They just want their moneymaker back.

Posted by: Lisa | January 22, 2009 08:08 PM
He knew what he was doing and all his buddies, as it's a 'certain kind of people' that are into that for status, and to be opposite of what normal people are. I heard that almost half of the NFL players are into it, again, a certain kind, that listen to the rap music, as most, not all, actually, I looked it up and only 2 rappers hate dogfighting, the rest are negative, violent, racist, and promote dogfighting, just to be cool, and they bring little kids to these fights. Most rappers are into it, and the people that listen to that and watch the videos, and accept women be called b****** and Ho's and N*****'s. I unfortunatly have to live in a state that is infested with this atmosphere, I see it all the time, those kind of people collecting pit bull puppies, let their teenage kids sport around some poor puppy, no collar, no leash, no affection at all towards the puppy and the dogs. So it's not just Vick, it's all those kind of people like him, but without all that money and mansions. Just read a story on dogtraining in Detroit, MI., where dog trainers are trying to get the word out, that pits need to be treated better, and not made to fight, if you are he owner of one..turns out that only 2 men showed up with there pits to do regular happy dog training, about 50 showed up wanting to see a dog fight, and they were either mad or confused that it wasn't a dog fight, but dog training and left...and these were the neighborhood 'kids' and some adults.

For the family's dogs Vick and his sick buddies forced to fight till death,to the many dogs who were still breathing and got buried alive,to the ones forcibly put on the rape rack, to the kittens who were thrown in there so that the dogs could get the taste of blood and rip you apart alive,to the ones set on fire while still breathing,to the ones brutally beaten in the most unimaginable ways...Rest In Peace.

This loser should never work in NFL again. Anyone who hires him back should be ashamed. This is something he enjoyed as he did not need the money. He is a liar and forced to say he is sorry and it won't happen again. He won't stop, he just won't get caught again. To do this is bad enough, but to envolve your family PETS is the worst!
Posted by: Sherry | January 22, 2009 08:32 PM
Michael Vick is a demented blood lusting psychopath that is a danger not only to all animals but people as well. PURE EVIL SCUM! He should have received the death penalty. I hope they never let him out because he will do the same torture all over again but only worse!
Posted by: lisa salazar | January 22, 2009 08:34 PM
It has been shown time and time again, people who abuse animals, have the markers for becoming a sociopath.
I think they should do a brain-scan on Michael Vick, to help advance the psychological sciences. Besides, if he gets upset enough, who knows if his next victim could be another human being.
Posted by: Jackie | January 22, 2009 08:52 PM
I think this might be a good idea. Many times a person who is abusive to animals can be an abuser to children, etc. This dog sport is despicable. As an animal lover and has special need animals, i.e. diabetic, glaucoma, IBS, and am known by my dearest veterianian as the "nursing home" for my older pets, It irritates the heck out of me that the life of an animal is a sport. SHAME, SHAME on MICHAEL VICK. If he is allowed to play football again, I know many who will never be fans of the team again.
Sometimes you have to trudge through a lot of mud to get to the grass. He is not done with truding through the mud in my opinion.
Kudo's to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary for taking in and caring for some of his dogs and for putting the situation on TV.
Posted by: blaze | January 22, 2009 08:54 PM
I don't believe people like vick are really sorry for their action..I'll repeat what alot of others have already said "the only reason he is sorry is because he got caught" he should remain in jail. The fact that the NFL would even consider such a person to represent their team should make everyone stop and think what kind of people run the NFL.
Posted by: Blanca Brooks | January 22, 2009 08:59 PM
I believe that he should not be given a second chance. He has proven his true charachter to all proving that he is cruel and heartless. Rehibilitation and change does not derive from being caught!!!
Posted by: Samantha Jagroop | January 22, 2009 09:02 PM
There is nothing wrong with him. He is just twisted individual that should not be given a second chance in anything he try's to pursue. Those poor dogs did not get a second chance. What should be done, is to treat him the way he treated those animals. This man makes me sick to my stomach.
Posted by: Aprilis | January 22, 2009 09:05 PM
This is to RACHEL: you said in the begining of your empty post that killing dogs is equal to being a murderer but yet you didn't say anything supporting it. You went on to say that murderers start off with killing animals. There for these murderers progress from killing animals there for they aren't equal. It would've been great if you supported your lifeless argument.

Michael Vick is everything thats wrong with society. He is an evil, greedy, no conscience celebrity who believes that Gods law and our laws dont apply to him. These kind of people will continue to do evil because society lets them right back in. Hes the damn devil, he is void of any human emotion. How you can harm such innocence and cause so much pain is something God will make him answer for. I will boycott the NFL, I hate football anyway. They are disgusting examples of celebrity mentality.
Posted by: maria | January 22, 2009 09:18 PM
People who love and care about animals cannot even begin to wrap their minds around a son of a bitch like Vick. He has no remorse, he got caught, thats what hes sorry for. Dont scan for a brain, its a rotten pea.
Posted by: maria | January 22, 2009 09:25 PM
I believe he should have been slaughtered, weather (not sure of the sp?) sick or just a scum bag he should have been slaughtered. Since he is still alive and will one day walk among us and is ultimately a threat to every living breathing thing, he should in fact be scanned for any brain abnormality.
Will any animal or human be safe?

NFL needs to shun this sickening individual altogether. The fans don't want him, plain and simple. He has shown everyone that he is as evil and selfish as they come. Vick should not be allowed to disgrace the sport any further. Doing "his time" is not enough, he's clearly a sociopath and should be atoning and answering for for as long as he lives, those atrocities and outrageous cruelties which he perpetrated on his victims.

Its too shocking to know Vic getting pleasure out of such ghastly act.. Can legal action not be initiated against him under 'Animal Protection Act' ? Vic - if you are reading these postings - keep yourself in place of the dogs and feel the pain.. Am sure, realisation will strike and you will put an end to this horrendous act.
Posted by: Anjali Sachdeva | January 22, 2009 10:46 PM
I think Michael Vick should have been executed for what he did. The worst thing in this world that someone can do is to abuse or kill an innocent, beautiful animal. He completely sickens me and I hate that he will be free to walk among society. Every time I've heard him say how sorry he is, I know that he's saying that he is sorry he got caught. Saying your sorry will never take away the pain or suffering that those dogs went through.
Posted by: Amanda | January 22, 2009 11:13 PM
the fact that m. vick, never had to stand trial, the public never heard the gruesome details of what this man did.do you have any idea how long it would take for a pitt bull to die by hanging? their necks are heavily muscled...they would fight and flop around for many many minutes.this man has NEVER even mentioned the dogs, he apologized to people.he decided that these dogs should die because they didn't measure up.well, m. vick doesn't measure up...and i'll continue to do everything i can, to make sure this piece of shit, has a tough time ahead.

If a person enjoys watching dogs brutally kill each other or is so indifferent he just wants the money, he should never be allowed near animals again nor small children for that matter. Wonder how he treats women? Definitely shouldn't be allowed back into sports as a hero. What a sick world!
Posted by: April Silverman | January 22, 2009 11:28 PM
As far as Vick is concerned he shouldn't even consider getting is former position back...as far as the NFL I'm appualed that they would even consider reinstating him. The problem with the sporting world is... big bucks, greed and a slap on the wrist to any player who breaks the law!!! The dogs that suffered and were killed at his hands didn't get a second chance. As long as crimes AGAINST ANY ANIMAL is taken LIGHTLY we continue to see light sentences given out not only to Vick but, to anyone who harms or abuses an animal! THANK GOD for PETA! Maybe we should tell Vick that dog spelt backwards is GOD........ and he will truly be Vicks' judge and jury!
Posted by: Tina Gates | January 22, 2009 11:31 PM
Would we even consider his release and return to normal life if he had done this to a bunch of children? How is this any different? Infact it is worse. He is a serious threat to society and should be allowed back into society. He must be denied a normal life until he undergoes treatment.
Posted by: Vichitra Amarnathan | January 22, 2009 11:32 PM
I've been a vegan since the day I was born and I , of course think that the acts of Vick are beyond sick and disturbing. However I don't see the relationship between reinstating him in the NFL to whether or not he has some brain disorder. He obviously needs help (a lot of it), and all I can see to do is have as much compassion for him as we all have for so many innocent animals. Isn't compassion what it's all about? All I hear are hateful and negative comments which, in my eyes seems to be the problem in the first place. He should definitely get some help...but we all should definitely learn to put love and positivity out there instead of more anger and hate. COMPASSION FOR ALL BEINGS, especially the ones who obviously need it so badly...
Thanks 4 listening...much love 2 everyone.

This topic has riled up America. And it should;
the outcome will affect the tolerence of violence in America for generations to come.
Lots of comments posted means lots of folks interested.
A brain scan? I will tell you now, they won't find one. I HAD to say that.
We need to think forward on this situation. Our youth looks up to professional Athletes. Research has proved some horrible facts that need to be faced;
Brain injuries cause a person to behave in a more violent way; compared to if they did not have an injury.
Years of football; I won't believe his brain hasn't been injured.
That said he is what he is; a violent thug.
Fact; people who display violence against animals,
are shown to move on to violence against people,
more specifically, children.
America, think about this man being around your children. I pray to our Lord this does not ever happen to anymore helpless creatures; including our children.
Posted by: Teriqua | January 23, 2009 12:09 AM
Regardless of a brain scan, I don't agree with that man ever being let back in the NFL and I don't think PETA should team up with him in any way shape or form. Let him do a PSA on his own if he's truly remorseful (and you know he's not). He committed horrible crimes, ones that lead to becoming a serial killer. Who knows if he hasn't committed murder to a human already. Do you really think he's having that awful of a time in prison? He's probably doing some fabulous networking while he builds his muscles. If he's ever let on the field again, I would support a protest against it. It would be unsafe for other players to have to play with or against him and disgusting for fans to watch.

I read all your messages. some of them have good points that I agreed some way and did not agreed with some way. You have to be careful what you said about Michael Vick. I wanted to share with you based on my experience where I grew up. I have seen some men invovlved in dogfighting. Polices did not arrest them in many years ago. I strongly believe Polices really know about it but keep it under their hats. My point is if Michael Vicks had not participate in NFL. we would not recognized him. It was not his idea of dogfighting. it was his cousins' idea and use Michael's money for granted. Michael's father did warn him. But he did not listen to his father. in ended up , He woke up and realized it is illegally. I belived it must be crab theory to destroy his reputation. He already had enough for his long suffered and painfu in his heart. He did attend class about dogs. He realized that was wrong. He did make a statement in public that how sorry he was to his family , friends, teammae and people. He did read in the bible . God forgave him for what he did was wrong. He has a desire to return to NFL and play to prove that he cared about dogs and serve in community about dogs. I think we should give him a chance to play in NFL. how many did he make a mistake in his life? I rather have him playing in NFL than Pac man Jones. Because Pac man had been repeated and repeated. Please give Michael Vicks a chance. He has remorse about dogs right now. He needed to clean up his reputation. I am sure he will do well in community when he plays in NFL again. he is 29 years old so gives him a chance.

Posted by: Giorgia | January 23, 2009 06:56 AM
I feel any type of animal abuse does not get a stiff enough penalty. The animals did not ask to belong to their owner, and it is the owner's responsibility to take care of these animals. Dog fighting as well as Dog Hoarding should have stiffer penalties. People that mistreat animals are only the lowest of the lows. People who mistreat animals should have to undergo treatment and not be allowed to have any animals at all. If they are allowed one or two, the problem will start all over again, especially without treatment to get to the bottom of the reason for the mistreatment of animals. Michael Vick in only one in many that have a problem and his penalty was not near stiff enough. People like this should not be allowed to be in the public eye. They do not set a good example for future players or our children who will be running the world in just a few short years. What are the children to learn from this experience. Will they learn it is OK to mistreat an animal, only a short sentence and paythe fine, and I can do it again? Is this the message we really want to pass on?

Posted by: Renee | January 23, 2009 07:53 AM
While I agree that what Michael Vick has done is absolute cruelty, I feel that a brain scan is not the appropriate solution. I have absolutely no empathy for him and hope that he is not allowed to rejoin the NFL, but forcefully scanning his brain is in violation of his rights, too. And while there may be indicators of what the brain scans mean, it is still controversial. I think that some therapy or a face-to-face diagnosis would be much more valuable.

Come on you guys. Be realistic. He is a product of a society that finds enjoyment from this horrible act. He is not a crazy guy that is going to start killing people as soon as he gets out. He is paying for his crime. IF he is signed by another NFL team it will be for nickels compared to what he made before. Have a little forgiveness and it will take you a long way.
Posted by: Jordan | January 23, 2009 08:31 AM
I agree with Renee up there. Asking him to get an MRI or whatever is just awkward and inappropriate. I don't think targeting the individual is the solution, PETA needs to start tackling the wider issues like animal abuse in relation to childhood influence, or the practices of a particular community. Some people just think it's not as morally wrong as others may think... is it their fault if they are raised that way?
Posted by: Jennifer Soares | January 23, 2009 09:16 AM
I feel Michael Vick needs some sort of mental help but what that might be, I don’t know. It’s clearly obvious he is not stable enough to be mainstreamed into the social norm, no matter what he look's like from the outside. There is no doubt he has severe, serious issues. Maybe if he was scanned they can figure out what the hell is wrong with him. Maybe, the brain scan will prove that he does need to be in a psychiatric facility.

Michael Vick is a textbook sociopath. He has no conscience. Therefore, he will never be remorseful for his actions, only that he was caught. Given the chance, he'd do it again. An animal's pain means nothing to him. He will con people into believing that he is sorry, only so that he may regain the life of privilege that he enjoyed. A sociopath cannot be reformed.

It`s a shame for the world and for human being, someone is hurting and killing animals like Michael Vick does. There is no excuse for it. But NFL should really thing about whats a star is about. I agree he has a right to make his living, but also the animals who got killed by him have a rigth for a good life without beating to death.
Posted by: susan | January 23, 2009 10:05 AM
PLEASE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE LET THIS MAN BACK ON A FOOTBALL FIELD... IF YOU DO CHAIN HIM TO THE BENCH AND THROW BUCKETS OF ICE ON TOP OF HIM EVERY FEW MINUTES.
Posted by: Kelly Brook | January 23, 2009 10:19 AM
i don't even like to think about the suffering of those animals too much. he has not shown any remorse so far, he's not going to change. if the NFL let's him play, some protest should be done to get the point across that it's not o.k. to hurt animals. count me in.

I just wanted to say that any human being no matter what their position in life is, but whoever does something this sick, something so demented, something that only the devil would ever do, should be put in jail for the rest of their lives, or better yet shoud experience what they have done to these animals, in this case is Michael Vick. Once a man that had everything in life going for him, he was an idol to so many children in the world, and now the world has finally seen the really Michael Vick, a piece of trash, a waste of life, killing so many dogs because they just did what their thought to do and that is obay, and obay they did, including that one dog that the electrocuted to death. We aint talkin about a human being, were talking about the devil living amongst us. He is a lunatic, so crazy that this waste of life has something very disturbing things in common with the likes of Charles Manson.
Posted by: Danny B | January 23, 2009 10:28 AM
He should never be allowed around another animal for the rest of his life. All of the dogs he had should be allowed to rip him apart, one at a time until he is dead. He did a terrible thing to those poor dogs. How does anyone forgive what he did to innocent animals?
Posted by: Darlene Scharfschwerdt | January 23, 2009 10:32 AM
Come on people... You do the crime, you do the time. Let this man get a job. It will work in PETA's favor if you have this guy contracted to work in kennels, and public service announcements for the next few years then to just ban him and make him the scape goat. What he did is the worse, for i raise beautiful american bullies and hurt when i heard what he did. But at the same time, you rebilitate people so they dont become worse in society.
Go ahead and ban him, then he just might keep doing this... Good day people....

Isn't the right side of the hippocampus larger than the left side in 94 percent of ALL PEOPLE?!? So of course it is larger than the left in 94 percent of captured psychopaths.
This argument makes no sense.
Posted by: DaveInBoston | January 23, 2009 10:53 AM
He definitely needs to be watched psychologically, like all criminals, for the rest of his life to ensure not another member of our fellow animals are harmed by him. Or that he participates in the abuse of animals, at other locations.

Put him in a UFC ring so he can go through waht those dogs did
Posted by: Ryan | January 23, 2009 11:46 AM
I think that Mr. Vick should be allowed to work. However, he should not be allowed to enjoy the fruits of advertizers big or small. He should not be on cards etc. He should not be allowed to be a role model at schools.
Posted by: Marie Nugent | January 23, 2009 11:52 AM
I think that Michael Vick is a horrible and gross human being. He deserves to sit in jail and think about how he tortured all of those dogs. I think that it is outrageous that there is a possibility that he will return to the NFL.
Posted by: Stef | January 23, 2009 12:04 PM
THIS MAN IS NOT IN THIS RIGHT MIND-DOES HE HAVE A SOUL OR CONSCIENCE? APPEARS NOT. I BELIEVE THAT ANIMAL TORTURE AND CRUELTY IS JUST A STEP FROM TORTURING AND MURDERING PEOPLE. IF YOU CAN DO ONE, YOU CAN CERTAINLY EASILY DO THE OTHER. EITHER A PERSON HAS A SOUL OR THEY DON'T. THIS IS A MAN THAT SHOULD BE WATCHED VERY VERY CLOSELY AS HIS ACTIONS SHOWS HE IS WITHOUT SOUL, CONSCIENCE, DECENCY OR COMPASSION.

I live in England and have no idea who this vick chap is, all he is to me is a very sick individual who should not be given the time of day. He committed the most distressing crimes to mans best friend and for that I believe there is no going back. He obviously didn't commit a crime just once it was obviously many times over and therefore I do not feel that a test is required, he has proved himself by repetative crimes to dogs that this IS HIS NATURE and therefore he should pay the price and be shunned. He deserves to be locked up for the rest of his life. A message should be sent out that these crimes to animals are not going to be accepted. Stop pandering to him by keeping him in the news in your country. If these crimes had been committed towards human beings the purpertrator would be facing life many times over; why should it be different because it was dogs, they have a right to love and safety, they are intelligent beings with strong emotions, how would we have liked to be one of those poor dogs, our familys would have fought for justice.
This individual is so obviously sick beyond comprehension he cannot be trusted in the future around animals, children or adults. He should be locked up and left to rot in the hell he has brought on himself.
Posted by: Sally Webster | January 23, 2009 12:23 PM
He's obviously a psychopath. Keep a lifetime watch on him and ban him from coming within 100 feet of all animals.
Posted by: Dalton | January 23, 2009 12:23 PM
Letting this guy back in the field with such a criminal charge and hatred for animals as to PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THIS TOP OF THE LINE CRUELTY TO ANIMALS, to me it sends a message from the Football commitee that they approve of this Criminal's action and it gives the ok to torture for present and future criminals who commit crimes against animals. I cannot imagine someone funding this torture and horrible way of living and dying for these extremely intelligent and loving breed of dogs and for all GOD'S creatures.

Mechael Vick is only sorry he got cought. He has no remorse or cares about animals.
Posted by: Elsy | January 23, 2009 01:06 PM
He is a disgusting man!!! A person like that will never change. If he could do those horrible things to innocent animals than something must be really wrong with him. Murderers and abusers get put in jail and they should stay in there forever or get what they did done to them. Thats what should happen to michael vick. He should get put away forever or better yet the death penalty. I'm sure everybody agrees with me. The ones who don't are sick like him
Posted by: DINA | January 23, 2009 01:48 PM
I just hope that Michael Vick pays for what he did. If he really repented -that is fine. However, I truly think that he has serious issues to deal with. Any person that takes pride, or rejoice in hurting and abusing an animal has serious behavioral issues. Then crimes, because that is what animal cruelty is, should be severly punished. Animals cannot speak, or defend themselves-but people take it on their hands to do so. This is unacceptable and wrong. Animal abuse, and cruelty is a crime, just as it would be if you hurt an individual. The problem with our society today is, that people have lost touch with what is wrong and right. This is why the world is in the shape that it is. The violence, the hatred, and so much more. Michael Vick has to stay awayfrom animals, and I hope that he never does this again. What a shame that a celebrity with so much ability, and money utilizes it in a negative manner-instead of helping people, others, and animals.
Posted by: Tania | January 23, 2009 01:49 PM
Wow, people are ruthless. "I hope he pays for what he did". Well, he's lost well over $100 million dollars, is currently in prison and had his livelihood taken away from him. I'd say he is pretty much destroyed. I'm against all animal cruelty, but the fact that NFL players can kill humans and still play (Leonard Little, Ray Lewis) is beyond me. Heck, he would have been better off molesting some kids. Let him do his time, and let them man get on with his life.
Posted by: Bryan | January 23, 2009 02:11 PM
a ct scan will not help him. He needs to start over and not as a role model in the NFL. He needs to start with the children with his story. He needs a special task force to root out other dog fighting rings and stop the horrific sport for good and it should be made known what he is doing and be supported. This is the only way it can be believed he is rehabilitated for good. That should be his quest if he is truly sorry. He,s hurt too many kind people to be allowed back into society without proving himself worthy.
Posted by: lYNNE sCHUMER | January 23, 2009 02:22 PM
I'm saddened by most of the commentary I have read. The violence expressed by many of you make me concerned about your state of minds. How many of you would actually carry out the forms of punishment you speak of? Are you aware that to do so would make you no better than him?
Venting your anger with words rather than with actions CAN be healthy: however acting it out with such venom, even in print, speaks to the very reasons Michael Vick participated in these abhorant acts.
Desensitized to violence. Apathetical to the pain of others: animal or human.
The sad fact is that Vick was only one person in a culture of desensitized violence that is wide spread in the world. We see it in all measures of human suffering: drugs, serial rapists/murderers/pedophiles,child labor and forced prostitution, human trafficing...the list is long. We see it in equal measure in animal suffering: dog/cock fighting, animal product testing, unregulated circus animal treatment, slaughter houses, unchecked breeding...the list is long.
Humanity is in short supply.
I am blessed with an AKC American Pit Bull as a companion. She is my third Pit and the joy of my life. Her "sister and brother" each lived to be 13 and 10 years old respectively. My first girl was the gentlest soul I have ever known, human or otherwise. My boy, my son, loved me without reservation. I rescued him at two months old from drug dealers that fought his parents for fun and intended to use him for "pit bait" because he was small. Both went peacefully into God's loving arms as we all should when our time comes.
Trust me when I say that am capable of violence if someone were to hurt one of my babies; or any animal for that matter. That makes me one of you, does'nt it? I pray that I am not put to this test.
Michael Vick is a victim of the culture of violence that prevails in the world. Call it peer pressure or the cult of personality. The truth is that most of us are victims as well.
PETA, the difference between US and THEM is rapidly closing.

I think a psycho test is a bit intrusive and I'd question the accuracy/validity of such a test. 94% (if what the say is true) is not 100% Plus what would the test prove?? That he is faking and wants to get back into dog fighting? Money is a big motivator and he's lost most of it. There is no way he is going to risk everything a second time.
Posted by: Sly | January 23, 2009 04:05 PM
We all know he is only sorry he got caught. It is imperative that this man get the psychological help he needs before he unleashes his illness on other entities again.
Posted by: Jessica Claerhout | January 23, 2009 04:14 PM
If the NFL care at all about their own ratings or about keeping loyal fans - they wouldn't even consider letting him play again. You would have to be an inhumane person to even consider it. He's a filthy person. There should be tougher penalties for people who abuse animals!!! He shouldn't even have the chance - he should be locked behind bars!
Posted by: Laura | January 23, 2009 04:49 PM
Well, I don't condon what he did but he is doing his time in prison. So not letting him get back in the NFL is wrong. He's paying for his crime, why take his job away? His job is to play football, he's not a Vet, he's not around animals durin his job so why protest the man's way of earning money.
Posted by: J.C | January 23, 2009 04:51 PM
It's rather shocking what this culture of indifference can produce. It shouldn't surprise anybody that this soulless and greedy individual and his hanger-ons should want to return to a life of easy money and cheap thrills.
Posted by: vegancoin | January 23, 2009 05:49 PM
look if the guy does his time and goes through whatever test hes put through and passes theres no need for the world to badger him if hes is remorseful. theres people that rape and murder childeren. now that is sick, i'am saying dont ruin what little carrer he has left, why mess with the NFL IF they reinstate him. and thats a big if.... i'am not saying that what he did was right, it was a cruel thing to do, but people make mistakes and i think he should get the chance to make things right by working with peta and doing that commercial that peta wants soo bad
Posted by: Ray | January 23, 2009 06:31 PM
Michael Vick will play again in the National Football League.
What he did is wrong, but for the NFL it doesn't matter what he did; for them, is the same if he stole a bank, killed a person or arrange dogfigths.
Many people will support PETA but at the end he will play because the team will have a lot of free publicity.
If he retunrs to jail, is the end of Vick... NFL wouln't accept him again.
Posted by: JJ | January 23, 2009 07:19 PM
he should stay in prison,he killed to make money.he'll never be able to pay back those innocent dogs.there are alot of dog lovers in prison and if they ever put him where he should be he'll get his payback.plus no one should ever pay him to play football, kids look up to the players.

I have posted comments about this bastard before and will continue to tell the world that this so called human being IS NOT going to change. He should be pissed on and then you know...... I am discusted with his and others that think they can abuse animals and get away with it. Why are there so many abusive people in this world. I do not think he should ever be able to continue to play football. It's simple.... Why should hebe able to do something he enjoys ????He is a waste of skin along with the others involved.
Posted by: Maureen Harrison | January 23, 2009 08:16 PM
To the last commentor, i have to disagree that he should get his job back and that is how he made a living. yes he should have that taken away, and why should he be able to make a living doing something he enjoyed???? He should have to make a living picking garbage out of ditches naked so he can be humiliated. He does not deserve to ever do something he enjoys doing. he is a disgrace to society.Shame on him.

The more I read, the more sick I feel. I am a lifelong vegetarian and am more passionate about the rights of animals than anything...That being said, I truly can't believe the hatred coming from all you supposed peaceful and compassionate people. It is beyond disturbing to hear what some of u have to say...The amount of anger spewing out of u all is just another negative...which, in my opinion, is completely ridiculous and not much better than the acts of Michael Vick. It saddens me to the core to see the animal lovers and activists of the world come together out of complete hatred. The things I've heard are EVIL. To wish a cruel death on anyone is sick and twisted, no matter what things they've done. Why don't u all learn COMPASSION and realize that putting more negativity out there only increases the darkness in the world. Why don't u all just leave it to karma. Learn how to LOVE. II truly am baffled at the disgusting comments I have read. Maybe EVERYONE should have their heads examined...This is ridiculous.

Posted by: Cookie | January 24, 2009 02:29 AM
What Vick did was so disgusting but him getting a brain scan or anything wont prove that he is sorry for anything i mean i dont see a problem with it because anybody that gets kicks out of animals fighting has problems but stuff like that can happen when you get caught up with the wrong people and the whole protest thing about him not being aloud back into the NFL is WRONG! why do that to him just because he has messed up once doesnt mean he doesnt deserve a second chance like J.C said he isnt around animals when hes playing football... as a fan of football i would love to see Vick come back as a changed man and be the same dynamic player he was so why not give him that chance... everybody desevers more than 1 strike b/c nobody is perfect

Posted by: Debbie Lucas | January 24, 2009 06:40 AM
I think he's learned his lesson. The nfl will most likely sign him back on. If he has done his time in prison for his actions then he should be able to live his life without you all in his business. If he continues to mistreat animal then you can get back in it. Give him a chance.
Posted by: Jennifer | January 24, 2009 10:06 AM
I think they should make him work as a volunteer at Dogtown or at a Humane Society. This way he can really see how wonderful animals are.
Posted by: joel gonzalez | January 24, 2009 01:06 PM
So some people say that he has paid for his crimes - people absolve him because he is a good football player? I don't believe he has paid enough for the unbelievable torture he put those innocent animals through for what? He had plenty of money - he didn't do it for that. So I believe that he did it just to cause pain - he is a sociopath! PETA should hound him and the NFL till the end of time so that he can never be in a position to torture another animal again!
Posted by: Dulvi Gaudio | January 24, 2009 02:41 PM
I hope, that Mick Vick making a fast comeback on the pitch. He's one of the greatest Players I have ever seen in the NFL and it shouldn't play a role, what he has done in the past. I also have a dog(St Bernhard) and I can forgive him!
Give him a chance!
Bring Vick to SF, Mr McCloughan!

It makes me sick to think this so called human being and all the others involved could do such cruelty to these poor animals. I could puke when i think of him and under no circumstances should he be able to do what he loves to do again. Why should he. yes he should have a job.And that job should be picking garbage and fecies out of ditches. Thats the only thing he is good for. actually he will never be good for anything... He should be ashamed of himself.
Posted by: Maureen Harrison | January 24, 2009 08:42 PM
I do not believe this guy has any remorse for the poor dogs he abused. He and his rich buddies just want everyone to turn their eyes and let the jerk play again! Only someone with a mind like his could say, he's sorry and it's for only one reason, to get him back in the game!
Posted by: Gwen Cline | January 24, 2009 08:45 PM
Why not just treat michael vick the same way he treated those innocent precious dogs!? It's only fair!!!!! Electrocution is fun, isn't it michael!??
Posted by: MC | January 24, 2009 11:36 PM
Uh...I don't think PETA's point is to get back at Vick personally-I think it is to protest his being allowed to reinstate his influence on society by taking up a prominent role on the NFL again-that's it! I don't think anyone with half a brain is ignorant to the facts that already prove him a psycho-sociopath, regardless of his rearing-It may be case or fact that someone abuses their child because that was their experience growing up however, it does not justify the act itself, no matter who commits it. PETA is trying to diminish Vick's influence on society's tolerance of animal crimes, that's it! They already understand that the guy has a problem-but it does not appear that the NFL does (even if the NFL does or doesn't claim to truly care) Think about it.

His behaviour is sociopathic. He will never change. He made a public apology to the media to gain support from fans so his financial career wouldn't get interrupted.
If anyone in America has the balls, they should assassinate that bastard quickly before he gets his grubby money-hungry hands on anymore innocent animals.
He WILL do it again, it's only a matter of time. No court order will get in the way of his insatiable thirst for harming innocent beings.

This guy is disgusting. In times when so many people are struggling, looking for work, fighting to survive, he is paid a humongous salary, is held up as some sort of demi-god, and then he chooses to torture animals? He should not only be evaluated, but sacked and ostracised. Freak! Perhaps if this society began condemning such horrid acts of cruelty to animals, we could all move forward in every way.

HE IS THE LOWEST FORM OF LIFE THAT WALKS TOO BAD HE DOESN'T ROT IN JAIL FOR THE CRIMINAL ACTS HE HAS DEMONSTRATED. HE IS THE LOWEST FORM OF LIFE WE SEE TODAY...LOWER THAN AN ANT'S BELLY I HAVE NOTHING BUT CONTEMPT FOR HIM AND ACTUALLY HE SHOULD BE "DEAD" IN MY VIEW..WOULD BE ONE LESS PIECE OF TRASH WE NEED TO DEAL WITH IN THIS WORLD. I think what he did was DISGUSTING and there's no excuse for it. But this article is REDICULOUS.
As a PhD. candidate in psychology, I can tell you that this is not the use for psychological testing. Diagnosing somebody with a disorder like APD is extremely difficult, and can't be done just because he did ONE thing that fits the profile. That's like saying that somebody who is sad for one week out of their life suffers from major depression. Psych tests aren't to be used to shut people out and make their lives worse. Instead of your rediculous proposition, Vick should undergo A LOT of professional counselling. Testing is not really the issue!!!

no - never again in the NFL - someone who engages in this kind of activity is seriously disturbed - has to be SICK to enjoy watching dogs kill each other - waste of humanity
Posted by: Ellen | January 26, 2009 12:46 AM
Michael Vick is undoubtably a sociopath. One of the key symptoms of someone with an anti-social personality disorder is the abuse and/or torture of animals, usually starting at a young age. Another is a lack of remorse (NOT just saying you are sorry, but TRUELY meaning and FEELING it). Also, the inability to feel empathy. Vick seems to possess all these traits. Like pedophiles, his (presumed) disorder is hardwired into his brain and cannot be "cured".
He talks about repaying his debts as not being a big concern because he "plans" on returning to football stardom and making a lot of money. This is disturbing because it shows that he thinks that what he did was not so bad and the NFL will welcome him back with open arms and all will be forgotten. This is also typical of a sociopath who does not have the same perception of his acts as "normal" people do.
I don't think he should be allowed back in the NFL, but at least he would be in the public eye where we can keep a closer eye on him.
Posted by: julia sciotto | January 26, 2009 04:03 AM
Some of you who are so disgusted at the acts of Mike Vick and feel he should be scanned and prodded and if you would be honest, maybe killed. You guys voted for and elected George Bush and he sent all these soldiers to Iraq and Afghanistan to die and undeserving death but I don't hear anyone requesting a brain scan. And to Mr. Bush he feels he did what was right in his own mind. I'm reminded of a story in the bible where Jesus ask the woman's accusers, he without sin cast the first stone. When they looked up the people were gone. If you all have done anything that anyone else may think is mind boggling, you may need to check into a hospital and give yourself a brain scan. My suggestion, forgive him and hope he gets help. If he screws up, allow the law to punish him accordingly.

I have followed this story from beginning to end. I am shocked that so many indivduals wish Michael Vick harm. Where were all of you when hunters shot and kill defenseless animals, not to mention the treatment of horses in the racing industry. Is it alright to call for Michael Vick's head and at the same time ignore hunters and race horse owners that comment the same criminal acts. Let's go after all of the offenders not just one of them.

Do I think he’s going to stop dog fighting? Absolutely not! All this time in prison has given him enough time to go over a new dog fighting plan that will insure his name is nowhere near it….he’ll have a new staff and all… after all it is a business… he’s been doing this since he was in collage… it’s a drug to him, and to feed the demon inside him, he will do it again… the man is a snake and a manipulator…he will easily pass this test or any other test thrown at him…OH and don’t even think he’s not checking out PETA website in prison… they do have internet access… yes it’s monitored… so everything you pull out for this guy, he’s going to be three steps ahead of you…. That’s the snake in him… and if they didn’t give him internet access, I’m sure someone is filling him in…
PETA please continue to put him in the spotlight so the jerk will never be forgotten of what he did….
The NFL could care less if they get bad publicity… It’s publicity and that’s all that matters to them…. Unfortunately there too many others out there that agree that he’s done his time and should be able to play again (most of them live in Atlanta) and it sickens me to see people say (and they are dog owners too) it’s just a dog….
And does it really matter that kids will be looking up him, of course it does BUT most of the NFL players are on drugs and a lot of them get busted for it all the time, but does that stop them from playing NOPE... they get a slap on the hand… The NFL has even told the players to call them first before contacting the police if anything bad happens to them…. I have a feeling we won’t win on this and the jerk will be playing again and if for some reason he’s not slick enough to busted again (he’s really not that bright at all) I will and I hope everyone does but a lot of the blame on the NFL for allowing him to come back and sponsoring his dog fighting (that’s what the NFL will be saying to me… we are paying Michael Vick to play and we know about his past, but we still want him so in other words we sponsor dog fighting)

I agree that Vick 's behavior is egregiously antisocial by any standard, but I'd like to see some evidence that verifies a link between imaging studies and aberrant/psychopathic behavior. Without that, there's too much "wiggle room" for his lawyers and handlers to make excuses for him. Instead, let's just judge the guy by his actions and permanently ban him from pro sports so he can't earn a fortune and be viewed as a role model by folks who don't know any better. Even if Vick has had a change of heart there are some things which shouldn't have a moral statute of limitation.

Are NFL players JUST football players or are they celebrities and role models??? This is the question that needs to be answered...In my humble opinion, I believe that they are celebrities and role models. Pete Rose was banned from baseball for gambling. Other athletes have been investigated, prosecuted and banned from sports for steroid use. Much more benign than the cruelty that was meted out to innocent canines. Bottom line...I don't want him on any of the teams that I support. If he shows up on ANY sports team, I would seriously have to question the judgment of the owners and/or the commissioners. Maybe he could get a job at a dog park - cleaning the grounds!!!
Posted by: chefaz | January 26, 2009 07:02 PM
Wow seriously. He served his time. Let him be. I'm sure he won't do it again. I think PETA is over-stepping their boundries.
Posted by: Brian | January 26, 2009 07:06 PM
I am not in favor of a test. I only wish I had the words to influence Roger Goodell, as to the anguish and terror those dogs went through, because of Michael Vick...to stop all of this with one sentence. A Life Time Ban, period. The NFL does not need Michael Vick. There are plenty of decent players to choose from. Roger Goodell has left the door slightly open to future events, by an indefinate suspension. I would rather see PETA use their influence to convince Roger Goodell toward a life time ban....Now.
Posted by: Max61 | January 26, 2009 10:06 PM
I sincerely hope the NFL has enough common sense and decency NOT to allow Vick back playing for them. He is, in my opinion, including as a physician, a classic psychopathic-type person who will say and do anything to get what he wants. I do not believe his statement and "apology" for running this illegal dog-fighting enterprise. I do not believe he is truly capable of reforming his abominable behavior toward dogs. Also, I think his team leadership, and probably the NFL would take him back, so as not to lose his money-generating capabilities for them. I would be (pleasantly) surprised if they actually did the right thing, and had nothing more to do with him, EVER!

Although I love animals, I'm more against cruelty to humans. What many previous commenters are saying is just plain cruel. He lost more money in endorsements than most people will make in a lifetime. While what he did was absolutely wrong and making animals fight for pure entertainment is immoral, that doesn't mean he hates animals or that he's a killer psychopath. He is (or was) simply a wealthy athlete who developed a taste for private gambling in a bad way. Dogfighting and cockfighting are cultural staples in many countries and its never been an act of hate to the animals, its just a social activity. Don't get me wrong, I don't get what's so entertaining about canines ripping each other apart, but I can understand how people would tolerate it or even enjoy it. To dogfighters and the like, it's just another bloodsport. Even better because no humans are involved and people aren't harmed. A love of bloodsport is ingrained in the human psyche. That's why the Gladiator fights were so popular in ancient Rome, and why football, boxing, and MMA are so popular today. I do believe the man does have some moral issues, but that can be cured with a busy schedule. He'll serve his time and pay his dues, then we should forgive him and let him be. Guaranteed, all eyes will be on him if he is reinstated, so I doubt there will be any more incidents like this. But to all of the so-called compassionate people who want Mike Vick to rot in prison or worse, perhaps YOU should get a brain scan. Loving animals is important, but that's nothing compared to loving your fellow man.

PETA we stand behind you on this issue!!! There is something wrong with our society if They allow this Perverted,Sick,Twisted,Evil shell of a man to play in the NFL. It is truly scary to think people like him are walking around and functioning in our world. GOD HELP US!!
Posted by: BJ | January 27, 2009 06:47 AM
I don't think a brain scan would achieve anything so I don't think to make him have one is a good idea. I just hope that he's never allowed near an animal again unless its for facing up to his dispicable and hateful behaviour. I hope he is sorry for what he's done, not for his own peace of mind, just so that no more animals suffer at his hands. And please, don't give me any of that Christian crap...thats not going to make the world a better place.
Posted by: tracy o'neill | January 27, 2009 07:41 AM
You know the world would be be a better place if people understood that we aren't called to judge each other. If he doesn't feel any remorse about what he did then let God deal with him. We are suppose to forgive each other. Look within yourself before pointing the finger at some else. Remember, "Christians are striving for perfection". If he's forgiven in Gods eyes then who am I to question that? LET GOD BE GOD !
Posted by: floyd harvell | January 27, 2009 08:21 AM
I don't think it takes a brain scan to determine he's crazy! It's obvious in his despicable actions! What a world we live in if the NFL takes him back... some role model for our impressionable children! America is so wrong and backwards.
Posted by: Julie M. | January 27, 2009 08:22 AM
Honestly,
This is what is wrong with our society today! People blurt out comments and thoughts without thinking! So, I understand what he did what wrong. Cockfighting is wrong, I personally feel game hunting is WRONG, running a horse into the ground for a race is wrong, caging animals for human viewing pleasure in zoos is wrong. There are alot of things wrong in our society. However, when someone pays their debt to society and serve the punishment, people still want to continue to punish and torture the individual (human being), WHY? He admitted to what he did, IT WAS WRONG, he served time, and now let him get back to life. We all have made mistakes in life, some bigger than others. What's the difference between a person that is arrested for a DUI and a person that is arrested for a DUI and killed someone while driving? One person was just lucky that they didn't hit someone! They both made the same mistake, driving under the influence. I am usually behind PETA, but this is a little too far. Now you want to take this guys job, when jobs are limited as it is? If you want to punish him for the rest of his life and isolate him from society, why did you send him to jail? We should have just picketed him for everything he tried to do and made his life a living hell everyday! No? That sounds crazy doesn't it? Well so does this article. We have too many other things to worry about. We don't need any publicity shots, everyone completely understands where PETA stands on many issues, and asking the NFL to do a brain scan of a football player will make us look ignorant! If you scanned all of the NFL players brains, I am sure you will find their brains are ALL different from ours. They play an aggression sport that hurt other human beings, sometimes killing them, or physically disabling them. So, yeah, I think their brains are developed a little different from the norm. Their aggression centers of their brains have to be larger. You would need to test All NFL players to find a norm in those individuals. We are not communist!! We already have too many psychological tests. Just leave this guy alone, and let's find more people that are doing wrong. WE already sent him to jail, remember?

This fool should not only spend the rest of his life in jail but anyone else who has the nerve to say he should just be left alone needs to get their brain scanned too. His guy should have his back broken too and way more than that tortured and left alone to die a horrible death just like he made those poor dogs face horrible deaths. As a dog lover nothing is bad enough for him what he did is just another act of him trying to show he had some sort of power and had no right to do any of that homeboy is worthless a piece of nothing who felt good about torturing flesh worse part thousands died before he was caught. Hes nothing more that a liar who should never be left back in the NFL walmart shouldnt even take him in as an employee.

Posted by: abigail | January 27, 2009 03:12 PM
Why ANYONE would do something so vicious and inhumane to ANY living thing is beyond me, and should be a huge red flag showing that they're just mentally unstable. Sure, scan his brain, but if his team even CONSIDERS letting him back into the team, count me in on the protest valerie mentioned. I mean not only would it show how disgusting his team is for letting him back in but, really, it would be better for their sake that they don't let him into the team again.
A.) It would make them look VERY bad
B.) There are so many other talented athletes out there, why give this thug another chance and not even let someone else have ONE chance?

i hate michael vick. i think that he should be shot or slammed into the ground like he done to those dogs.
if the NFL lets him play again then PETA should organize a biiig protest & count me in. I have a voice and i will let it be heard!
Posted by: Kati | January 27, 2009 05:32 PM
Vic taking that test is suicide because even with either results he is still guilty of what he previously did and the fact that the mistake cost him millions of dollars would prevent him from doing it again or at least doing in the us or a place where he can be held accountable for his actions. Also if the NFL required players to take the test it would find that there a lot of psychos in the NFL because of the amount of anger and rage and violence that goes along with it. The fact is no one who would ever want to get paid again would take that test if there was even a remote chance that it would show negative results

I think that it is ashame for we as people to be so quick to judge. This young man has paid his debt to society. You need to be thinking about the economy, and hope that you can ride this mess out. Get a life and leave this man along. He has a family that is waiting for him. I hope that some of you have kid's he does and he needs to be with them. REGARDLESS TO WHAT YOU SAY. RACING HORSE'S IS CRUEL. I THINK THE OWNER'S,TRAINER'S, AND RIDER'S NEED A BRAIN SCAN. NOW THINK ON THIS.

The amazing thing is that Michael Vick was did get into any trouble with the NFL for dogfighting. They got mad at him for running the illegal gambling involved with dog fighting. While I may not agree with all your points i think it is good that someone is still following this story of the worst criminal treatment of animals, they should let him play again but if he gets injured dont take him in for medical care just do the same thing he was doing to his injured dogs.

I refuse to sign that petition. Vick should not be allowed back in the NFL regardless. He should be at the very least suspended for another year. There is no way the NFL can say that his suspension ran concurrent with his jail time. That’s crap, they may as well of not suspended him at all.
PETA needs to demand that Vick get suspended on top of his jail time. Him walking right back into the NFL is ridiculous. If I knew how to contact the NFL I would tell them that they will never get another dollar out of me if this man doesn’t get suspended.

He's only sorry, because he got caught.
Do some people honestly think he'll change?
Yes, change is always constant, but sometimes, the change is... for the worse.
I'd like to see him behind bars forever.
That would be a good anti dogfighting ad. Vick, behind bars, saying, "this is where dogfighting gets you."
I don't understand how people can be so cruel. To household pet type animals, or farm animals, or to other people, or to any living creature!
Posted by: Anna | January 30, 2009 02:51 PM
I saw the 'STIMULUS RESPONSE' Video... I Must admit... it was not very interesting, some what boring and for most of us ...we probably couldn't pass or perhaps would have scored poorly on the test also, unless we were given the opportunity to rewind the film and actually analyze it over and over and over again...
To base Michael's compassion for animals solely on this test merely demonstrates an underprivileged opportunity for Michael to truly redeem himself. His remorse shouldn't be based on his opinion of PETA's Stimulus Response Film. There were no 'out-right' yes or no answers to the questions.
However!!!!!!!!!!! Michael could have exercised his ability to respond with correct and proper English and spelling. To use the letter 'u' instead of writing out the word 'YOU' only gave them ammunition to keep this saga going!!!!
My concern is that 'People' are now taking an animal cruelty situation and turning it into a 'How Much intelligence and empathy does Mike have' Situation.
True he may not be the 'Smartest' man on earth...But none of us are...We all have done poorly on tests ... however, when it comes to actually demonstrating what we have learned the 'out- come' would be totally opposite...
G ive Michael Vick the chance to prove himself by example...not through paper.
A 'C' to some of us is a great achievement.. Truthfully Some of us are just NOT GOOD at taking tests.
Is Mike an Intelligent Man??? OF COURSE HE IS!!!
Does Michael make the best decisions??? No. Not all the time...
All this proves is that Michael needs positive 'Influential' people around him...
some of us are product s of our environment... However it doesn't define whether or not we're smart or proves whether we're compassionate...it merely shows that we (Michael) have things we (He) need to learn and improve upon...
very much like the 'Stimulus Response' Film...
We as humans sometimes become limited and comfortable with certain actions, decisions and surroundings (Much like the animals in the film) depending upon what our habits, actions and surroundings are...however once taken out of our environment and exposed to a more freeing and positive environment...we too, start to change and adapt... beginning a growth process...Michael is and will begin his growth process...
Michael shall Rise!!!!

In a few short days, Michael Vick most likely will be released to an halfway house in his hometown to serve rest of his Federal Sentence. If it is with SERENITY will he be reformed?
Only time will tell.
God, give us grace to accept with SERENITY the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

I couldn't run this justice system, because people like him would get the punishment they deserve. (Eye for an eye, ear for an ear, tooth for a tooh, finger for a finger, etc.) So two dog fighter trainers as you call them would do the same as they made the dogs. This is what I would do if I ran the justice system, just like the system of the olden times. Since they will not do that, TAKE ALL OF VICKS MONEY, PROPERTY, AND ITEMS, AND f*N USE THE MONEY FOR ANIMAL FOUNDATIONS, PLUS MAKE IT SO WHEN HE WORKS AGIAN, 50% AT LEAST GOES TO THEM AS WELL. If he wants them to fight, make him pay. Yes others do it, BUT HE HAS BEEN CAUGHT DOING IT AND HE IS SUPOSE TO BE A Friggin role model.

I think PETA has gone too far with this article and letter. I agree with a lot of things that this site stands for but the fact that you want to give this man an MRI scan is ridiculous. If he submits to this test, and the results come out, what are you planning on doing? What do you want to do the information?People already hate him, people already think that he is a horrible person, you don't need to force him into an MRI just to prove a point.
I do not support Michael Vick in any way and I do think he's a horrible person and I'm very glad that has been found guilty and that he's suffering for all of the consequences because he deserves it.
However the letter you sent him and this article is useless because no matter what happens, nothing will change. The NFL doesn't have to take anything PETA says into consideration. I think you are wasting your time and resources, you should just let this go and do other good work.

I do not support a test of Michael Vick.......Everyone who can read, knows what he did and for how long, and in what manner.....He received, thru "deals", the lessor of a sentence, not the maximum, as prescribed by law for the given crimes......So, now what?.....He does not deserve to return to the NFL.....or have the NFL clean it up for him.....If he broke one law, you have to judge, is that a bad thing?......If he broke two laws, you have to judge is THAT a bad thing?......Vick broke about (17) Legal, Moral, and Ethical laws of society....You the general public have to decide, at what point do you personally, finally say, NO MORE.....ENOUGH.......Vick is who he is, that will not change.........He deserves nothing......No NFL...Period.

heck yah man, scan that brain!
Posted by: sean | February 3, 2009 09:17 PM
I am a vegetarian, attorney, and great supporter of animal rights. But I strongly disagree with PETA’s position seeking a brain scan and psychological testing on Vicks – or any criminal – to see whether he is likely to commit criminal acts again. The science is not as advanced as someone has led you to believe; you cannot really look at someone’s brain and know whether he is “doomed to repeat mean, violent behavior.” You can see whether he has damage in the frontal lobe, for example, but frontal lobe damage does not mean he will be cruel to animals in the future. The brain and human personality are far more complicated than that. Furthermore, it’s a dangerous precedent to set, scanning people’s brains for evidence that their behavior can never change for the better.
If a scientist told you there’s something in the brain of an aggressive pit bull that makes it more likely to act aggressively, would you support not attempting to rehab the dog? Of course not. We recognize that animals are influenced by a combination of genetics and environment, and that if environment changes, so can the animal. Why do we think Vicks is less capable of change than a dog is?

I am concerned that diagnosing Michael Vick with a psychological disorder, even one with negative connotations such as A.S.P.D., will only get him more sympathy from the press, and from any lawyers involved. And obviously from the entire psychological community. Defense attorneys have been known to use mental diagnosises in their favor. PETA should consider this before they move forward with demanding any such test. Think about it now: "Poor Mr. Vick, mentally ill, and everyone coming down on him so hard! He has no control over his actions, rather he is a victim of this horrible disease."

1st somebody that does something like that it can not be normal....y en nombre de la comunidad latina, pienso que un acto como este, no tiene perdon de DIOS,esta persona deberia totalmente ser expulsado por vida del NFL.
Ni siquiera lo estaba haciendo por dinero, lo estaba haciendo por enfermedad,es algo que no puede ser curado....esta en el...y lo q se merece es mas tiempo in jail.(when he gets out) he is goin to hate animals more....so the only remedy is :dont let him make more money, let him feel the consequence and it has to be watched ,(he will do it again)

sorry for my ingles...he does not need brain scan, he is like that already, there is nothing that can change him...just jail

Wow, I too don't think Vick should be free to live in a civilized society. I signed the petition & sent it to my friends. Please, everyone do everything possible to stop this vile subhuman from resuming his NFL career, sign the petition, sign any petition to let the NFL know we will not stand for this sadistic criminal to be a role model for kids, or just pick up where he left off like nothing he did really mattered.
That will send a message to dogfighters that the punishment isn't that harsh & everyone will forget you brutality towards defenseless victims, the dogs he tortured & killed for his twisted amusement & gambling.

I am happy to see PETA taking a positive stand for these animals, especially after PETA claimed they could never be rehabilitated (And they have been rehabilitated wonderfully!) Lets hope Michael Vick never gets back into the NFL!

As it is I not pleased of what has gone on in the NFL now they want to put back a killer of innocent animals out on the field of play?
I think that is even the most horrible of ideas for them to even entertain and that is a fact.
All the cheating that went on with the Patriots and all they did more or less sweap it under the rug and now they want to put a killer of innocent animals back on the field of play I just don't think that will make the NFL look good at all not only in the United States but world wide.
I think they should think more than twice about that because they might lose a lot of the people who watch this game and that is a fact.
Their a lot of animal lovers out there that just might get really upset with that thought and that is a fact.

Listen, I'm no treehugger and I LOVE FOOTBALL. Should they let this human excrement play in the NFL again, I'm thru. Is he sorry?? Yeah, sorry he got caught. Don't give me that crap that his surroundings predisposed him to that behavior. I grew up in the inner city and I have 9 cats and 2 dogs that I would do anything for.The sad part about this is I'm sure the dogs he tortured also showed him love and this is how he repaid them. Hey vick, you SUCK!
Posted by: William Mendes | February 6, 2009 09:47 AM
Well, for the secure ofthe animals and the human beings, we must bring this idiot back to jail, I hope NFl, will not allow him to play again, his cruelty must be puished. Please everybody send the message to the NFL, and we will take revenge for those hurted dogs.
Posted by: Rodrey | February 6, 2009 09:51 AM
How can a person without a heart have the posssiblities to play again ?? ITS UNBELIEVABLE AND UNACCEPTABle! He must NOT go out of jail. The jail, that horrible place is just for horrible persons , just like him!!!!!

This man should never be alowed near animals again. I'm glad his carear has suffered due to what he has done in his lifetime. Would he like it if he was hanged, drowned, or shot? Would he like to be slammed to the ground? No don't think so. He is a pathetic excuse for existance in this day and age. He should be left to rot in jail for the rest of his life. Whether he is right or not in the head doesn't give him the excuse of abusing inncoent animals. Rot in hell

I came to America from Indonesia 11 months a go. I really concern about animal, but in Indonesia I never heard about PETA. So, I never know about this person before, but read that article made me cry and angry. What I say just this person, Vick should not allowed to back to NFL. Dogfighting !!! Uh, I want to put person like Vick to fight until death or stroke...so, they can feel how hurt it is. Come on PETA members...fight to people like him.

If I committed a crime that landed me in prison, I sure would not be able to get my job back. I am in a position where I am to be held to a higher standard than the "average" person. There are "conduct unbecoming" issues. Why anyone feels that this man, who was in the same type of position where he was being looked up to, admired and respected, should get another position in the high paying NFL, I cannot understand. Yes, he served his "time" but what he did is so out of the realm of what a normal, descent human being would do he should absolutely not be able to get his highly admired position back. It is ridiculous! Anyone who thinks he should be admired again is plain ignorant!

Vick's should be punished the way he punished those dog's...He has proven already exactly who he is....We do not need to waste any more money on this abuser, and any sports team that would employ him, are fool's. He should be finacially punished for what he has done. Any paycheck he receive's he should have to give fifty percent of it to prevention of cruelty to animal's........
Posted by: Maggi | February 6, 2009 03:52 PM
I too think this man should be throughly investagated as well as others who abuse testosterone drugs to gain weight for muscle mass to play "football." Many of these men have become violent with their own wives or girlfriends from too much testosterone. It really screws up their brain. This man is a disgrace and I believe should not be let back in the NFL and never allowed own a live animal for the rest of his life. He has proved to the American Public what he thinks of animals.

Michael Vick needs a brain scan for ASPD
Posted by: nikkie | February 6, 2009 07:14 PM
The NFL has a responsibility to its fans and especially to the children who aspire to be like their stars.Severe and repeated acts of cruelty to animals are not what football fans, particularly children, need to think about when they see a player or buy a jersey or an autographed picture. I am a huge fan and devoted follower but I cannot fathom the thought of this man being allowed back into our homes every week, making millions, and setting a wreckless example to others. He had his chance and he used his money and power to murder and torture innocent lives. By embracing him back into the league you would be shouting to the world that what he did is okay. IT IS NOT !!!!!! IT NEVER WILL BE!!!! They were not "just dogs". They were devoted companions, many who probably loved and trusted him whole heartedly. He found it entertaining to watch them be ripped to shreds. He will have his freedom soon but he will never deserve the honor to play in the NFL, TO BE A "STAR", to be a role model for young boys! NEVER! Surely the NFL can see that!
Posted by: AMY | February 6, 2009 07:53 PM
Vick should be very ashamed of himself for doing such a cruel thing!!! He DOES need testing, how coluld you do that to poor innocent animals.....I am a proud owner of a pitbull & have 2 boys & our dog is such a big baby, she is great with the kids, I just do not see how ANYONE could do that to animals.....they are so helpless!!! He should be in the dogs place & see how it feels!! What an asshole!!

Posted by: renate | February 7, 2009 02:20 PM
This is why I do not support the NFL... Because they let monsters like Vick in. If someone did to him what he did to those POOR BABIES then that person would have never seen the light of day again. But, that just goes to show you that monsters like him have more rights than any of these babies do. I really feel that they should never let him around the public or anykind of animals for that matter. Put, him on a island in the middle of nowhere with no one but him on it. See how he likes being the helpless one for a change.
Posted by: RRK | February 7, 2009 09:15 PM
Micheal Vick was allowed to make MILLIONS of dollars playing a,(in MY opinion),worthless sport, and all the while causing unimaginable pain and suffering to innocent animals?Ridiculous! When ordinary people like my family, completetly revere and adore our best animal freinds, they ARE family. If this person will kill animals,he'll kill people.
Posted by: Leviatha9 | February 8, 2009 12:55 AM
No matter what Vick does, says or how many PSAs he does he is still an abuser and a killer. He will say whatever he has to say and do whatever he has to do to get back into football. No amount of shame the public piles on him will change how he feels or how he acts in public. That PETA would even work with him is a disgrace.
Posted by: Allison | February 9, 2009 09:53 AM
I agree with Holly he should be dead. But not an easy chair death. First everything that was done to his dogs should be done to him (and his partners)
Posted by: SUSAN | February 10, 2009 11:10 AM
Alright people read this carefully. Vick is serving his crimes. He has paid his debt to society time and time again. All of these negatives comments discusses me. Plus we all have have relatives that fight dogs at some point or another. Since when did America's laws value a domesticated wild animal before a human being. I do not declare dog fighting a descent activity. However I personally can not stomach a dogfight. So say this, these people we call hunters are far more guilty than Vick. think about it. how many people out ther have deer heads hanging on their walls. How many birds have our airplanes killed for we as humans to have the pleasure of flying. How many chickens have been fought or eaten over our greed.

Posted by: RUBEN | February 11, 2009 10:41 PM
I think that he should be tested, and if there is any evidence that he still might mistreat animals, then he should be denied back into the NFL.
Far too many sickoes in our society get away with horrid abuse and murder, time and time again.
Whether or not he has a mental illness or not, if there are any signs that he is still a heartless subhuman, then he should absolutely NOT be allowed back in.
(I also think that there should be jobs given to people that can monitor these kind of animal abuser's on a regular basis), to make sure they are being compassionate and civilized to animals)
Sincerely,

I don't know why Mr. Vick is suppose to be sicker than the individuals that are still operating Dog Fighting, Rooster Fighting, Horse an Dog Racing and God knows what else. These are reportedly cruel forms of entertainment, yet millions are made each day at the tracks. All should receive equal justice.
SEND HIM BACK TO THE NFL WHERE THE BETTING IS EQUAL OR GREATER.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPEND WHEN YOU FORGET WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU COME FROM.
THIS IS TYPICAL "THE RULES DO NOT APPLY TO ME" THINKING. I THINK THAT VICK HAS HAD A VERY LONG TIME TO THINK ABOUT HIS STUPIDITY.
CAN HE REINVENT HIS CAREER? SURE. SOMEONE WILL BUY HIS CONTRACT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO WIN.
ASK THIS QUESTION--- IF PACMAN JONES WAS GIVEN A CHANCE, WHY NOT VICK? IT IS ONLY FAIR IF YOU THINK HE DESERVES THE CHANCE.
THE NFL ALLOWS THESE PLAYERS TO THINK THAT THEY ARE SO SPECIAL THAT THEY CAN NOT BE TOUCHED. CHANGE SHOULD COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did a terrible thing as we all know. However, everybody deserves a second chance - while being monitored closely of course.
Did anyone hear the comment from Clinton Portis from the Redskins. He basically said that he didn't see what the issue was - why was Vick getting arrested. That is not verbatum.

...Michael Vick does not deserve to return to the NFL....for a multitude of reasons.....Arthur Blank wants to sell Vick's contract to some other team, for Blank to get some of his money back, and not affect the team salary cap..........Roger Goodell is the only one who can issue a Life Time Ban.....thus stopping Vick forever......Everyone please write Roger Goodell at the NFL and tell him your thoughts of Vick.......Only if enough letters and e-mails reach Goodell will there be a chance of stopping Vick from being reinstated......PETA should do more to influence the NFL and Roger Goodell, and the Owners Association.......A brain scan does nothing to stop Vick from returning to the NFL......The NFL money, is the only way Vick can extract himself from his financial liabilities....Vick will say whatever, to whoever, so as to be reinstated to the NFL....Please write Roger Goodell.....No more Vick.....

People like Vick don't usually change. They thrive on hurting innocent lives. This is what they live for. In my opinion, Vick will do terrible abuse to many more animals. He can't possibly be remorseful as he does not have the capability to feel for another living being. He has demonstrated that to the world. He should be put in a ring full of hungry wolves and left to die just as he has done to these poor animals. He is an animal abuser and no doubt will become a child abuser as well. The abusers don't stop when their hands are slapped.

Any professional team that hires Michael Vick will face unprecedented protests, season ticket cancellations, a dramatic drop in overall ticket sales, and protests from both fans and players alike from ALL NFL teams. Who wants to go to a game with angry protestors at every event both at home and the road? The media will slaughter the team’s name (Perhaps permanently) as well as their owner, coaches and incompetent uncaring management.
.
As a bonus the team’s sponsors will abandon them in an unparalleled fashion never before seen in the history of American trade and commerce.

I mean the man did his time so let him live!!! hasn't he suffered enough??? Ask yourself if michael vick was your brother, cousin or dad, would you still feel the same way???? hmmmmm makes you think right

Vick should never be allowed to play in the NFL, period! After what he did, he should never get the chance, again, to make the money that most people in America can only dream of. Please post this article and petition on your networking site (IE. Facebook, Myspace, etc.)

Posted by: doug williams | March 6, 2009 08:11 PM
The NFL isn't a league of peace loving vegans. Half of the guys playing defense are there because they enjoy hurting people. Take a look at Ray Lewis, he killed somebody. Then there's guys like Ricky Henderson using drugs. If we force Vick to have his head examined where does it end. Do we go the the NHL and examine anybody who throws a punch in a fight? I'm not defending Vick's actions, but I find it absured that people actually believe that diagnosing Vick with a mental illness will change anything. He was a tremendous athlete; I believe he deserves to play again, even if he has to play in the European leagues.
Posted by: Daniel | March 9, 2009 09:14 AM
This man is sick very much like a child molester or a serial killer. Not much hope for him and he should not be allowed to become a hero figure to the world. 'vick is sick' and thats what is needed to be known about him. Dogs are what the owners make of them and fighting a dog is not necessary as a sport or entertainment. To think of killing and maiming animals is wrong. PETA is not my favorite group but when they intend to help the helpless I will support them in spirit and financially.
Count Vick out!! Put him away with O.J. and others like him.Deranged and cruel. Enough!

He belongs somewhere far away where he can not hurt ANYONE,ANYTHING ANYMORE ever hear of it Vick AAA club.??? Like OJ and the rest of the murders in this world will get theirs in the end! NFL Managers beware... there will soon be a Vicious animal let loose,SICK VICK!!!!!!!

Frankly, I think you folks are a little over the top in many arenas, but this I will support. I think you are making a mistake by asking for conditions, he should be banned, period. I cannot even think about what Michael Vick did to those dogs. What he did is absolutely despicable; it reminds me of serial killer signs, only worse. He clearly has psychopathic tendencies and allowing him back into the NFL without testing him is saying lets allow anyone to play, regardless of criminal history. Upcoming football players will feel like they can do anything and be accepted into the sport as long as they are good enough. NFL players are role models to billions of teens around the World; this did not set a good example for them. This is telling them that all can be forgiven by saying your Sorry. Well it can't. If you murder numerous helpless animals, that tendency will grow and will eventually lead to hurting humans. I realize that he has agreed to speak about how bad dog-fighting is, but seriously, he got joy out of strangling, electrocuting, drowning (need I go on) poor helpless dogs and laughed. I don't think that someone can change that much. You can try to hide it, but it is always there. He needs to be tested not only to play football, but because he is a danger to himself, animals and society.

DOGFIGHTS, COCKFIGHTS,EVEN GRASSHOPPER FIGHTS HAVE BEEN A PART OF OUR SICK SOCIETY FOR FAR TO LONG. ANYONE WHO GETS PLEASURE FROM THE PAIN OF ANY OF GOD'S CREATURES WILL BE JUDGED. KFC, mcdonalds, burgerking etc... kills millions of animals a day and no one cares. Hunters kill deer,ducks,rabbits,etc.. for sport (and don't let me get started with hunters who kill for fur coats.) have you ever seen the way baby seals are killed? Everytime I pick up a paper or get online someone is downing vick's actions, Vick has served his time, it's time to move on people. "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone."

It's outrageous that PETA is planning to use hardcore animal abuser Michael Vicks as its new poster boy!
PETA will get plenty of media, Vicks will get reinstated into the NFL, and the animals will continue to pay the price. Where will you be when the next group of dogs are abused? Will you simply walk away again, saying that they should all be euthanized because they can never be rehabilitated? Thank goodness that the fate of Vicks' animals was not left to you and many of them found forever homes with loving families.
It's interesting that you have been meeting with Vicks' PR handlers for 18 months and your members are just finding out about it. Have you considered that perhaps some of us don't wish to be affiliated with Michael Vicks? I know I won't be renewing my PETA membership if he comes onboard.

If we still got sports like dogs & horse racing, and all kinds of hunting sports why should I have any sympathy for those dogs? Where all the protest & t.v., news, websites, and net spot on those sports? The guy made a bad choice in life, but served his time. He should have a second chance at life just like the killers, and other top notch criminals in this world. Y'all need to get off the dudes back for real. I believe that he is conscious of what has happened and will be able to move forward. He has paid his debt to society by serving his time. Must he pay for this crime for the rest of his life? Is PETA interested in it's mission or using a big name to make a political statement? What he did is truly wrong and if he can work with PETA to influence some youngsters not to take this path, that would be a good thing. PETA has to be careful not to be dragged in the mud with how they handle this situation.

What Michael Vick did was wrong and he served his time, but calling him a psychopath is a little harsh. We all love animals and I do not condone the torture he put those dogs through, but I do remember a time when a large portion of the country were treating human beings the same way. Michael Vick tortured and killed dogs that weren't performing to his liking. Some of us have people in our family tree that tortured, hung lynched, beat to death a race of people for as little as not performing or complying, or just being different. Do we call them psychopaths? No. In some states we have High schools named after them. I don't suggest we name a school after him, but trying to destroy his career for a mistake that he has already paid for is not necessary. These men that tortured a race lived a life with no punishment. I believe the best we can do to them is remove their names from graces. We have already done this to Mr. Vick as well as judged and punished him. I would think that PETA of all organizations would refrain from "Beating a Dead Horse".

What! Because you can throw a ball, you are allowed back, to do anything?
Remember people, just before
he was "busted", he gave an "obscene" jesture to the crowd! He dosen't appreciate anything!
Can his butt, kick him to the curb. I do not think that he will ever teach anybody, anything!
And I do not want him on any team I support!
"VICK" is a "BUM"!

Michael Vick has paid his debt to society, He should be allowed back into the NFL.It is pathetic that Vick gets 2 years for this when another player Donte Stallworth gets 30 days for driving under the influence and killing a man who was making his way home. What is this society coming to when we value the life of a dog more then the life of a human.

My name is Susan, I am recently unemployed and therefore, I cannot afford to make a monetary donation, however, I have added my name to the Petition concerning Michael Vick being required to undergo psychiatric evaluation. I am appalled that the NFL might even consider reinstating him - he engaged in activities that resulted in torture of innocent animals that have no voic of their own and got nothing more than a slap on the wrist at the expense of the tax payers. This is unexceptable, inexcusable - and quite frankly, what he should be doing is spending the rest of his life volunteering at an animal shelter and doing EVERYTHING he can possibly do to effectuate the saving of these valuable lives that improve our overall healt and keep us sane.

Yea i was once a Falcon fan until i seen the way the organation turned they back on Vick when he needed there support i cant believe its went this far to even act as if your not gonna let him come back in the league thats crazy because you would have to go as far as thinking is this really the worst thing a player has done in the NFL cause that the way the crime is being treated come now 2 years hes done basically no football or nothing all his fans turning there back on him i look at it like this the number of murder cases thats occured in the NFL and the number of people who actually done time for it do you really think all that stuff was an accident of course not just think bout and picture it pitbulls are actually neglected by most Americans they think they are to aggressive and these are the same folks wanted to hang Vick because the was once a time when he was on the field and you couldnt call any game he was playing in cause no one could contain him the most exciting player in the league i would like to see if he still got it but he deserves a chance to prove himself though

Michael Vick is a sadist and a psychopath, and not worthy to be a player in the NFL>
How about the Commissioner of the NFL watch a video of a dogfight & listen to testimony of the types of torture and mutilation that these innocent animals endured before he makes his decison?
Posted by: Christine McGinnis | July 13, 2009 09:54 PM
Michael Vick is a truly gifted athlete. He made a mistake, a large one at that, but we should not bar this man from doing what he was born to do, play football.

the man has paid his time for his so called crime let him be so he can get back to what he can do best and to all you hatters out their step of and i bet you will be the first ones yelling his name when he throws a football again he is the best and you look at nfl and get the rest so let the best be the best again

Mike Vick have been found guilty and he did his time. He has been out of the league and he has lost money. PETA is taken this too far and people have shown more hate and evil against him. Those who dislike his acts have not shown a way of helping him. The history of America has shown violence of such where they have hung, drowned, and burnt human beings, not dogs. America arrogance has even put this in the history books, but never convicted those who participated in the killings of these human beings. PEOPLE....LET IT GO! DON'T CAST STONES!
Posted by: RAM | July 20, 2009 07:02 PM
Well if we are going to go this far about MIke Vick then I guess all the people who have animal heads and horns hanging on their walls need to get some jail time as well. An animal is an animal how can we hunt and kill some and then protect the ones we want to. I can have a pet deer duck and all kind of wonderful animals, but just because you can tax hunting season and make some money off of it, thats ok. Shoot a dear and decorate your house with the head, come on. Lets go around and lock up everyone who has a deer head on their wall. But let someone kill a human being and look at how many people, and how long people talk about that. Americans need to put their priorities in order. We have soldiers dying in War, but we are too focused on trying end people lives here with slander and charges for animals. And we turn our head to the topics we really need to be paying attention to. And with that if you have ever hunted anything for a sport you are no better than mike Vick.

ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE HIM NOT NFL NOT PETA. IT NOT OUR PLACE TO JUDGE THIS MAN. HE SERVED HIS TIME HE BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE LET THIS MAN BE. THEY DONT HAVE CHILD MOLESTER PERSONS WHO COMMIT AGGREVATED BATTERY, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE,OR CONVICTED KILLERS GO THROUGH ALL THIS AFTER THEY SERVE TIME. LET MICHAEL VICK BE HE HAS SERVED HIS TIME FOR HIS CRIME. GOD FORGIVES ALL US FOR OUR SINS BUT WE CONTINUE HARP OVER THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER LEAVE MICHAEL VICK ALONE WHATS DONE IS DONE WE CANT BRING THE DOGS BACK WE CANT CHANGE WHAT HE DONE TO THE DOGS LET THIS GO HE HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE ACTION HE CHOSE FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE THATS PUNISHMENT IN ITS SELF HE LOST SO MUCH AS IS FOR WHAT HE DONE HE STILL HUMAN AND HAVE RIGHT TO START OVER GOD HAS FORGIVEN HIM IF HE HAS ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS SO SHOULD WE.

Dog fighting or any tye of cuelty to animals is terrible. It's amazing how God asks us to forgive. Personally we all want to be forgiven when we do wrong, especially if we get caught in our wrong doings. In certian instances and with certian people we have a differnt set of rules. We still live in a society where the color of your skin dictates your convictions and your punishments. Though a great majority will say this is not true it very much so even in this case. But there come a day that your crime or your race won't matter, we will all be judged equally.

JUDGE NOT, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye JUDGE, ye shall be JUDGED: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you AGAIN. I say wrong is wrong and sin is sin, and if you have wronged or sinned then accept the punishment handed down by the appointed authority! Because we as a ppl are judgmental and usually not forgiving - (another sin by the way.) Kinda sad hugh, we want to be forgiven but don't want to forgive, we want to be shown mercy but desire to show no mercy, we want to judge but not be judged/ i say it's a sad day in America and WOE unto us. And so we too should be punished, to what degree: well that's up to the appointed authority. In Vick's case it's Roger Goodell right now, but in Vick's case and everyone else including Roger Goodell and rjohnson2842 GOD would be the appointed authority and what he says will be the final verdict regardless if we agree or disagree w/ his JUDGEMENT - kinda like Roger Goodell now??? LOL! God will bring every word and deed into account, so step lightly when ye JUDGE for with what measure ye mete or(JUDGE) it shall be measured to you AGAIN!

I FIND IT HORRIFIC THAT THE NFL WOULD ALLOW VIVK TO PLAY AGAIN,HE HAS NO REMORSE FOR WHAT HE DID,AND WHAT MAKES PEOPLE THINK HE WONT DO IT AGAIN,AS LONG AS VICK IS IN THE NFL I WILL NOT WATCH IT.
Posted by: doris | July 27, 2009 04:23 PM
I do not care what the test would show. I am disgused that the NFL would ever consider the reinstatement. What does this show everyone out there about the laws? What does this tell our children?

Michael Vick made the biggest mistake of his life. He spent his 2 years in prison. He agreed to the psychological test. Now there are two alternatives for Vick's life.
1. Keep Vick out of the NFL. Let him struggle to find any other alternatives for his life. Vick is a convicted felon. He cannot get a simple job. Let him continue to hang around the wrong people and let them influence him. There will be a 50/50 chance he will go in the wrong direction in his life.
2. Vick returns to the NFL. He gets booed and ridiculed of course. He knows he can never change his past. He cooperates with PETA (which I'm pretty sure he will) and makes public statements against cruelty to animals. He shows people that it is possible to learn and grow from their biggest mistakes. He knows that he would be the biggest idiot on the planet to let his family and true fans down again.
I will be watching Michael Vick play football. I want to see a man grow and better himsef from his horrific acts. I want him to have love for all da dawgs! I want him to become a winner in his life! Of course until he plays my team. That's the only time I whish for him to be a loser.

What about greyhound racing? Completely legal in America and well known for slaughtering tons of dogs who don't run fast enough. What about all the dogs we "put to sleep" at dog pounds every year? How about hunting? Completely legal in America and everybody knows the prey animals like deer suffer before they die in many cases. Are the Spanish and Mexicans sociopaths because they enjoy watching bulls get tortured and killed in bullfights? How many of these animal lovers are in favor of the death penalty for humans? I think a lot of them are phonies who pat themselves on the back and think they are morally superior because they stick up for animal rights. How many of these hypocrites eat meat? How many eat eggs for breakfast? Have you seen the way egg-laying hens are treated? America is full of phonies and hypocrites. Football itself is a very violent sport that causes countless injuries to the athletes. Some football players end up paralyzed and even dead.

I have never in my life heard such nonsense. Why would someone need an MRI to determine if he will "dog fight" again? Talk about a waste of money and time, regardless of whose time and money it is. So why not give rapist, METH makers, disrespectful children, and impatient teachers a MRI? Come on people how would you like to be constantly reminded of a mistake that your made? Unless your that PERFECT person who never made one. Of course, your not if you are your not walking this earth. To those who claim they will never watch NFL if he plays..... so what. I'm sure that every "1" person who claim not to watch there will be 3 who will watch just to see how good he will be. I'm sure there is more some of you can care about than what Vick will do in the future. For what it's worth I love dogs too, had one all my life. I just belive that Vick was as example that had to be made. No one cares this much about crimes, drugs, unemployment, education, obesity I can go on and on. Please spend more time with family and enjoy life.... your own not Vicks. There is this old saying, "what's done in the dark always come to the light". That goes for white, black, young, old, male and female. PLEASE PEOPLE LET IT GO.

Can we please move on past Mike Vick and these dogs?!!! I am personally tired of it. He fought the dogs, he made his time(way to much time for the crime) Let the man live his life. Some people are so petty. If PETA was so concerned about animals, why are these animal shelters still over croweded? If some of these PETA Bandwagons are so concerned about dogs, why don't they go adopt some dogs and worry about their own dogs. Please let's move on. Only in America where a animal's life is more valuable than a human's life.

I'm a animal lover. I had cats for 10 years, even when they were the cause of my asthma. But some of you really need to get a life. Yes what Vick did was bad. Really bad. But really, you are going to ask for a brain scan? How about asking for a brain scan for every person who ever commits any crime then? Would a brain scan be 100% accurate in telling the world if he was ok now? In short, NO. It would not. He has paid his debt to society. I'm no Vick fan either. But the guy is just trying to get his life back. Yes, it was his own fault he is dealing with this. But let him get on with his life and all you Vick haters out there, find something else to do.
Posted by: Animal Lover | July 31, 2009 07:55 AM
I think anyone doing this horrible thing to any kind of animal is really a very sick person. I will never watch a game with him in it, and possibly will give up football completely. The commissioner was so wrong in saying he could play.
I have to say they banned Pete Rose from the hall of fame, for his gambling, and he only hurt himself, not anyone or any animal. Why would the commissioner let Michael Vick back into football, when he killed animals, and also gambled. I think the commissioner needs a brain scan.

Up to 4% of the general population likely have some psychopathic disturbance, a further 1% display clinical narcissistic traits, and these fractions are likely to be higher in a ruthlessly competitive environment such as elite sport, which demands ruthlessness, self aggrandisement, cool temperament and a capacity for aggression.
It's of great benefit to raise the profile of psychopathy and narcissism generally.
Psychopathic and narcissistic people are cruel to animals, cruel to other people, dishonest, manipulative and fraudulent. They have played major roles in every man made crisis which has aflicted mankind, from the crusades to nazism to communism to the current credit crisis.
If Vick did prove psychopathic, he'd only be one of many in an elite sport league such as the NFL.
It's important the profile of psychopathy is raised on the back of this.

michael vick is a THUG!!!!!!!!!!
he doesn't deserve anything, except to die painfully the way he killed those innocent dogs.
peta member should demonstrate in front of which ever team take him at every game.
THUG, I HATE HIM WITH ALL MY HEART.
this comments board should hv the newest post at the very top, by the way.
Posted by: ann | August 5, 2009 02:44 AM
I think Vick deserves another change. This organization needs to worry about bigger things at the current moment. Individuals comments won't stop a 8 billion dollar company from justifying a single man's mistakes. He will play football and everyone will forget after a few seasons
Posted by: Taylor | August 5, 2009 04:18 AM
Ray Lewis killed a human being and is a starting player in the NFL.
Why heap hatred and revenge on Michael Vick? Surely we have better applications for society's resources than a brain scan determining whether this guy, who has already served his deserved time according to law, gets to wear tights and play a stupid game.
Posted by: Daniel | August 5, 2009 02:32 PM
There are men in the NFL and other professional sports that beat their wives, drink and drive and do drugs yet they get a 2nd and 3rd chance. Michael Vick deserves another chance as well. None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes and we all get 2nd chances.

This is for people who doesn't understand :
Why do we animal lover protest about michael vick's evil behavior?
It is because animal has NO VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can't tell the judge how much they have suffered from been abused by evil man like VICK THE THUG.
My dog had a sugery recently, she was under for 1 1/2 hrs, when I brought her home, she won't even let me TOUCH her for the first week for she was in such pain even though she had all kinds of medication to help her.
So, just TRY to imagine how much pain those innocent dogs have been though by VICK'S CRUEL BEHAVIOR.
In the wild, animal kill for food, but VICK KILL FOR FUN!!!!

A lot of you people are pathetic with the hate you are spewing. Some of you talk about wanting to do physical violence to him or take away his civil rights. What he did was reprehensible, but a lot of you are no better than he is.

hey i think that we should let vick play he has paid his det to society and should be left a lone. if it would have been an average joe all of the critics would have left it a lone before he even went to trial.he is human and should be allowed to live his life the way he wants to now and be left alone. besides who are we to judge any ways.

You people need to get a grip, so he was fighting dogs. I am a animal lover and what he did was very wrong, but the way you people are trying to tear his life apart is crazy. I never seen people get this mad before over dog fighting is it because he is a star and everyone wants to be heard now. I worked for Animal rescue in NYC and seen this over and over again and the people involved never even went to jail. He did his time, let him be. If any one of you ever did anything wrong you would want a second chance, so why not give him one. people that rape women and kids manage to get a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chance. Are we forgetting America is a free country, I would not submit to any scans or test, He still has rights or do you people want to take that from him too???
Posted by: marvin | August 10, 2009 05:43 AM

1. he has done his time in jail for it.
2. he has a right to play again, hell people in the nfl playing now have done worse things than he has.
3.yall need the brain scan, go get a life. whether yall want to admit it or nt , he still have alot of fans. we all know he messed up, but in the bible they do say earn to forgive. we will never forget but yall wantto punish him for life. while yall putting all your energies into 1 man, dogfighting is still goin strong soi suggest yall focus one the big problem at hand and stop wasting your time with one person.

What have we done behind closed doors or without anyone to judge us? We point the finger and label everyone. I grew up in a environment were dog-fighting is apart of everyday living. It sickens me to see dogfights. I am glad the laws are tougher. But most of us use these organizations as bias tools to say what they want and do what they feel. Enough is enough. Mike Vick did two years in prison. People in my neighborhood have done far more crimes than him. I see those derelicts everyday; still free to pollute society. He is the fall guy and he should have paid for his crimes. Its called justice. If you disagree, take it up with the government. Otherwise, leave him alone! All these comments make me wonder. What have we become? What example do we set? If i was going to want to join one or some of those organizations.. i would think first... what if i made a mistake?

This whole case just reinforces my thinking that too much attention and money are wasted on these a-holes that play with balls.... People wise-up do not support any team that hires this psycho.

I am a psych nurse in the Philadelphia area and have worked in the field since my graduation from nursing school 18 years ago. I have worked with adults, children, and adolescents and I can tell you it is possible for someone to be reformed, even the absolute worst cases; and don’t tell me I don’t what I’m talking about, I worked on the adult lockdown unit for 6 years and had convicted criminals to deal with. Furthermore using an MRI to diagnose deep rooted personalities is about as accurate a science as horoscopes. Point being, regardless of what a brain scan says, Michael Vick deserves a chance to prove he can be reformed. Besides, this man would have EVERYTHING to lose and NOTHING to gain if he ever even looked at an animal the wrong way again.
That being said, I believe it is unjust that Michael Vick can have a felony on his resume for such an inhumane, repulsive, and downright chilling crime and land a job with a $1.6 million salary. He should have to further pay his penance by having to work back up the ladder. It would prove his sincerity and be a better path to becoming reformed because he’d have to work with society to reclaim his reputation and wages instead of committing atrocities against it.
I feel that this is a reasonable compromise understanding that Michael Vick is still a human being and deserves a second chance to prove himself regardless of what an MRI says. If it were up to me he’d be serving a longer sentence in prison. I love animals to the point that I am a vegan simply based on the fact that I think it is unnecessary for someone of my social standing to kill an animal so that I can eat it. But Michael Vick served the sentenced time and should get a second chance if he proves he can handle it.

I vote no about Michael Vick in my opinion he should never be allowed to play in the NFL ever again. no no no vick

*Mr. Vick*, got sent to *club med* when he went to JAIL. What a stupid joke his punishment was. He needs to do a LOT of community time serving in the animal rehab-trauma centers caring for these traumatized animals that he enjoyed torturing. He needs to see the animals, feed them, hold them, mend them, hear their shrieks of pain morning noon and night. He also needs to PAY financially. Pay A LOT. He made a lot of dirty money with dog fighting, MAKE him pay it BACK. To H___ with the NFL and football and the winning team. THE MAN DOES NOT DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE. He is a liar and an abuser. He truely is a psychopath and enjoys pain to other living creatures who cannot defent themselves. He has a GREATER THAN GOD syndrome, free from the LAW because of who he thinks he is and his money. If any Joe Blow American were to do what he did, we'd be in jail, with fines we could not possibly pay. The *man* SHOULD be brought to his knees. Make him suffer what he did to the dogs. Electrocution, drowning, hanging, mauling. Our government has become limp as a wet noodle because our gov't has no balls to make the BAD GUY PAY. THe man is WRONG. So why is he allowed to *play ball*? I'm ashamed of my gov't and will support efforts to stop animal cruelty till I die. Let the a__ hole be booed right out of the ballpark. He's just another stupid jurk who beat the system. THanks for nothing justice system.

This is truly a sad day for the once proud fans of the Philadelphia eagles. In my forty plus years of Super Bowl disappointments and emotional roller coaster seasons, Jeff Lurie is willing to sell our pride and hope for something lower then a human being makes me embarrassed to wear Eagles green. I guess Jeff Lurie should now change the team name to the Philadelphia dog killers and let the world really know what kind of a person he is. Money, money, money is all that matters to the NFL.

This ahole Vick deserves a lethal injection, not "a second chance." ANY CIVILIZED SOCIETY would give him the same chance he gave those helpless animals. It's a shame the cultures and practices human beings exhibit the world over are as ignorant as Vick, including ours in the U.S. for not executing this prick. I've been to NFL games since Vick entered the league, therefore I funded dogfighting, nothing shy of a lethal injection would suffice, PERIOD. Animal abusers and child molesters are one in the same. It's a shame the overwhelming majority of the scum filled society the rest us are forced to live in fail to see this.

I am so disgusted that Michael Vick is being given another opportunity to play in the NFL and live a life of luxury after he tortured those poor animals. Sports stars are often role models for our countries youth, and is this the kind of person our children should be looking up to? The NFL must be insane. I understand that Mr Vick served time, but that doesn't mean he is a changed man. Lets keep in mind that Michael Vick didn't fight dogs for money, he fought dogs for pure entertainment. A man who has all of the resources in the world at his fingertips and he chooses to torture animals. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it. And yes, we may all have done things in the past we are ashamed of, but for most of us that doesn't include getting enjoyment from seeing living things suffer.

What hurts me is that Mr. Tony Dungy, once a person I held in the highest respect, was instrumental in peddling Vick's "remorse" to various NFL teams. How could Mr. Dungy not see that Vick was pulling a quarterback sneak and setting up Dungy to lose this game - and lose badly. Vick has had 2 years to diligently practice his "game of remorse" and it looks like he has sucked in NFL heavyweights like Mr. Dungy. Although I don't believe that Vick means a word of his remorse, I hope for the sake of Mr. Dungy's reputation that Vick doesn't embarrass him so early in his ministry.

Mistake??? No way. Vic's torturing of dogs was a premeditated horrible act.
Electrocuting, drowning, hanging and beating dogs is not a mistake. Car accidents,
having unprotected sex, getting into a fight because you're drunk or high, these are mistakes.
Could you yourself stand by and watch the torture Vic imposed on the dogs? Could you yourself torture?
Vic does not deserve anything, except the same things he did to the dogs.
Football is a huge money making machine and that's all they care about....Vic will make them money.

I hope they put vick in the wildcat Offense(pun intended) Mna I bet he still can pick up 500 rushing yards a season. I think Philly picked him up because mc nabb career is coming to an end with all those injuries he gets 5 mill next season so I think Mc Nabb be out soon.
I really hope he gets a big contract from them Philly is the reason he never even saw the super bowl. This works out for him cant beat them join them.
Im glad he did his time and can go back to the way it was. Honorable

vick should not be allowed to play for a while. but devote his time to the humane society and peta. go to schools and let the kids know it is wrong what he did. and we must love our pets. and he needs to go and seek help for what he did. he has shown no remorse for what he did.

All this rah rah about Michael Vick and dogfighting is getting out of hand. I will not dismiss the fact that what he did was wrong, however, the man has served his term and isn't it constitutional that he was proven guilty and did his time and should be afforded the same respect as others. Where are all the concerned persons when it comes to children being abused and killed, women being abused, battered and kill. We make all this hoopla about the animals, and rightly so because they don't know better. Come on people, there are persons who have committed more haneous crime and are being revered with Book and Movie Deals. Come on PETA, let's get over it and continue going after the folks who are out there and have not paid their debts to society.

An intelligent and considered approach, as always, PETA.
It's extraordinary how some people are still prepared to accept what this repeating liar has to say anyway. He reads scripted, sham 'apologies' written by his PR team, because HE has NOTHING to say from the heart. He doesn't understand what the fuss has been about! However, he's been told that reading 'apology' scripts, will replenish his pocket book and catarpult him back into idolatry. He understands that. Hey, this is easy - no contrition necessary!
What he did, wasn't the celebrity tantrum or immature mistake we constantly forgive, as a nation. He didn't WANT to get caught, and have to stop pulverizing, back breaking, electrocuting, drowning, removing the teeth from or gloating over dog rape. What mind could even imagine this sick stuff. Vick still has that mind. Worse - he acted out these atrocities. Psychological testing should surely be a minimum requirement for someone who wants so much money and glory from Americans and will be spending so much time with them in such a public position.

I wonder how many skeletons are in these haters closet. If you don;t forgive others God will not forgive you.

How many of you people have ever squished a bug, or fried an ant with a magnifying glass? Yet your all wishing hellfire & damnation on Vick?! That is beside the main points though. FIRST- Vick did the time for the crime. If you don't like it, lobby for more severe punishment in future cases, because there is no way you can throw Vick back into jail. SECOND- This bankrupt guy owes like $20 million because of what he has done. How else is he going to pay that off unless he plays a few years in the NFL? THIRD- Requiring Vick to have his brain scanned would be a serious violation of his rights. And if somehow you people did get that required, what's to keep it from being a requirement for us all? FOURTH and final- People who have great reputations like Tony Dungy and the majority of the Eagles team- have talked to Vick behind closed doors without Vick's written responses, and are convinced that he is truly remorseful.

Come on people. i agree that was cruel what he did to the animals. But even JESUS forgives. He went through or justice system and did everything he is supposed to do. A person that hates and keeps on hating is just as cruel. You have to truly forgive and wish the best for that person and let God judge him. now as far as a brain scanning I dont like that idea at all because its not 100% because people make choices everyday that can alter decidions in their lives. i think that what the court decides is what best for Vick and the way he handle himself through all of this shows me that he is not a monster. he is nothing but a man that made a bad decidion. Now to me the way people are acting around him with trying to use and destroy the man sounds like monsters. You know if you really wanted to stop dog fighting (in which i hope that you do) all you have to do is concentrate on the south. Most people there dont even hide it. Having Vick as a spokes person is great for the rich but it does not do anything for the poor. They can care less what Vick says. What we really need is more animal cops in rural areas. Now I am a Dog owner, I have a male boxer "briefs" and a female Pitbull "bella".Two of the most beautiful, gentle dog ever created and I would never put them in harms way. And i am saying to I wish the best for Micheal Vick and his career. i am glad that the NFL let him back in and i prey for prosperity for his life.

Yes God does forgive and that’s why we don’t have too. Michael Vick would still be fighting, shooting, drowning, electrocuting, body slamming the very animals he owned. He didn’t have a revelation on how cruel he is, was to his own animals. Like any other criminal he got caught. He is not remorseful for the cruelty he inflected on dog and dog after dog. If he had of been the first kill would have been the last. He is remorseful because this has ruined him. I believe it is the NFL that needs the brain scan for even considering to let him come back.
I hope Michael Vicks never has a child who brings home a bad report card, or maybe gets pinned at wrestling competition, since he only equates value with performance. And folks that is what you see Michael Vicks doing now and what he does best, this is just another one of his performances.

OMG people, get over it! If people can commit murder, do their time, get paroled and then reenter society - why can't Vick?
Posted by: Dan | September 3, 2009 10:39 AM
He went to prison for his crime,so he has paid his do.The man isn't an angle, but then again none of us are.He needs to work,so he can support himself.Second chance, They should have tested him while in prison. I believe it's alittle to late at this point.

wow..everyone makes mistakes yo..yeah this was very very bad and ill never forget but damn ya act like ya have never done anything wrong..just let it go and stop worrying about the past all the time..its the present.lets focuse on the future.that whats wrong with the world now..i mean as christans we are to forgive..as of what jesus said.so forgive him and shutup about it already~

vick should stay in the nfl he know what he did was bad but i think he can improve his attuide be kind give him a second chance
Posted by: Andy Carmichael | September 9, 2009 07:22 PM
Come on guys. I would hate to think that you have to pass a psychological test to be allowed to get a job after you've served time. Why should Vick be treated as a special case and have to have his brain scanned? I think this is just ridiculous. I already think that Vick has been judged and convicted harsher than any other lower profile thug that runs a dog fighting ring. You have guys in the NFL like Ray Lewis and Dante Stallworth who have killed HUMAN BEINGS for crying out loud. Maybe PETA should be petitioning the NFL to fire these guys....human beings, after all, are animals.

Micheal vick is an outstandind and very talented quarterback to ever come to the NFL he's paid his debt now let him get on with his life you all point the finger at him well the next time you do that just remember you have three more pointed right back at you.

Once a THUG always a THUG!!!! Leopards do not change their spots. Hope he goes back to prison, where he belongs. Scumbag, dirt ball. Eagles are just as bad. Lose every game!!

the NFL is only interested in their arrogance and pride. I am glad Vick is losing, little taste of what he did to the animals...

I agree mike vick has a problem, to me he is no different than a serial killer and mass murderer. Though shall not kill. Yes he needs to be tested.

Shame on the NFL for allowing Mike Vick to ever play football again. He is definatly a piss poor example of a man. I beleive an eye for an eye. He should have been hung up beside the losing dog and eaten alive too. I will never excuse his behavior. MURDER you give pit bull owners and the NFL a bad name. I'll be at any game he plays in denver with 50 friends with signs to berate him. What a f&*^ing loser. Shame on the NFL your just as guilty as he is.
