PETA's 'Fashion Police' Bust Leather Offenders

PETA's sexy "fashion police" are on patrol again. Last week, they took their beat to the street - in New Haven and Providence, handing out citations to leather-wearers for "violating common decency." For some reason, every "offender" loved being "detained." In fact, this is pretty much what happened every time:

Fashion Cop: No more leather, promise? Passerby, hanging head in shame: OK.

Of course, looking at photos of our cops, I have to say—they look like they mean business! I wouldn't want to argue with them, either.

And, if you're looking for some pleather boots as awesome as those (I know I am!), we have a few cruelty-free suggestions for your consideration.

This looks like a good approach to educating people about the consequences of wearing leather. I hope your fashion police are not accosting people, but rather, using a good-humored and friendly approach to let people know leather is not cool. A lot of people simply don't know, and need opportunities to learn. Being aggressive and unpleasant turns people off, and may turn them away from the PETA message. Keep up the good stuff! LOL

This is great, but i'm forced to wear leather everyday

i think Peta should try adressing things like school uniforms which involve wearing leather school shoes, which most students find absolutely disgusting (while others are merely ignorant)

i have to wear leather shoes to school everyday and i don't know where to get imitation leather shoes in Australia and it's really upsetting when you see someone eating meat and you tell them that's disgusting and they point out you are wearing a cow on your feet.

Endless.com should definitely be added to the list of "cruelty-free suggestions. You can actually search their stock of shoes and bags with a "vegetarian" option. They have tons of great shoes and their service and policies are the best out there.

Let me say this: I have no reserves about wearing leather. That's right: I WEAR leather, and I THOROUGHLY enjoy it! Now that I got that out of the way, let me begin to speak my opinion:
First, do you know what pleather is made of? PVC, polyvinyl chloride, and polyurethane. Both are toxic to the environment, and producing a pound of pleather is about the same as burning a gallon of gas, releasing 3.7 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Another thing: leather is an extremely important worldwide industry, more that rubber, cotton, coffee, tea, rice, and sugar! It's even more than meat products (and yes, I do happen to consume meat!).
If you eliminate the leather industry, our falling economy will fall even more.
And if any of you extremists have read the Good Book, the Bible, it says that God gave humans dominion over animals. The first clothes were made by God of animal skin, given to Adam and Eve after their banishment.

Would you go protest in the forest when a wolf kills a rabbit?
