Donna Karan Dumps Fur!

Donna Karan, the target of one of our campaigns, has announced that her fall 2009 lines will be fur-free and that she has "no plans" to use fur in the future!
|
PETA is now calling on activists and supporters to put the brakes on our "Donna Karan: Bunny Butcher" antics, which have included protesting outside her boutiques, crashing her runway show, and exposing her cruel use of fur online. This is a win for the real fashion victims—animals, who are routinely skinned alive for their pelts—and will allow us all to focus on Armani and other targets while keeping an eye on Donna Karan's 2010 collection.
Karan's announcement came days after PETA launched our (now offline) DonnaKaranBunnyButcher.com Web site and after mega–fashion guru Tim Gunn sent Karan and designer Giorgio Armani a video that he narrated for PETA showing animals skinned alive for their fur and urged them to open their eyes to the violent and bloody fur industry.
While Donna Karan has followed in the footsteps of top designers—including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein—Armani still refuses to stop using fur. Armani claims that he "only" uses fur from rabbits who are butchered for meat. We hope that you will take this opportunity to contact Armani to tell him that while the meat of gentle rabbits killed for their fur in China is sold to be eaten, the suffering that they endure is exactly the same. Point out that the cruelty depicted in this video on fur farms in both China and France show animals who are killed for both fur and meat.
If you're under the age of 21, please send a message to Armani through our youth campaign site, peta2.com.

I don't trust her. She Donna Karen sign this oath in blood. She already spilled enough innocent bloods. I really don't trust her.

I still do not plan to buy her line. She has vowed not to use fur how many times now? She is only changing her mind due to pressure it seems, not because of compassion. As far as Armani not even interested in his line overpriced and made in sweatshops.

All hands in the air!!! It's about bloody time, Donna!!! Amounting pressure and Peta's relentless pursuit, pats on the back to all!! Ar-not-so-mani just needs their own personalized web site now!!
Posted by: Carla | December 22, 2008 11:18 AM
Its about time... Although it should be against the law to kill an animal for its fur. What the hell is wrong with the world? Why carnt we respect life?
Posted by: Colette | December 22, 2008 11:35 AM
You shouldn't have taken the website down, that seems pretty insincere. Either Karan the bunny butcher sees the light or she doesn't, either she accepts animal rights activism at face value or she doesn't. There is no middle ground.
Posted by: vegankoin | December 22, 2008 11:37 AM
I agree, she promised not to use fur before and more likely she will do the same again after everything clears out. Hopefully she keeps her word. It's true, pinocchio armani needs his own website now. donnakaranbunnybutcher.com should have still been kept, just in case. Well, at least i am happy and all animal lovers the fact that at least a few bunnies will be saved from getting killed. It hurts me having to see a bunny get killed because I raised one little one when I was away on vacation, he would just stare at me. I watched his little eyes grow big by the day.
PETA: Please do something big about Chinese fur farms, it seriously annoys me when i hear about what does fuckers do to innocent animals. Try something big. The least thing I can do is leave booklets on chinese fur farms i received from HSUS in the trains.

This is great news, though I hope she stays fur-free. Her track record of promising to stop using fur isn't very promising, but maybe she finally got a heart and respects animals. I don't really trust her also, but let's keep our fingers crossed, and hope that Armani will soon follow.

I will only trust her after at least 1 fashion year has passed fur-free, but still be watching!

Let's hope that someone like DKNY evolves into a humane soul and avoids sins like cruelly killing living beings for profit. If she does keep her word, congratulations and I'll restart buying her products.
Posted by: Isabelle | December 22, 2008 12:11 PM
I can now shop her line which I find fashionable and affordable. However, I will keep an eye on her...
Posted by: NT | December 22, 2008 12:31 PM
yeah, i hope she's serious this time. she caves into the public's pressure a lot. she may just be doing this since it's around the holidays...
Posted by: Adam Fisher | December 22, 2008 12:43 PM
awesome,
now onto ARMANI!
Posted by: espo | December 22, 2008 01:12 PM
Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY happy that she's not using fur, but it seems to me this has become a trend.... Have you noticed it's the "cool" thing not to wear fur now?....
I mean really, these clebrities are only doing it to follow the trend...It's not in style to wear fur but that hasn't stopped them from wearing leather... They won't wear fur but they have no problem wearing those leather boots or toting a leather purse around town....
Great job forcing the "ban fur" PETA, now go after the leather too!!
Posted by: Star808 | December 22, 2008 01:28 PM
well maybe she has come to her senses that the majority of people wont wear and despise the wearing of animal fur ,, are we cavemen ???? its just so tacky

It's a good thing PETA's going to keep an eye on Ms. Karan. She better keep her promise.
Posted by: Cayce | December 22, 2008 02:30 PM
Well, that's good news that she doesn't have any plans to use fur anymore...hopefully! we all need to keep a close eye on her though...as for Armani...I've started a petition on the care2 website to send off to him...so everyone get signing! I love rabbits so much and for them to be cruely slaughtered in the name of fashion is absolutely disgusting.
Posted by: Melanie Driver | December 22, 2008 02:40 PM
PETA, can you have Donna Karen sign this oath in blood? I don't trust her and I won't buy until she renounce the cruelty.
Posted by: roxanne | December 22, 2008 02:41 PM
3 words:
Made-My-Christmas!
Not to mention so many bunnies! Truly a great early present, perhaps the best I will receive. Keep an eye on her PETA, though she has said this, like many others here I don't trust her. Great job and happy holidays. =]
Posted by: anon | December 22, 2008 03:09 PM
I don't trust her. This isn't the first time she's vowed not to use fur in her line. She's only stopping now because of all the e-mails and all the protesting being done, not because she wants to save innocent animals lives.
Posted by: Tiffany | December 22, 2008 03:12 PM
incredible how the people stile bying this clothes.. if we stop buying, big companies brokes..
Posted by: Denisse P | December 22, 2008 03:12 PM
Please stop using animals for your business. Animals are part of our world.
Posted by: Letty | December 22, 2008 03:37 PM
Let's see how long this "promise" lasts. I don't trust her either. She's said this before and gone right back to it.
Posted by: Stephanie | December 22, 2008 04:34 PM
I think possibly this time she means it.. and if she does.. I really have to say.. DK .. it really is or will be the best decision you've made or will ever make .. now.. let's hope you KEEP YOUR WORD!! and super kudos to you if you do .. esp on behalf of animals/rabbits used, caged up all their lives then killed horribly for their skins and furs !!
Posted by: lisa | December 22, 2008 05:44 PM
No, I can't just trust this, either. Really.
She needs to go further. If she really has a change of heart and decision not to use fur, then she should sign a statement of determination listing consequences if she uses fur again.
If she acknowledges the suffering and has actually changed to the decision to not use fur, then I'd like to see her sign onto it promising that if she goes back to using fur, she will legally pay Peta x amount of dollars.
This will both assure the public of her decision and will also help her keep the decision.
It should also of course include acknowledgment of the terrible suffering in the fur industry and a statement that she was wrong to cause that and that such an atrocity is evil, listing her reasons why.
Peta, I think you should call on her to reassure the public, who are concerned about this, and to take these steps, and then we can be pleased with her and hold her up as a good example. But if she will not, that says what we expect, that this is likely a con or something that won't last.

STOP killing innocent animals for their fur!!!!
Sheer greed prompts the killing of innocent animals to adorn the self centered, egotistical women that wear designer labels.
All creatures have a right to life. They were not put on this earth to line your pockets!!!!
Have compassion for them!!!
Posted by: FMD | December 22, 2008 07:28 PM
Muchas gracias!!!!

Once a murderer, alway a murderer. So ofc ppl wake up! She ain't ever gonna stop killing friendly creatures. Sorry to say it folk, don't trust a bitch.

Lets hope she keeps her promise this time!!! I seriously doubt she will!!!!
Posted by: Brittany | December 22, 2008 11:13 PM
Like most here, I think DK's motives are suspect but at least some animals in 2009 will be spared. For that I'm grateful to her.
But her track record of broken promises makes me wary to purchase her products until there's evidence that she's sincere in having no plans to use fur in the future.
Posted by: lynda downie | December 22, 2008 11:37 PM
Yeah I agree with those other people..
I dont quite trust her at all.& even if she does keep her word,I know that inside, she isn't keeping it for the right reasons.
Donna Karan has no heart,whatsoever.
If it wasnt for the constant protests, campaigns,& emails, then it wouldnt have even CROSSED HER MIND to stop killing animals.
Those heartbreaking videos on donnakaranbunnybutcher.com made me cry [so many] tears.
Peta, you really should have kept it on there.
Anyway;
As for Armani...Hes Next >:)

well im glad but now-days peta has gone a little 2 far. Nude people. How about pictures, huge tv screens that show under cover footage but really. Nudity?

Mind you, she only said no fur in 2009. We should keep an eye on her.

This has to be the best Christmas present to top off the year.
It just goes to show, once again, we really can make a difference!
Posted by: Fawn | December 23, 2008 05:22 AM
Like the first comment (Roxanne) and many others, I don't trust her. Anyway, she has promised before and gone back on her promise. This time she's only saying "no plans" - so that's a maybe.
'Stoptorture' has written most of what I was going to. She needs to sign a legally-binding statement that she won't ever use real fur again and, if she renagues on her promise this time, she will pay $xxx to PETA. How about a generous donation now, as some sort of gesture that she means it this time?
Vegan wishes,

Um, isn't it obvious to anyone but me that it's very easy to promise not to make fur a part of your line when designing a SPRING LINE? Her winder line is done being made and now she makes this promise as she's coming up with concepts for spring and summer. Very sneaky. I bet by next fall she'll start using fur again.
Posted by: Anita50882 | December 23, 2008 08:11 AM
Didn't she promise once before to stop using fur? I wouldn't believe a word she says because she has proven herself to be a liar.

hi! I'm a spanish girl. I'm thirteen yeras old ;). I don' t speak english very well, so is much probability this will not writted correctly. I don´t believe that actual dessigners, these exactly, wont use fur for their clothes in the future. People only mind to sell a lot of products, to 'win' money. I don't like cruelty people: most chinese people do bad things to innocent animals..
Good job PETA! ;)

those people like Donna Karan shouldnt even be called humans at all, its not fair to take away some other living creature just for fashion or any other matter.animals just dont deserve to be threated with such attrocities, it really makes me mad just the fact that discusting people like karan or armani use animals as if they were simple things with no feelings, just bc they cant speak for themselves doesnt mean they are not alive,or breath or FEEL!!. hope u keep your promise donna!

DK...not knowing can be 'a kind of' excuse...but once aware there is no excuse...I really hope you are sincere in your promise and in this case, well done; it's never easy changing old ways, but, and however small this gesture may seem, you with the other designers, are helping change our world for the better.
And YOU know... that all these bits of added fluff, if you really must consider them necessary at all, don't even have to be.. real fur; and in absolutely no case can ever justify such outrageous cruelty and suffering to a living creature. Stick to your promise...please. Let your heart's good sense and kindness guide...you'll also see, it'll be a very special feeling for you.

This is an extremely good piece of news to begin the new year with. However, I find that many of us who respect life in all its forms are skeptical. Is there a way we can keep a check on Karan? At the same time, can we also have a webpage to let her know through our comments that we are happy with her decision - list out how she has helped a humane cause and shown respect for life? The idea is to appeal to her softer, unselfish, and humane side.

i am very impressed about peta s work.Is good to know that someone is still on this earth who care what this bad people doing to animals
About Donna Karan: i think she wont give up to fur because she care just about money ,also armani! She do that because of all this pressure! well at the end i think peta you were very sucesfull this year

fuck you armani and donna!!!!
Posted by: GEORGE CONSTANTINOPOULOS | December 24, 2008 08:11 PM
I really cannot trust Donna Karan. If she said "no plans" that means she'll continuously use and sell furs. She's just like Giorgio Armani. Breaking promises to PETA. Like last year how Armani promised PETA not to use rabbit furs or any type of animal furs for his clothing line. Then guess what? He broke the promise and kill more rabbits everyday for children's outerwear. But that's just my thought. We'll see how her clothing line comes out in upcoming spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

It hurts me deeply to see JAPS and other so called People make Money off
Of Innocent animals
They are like little children so helpless and sweet.
They ask for a little food
And attention which isn't much. And in return we have There love and friendship.
God new what he was doing
In creating something so special for us to enjoy in our lives Here on this earth.
God Bless our special friends
We will see them in Heaven
When our time comes.
Merry Christmas Too All!

It makes me so sick to see people be so cruel and cold hearted to hurt such beautiful animals of all kind to make a buck,a cold hearted buck.I rather not have a fur coat or fur rug for some people they think yhere rich because they can own one,but a rich person to me is a person with a heart of gold willing to help animals and and not make them suffer for money. You ca be an amazing desighner with out such crult. How do they sleep at night because i cant just knowing how many animals are suffering out there. So PLEASE peaple have a heart and change for animals sake.!!!!
Posted by: Maria | December 26, 2008 09:46 AM

Posted by: Stacey | December 27, 2008 05:38 PM
Donna K has renounced the use of fur before. She is fully aware of the cruelty involved in the fur industry. She collapsed to the pressures of the fashion industry to use fur in her designs. There are many synthetic fur materials that have a great look and feel she could have substituted. She is now just bowing to our pressure not to use fur. It is easy to say you agree with what is popular. Her lines should still be boycotted!
Posted by: Erin Phara | December 27, 2008 10:26 PM
Im glad they hid the camera to show how rabbits were being slaughtered..honestly!thats just plain sick! It's gross to know that people even famous clothing lines use animals for their clothing...its just unnecssary to use animals and it shows how alot of people dont care about anything or some things in life..
and alot of it is just for money

Bunny butcher Donna Karan is not sincere, just wants Peta as far away from her fashion shows, offices, & doorsteps of her home as possible. Keep a close watch & don't totally do away with her bunny butcher campain ads & posters just yet. I think they'll come in handy again, right after she thinks Peta forgot about her bad fur habit & she starts selling it all over again.

I cannot believe a woman with children could bear them to find out what she is doing,we know PEOPLE like her DO NOT LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD but one can only hope and pray that she will LOOK DEEP and realise SHE HAS ENOUGH , she does not have to be a BIG part in this world of CRULITY.

It's so so so disgusting knowing ppl use fur for fashion ?? Hw dumb are you there's other ways 2 have nice clothing or look good with out using an animal who has no voice 2 say no or that hurts. It's only common sense if you ask me think of it as your family out there being skinned alive 4 their flesh or simply food ! That's how I look at it no 1 no matter who you are would like 2 see a love one being killed 4 fur leather etc no1 . So think twice before using fur in clothing lines or you as the customer using it. I plan on being a fashion designer but I know there's other ways 2 make ppl buy my product without using an animal. So peta please try 2 get more word out there obviously this world needs a wake up call

I cannot believe that any sensitive human being can accept this torture for any reason, let alone to manufacture clothes. Donna Karan, like many, is a monstre. Good work Peta. All the best for 2009
Posted by: Mona Khoury | December 31, 2008 04:22 AM
I know that DK has taken quite a 'wringing' here for using rabbit fur.. but in all honesty if you think DK is bad for using rabbit fur.. the OTHER designers are far by WORST by a long shot mile.. at least DK compromised in a half hearted way by not using ohter animals fur even tho' rabbit fur is pretty bad or just as bad.. and so far we believe she will keep her word. no.. more.. fur.. right now if peta could target all those other horror designers even WORST than DK.. such as fendi, gaultier, escada.. they are SHAMEFUL as human beings.. actually the worst of human kind.. because they insist on using real fur it would be or is literally the same as if they inflicted the suffering and killings and live skinning of thousands these animals with their own bare hands.. these people have abundance of the uglier side of human nature .. and lack basic kindness..

happy new year folks.
hey you shouldn't really say stuff like : fu**er, bitch, she has no heart, devil, fu**ing, fu** you, burn in hell, shame on you, monster, those ppl like donna shouldn't really even be called humans at all, etc. cos donna isn't really a devil, monster, fu**er, etc. she's absolutely human like us.
of course you have the right to say anything you like yes, but i wouldn't say that sort of thing to ppl like donna.
are you a vegan? yes? then have you ever thought about caterpillers who are being killed in agriculture? i am a vegan, but i need to eat veggies to survive. maybe countless caterpillers are being killed when they pick up veggies by rinsing them off from the veggies, with pesticides or by other means(sometimes by scalding them to death?)
if you guys call donna a "fu**er", then i'm also a fu**er. caterpillers feel pain too.
and if she really will keep the promise...just wait and see.

i'll tell you:
they sleep at night quite peacefully!!
don't get me wrong, i hate animal abuse and have been working very very hard for animals.

I'm so happy to read this. :)
We've sent a man to the moon, I think...I THINK...we can stop killing animals and resort to just making faux fur, which is not only more durable comapared to real fur, its also warmer and can be made to be much softer and more comfortable. But honestly, I'd never even wear faux fur, I don't want to show people fur at all, because I doubt some people would be so noble as to say "whoa I love her coat!! but I want to buy faux fur, I can't wear real fur!! those poor animals!!" etc.

I would just like to say via your message board, a thank you to Donna Karan for finally seeing the light, and I hope that she continues to keep to her pledge not to use fur for 2009 or in any future collections. Each time a high-profile designer makes this decision, surely it makes another fur-using designer stop and think about the implications of what they are doing ? PETA has proved that a steady drip-feed of pressure brings the best results, and we have to make sure that the campaign continues until everyone who creates and wears designer fashion comes to their senses and makes the right choice.

What worries me as much as this is knowing that a lot of fur sold as 'fake' is in actual fact real. My friend bought a coat with a 'fake fur' trim and on inspection we found it to be real, only by parting the 'fur' and finding it attached to the skin could we tell it was real. I hear most of the 'fake fur' trims etc. and childrens furry toys that come from China are in fact a lot of the time not fake at all.

I think it's amazing that because of PETA's efforts Donna Karan has now too decided to stop using fur. I think it's very important to prove to Armani that if he stops using rabbit fur, less rabbits will die/suffer. Because it seems to me like he thinks the fur is a left-over product from the rabbits that are killed for their meat and he, by using the fur, doesn't add to their suffering. Needless to say it's horrible that he uses the fur; even if it doesn't add to the killing/suffering of rabbits, it doesn't object to it either. If there would be a way to put a direct link between Armani's use of fur and an increase in rabbit suffering/killing, it would be a very strong and persuasive argument (on top of the fact that Armani should be objecting to the suffering of rabbits in the first place). Right now I can imagine that he's thinking his use of fur is exactly the same as using leather and I don't know a single big designer who doesn't use leather.

Finally!
I removed all of her lines from all 8 of out multi-million dollar establishments,
Sent countless nasty emails to her office regarding the issues, and though she gave in, I have no plans to re-stock any of her lines, without her proving fur is gone for good. Maybe in three years I'll revisit the issue, but for now, GO PETA!

I dont think she will stick with it.. she will go back to fur. i hope not it looks gross..Star808 i have to say that there will always be leather.. im sorry to say that but the world will never be 100% vegitarian/vegan.. i can admit i eat meat. but i will choose vegitarin meals if avaiable and that are good. But i hav etried vegitarin for 8 months it was had but i did it.. I do plan to go vegitarian again when im ready to do it.. i rushed into it once and it didnt work.. so all i say is if you want to go vegan or vegitarian be readly when your ready and commited..

Enough about Donna, Let's get that bastard Armani and skin him alive see how he likes it!
Posted by: Missy Lefler | January 14, 2009 09:53 AM
I agree, we have heard enough about Donna. Although she tells us she will be fur free you can never trust them until you know that they will stuck to it. We think that she is fur free at the moment, give it time i believe she will cave in. I hope that she wont. For now we need to get Armani. He needs to see that we arent kidding around when we tell him about the animals tourtured for their prophet. We should skin him. Or better yet take him to a slaughter house and make him go through everything that he put the animals through.
Yours truely,
Ali Saley, Minnesota =]

why in the hell would u do tht
to a poor little animal i cant
believe u
its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
wrong to hurt a helpless little animal
Posted by: kaitlynn | February 1, 2009 05:55 PM
I dont think that theyll really stop making donnas clothing out of animal fur because she and her manufracters can lie and say that they did and their clothing isnt made out of animal fur but it is.and skinning a helpless animal is cruel and mean.and the animal cant defend its self when they grab it and take the knife to its skin.and i know u people all care about it but you cant just care you have to do something about it
we need to protest and stop animal cruelty because donnas not the only one doing this to helpless animals its all around the world.and thats why we need to stop now and forever.
Posted by: kaitlynn | February 1, 2009 06:10 PM
I don't understand how some people can kill innocent animals for their fur. This practice should be stopped permanently all over the world.
Posted by: yixhing | February 4, 2009 01:19 PM
DK is only bending to the pressure and probably because the trend this next fashion year is not as fur-focused. It has nothing to do with compassion when it comes to her. If it didn she would not have gone back on her 'word' (which means nothing) and started using fur again. She's a monster.
Posted by: Julia | February 5, 2009 11:56 PM
Thank you Donna for stopping the use of Fur in or on any of your products. I use to love you till I heard you used fur, then I bad mouthed you for years, Now I can LOVE you again. For having the heart to let the animals have theirs! Thank you

Okay how shallow is this????? Some people have no life whatsoever... whoever thinks this is cool is honestly really stupid!!!! What kind of a person in their rightful mind would torture a poor animal just for a stupid coat.... buy a fake one cuz FYI people really DONT care!!!!!

I only hhave one word to say to Donna Cruella Devil Kara: BICTH!!!!!!!!
I hope you spend your vacations on Crystal Lake and get your head cut off by the Evil Jason Vorhees....That´s if He doesn´t fall in love with you in first place, Ugly Psicobicth!!!....ja,ja,ja

I can't stand fur. It's mean to the animals and makes whoever is wearing it look 20 pounds larger. And who says that an animal should have to die so somebody can make a profit from it?? Whoever skins animals alive should shot themselfs in the foot. Like it's so stupid.

I will never again buy from any company that sells anything to do with animals, leather, fur, testing, whatever. Donna Karan has already shown she is devoid of heart. Why make her richer? These other misogynist speciesists are all hateful heartless biorobots in my view. I really don't understand why people support them at all. The fashion industry is the ugliest industry out there other than the "farming" industry. Personally I don't buy anything that's advertised, period. I figure if it's good for you and everyone else involved, you'll hear about it soon enough, right? Word of mouth. If you have to create an ad for it it's probably not something that is any good anyway. How many adverts for broccoli do you see? Right? But Big Macs? See? The whole marketing industry stinks. All superficial image crap that is designed to mislead people. Karan is a product of her image makers. She has no remorse for her cruel treatment of these gentle loving creatures, 3 of which are at my feet as we speak. I wouldn't believe a word I read regarding any of these fashion whores. Their ethics have been in question from the start. Wanna look good? Try love on for size. Nothing looks better on a woman than real pure true love. And love doesn't wear cruelty.

The picture on the Kitten Chow box is just another reminder of why we shouldn't be hurting cuddly creatures for their fur. Except for DNA, I couldn't picture a more beautiful image of mother and baby.

Does she or doesn't she kill animals for fur fashion????
I never wore fur, I never thought it was pretty on humans.

Hi All,
I just saw Fur Wrist Bands on STYLE.COM as one of the 'pick of the week' items last month. Pls ask them not to propogate dead fashion on a site thats well respected in the fashion student community as a reliable source for fashion news/trends and updates. ive sen them my feedback - Can this be another campaign we take up???

Why doesn't everyone stop spending money on designer clothing and donate the money they would have spent to animal shelters and saving animals?
Posted by: Victoria | February 20, 2009 01:02 PM
Wouldn't trust and of the deigners who say they won't use fur speciallt her. They don't think about the suffering all these poor animals go through, they just think ££££££ they are as bad as bad as the bastards that kill these poor animals.I have been a supporter 4 many years as others and would love the chance to do the same 2 these bastards as they do 2 these poor animals.

i personally think that the video of animals skinned alive should be televised around the world, i just dont understand why this isnt happening, we have all manner of "trivia" on tv, but apparently the suffering of animals only gets tv time if it doesnt offend peoples delicate stomachs too much!! peta should also send the video to ALL fur wearing celebtrities....shame on them!!

The damage is done. I'm never buying DK.
Posted by: Chester | March 7, 2009 01:08 AM
Killer Karen obviously has lots of accomplices in her war on rabbits. Lots of dum b chicks out there who acquaint callousness with fashion. Non-fur wearers need to be very outspoken on this. Never mind hurting fur wearer's feelings; these animals are hurting much more!
Posted by: Jean Le Marquand | March 10, 2009 10:58 AM
Before coming on PETA's site today I never really knew why PETA made such big deals about animals. As I watched the video I began to cry in shock and fear as If I were in those animals shoes, I cried wondering why people will do such fucked up things to animals just to look cute. I can't imagine my 3yr old god sister watching that video about what the people from China do to the animals. I gaurantee she'll cry like hell and say "nooo, don't die the kittys!". I'm 19yrs old and a new designer, I'll do more research and MAKE IT SURE that any fur and other fabrics in my future collections are fake and nothing else. What a fucked up world we live in :-( , we surely wouldn't want canables steping on our heads and slitting our skins alive so why do it to animals who haven't done anything to us!
Posted by: LoverOFfasion | March 14, 2009 05:04 AM
AMAZING news! THANK YOU PETA. Hopefully Armani & others will soon boycott fur as well! I'll never understand how industries like the fur & leather industries, etc are LEGAL in this day in age! HOW?! Everyone involved in these industries should be arrested & thrown in jail for the pain & suffering & killing they cause.
On another note, it would be really nice if people would tone down the swearing & death threats! People like DK make me crazy too, but there are 12 yr olds visiting this page. It would be a shame if their parents banned them from PETA websites because of people making violent/inappropriate comments

Perhaps Donna has developed insight on this important issue and she is genuine in her decision? Please have compassion for her just as you wish such compassion for the rabbits. May you have gratitude and trust.

Ms. Karen, do you not have enough money? How many animals must die to support your fashion? It's aomehing to consider.
Posted by: Mary Poole | July 5, 2009 11:41 PM
I just looked at Donna Karen's collection on Style.com...I'm confused. Is she using FAKE fur?? She has fur sleeves everywhere in the collection.
Posted by: Wendy | August 20, 2009 11:07 AM
I agree with you guys...especially you, luvsp. People like Armani and Donna Karan can sleep well at night while everyone else is too busy caring. I will never buy fur of any kind!
