Racism, slaughter, skinning … this video has it all—all things inhumane and barbaric, that is.

In a shocking new video released by our pals across the pond at PETA Europe, some bear-skinners recently got their five minutes of fame when, unbeknownst to them, they were videotaped cutting the skin off a black bear and spitting out racial slurs that will have their own mothers dodging their phone calls this holiday season.

You can view this footage below, but please be forewarned: The images and language are graphic.

These pin-head hunters sell bear hides at the very same auction where the British Ministry of Defense buys furs to make the Queen's Guards' caps. Now, you might think that the Queen is simply unaware of the cruelty sewn into each cap, but that's hogwash. PETA Europe has joined forces with top British celebs such as Ricky Gervais and Lucy Davis about this issue. Even Pink has gotten into the mix, sending the Queen a letter expressing outrage over her support for the slaughter of Canadian black bears.

There is no excuse for racism and there is no excuse for the Queen to support the killing of black bears for their fur. The Ministry of Defense needs to stop dragging its heels and make the switch to faux. Until the change is made, the Queen's Guards' caps will be symbols of cruelty at its worst. One way to help is to send a message to Canada's Prime Minster and demand that he ban the practice of bear-baiting.

This is barbaric. Both the racism and the animal abuse.

Ultra-disgusting, what a horrible video. That is obscene.

it is true, people who don't care about animals don't care about people. there is no degrees of compassion. You are either a compassionate person or not. I tired of stupid people who say that because I care about animals that I don't care about people. in fact I care about all. i don't have a switch that turn off my compassionate and feelings for different species or different races. The Queen should be a shame of herself. Maybe the monarchy should be thrown out.

I can't believe the horror. We must put a stop to this. Animals have feelings. If I were there these guys would be in trouble.

I really hope theres a mighty judgement coming and they will burn in the fires of hell for eternity.

That's a horrible video, but don't you think the logic behind "racism and skinning go hand-in-hand" is a little flawed? By that logic, so do vegetarianism and Nazism because Hitler was veg...I'm just saying, because flawed logic and generalizations like this make all of PETA's valid arguments look suspect.

i am so glad this has brought more attention to this cruel act!! i am sorry that so many bears will and have lost their lives to make the guards hats. i was glad when the queen was here to visit in america and PETA followed her everywhere. especially when she went to the kentucky derby. but really i do not think that she has a heart under her thick skin! jessica this is a blog after all and everyone has the right to voice their opinions and PETA is very radical that is what gets the point across. i do not think that if they did things lightly PETA would not have gotten all the results they have along with all of the members without what you called flawed logic. i call it amazing!!

Jessica,

I understand the point you are trying to make, but, in actuality, the often repeated statement that Hitler was a vegetarian is a myth. It began as a bit of propaganda in a published newspaper report by the Nazis during WWII. The truth is that he couldn't stop eating his beloved pork sausages- amongst other things. You can read about this, as I did, in Karen Dawn's WONDERFUL new book, "Thanking the Monkey: Rethinking the Way We Treat Animals."

As for the Queen-

Why does she not understand that nothing happens in a vacuum. Supporting animal cruelty is not only barbaric to animals, but it also supports a host of other commercial endeavors all designed to supply her with furs for her Guards' hats. It is a self-perpetuating cycle that only continues the inexcusable cruelty, adds to the destruction of the environment, and, in this instance, even supports racism. Your Majesty, please explain to me what is "majestic" about that?

I don't care if it's a fox, a bear or any other animal, but skinning of the fur is a horibble act of satan. The day received an e-mail from a friend, I couldn't believe it what I saw earlier that day on the video link. That same afternoon I came back from work and looked at my beautiful Husky. Believe me I can't imagine that anyone want to hurt any of these animals. I tried to imagine what my Husky would look like without fur. That wasn't very intelegent.

At the moment I am running a petition on www.mypetition.co.za

If I do recall correctly , Denmark's royal guard wears similar bear fur hats. I would never promote fur , but wouldn't it be at least somewhat better to use fur from aboriginal hunters , who at least respect the life they take and use every part of the body instead of rednecks trying to make a buck?
