Maggie Gyllenhaal's Fur Coat Causes Blog Explosions

On Tuesday, green gossip blog ecorazzi posted a photo of Maggie Gyllenhaal wearing, as they said, "what looks to be an entire forest of animals." Tee hee, ecorazzi!
But after some detective work, ecorazzi was able to determine that, fortunately, Maggie's vest was a faux-fur item offered by Louis Vuitton—not the collection of animal skins it appeared to be. Excellent—it would be a shame for the eco-friendly Maggie to make a public appearance in an eco-toxic dead skin!
You know what I love about this story? We weren't even the ones who started this whole thing—the photos of Maggie exploded all over the blogosphere, and everybody wanted to know if the fur was real or faux. We got a lot of calls and e-mails, too, from a lot of people who were all hoping that Maggie's outfit was faux.
It's really heartwarming to see just how many people react negatively when a celebrity is spotted in what appears to be fur. It really goes to show you that fur is dead in more ways than one—between the celebs who wear only faux fur and the stylists who have to resort to lying about the faux-ness of their fur, it looks like the Trollsens are the only hags who still think fur is a good idea.

I saw the pic and it looks horribly real to me.. but.. if they insist..
just hope what they say is the truth! nothign worse than wearing real fur AND lying about it..

Wearing real fur is disgusting.
Wearing faux fur is showing what real fur could look like.
C'mon, let's not even bother with faux fur either - why would you want to look like you were wearing fur anyway, even if it was fake ?
Real or fake, the one species that can pull the look off the best is the animal of who it belongs to.
Let's leave it to them eh?

That is real fur. The people from the eco-website read the description wrong. They thought it said faux fur. It says FOX fur. There's no way in hell LV would use fake fur.

I am the one that found it said "faux" on the LV website. I go to fur protests EVER WEEK and belive me....IT SAID FAUX.
LV changed the website, I'm sure of it.
But either way...yes...this seems to be real fur after all, and the fact that Maggie's people wont comment, also proly makes that a fact.

I agree that fake fur can be a real problem. Even worse is that some fabrics just look like wool, like fleece (from recycled soda bottles) or cotton.
If I see a celeb wearing fur, they go on my s*** list and I won't support them, and I will support a boycott of their films. But what if they are just wearing fake fur?
Maybe it's time that fake fur went out of fashion as well.

If we all took your genius advice and stopped worry about "this stuff" and just worried about ourselves it would be a very selfish world with no one to speak out for the animals. Fortunately the people at Peta aren't as self centered and self absorbed as you and DO care.

I agree that even if it is fake, she shouldn't be wearing it. If she claims to support a cruelty free lifestyle, why give the impression that she is wearing real fur?

I have not seen the picture but she has always been eco-friendly and it would be a shame to see her in real fur. But it's great to hear that it was faux.

with the technology we have today- one would assume a clothing designer could make a faux fur jacket look very real. whatever. hopefully she wouldn't allow her rep's to lie about something like this and use her name.
it's one thing for a celeb to lie about who they are dating, but to make it seem like you have ethics and morals for animals and it be untrue is wrong.

As of right now the website clearly says FOX. It looks real and I think it is. GROSS, she seemed like a cool chick, but apparently she is as dumb as a box of rocks just like her brother. Its ridiculous to think that LV would change the website just to save a useless celebrity some bad press, then change it back a little while later...makes them look even more stupid than she looks in dead animal.

i don't know. it looks really real to me, and i have NEVER heard of louis vuitton making faux fur. to me, it seems like the company might have lied to get out of a bunch of boycotting negative media attention and stuff.
