PETA President Ingrid Newkirk's new book One Can Make a Difference is a collection of essays by some pretty awesome people—and one of my favorites is the wonderful Stella McCartney. You can't help but love Stella; she is not only a fabulous (and award-winning!) fashion designer but also a staunch opponent of fur and leather.

Even when asked to use animal skins in her clothing, Stella's always said no. In her essay, she writes, "I'm actually quite proud that I stuck to my decision never to touch the products of such outright cruelty." Right on, Stella! We're proud of you, too!

Another fantastic part of her essay is when she talks about this PETA fur exposé, which she narrated:

She sent copies to a bunch of designers who continue to use fur, but not all of them were willing to watch it. "Karl Lagerfeld, rather predictably, felt he needed to return the video to me!" Stella writes. "Dolce & Gabbana were disgracefully rude about it, too."

Why the lack of manners? Stella has one hypothesis: "I frankly don't think most designers have the balls to watch animals writhing and being slaughtered; they don't want to admit they're responsible for such suffering."

Well, Stella's got the cojones, so to speak—and for that, we adore her. And speaking of One Can Make a Difference, Ingrid launched the book last night in New York at an extremely successful book signing. Check out the fantastic turnout and click here to order your own copy:

Stella is great and so is her designs. Lagerfield is an old manorexic and need to be put out of business.

Lagerfeld and Dolce & Gabbana don't have the guts to watch the video because they don't want to upset their little dream worlds, where fur just magically appears at their studios sans suffering. They don't want to know, since they would then have to confront themselves and decide what kind of human they really are.

As always, kudos to Stella.

STELLA HAS CLASS AND IS AN ANGEL FOR ANIMALS. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS BECAUSE OF THE LOVE SHE HAS FOR FASHION & FOR ANIMALS.

largerfeld can't and wont' face the truth and reality.. he should come out of hiding from behind those dark shades he keeps wearing and face the reality of the fur trade that he so nauseatingly supports.. you're still in the pitch black dark Largefeld.. time to ditch those black dark shades.. see some light.. face reality..see what cruelty you are supporting.. he's in denial or frankly he just doesn't care about animal suffering.. he lives in a deluded and ignorant world of his own..

We can't forget that Stella's father is that wonderful animal lover, Paul McCartney. He taught her well about love for animals and not to use any animals to create her fashions. These designers who still use fur are just cruel, mean-spirited people who should suffer the same ways the animals they use for their fashions suffer.

Stella has a heart unlike most designers.

Hi am just so shocked that this sort of thing is still legal in this day and age.

Hunting has been been banned here in England, yet this kind of thing which is far worst still exists... I am blown away by the stupidity of the human race that anyone would want to wear this stuff.

Surely the majority of people who can afford these items of clothing are wealthy so no doubt well educated? No-one can use ignorance as an excuse - we all know where the fur has come from.

I just don't get it...

Lagerfeld is another ugly fur jerk who refuses to learn his lesson! He can be put into the same pot with Armani, Dolce Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli - disgusting, ugly and without any taste and feelings - baaaah!!!!!!

If those designers are going to use fur then they should have the balls to watch the video and be able to say, "Hey I'm comfortable with that." However, unless someone is a serial killer psychopath, I don't think anyone would be okay with the way fur is produced. It makes me sick. Who are these people working at these fur factories? How can they live with themselves?

Lagerfeld is a senile freak.

And Dolce & Gabbana design trash for trash.

No surprise about those lowlifes.
