Fur Protesters, Lettuce Ladies, PETA Asia-Pacific! Oh My!

Not to be outdone by PETA India, the folks over at PETA Asia-Pacific have certainly been busy lately—in the last week, they've had three tremendously successful demos!
First up, we have three activists in Seoul, Korea, who lay outside a fur store in "bloody" fur coats, caught in a steel-jaw trap. Calling attention to the cruel methods used to trap wild animals for fur, their message read: "Animals Suffer in Traps. This Is Fur."
A few days later in China, two of PETA Asia-Pacific's sexy Lettuce Ladies asked passersby in Guangzhou to "Turn Over a New Leaf—Go Vegetarian." As you can see from the pics below, they got a lot of attention! Not bad for the first PETA Asia-Pacific demo in China in five years, don't you think?
Most recently, Santa spread the joy of soy in Manila and Hong Kong, courtesy of PETA Asia-Pacific. In light of the much-reported melamine-tainted–milk scandal, which has killed at least four babies and sickened 53,000 others, jolly old Saint Nick is working with PETA Asia-Pacific to inform milk-drinkers that cow's milk is also loaded with cholesterol, fat, and other contaminants, including cow's blood and pus, pesticides, hormones, and antibiotics. Over time, these can be just as dangerous as melamine.
Kudos to our friends at PETA Asia-Pacific for the string of amazing demos. We can't wait to see what they'll do next!

YOU ROCK, CHINA! A BIG THANK YOU FROM TEXAS FOR HELPING THE ANIMALS. I'M SO GLAD THEY CAN DO THIS. THE PEOPLE IN THOSE COUNTRIES DON'T HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH THAT WE DO. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW BAD IT IS FOR THE ANIMALS. THIS ALSO SHOWS THAT THE PEOPLE IN THOSE COUNTRIES ARE GOING TO HELP THE VOICE-LESS ANIMALS THAT NEED OUR HELP. THIS IS GREAT!LETS KEEP THIS UP!

OH MY!!! I've always been a visual fan not saying the lettuce ladies are not visual but I love the first one it shows how trapped animals must feel without saying a word!! And I'm happy they brought up the fact that consuming milk can kill you you, literaly!! The men must have been going "nuts" over the ladies, it's been awhile hey guys!??

animal abuse and exploitation is a global issue (as we all know) so when I see pics like this of demos even mini ones.. in such far flung places as Korea, CHina, HK.. it's a nice reassuring thought or feeling that yes..the msg is getting out somehow somewhere even in places that you wouldn't normally think people 'cared about animals'.. and that yes.. anywhere in the world there ARE people DO care about the silent suffering and plight of animals..

PETA must be the religion of the world. I never think how animals suffered from the day they born until their milk, meat and skin are ready to consume until I came accross to "Which skin are you in". I salute all of you PETA workers and I will try my best to be one hell of activist.

Way to go being culturally insensitive yvonne.
Just because Asia isn't where you are doesn't mean it is "far flung." What upsets me about PETA is how much racism goes on against Asians. Believe it or not, a lot of Asians really do care about animals and we can see it here.

Being vegan myself i know the horrible treatment animals go through. i understand that PETA was trying to do great things but recently the activism has turned into shameful acts. dressing up beautiful women in leaf bras and skirts may attract people but it certainly is not going to make them think about the real issues. PETA needs to take a step back and realize that though their cause is good, they are going at it in every wrong way. It is like the Clash, when they had the opportunity to sell out. it then defeated the purpose of the music they stood for and that is when Joe Strummer dropped out. This is the same deal but instead of music it is the lives of billions of animals. please think about what you are actually saying to the public. Make them see why we are vegan and why we care, make it matter to them, then they will stick with it.

That 1st demo in Korea is stunning! I think it's Peta's best. If people can't or won't watch the graphic images of animals being tortured, this demo powerfully reveals the suffering behind fur.

I m very much surprised and sad how people can kill and even eat the pets. i salute PETA and all of its orkers lincked with for this nobel task. I will be pleased to be a part of every sort international activity against this cruelty.

I think the Lettuce Ladies are cute and get the message across. They just do it in a diffrent way. Some may think the blood that some of the demo's use is bad and some think the Lettuce Ladies is bad, we all can't agree on everything but we all do agree with helping animals and that is what it's all about. I think PETA has to do alot of diffrent things to get everyones attention on helping animals. And nothing is more sameful than animals being killed and abused.

I am not surprised that human skins and meat hasn't hit the market yet?(or has it?)
What's stopping us?
Is this all about money again? Damn it...
WE as human beings have to re-teach all our children respect. Respect the people, the animals & the world we live in... RESPECT = LOVE + survival for all.
