It looks like the Hamburglar might have moved on to a more serious crime.
hamburglar

Not only is eating meat unhealthy, it also might make you homicidal. Just ask Terrence J. Jones of Washington, D.C., who has been imprisoned for allegedly killing a woman after she refused to cook him a hamburger.

That's right—he allegedly killed a stranger for not making him a burger! Unbelievable!

PETA has written a letter to Jones' prison warden and asked him to provide Jones with only vegetarian meals (and even offered to help create meatless meal plans). We believe that it's the only way to stop more senseless killings for the sake of Terrence J. Jones' taste buds.

Not only will this stop the needless and cruel murder of animals, evidence from prisons that have switched inmates to vegetarian diets indicates that doing so might reduce violence among inmates too. Feeding inmates bean burritos instead of beef burgers could go a long way toward ending the cycle of violence. Plus vegetarian meals are cost-efficient and easy to prepare (for everyone, regardless of whether they're in prison).

So let's recap: A vegetarian diet saves humans, animals, time, and money. Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

It has LONG been known via INTENSE study and observation that meat eating leads to aggression.

Can you really ask what reason Pythagoras had for abstaining from flesh?

For my part I rather wonder both by what accident and in what state of soul or mind the first man did so, touched his mouth to gore and brought his lips to the flesh of a dead creature, he who set forth tables of dead, stale bodies and ventured to call food and nourishment the parts that had a little before bellowed and cried, moved and lived.

How could his eyes endure the slaughter when throats were slit and hides flayed and limbs torn from limb? How could his nose endure the stench? How was it that the pollution did not turn away his taste, which made contact with the sores of others and sucked juices and serums from mortal wounds?

How? but ONLY a savage.

I have always felt that the way we treat animals is a pretty good indicator of the compassion we are capable of for the human race.

Some MORE valuable quotes that EVERYONE should take heed...

"In their behavior toward creatures, all men are Nazis. Human beings see oppression vividly when they're the victims otherwise they victimize blindly and without a thought."

"Nothing more strongly arouses our disgust than cannibalism, yet we make the same impression on Buddhists and vegetarians, for we feed on babies, though not our own."

"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings we are STILL savages."

"For as long as men massacre animals they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain can NOT reap joy and love."

"To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal.
Yet thousands of animals are uselessly slaughtered every day without a shadow of remorse.
If any man were to refer to it he would be thought ridiculous and THAT is the UNPARDONABLE crime."

"As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields."

and LAST but NOT least

"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a Vegetarian Diet"
ALBERT EINSTEIN

It is my view that the vegetarian manner of living by its PURELY physical effect on the human temperament would MOST beneficially influence the LOT of mankind.

Copy them and use them in everything you do as we continue to educate the world!

Not too sound corny, but isn't what you said kinda like saying 'Guns kill people'?
I don't know...

Wow....thats all i have to say. I didn't know life was so meaningless...

Posted by: Kelsey | September 25, 2008 06:11 PM

I'm sure that it was his diet that made him a murderer, and had nothing to do with him.

Posted by: Kristin | September 25, 2008 06:21 PM

well i don't agree with this at all, meat eating unhealthy, eh. well let me tell you somethings about meat eating.
1. easy source of iron(i shouldn't have to tell you how important is for the body)2.mother's are encouraged to eat a small amount of red meat fat to support healthy brain function of their fetus.

Posted by: brenda | September 25, 2008 07:53 PM

man i think that is the right thing to do make him eat vegetarian meals and he must have been very hungery

Posted by: erica | September 25, 2008 10:20 PM

What person would do such a horrible deed! He should have watch meet your meat, maybe then he could feel some compassion for another life instead of only himself, & all life has meaning & that one is no better or worse than any other.

Posted by: Crystal | September 25, 2008 11:33 PM

Makes Sense~ Eating meat creates the illusion killing is alright if we benefit, his benefit being of course no stress from a wife who will not cook him a burger...

Posted by: Dolores Bardot | September 26, 2008 01:28 AM

Brenda,

Mothers are NOT encouraged to eat a "small amount of red meat fat to support healthy brain function of their fetus."

I went to the University of Iowa College of Medicine and am a Family Physician...what is your basis for making that statement?

Posted by: Derek, MD | September 26, 2008 10:46 AM

Not a very resourceful man. manifest greed, selfishness and irresponsible behavior knows no limits obviously. It's the pc american solution, callous retribution delivered for the smallest of imagined slights. This culture of unthinking violence can only cause harm, nothing good can come from it.

Are you refering that nothing good can come from America?

Posted by: Kurt K | September 26, 2008 01:09 PM

"Are you referring [to the fact] that nothing good can come from America?"

Do you mean america the prison-industrial "lock 'em up and throw away the key" complex or america the military-industrial war mongering complex and "capitalist" but leaderless corruptocracy? Please state your case, the distinction is critical.

That's exactly correct, should be as plain as the nose on your face. Only a uncritically minded classist apologist/stooge would timidly further such a meek and mild suggestion.

yeah it's sure convenient to hide behind your precious and cherished "run of the mill" illusions.

Posted by: vegancoin | September 26, 2008 04:37 PM

Shame on you PETA for being so insensitive. Couldn't you have given the poor woman condolences to her family before you try to further your anti-meat crusade? You can express your dislike of eating animals in a more pleasant manner.

"Are you refering [to the fact] that nothing good can come from America?"

You are twisting my words around a bit, but the point i made is quite clear. Yes absolutely. This culture of indifference, violence and apathy speaks for itself.

Being a brainwashed flunky and engaging in diffuse thinking is one thing, wanton and careless consumerist greed and wholesale pc apathy disguised as a carefree and successful lifestyle is another, but that's like having both eyes wide shut.

This isn't about a hamburger at all. It's about some punk not getting his way with people he didn't(?) know. Here's the article:

By Elissa Silverman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, September 23, 2008; Page B04

An 18-year-old Northeast Washington woman was fatally shot last week after she refused to cook a hamburger for her alleged assailant, according to sworn statements filed in court.

The victim's mother also refused to cook a burger before the killing occurred, according to the statement.

The affidavit was filed to support a request for an arrest warrant for Terrence J. Jones, 19, of the 3500 block of Jay Street NE, who was arrested Saturday in connection with the death of Tanganika Stanton.

Stanton and another woman were shot Thursday in the 4900 block of Grant Street NE. Jones has been charged with second-degree murder.

The affidavit filed by police said a witness gave this account:

Before the shooting, Stanton was in front of her house, talking to someone known as Terrance. Stanton was eating a hamburger. The visitor asked Stanton to make a hamburger for him.

"No," Stanton replied.

The visitor then went to Stanton's mother and said, "I asked your daughter to make me a burger."

The older woman also refused to cook one. "I don't cook food for people I don't know," she said.

The visitor became angry, made a call on his cellphone and left the area.

A second affidavit quotes another witness. According to that witness, Stanton said, "Mom, that boy's back and he's got a gun and he wants to talk to you." The witness said a "large volley of gunfire" was heard from the front of Stanton's house.

Police said they were called to the block about 5:30 p.m. and found Stanton with a bullet wound in the left shoulder. The front door of her house had been peppered with gunfire.

She was treated in a hospital emergency room but died of her wound, police said.

"I tried to respond vegancoin, but my post wasn't posted for some reason."

The original question was just a baiting response, a hollow academic regurgitation, there was no real need to respond. But feel free to show me what you think is so good about america and its pc blinkered citizenry, and i'll smash those ridiculous oversized myths to bits. In fact i was pointing out the obvious wrongs that exist in a society based on a culture of indifference, apathy and greed.

Posted by: vegancoin | September 30, 2008 06:12 PM

I guess my first question for you is do you live in the USA?

Posted by: Kurt K | October 1, 2008 12:43 PM

"I guess my first question for you is do you live in the USA?"

Another baiting and evasive response. My position is clear, there is nothing to debate. Give it a rest.

Posted by: vegancoin | October 6, 2008 06:51 PM

Vegancoin, vegancoin.
Why so shy. I just want to know if you live in the country that you can't seem to bash enough. That is all.
Have you ever read or listened to a person that disagrees with you?
All your rhetoric sounds like talking points you have memorized from a vast collection conspiracy books.
If you do live in this country, why don't you try looking at the liberties you do have compared to the rest of the world. I think you will realize that you live in a great country.
And if you can't see that, then I suggest you leave. Move elsewhere.

Posted by: Kurt K | October 7, 2008 09:51 AM

i repeat give it a rest, you have nothing insightful or relevant to add to this discussion. This blind patriotism schtick is for the witless and the religiously dullminded.

Posted by: vegancoin | October 7, 2008 02:36 PM

I'm trying to have a conversation with you, but you keep ducking my questions.
Blind patriotism? Hmmm....
What does the love for my country have to do with my religon?
Are one of the enlightened ones that are beyond religon? Or is this question to misleading?
You are the one that said "this culture of unthinking violence can only cause harm, nothing good can come from it."
That offended me and I want to know why you would say such things.

Posted by: Kurt K | October 7, 2008 04:09 PM

Simply put you haven't stated your case and seem fond of engaging in "poor me" one-dimensional style of debate. Like i said before the blind patriotic schtick is for one-dimensional non-thinking flunkies and social cowards.
