Gwyneth Paltrow
She may have won rave reviews for her role in Iron Man, but Gwyneth Paltrow is getting nothing but rotten tomatoes from animal lovers everywhere this week. Gwyneth recently put aside her scripts and picked up a few dead animal skins to model for the Tods fall collection, including a fur shawl.

PETA has written to Ms. Paltrow numerous times about the hideous cruelty on fur farms, including that animals are skinned alive and kept in tiny cages for so long that they exhibit stereotypical behaviors. However, it appears that she didn't get the memo.

Here's what PETA President Ingrid Newkirk had to say about Paltrow's latest hobby:

Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she flaunts the skins of once-beautiful animals. Promoting an industry that electrocutes animals, snaps their necks, and skins them alive is a shocking example to set for a young child. Apparently, Paltrow's beauty really is only skin deep.

Paltrow may like to live the glamorous life, but there is nothing glam about paying others to slaughter animals for your clothes.

Great article PETA. I love what Ingird Newkirk said about her.
She was pretty pathetic in Ironman too, just a pretty face to add to the movie.

Posted by: Aneliese | August 18, 2008 08:02 PM

She's revealing how truly miserable she is. How all the fame and fortune can't buy an ounce of integrity.

What a totally rediculous thing to do. How selfish and heartless. No excuse for that.

Posted by: Saucy | August 18, 2008 08:52 PM

Gwyneth Paltrow has been one of my favorite actresses since the movie Great Expectations ~ I always thought she had a deep heart along with great talent. I am honestly jaded that she could care less about the horrifying process that goes into making these clothes. I cannot believe that you have put these facts right in front of her face and she simply denies them or does not care. I for one will not be supporting any project or movie she is a part of in the future. She definitely just lost one fan here. I wish her a lot of love and to understand how she is supporting these horrible acts by purchasing and flaunting their goods.

Posted by: Kristin Stroebel | August 18, 2008 09:09 PM

Gwyneth Paltrow is a money-grubbing piece of garbage.

She is the typical UGLY AMERICAN, always spouting off about her politics but she is nothing but a cruel vacuous idiot.

Posted by: kelly | August 18, 2008 10:03 PM

BP ads, macrobiotic, vegan birthday parties?? Does she think conscientiousness and compassion are passing trends? I've lost all respect.

Posted by: Teri McCallum | August 18, 2008 10:42 PM

But I thought Gwyneth was rumored to be vegetarian? How can she be vegetarian and wear leather and fur?

Posted by: Antoine | August 19, 2008 12:32 AM

Wow.

I always thought Paltrow was a great actress and an intelligent person. Guess I was wrong.

Posted by: Canaduck | August 19, 2008 03:13 AM

Shocking. She obviously has no compassion and shows just how selfish she is.

Posted by: Leigh | August 19, 2008 03:37 AM

I will never watch any movies with her ever again and I will say that to everyone else too. BOYCOTT Paltrow!

Posted by: Laura | August 19, 2008 04:55 AM

I can't believe...Mrs Paltrow, please open your eyes...

Posted by: Katarina Palockova | August 19, 2008 05:47 AM

How horrible! I used to think that Paltrow was a beautiful and an icon for fashion. Now I see her for what she really is - someone who puts money above ethics. Her beauty really is skin deep, and she obviously lacks compassion for other living beings. Shame on you Paltrow!!!

Posted by: Elizabeth Tang | August 19, 2008 06:01 AM

I just e-mailed this designer's website, asking them to stop using real animal fur.

There's no telling how seriously they will take me, but it was better than doing nothing.

Posted by: Junko M | August 19, 2008 08:15 AM

and her husband was voted vegetarian of the year, right?

Posted by: dave | August 19, 2008 08:37 AM

I do hope she has a change of heart. Maybe she needs to actually see video of this horrific act to do so. Until she changes her heart, I will not support anymore movies with her in them.

Posted by: Tammy | August 19, 2008 08:40 AM

This doesn't make sense. She's married to Chris Martin from Coldplay, who happens to be a Vegetarian. I even met her one day and told her how great that was.

My assumption was that she was one too. I guess not.

I guess this means there will be a divorce in the near future. I couldn't imagine him wanting to stay with her because of this. I wouldn't.

Posted by: Eric Silberstein | August 19, 2008 09:06 AM

I would like to believe that Tod's designs are made with ecological fur.....
Does any one knows for sure if they are using real fur?
I refuse to believe that after all the vegan thing she will wear fur....

Posted by: Lux | August 19, 2008 09:13 AM

FYI "ecological fur" is just another euphemism for real fur. It does NOT mean that it's fake fur.

SHAME ON YOU GP! You are a heartless FUR HAG!!

Posted by: Christine | August 19, 2008 10:23 AM

She's heartless. I already new that.

Posted by: Dawn | August 19, 2008 11:27 AM

I'M SO SICK OF THESE ACTORS CLAIMING TO BE "GREEN" AND "ORGANIC" AND THEN TURN AROUND AND WEAR FUR. THIS IS DISGUSTING AND DESPICABLE! GWENETH WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS, WE WILL NOT FORGET!

Posted by: Dani | August 19, 2008 11:29 AM

I thought she was friends with Stella McCartney, as is Madonna...

Now both she and Madonna are running around wearing real fur?

And they are still pals with Stella?

I think Stella needs to tell them a little "what for" and set them straight...I just don't get these people.

For the record, I never liked GP anyway. Something about her always annoyed me. I think it is her regal "I am better than you" air... Now I like her even less...

Posted by: Tamara | August 19, 2008 11:29 AM

I have zero respect for those who have everything in life...money, family, a great career but *still* cannot stop wearing fur or making senseless, selfish choices.

These people do not know the concept of gratitude or giving back.

Ms. Paltrow....many of us have far less in life YET we have good values, respect life and live it. Just sickening. I won't see any movie with you in it.

Posted by: Soliel | August 19, 2008 12:26 PM

What a silly heartless woman. She made such an idiot of herself with her Oscar tears, try shedding some tears for the animals.
Hang your head in shame Mrs. Martin.

Posted by: Mary | August 19, 2008 01:41 PM

She is so obsessed with herself and her diets. After this fur incident, I will never watch her movies. I boycott her not because of her Lack of talent but because of her incompassion. I really hate her now.

Posted by: Roxanne | August 19, 2008 02:10 PM

is she really THAT IGNORANT?.. or that rotten to the core as in a rotten APPLE!! that she will and does support this hideous appalling cruel industry????? Gwyneth Paltrow you are way off my radar now as an acceptable human being ..
all time SHAAAAAme on you!!

Posted by: bet | August 19, 2008 03:26 PM

I think everyone is being so damn self righteous about anyone and anything that does something that someone doesn't like. So what...she had a picture taken with fur!! How does anyone know for a fact that it's real for one thing? GP could very well be for ethical treatment and could have said...no I'm not wearing real fur. How many of you have gotten the kind of money she has and has donated it to causes? Hmmmmm? There is always someone somewhere complaining about somebody. I feel horrible that animals are mistreated and left to die in horrible situations, but I also feel horrible that people always jump to conclusions about somebody that they only know in the PUBLIC EYE. Start donating all of your money to causes, become famous, and be scrutinized for everything you do, and see how many start complaining about you. Like I said earlier...how many of you have donated to causes like she has? Put up or shut up I say.

Posted by: Amy | August 19, 2008 03:30 PM

hey, gp.. get a feel for fur, stick your tongue in a wall socket.

Posted by: indycar01 | August 19, 2008 05:12 PM

I was disappointed to hear this as well...but you know, money matters to celebrities..the one's without souls anyways. She's a fake. And used to love her husband but FYI just read an article on him and he said that he is vegetarian but on photoshoots he really can't resist the bbq chicken...their both a bunch of phonies.

Posted by: Courtney | August 19, 2008 05:20 PM

I have always hated Gwyneth Paltrow. She is so pretentious.

Posted by: Siobhan M | August 19, 2008 05:56 PM

What a hypocrite.

I was thinking about finally going to see Ironman too.

Sorry Gwenyth, not anymore.

Posted by: Heather | August 19, 2008 06:20 PM

i'm shocked as well. never was a big fan of her but nonetheless, to think that at this day and age with all the facts and information sorrounding the atrocities of fur industry/farms that a public figure would still lend herself to such advertisement is appaling. worse is learning that her hubby is a vegetarian and her buddy Steall is anti fur and leather. yuk. i will boycott all her films. disgusting. absolutely outrageous.

Posted by: frank | August 19, 2008 06:58 PM

Amy--"So what...she had a picture taken with fur"--I think it matters a great deal to the animal who spent her entire life in a tiny cage only to be killed for the vanity and profits of others.

I believe compassion and understanding for people begins with compassion and understanding of animals.

Being a complete and caring individual does not come from pulling out your checkbook, it comes from empathizing with other beings, both human and animal.

Posted by: Kelley | August 19, 2008 07:21 PM

that is truly disappointing.
Gwyneth just provided proof that she is really just Paris Hilton with an acting career...

I will never watch SE7EN the same way again ever...now I'll enjoy the last 30 minutes of the movie :D

Posted by: Jane Doe | August 19, 2008 07:43 PM

Amy get a revelation darling, this is not about self-righteousness, it't about GOD RIGHTEOUSNESS. It's about love, and mercy, kindness, warm heartedness which apparently doesn't resonate with your cold soul. And lets here it for "responsibility" for those in the PUBLIC EYE. I could rip her eye balls for doin that. You care more about poor little gwynny, then an animal having it's skin ripped off for a fashion statement . Oh Good Lord save us from the celebrity suck ups like you.

And buy the way THE BIBLE says that if you give away everything that you have to the poor and you have not love in your heart you are nothing but a big noise.

Posted by: Saucy | August 19, 2008 08:39 PM

Like others, I am surprised and appalled that Gwyneth Paltrow is advertising fur. She presents herself as socially minded, but apparently that's as fake as her accent in "Shakespeare in Love."

I can only attribute her actions to greed, vanity, and heatlessness.

Surely she doesn't need the money from this endorsement.

And she need only think of her friend Stella McCartney to realize that wearing fur is OUT.

Perhaps the most disheartening part is that PETA has tried to educate Gywneth about the cruelty of fur, but she seems to not care.

I hope "Shallow Pal" gets all the negative publicity she deserves, since appearances matter most to her.

Posted by: Ro | August 19, 2008 08:49 PM

Tod's website is filled with leather (calf skin) shoes and bags--it's not just about fur. Even if it were to be the case that she sported faux fur--all veg**ns I know would be uncomfortable if we thought we weren't conveying such to those who may confused and try to imitate the look with animal products. Part of our responsibility is to educate. A previous contributor seems to believe that so long as you have enough money to donate to the cause you shouldn't be frowned upon for supporting the resale of animal's lives --I strongly disagree.

Posted by: Teri McCallum | August 19, 2008 10:54 PM

No wonder Brad Pitt dumped her.

I heard from the designer today, but only 5, 6 words. very simple.

Posted by: Junko M | August 19, 2008 11:10 PM

Gwyneth: I am absolutely horrified at your lack of respect for life. You TRULY ought to be ashamed of yourself! Life is a precious gift to be valued and respected, not to be worn on your body to look more beautiful. I used to respect you, but now you are nothing more than an animal killer!

Posted by: Melissa MacDonald | August 20, 2008 12:13 AM

I cannot believe that first off, she would be so cruel and evil as to do this. Second, I cannot believe that she would show her husband, who has stated in the past that he is vegan, such disrespect. I also find it hard to believe, bet, that she has donated any money to any cause other than her own selfish needs and wants. I have never heard or read about her donating money to any causes, visiting any war ravaged countries, or really doing anything other than sitting around, doing nothing. I also have to say, I loved Ironman, but thought she sucked in it. She had one good role, Shakespeare in Love, and the only reason she was good in it was because she had a good director, other than that, she is a crappy, uninspiring actress. Even that trashy New York from VH1 may have done a better job. I feel sorry for her children, having to be raise by someone so heartless and with no real depth or caring.

Posted by: Holly | August 20, 2008 01:22 AM

amy: everyone is up in arms about this because it is one of the cruelest industries on the face of this earht. just by not buying fur and not supporting anyone who does wear fur we are all doing something for the cause!!! we are all sending a message that this is not ok. oh and poor gwenyth being scrutinized and blah blah blah... if anything this should make her more wary of what she is willing to put her name to. and i believe that no celebrity should wear any kind of fur real or fake because it sends the wrong message.

i hate humans

Posted by: farah | August 20, 2008 12:09 PM

Amy

Many of us do give money to charities all the time. It's the percentage of income that counts not the amount.

If you are very wealthy and have 30 mil...giving a mil is nice but you don't feel it as much as someone who might give a 100 a month out of their real life salary.

I think people like her deserve more scrutinizing because they have so much yet, they can't even do the basics like not wear fur. That is why they get so much wrath. While us regular folk who have so much less would never think of doing that...and someone like her who has so much but cannot gather enough scruples to abstain..she deserves the heat.

Posted by: Soliel | August 20, 2008 01:19 PM

i cant believe she would do that it shows she has no morals, and doesnt really care about what happens to animals, not only is that sad its just down right disgusting

Posted by: notsonice | August 20, 2008 01:23 PM

I am thinking that a good way to protest selling fur at Tod's would be to set up demonstrations at their stores. They have several stores around the country: Bar Harbour, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Costa Mesa, Dallas, Honolulu, Las Vegas, and New York. Is a protest possible in front of a Tod's store inside a mall, or are there legal issues? I live near the Costa Mesa store in the South Coast Mall in Southern California. Can I be hooked up with people in my neighborhood who are interested in getting active on this issue?
Sincerely, Melissa MacDonald

someone stick his horrid human creature in a cage and throw away the key.. (for good) give her a taste of the suffering so many thousands and millions of animals endure on a daily basis of which she flaunts and models thier tortured skins and dead furs.. ugh.. GPaltrow.. quite nauseous just to think of you now.. a mediocre actress and now an even more mediocre human being .. who obviously puts animals on a different par to humans .. ie. be kind to humans and dote over her babies.. but when it comes to so many thousands and millions of animals suffering and tormented and tortured for the fur trade .. she evidently really doesnt' and couldnt' care less.. yet another one of those awful human creatures she is..

Posted by: gem | August 20, 2008 03:14 PM

I was never and still am not a fan of this "actress". She never impressed me and now she is even less impressive to me.Being that she is chummy with Madonna does not surprise me of her hideous actions!

Posted by: susan | August 20, 2008 07:41 PM

she's should be ashamed of herself- i was going to go see her husband in november- but i will no longer support coldplay. i was never fond of her anyway. i read once that she had a cell phone embellished with thousands of swarvoski crystals - so not only is she greedy with gross displays of wealth but she's cruel too- what a terrible human being.

Posted by: melissa | August 20, 2008 08:55 PM

She is a piece of sh-t to not care about the torture on fur farms.

Maybe targetting the campaign against her to her husband would help?

Posted by: Skin GP | August 20, 2008 09:04 PM

We have a serious issue here! Today, I e-mailed Saks Fifthe Avenue and Tod's regarding their willingness to participate in perpetuating the fur farms by selling fur. Here is Saks response to me: Thank you for your recent communication. We sincerely respect the strong position you have shared with us regarding the fur merchandise in our store. We recognize that there is a great deal of controversy and emotion around the fur debate and we sincerely regret that our position on this matter has upset you.

We care about your comments and we appreciate that you have taken the time to share them with us. However, Saks Fifth Avenue strives to provide a wide array of merchandise that serves the tastes of our diverse customer base. We believe that it is the privilege of our clientele to make personal decisions in this matter.

We sincerely hope that you will allow us to be of assistance to you in the future. Again, thank you for taking time to provide us with your insights. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need further assistance. You are truly valued as a customer of Saks Fifth Avenue and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again soon.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Fran B. - Saks

So, we can see that we are up against people who only care about serving their cleintele amd money. I believe that if more people e-mail them regarding this issue, just maybe they will take a stand.

Sincerely,
Melissa MacDonald

Ro, that "Shallow Pal" comment was very clever. Good one!

Posted by: lynda downie | August 21, 2008 01:21 AM

For the longest time i looked up to Gwyen for her intelligence, compassion and grace, how can she let us down like this?

Posted by: Katie Onushko | August 21, 2008 04:48 AM

Please, she's just another celebrity trying to sell an image. Being green is "in" now, so she joined that club. It's not like it has anything to do with the truth. How about dog-friendly, Global Green supporting Orlando Bloom and his organic-food-promoting model girlfriend? The web is full of their pictures riding around on a huge motorcycle and their pet yorkie hanging out of her sidebag? I could scream whenever I see that. And they are just one example, the celebrity world is full of this attitude. As the saying goes "do as I say, don't do as I do".

hi melissa,
i emailed them too and got the same generic letter, even after i mentioned that i had already seen that email and what i thought of it. the good thing is that they have to return your email so everyone get on there and get into them!

Posted by: nicole | August 23, 2008 01:32 AM

Very disappointed. I guess she was (or is) a vegetarian for health reasons but not ethical reasons, or because it is the cool thing to be nowadays.
I hope Chris can talk some sense into her.
Her career is not what it used to be, maybe she needs the money to keep up her glamorous lifestyle. Still, no excuse!

Posted by: NT | August 23, 2008 07:06 PM

This is disappointing. Wearing fur is a pathetic statement to make in a world where our species is causing a mass-extinction. If she did it as her 'job' then it's even sillier, stars are allowed to stand behind their own ethics these days, I've seen it happen. Shame on her.

Posted by: stuntcat | August 28, 2008 04:48 PM

Didn't her husband just get voted Vegetarian of the year???
Shame on you Ms. Partlowe. You lost a fan here.

Posted by: Darlene | August 28, 2008 04:50 PM

SHAME ON GWYNETH. SHE ISN'T THAT STUPID. SURELY SHE KNOWS THAT TRYING TO LOOKING GOOD AT THE EXPENSE AND SUFFERING OF INNOCENT CREATURES ONLY MAKES YOU LOOK REALLY BAD. THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS ALL ABOUT BEING SUPERFICIAL AND SUPERCILIOUS ANYWAY, SO IT COMES AS NO SURPRISE THAT THOSE WHO ARE CONCERNED WITH THEIR APPEARANCES HAVE NO CONCERN FOR ANYTHING ELSE.

Posted by: THERESA S | August 28, 2008 04:50 PM

Gwyneth Paltrow, shame on you for being involved with furs, how could you?

Posted by: Margot Jordan | August 28, 2008 04:52 PM

Yes it was wrong for her to sport off that fur. And it's horrible what precious animals have to go through to get their fur, but come on! What's the point of insulting her beauty or her character!? Fine, send her a letter telling her how wrong she was or how wrong the industry is, but don't insult her. Don't call her a miserable or a piece of garbage. You only make yourselves look silly in the end.

Posted by: Erica | August 28, 2008 05:15 PM

Just for the record, Ms. P is *not* a veggie. She's quoted in a recent magazine (Vanity Fair, IIRC?) talking about how she likes nothing better than making "comfort food" like pot roast. On a celebrity news show, it was also mentioned that she's a big fan of organic turkey burgers. So no, definitely not a veg-grrl.

As for her shilling death, mutilation, and horrific suffering - I can't say I'm surprised. Very few Hollywood types strike me as compassionate, honest, real people - and she was certainly never on the list!

I, too, would love to know what hubby, Chris Martin, thinks of her disgusting display!

Posted by: Natalie | August 28, 2008 05:32 PM

WELL, I HAVEN'T UNDERSTOOD YET WHY... WHY SOME "RICH" PEOPLE MADE FUR A FASHION. IT'S A TOTAL LACK OF BRAINS AND FEELINGS IF YOU DON'T CARE THAT OTHER CREATURES SUFFER A TERRIBLE DEATH SO YOU CAN LIVE YOUR SHALLOW LIFE. SHAME ON GWYNETH AND ALL THOSE "STARS"!

Posted by: jessica | August 28, 2008 06:00 PM

Iam very disapointed to hear that now i see her in an ugly way, I guess beauty is not everything she is very ugly from the inside and i pray to God that she will wake up on day to realise what is doing is discusting and wrong,,SHAME SHAME ON HER.

Posted by: Eman Aoun | August 28, 2008 06:17 PM

I can not believe that she could do such a thing. I just hope that people don't think that fur is glamorous because of Paltrow wearing fur. Celebrities like Paltrow are not suitable role models for anyone and should not be treated as such.

Posted by: Jennifer Hansen | August 28, 2008 07:15 PM

I was disappointed to see that she is sporting a fur real or fake (as some folks speculated). Since it is an ad for Tods, I doubt that it's a fake fur. As someone who is a role model for so many young folks, she needs to reconsider. I suppose if folks had to actually watch their furs or food (meat) being prepared from scratch, there would be a whole lot more vegetarians in this world. It's easy to turn a blind eye when we don't have to witness the pathos of a situation.

Posted by: Brian | August 28, 2008 08:47 PM

What a letdown. I've always really admired her as an actress.

Posted by: Lauren | August 28, 2008 09:11 PM

I am deeply troubled by Gwenyth Paltrows actions by modelling fur. I became a vegetarian last Feb and looked up to Gwenyth and husband Chris Martin.

What happened? I thought she was an animal activist and a vegan. I have lost so much respect for her and am so disappointed...I just don't understand. What happened? Did she do it for money? I don't get it.

Posted by: Kelly Elias | August 28, 2008 10:44 PM

The main thing here is that animal lovers are aware of where fur comes from - an animal who has gone through mentally and emotionally damaging situations and then violent death at the end.

Conscious people do not act or support these industries by parading around in the end of the line product.

Posted by: Jessica | August 29, 2008 01:31 AM

Not the first time Paltrow was spotted wearing fur.

Posted by: Hilde | August 29, 2008 02:22 AM

awwww no! disappointed. VERY disappointed.

In response to a few opinions,
l beleieve peta will know if its real or fake fur, secondly
the majority of people who give their opinion opoposing animal cruelty will give cash to animal charities, most are peta members and donate regularly, so def put up and dont need to shut up.
l thought gwyneth paltrow was not only beautiful looking, but like her husband had morals, integrity and compassions for people and animals, how dissapointing to discover she`s just another appearance obcessed, money grabbing person-celeb,plastic.
l think madonna tried the trad english country pursuits with guy and her pals vinnie jones etc, re hunting and shooting, thankfully she was disturbed at seeing animals suffering and dying and gave up on it. Hope she can have a word with her pal gwyneth that the fur trade is even crueller than shooting, and implore her to opose it.
How can any decent person see animals suffer and die for any reason, let alone vanity, pleasure and greed.

i will not watch any movie with gwyneth paltrow again...they act like they don't know where fur comes from..i also boycott Jennifer Lopez, i will not buy anything with her name on it..she was asked not to wear fur...SHE STILL DOES..she also wears eye lashes made of fur..WHEN WILL THEY LEARN??

Posted by: francine rodriguez | August 29, 2008 02:58 PM

While I personally do not wear fur, I respect that people have the choice. My 14yr old daughter has just become a vegetarian (I am not), I stand by her and support her choice but I told her to respect the fact that not everyone has her beliefs and while it is good to educate others you can't make everyone believe the way you do. Members of PETA I feel are sometimes too extreme and judgemental, it is still a free country. Keep to the educating and quit putting others down who don't do everything the way you like it.

Posted by: Kerry | August 29, 2008 03:10 PM

I am not surprised. Looking pretty is not equal to being pretty inside.
I used to consider Wynewth Paltrow someone worth seeing to in her films. Now I will NOT see any movie she is in. I know she will not miss me, but if lots of people do the same she will eventually notice that she is not as acknowledged as she was.

Well, I am not surprised to hear this. I have never been an admirer of this actress. She is lacking in taste and has no morals, and what's more, I've always thought she had a liar's face. She is trash and trashes the lives of innocent animals.

Posted by: Carla Haim | August 30, 2008 09:10 PM

There are those who commit atrocities and those who allow it. GP is supporting the torture of innocent creatures and I hope her children take her to task over this one day.

I am so shocked and disappointed, i've watch many movies of her, she's a great actress i can't say she suck acting but, i thought she had a lovely and great heart and i realised that she doesen't have nothing in that lonely and ugly soul. So why do you have to show the world that you are a good person when you are the biggest bitch? i can't believe it.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Disappointing.

She is the sadly typical stupid girl who cares about her career and her image and surely about other people but don't care a damn about the animals nor the rest of the world!

I'm not suprised by this. GP always seemed alittle self rightous to me. Says alot about her true self image. I bet you'd NEVER see Charlize Theron in a fur. But then again, there's really no comparison is there? I never cared much for GP, but now I can assure you, I will boycott anything she does!! And to those of you addressing the question of "what if it's not real fur" does it really matter, it's sending a horrible message anyway. Many designers have been called to the carpet because they claim it's not real fur, but in actuality, it is!!

We have to remember there's a difference between vegetarians & vegans & people who simply follow a vegan diet & those who follow a vegan lifestyle. Stella uses silk & wool in her fashion line- definitely not vegan! Gwyneth's hubby is a vegetarian but I've never heard anything about him being vegan or an animal activist. And I think I remember reading something about Gwyneth saying she only eats free range chickens/eggs & we all know what a bunch of crap that is.
