Heeeeey, yoooou guuuys! I'm starting a new segment of The PETA Files, aptly called "Corey, How We Love Thee," where entries will be dedicated to the wonderfulness that is Corey Feldman. OK, so it isn't really going to be titled "Corey, How We Love Thee," and there isn't even going to be a section devoted entirely to the master actor, musician, and activist. I may have slightly exaggerated.

But it is true that here at PETA, we love the actor known for his smart-mouthed roles in the 1980s and, better yet, his huge heart for animals! Not only did he star in classics like The Goonies, Stand by Me, The Lost Boys, and The 'burbs, now he and gorgeous wife and Playboy model Susie are also starring in PETA's new "Give Peas a Chance" ad, encouraging everyone to go vegetarian.

corey_and_susie_feldman.jpg

Quite the stunner, isn't it? If you're thinking the ad looks familiar, you'd be right. It's based on the iconic "Give Peace a Chance" image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. You can't get more rock 'n' roll than that.

Here's what Corey had to say:

Susie and I choose the vegetarian way of life because for us, there really is no other choice. We must evolve as a race and as a planet, and evolution includes learning and changing from our mistakes. We will never truly grow until we as a whole come to the realization that all beings on this Earth should be treated with love and respect.

The Feldmans have been doing good stuff for animals for a long time. Ask KFC campaigner Nicole Matthews, who has been to their home for some chitchat of the animal activist kind. The whole thing unfolded in an episode of last season's The Two Coreys—a reality show that is actually devoted to him. It was quite the riveting hour of television.

Still, though, I have to say that my favorite Corey Feldman masterpiece (and possibly the greatest movie of all time) is hands down The Goonies! What's yours? Comment below to let us know!

And while his treasure-chasing, vampire-hunting, neighborhood-spying days are over, there are lots of animals to be saved, and we love working with Corey on our side!

Unlike the other Corey, Corey Feldman does seem to be expanding his horizons and caring about something other than himself.

His beautiful wife is a good influence too I bet.

Anything other than "Friday the 13th Part IV: the Final Chapter" (which was even worse than "Friday the 13th Part IX: the Final Friday." Part X was the only one worth seeing other than the original).

"Susie and I choose the vegetarian way of life because for us, there really is no other choice. We must evolve as a race and as a planet, and evolution includes learning and changing from our mistakes. We will never truly grow until we as a whole come to the realization that all beings on this Earth should be treated with love and respect."

So why are you encouraging others to continue to treat animals without love and respect by violating their rights and participating in abhorrent cruelty and suffering through vegetarianism?

There IS another choice: veganism.

PETA and other welfare advocates pretending "going vegetarian" is some kind of a bold stand for the animals is kind of like pretending that a mugger using a knife instead of a gun is taking an admirable step in the right direction. It's still wrong. It's less wrong, sure, but that doesn't make it right.

Just ad an "-an" to that coy "go veg" nonsense and put some sincerity behind the genuinely admirable claim that "animals are not ours to abuse in any way." Mean what you say, don't shy away.

Posted by: Ryan | July 16, 2008 11:13 AM

Lost Boys!! Looking good Corey!! And your wife is not bad herself!! Having the acoustic guitar thing happenin' with a sexy twist, "Give peas a chance", lol!! Well done guys!!

Posted by: Carla | July 16, 2008 12:43 PM

For me, Mr. Feldman is--and always shall be--the voice of Donatello from the first and third "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies. Go, Corey!

Posted by: Julian C. | July 16, 2008 05:09 PM

one. i think this ad is a stroke of genius(obviously,it doesn't take a whole lot to excite me.)

two. lost boys. lost boys wins over anything.

He was amazing in Stand By Me!

Posted by: ruth mansfield | July 16, 2008 08:33 PM

Feldman being compared to John Lennon in ANY way, shape or form makes me want to gag. Sorry, love the message, hate the portrayal.

Posted by: Stevie Z | July 17, 2008 11:40 AM

stand by me

amazingly maturity level in all characters but corey the most, stood out from the bunch and you knew hed be around for a long time to come

Posted by: dave baker | July 17, 2008 04:12 PM

I watched Goonies a million times when I was a kid. Stand By Me was also my favorite. I used to have pictures of Corey up all over my wall from Teen Magazines ...lol Man, I loved the 80s!

Posted by: Jen | July 17, 2008 04:26 PM

For me... Definitely "License to drive"!!! Ha! I loved them both in that movie! :D

Posted by: Monica | July 17, 2008 04:31 PM

I agree, John Lennon was and still is such an ICON, it saddens me that Corey Feldman would try and portray his ideas.

Bad Choice in actors, to say the least.

No Corey movie is good to post.

Posted by: DoubleD | July 17, 2008 04:48 PM

Gosh... Goonies, stand by me, and the lost boys, the burbs, gremlins were all great movies... I think that they were all classics for the time... He was a great actor in a time when great movies were coming out and he added to them alot... But he was good at playing weird little kids!!!

Posted by: cristen | July 17, 2008 04:51 PM

Stand by Me!! Way to go fellow Vancouverrite!!!!!!

Posted by: Paul Thandi | July 17, 2008 04:58 PM

Dream a Little Dream and Rock N Roll Highschool Forever were my favorites. Corey Feldman does the sexiest Michael Jackson impression I've ever seen.

Posted by: Laura | July 17, 2008 05:08 PM

Yeah Cory!!! Stand By Me and The Lost Boys are my faves. He is too sweet and too cute!!!

Posted by: Laura | July 17, 2008 05:09 PM

Obviously, Stand By Me.

Teddy is my favorite character too.

Posted by: Tess Moore | July 17, 2008 05:10 PM

Who cares about the two Corey's!? Their success was short lived...not a whole lot of talent and now this so called "comeback reality show"...the show is horrible! Susie is gorgeous ...all boobs, no brains... If she was REALLY smart, she'd get herself of TV and take both Corey's with her!

Posted by: Carrie | July 17, 2008 05:15 PM

I am wondering if the spread and pillows are full of goose feathers.

Posted by: Erika | July 17, 2008 05:17 PM

I think it's brilliant that Corey and Susie are speaking up for the animals - they are a fantastic example of how you can be happy, healthy and sexy living a veg lifestyle.

However, I do have to agree that going vegan is the ultimate goal in living a compassionate life through our diet and lifestyle.

The egg and dairy industries are every bit as horrific as the meat industries and the incredibly cruel veal industry would not exist without the dairy industry supplying the veal calves. Eschewing beef while wearing leather trousers or shoes is contradictory and confusing.

It's my hope that Corey and Susie will take the next step in compassionate living soon and go vegan. In the meantime, thanks again for speaking up for the animals!

Posted by: Bridget | July 17, 2008 05:18 PM

Corey isn't vegan, he not only eats meat on that VH1 show. I see him often in Atlanta eating everything from beef from fish sushi!

Posted by: dilemma | July 17, 2008 05:20 PM

First. I think that what Corey and Susie are doing is great. Second, I think that we all must start somewhere and goin veg' is a great start. How dare you critize someone for being a vegatarian. I mean thats one more person caring about our animals.

I absolutely loved Dream a Little Dream. I have always been a Haim fan but I give props to Feldman for growing up and being a dedicated husband and father. What a great role model.

Posted by: Fara | July 17, 2008 05:28 PM

You ask anyone that knows me what my favorite movie of all time is and they will tell you "The Goonies" and not because of Corey though I can quote him line for line too. I just love the movie and ALL of the characters, even the deleted octopus has a place in my heart.

I think it great that anyone, even CF has found meaning in his life and has chosen this path.

Big SMILES :)

Posted by: Kelley | July 17, 2008 05:28 PM

I love the show Two Coreys. And it's obvious from the show and now the PETA ad that there really is only One Corey..at least a Compassionate Corey...Feldman rocks!!!

Nice article and photo. I hope Corey Haim gets his act together. He needs alot of help and the drugs have done alot of damage. He needs a spiritual awakening to save himself .
He needs to step back and appreciate what he has and not throw it away due to insecurities and realize life is short. Straighten up and live it!

Corey and Susie look great! I love the Lost Boys and I have been fowlling the 2 Coreys and I know you are in the process of making Lost Boys 2 if The other Corey and get off the dope and stop using excuses. Definitely "The lost boys."

So happy to see a famous actor taking a public stand for animals. Thank you bunches. Now I love you guys even more!!!

Posted by: animal loving ice_empress | July 17, 2008 07:00 PM

I have seen every movie that Corey was in and loved them all. I must say, the Goonies is an all time favorite, though. Although, The Two Coreys ranks right up there at the top. Corey has never been so HOT as he is now. His love, respect and overall attitude for Susie, animals, friends and life in general makes him that much HOTTER! I'm crazy about Susie too. I think she is great. The love they have inspires me. As a matter of fact they are the reason I came to the PETA website. I have always been a semi vegetarian, due to just not liking meat and knowing which animal each food I was served came from. It was after that episode of The Two Coreys that I took an interest in becoming an active vegetarian. I try to see what Corey and Susie are doing about it when I can. I think that what they stand for is great, as I do the PETA organization. Have a nice day!

Posted by: Jaime | July 17, 2008 07:01 PM

I remember Corey in Stand By Me, with the best River Phoenix, who was one of the first important faces in Peta, is good to see that his influence to serve to other people can believe in this cause...i didit too!

Lost Boys &
License to Drive
Ummm....no one remembers LtD?

"Give Peas a Chance" spot on-Brilliant! Why PETA? I see that Susie is all PETA-what about those of us who are for other animal causes that aren't so drastic?
I'm not turned off by F's belief's,just doubt that they are his. I feel that me supporting the Humaine Society, is "uncool" in "there" eyes...

When there are catastrofies in this country & the government doesn't care about pets The HSUS steps in and finds homes for pets.

Kinda the same with H! He is struggling to find his way-making amends, finding his true self-not taking on his girlfriend's belief's as strong as PETA
We are a religious society-Free to choose!
I agree animals should not be mistreated- but even Jesus at meat.
Just MPV, but I'm not promoting a show or trying to jump start my career....

The 2 Corey's were a huge part of my life- I'm 35- I am so thankful for the new show on A&E-but I always struggle to find it....HEY! How about promoting it more

Don't give up! Your true fans are just catching on-we're old & involved in our own lives....

Don't turn them off by being so against s/thing-
your fans live in the real world and are well underpaid and can't afford a veagan lifestye!

What Stevie Z and Ryan said. And he's not vegan but a vegetarian, that's not good. i bet that guitar in his hands is nothing but a prop as well. The bed in for peace in Montreal was performance art, this unfortunate ad doesn't seem to be on the same page. Sorry Peta i just can't get excited over such disingenuous displays of shallow materialism and non-stop greed. John was a man of peace and was brutally honest and was never one to mince words only to appease the public, he had the courage to state his convictions when others just didn't know what to say, and was never afraid of what others would think. His songs are a living testament to world peace and universal harmony, his songs about peace and love should be enjoyed by all. Everyone should visit Yoko's Imagine Peace site in case you have forgotten what the real John Lennon actually stood for.

I love the message and I think "give peas a chance" sounds totally cute... but I can't help but agree with Stevie Z. No offense, Corey. You're a great actor and have made some fine movies, but when it comes to rock n' roll, John Lennon you are not.

Go VEGAN! You aren't respecting animals when you still exploit them by only being vegetarian.

Not sure how Corey could be compared to Lennon...nice try but never in a million years.

Appreciating the effort..just try and put more in.

A “master” actor? Hmm… I dunno. When I think of a master actor I think of people like, Brando, Bogart and Sinatra (to name a few). Although I adore Feldman’s movies and have enjoyed myself while watching them, I would not consider him a master at the art just yet. Give him a few more years (wink ;->).
With that being said, I am very encouraged by his and wife, Susie’s, choice to go vegetarian. I know that they have been for a while now and it's great. My family and I have been vegetarians for years and it’s the best thing we've ever done for ourselves. It's an incredibly noble cause. Saving animals from pain and suffering is one cause very close to my heart and one step closer to making the world a better place to live together. I am happy to see it's close to their hearts as well. We need more people like them to inspire others to change their way of eating and save innocent animals from a horrible existence and an even worse fate.
My favorite movie of Corey’s is Stand by Me. I’ve loved most of his movies but the character, Teddy, in Stand by Me was perfect for him. Of course, I also very much liked the Lost Boys and the Goonies. If and when Lost Boys 2 comes out I will be first in line to see it. On a side note, I want to say briefly that I absolutely love the show The Two Corey’s. I TiVo it each week. I love both Feldman and Haim. Poor Haim, he's going to be ok though. I just know it. They are both good guys. But as far as Feldman is concerned, I feel like I’ve gotten the chance to watch him grow up in his films and now he is a mature, responsible husband, father and friend. That was fun to do. He went from this shy, gawky, pudgy faced kid to what he has become today. What a great transformation! Thanks Corey and Susie, you guys done us proud! Keep up the good work folks!!

This a very clever ad. They both made it look great. I also think that people who have posted comments on this page are too anal. Who are they to judge what anybody does? Can you say "self-righteous". Even helping in a small way to save just one animal is a huge contribution. Get over yourselves and realize that any help is good help.

I love the Goonies, Stand by Me, Dream a little Dream, and Lost Boys. Truth be told though, I like Corey Haim a lot better.

I like him in The Burbs the best. Also I think this is really cool as converting to a vegetarian diet is the first step in the right direction.

First: I've been vegetarian for almost 21 years, vegan for the last 12. I'm glad Corey & Susie are at least vegetarian; maybe they don't realize that being ovo-lacto still causes animal suffering?

Second: The Goonies, for sure! But I also love Stand By Me, which brings me to my 3rd point.

Third: PETA, you should get in touch with Wil Wheaton, who was in Stand By Me with Corey. I don't know about the rest of Wil's family, but Wil himself is vegetarian. I have a feeling he might think PETA is too "radical," but then again, he might not. You'd have to ask him. You can get in touch with him through wilwheaton dot typepad dot com. Just a suggestion!

Im happy to see corey and his wife are two peaple we can add to the list of descent people in this world . Its so easy to get swept up in all the money and fame and be self absorbed. My fav movie is Lost Boys. Also because the "other" Corey is in it. I believe he is a great person deep down. He just hasnt had the right influences yet. He will find peace one day.

GOOD GOD! Corey is not trying to be John Lennon. It is simply a picture promoting peace for animals by eating peas, not meat. Stop being so anal! I'm sure Lennon would not have a problem with this ad. I think it is very creative and it rocks! Good job Corey and Susie.

Posted by: Butterfly Beausoleil | July 19, 2008 08:31 AM

I have to say any movie Corey is in we will watch, We would like to see him make a big come back, he certainly has the talent.
Love the Peta ad and I would like to comment on Judith's comment pertaining to money and going veg. you don't need to be rolling in money to go veg. just omit the unhealthy items from ur shopping list and if u really try u will find it's much easier than u believe. speaking from experience. It works.
Take Care and God Bless,

Posted by: pamela | July 19, 2008 01:08 PM

Would some of you lighten up??!!! Any baby step for the animals is a good step, and as I recall Lennon wasn't a saint. He was a drugged out musician who wrote some beautiful songs. Corey is a musician, the ad is witty, and who cares what all you pessimistic, pompous, pseudo-intellectuals have to say. Can't we just take a small win for the animals as what it is.
Lost Boys!!!!!!!
P.S. I've been a vegetarian for 24 years. So I'm human and eat a slice of pizza once and a while. How long have you been a vegan?

Posted by: dawn | July 19, 2008 02:33 PM

I have been a vegetarian since I was 14, I am 27 now, so I think the add is done nicely and I really like Corey and Susie, nice way to help support PETA and be role models for others.
My husband and I are fans of "The Two Coreys", and for those of you who havent watched it yet, or actually just in general, dont critize Corey Heim, we all live our own lives and he seems to honestly be trying to be happy with himself, who are you to judge?
Anyway remember Feldman and Heim do exist without one another, and there is no need to compare the two:)

Definitely The Lost Boys is my favorite Corey Feldman movie of all time.

Posted by: Kristy | July 21, 2008 02:13 AM

Criticizing anyone for only being vegetarian instead of being vegan is one of the best ways to turn people off from your cause. Don't you understand that not everyone can make that big a change all at once? Taking the first step towards compassionate living should be commended, not condemned. I've been a vegetarian for over 17 years and I'm cutting back on eggs and dairy but where I live, there are fewer vegan options so it's not easy to cut everything out completely. I respect anyone who is vegan and hope that I will get there eventually as well. The world isn't going to change overnight. If you think that you can win people over by comments like this, you're sadly mistaken. If anything you put them on the defensive and they won't even listen to the facts that you can present to them. Educating people will help them to start to look at their food differently but if not done right, you're giving other animal rights activists a bad name and make the person you’re trying to educate see all animal rights people as “radical nuts.” Lighten up or you're doing more harm than good!

Posted by: Michelle | July 21, 2008 10:57 AM

I agree, Michelle. Even being nasty to meat eaters - how will that change their behavior? Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that it will cause them to simply seek out other meat eaters to affirm their long-held beliefs.

Changing attitudes and lifestyles is an art form - unless people are just planning to burn down the houses of meat eaters.

I'll be honest, I was not a fan of Feldman's, but this ad is really impressive. I don't think he is mocking Lennon at all, he is showing respect. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

The ad was cute and fun, not even judgemental or offensive in any way. That's how it should be.

Before we judge him, let's look at what other actors were doing for fun while Corey took the time to make this PSA for PETA.

Other actors: schmoozing in Hollywood, buying fur, drinking booze, kissing up to the media, swimming in luxury pools, spending money, going to parties, buying thier fifth home.

All that while Feldman did this ad for a good cause. Well, I know where my financial artistic support will go to from now on.

Bless you, Corey and family!

I believe that all his moves are good. I really do not have a favorite.
He is a good actor and has a nice singing voice. He seems to put all his love in everything that he does.

No cause here just commonsense. The real "turn off" is when people don't live a compassionate lifestyle, refuse to acknowledge anthropocentric and profit-motivated sadistic animal suffering, religiously close their eyes to the truth, accept the lies of the Mass Media at face value, refuse to see the errors in their ways, and refuse to make a living a cruelty free lifestyle a priority in their lives.

I think stand by me and Goonies- 2 classics- I own them both and watch them with my kids-they love them. If you can watch a classic now and your kids love them it just goes to show what good flicks they are. Honestly how many kids are going to watch a old flick and like it. Love what corey and susie are doing(peta)I am with you both I cannot believe the stuff that happens to these poor animals.

Ok, sure, let's drag out the tired, boring rant that PETA is bad and evil and nasty for not promoting ideologically pure veganism...

I mean, really, why let facts get in the way of a good story?

Anyone who takes even a casual glance at PETA's various websites doesn't have to look very hard to find about 48 dozen encouragements to veganism; not lacto-vegetarianism, not lacto-ovo-vegetarianism, but veganism.

In advertising, they tend to err on the side of snark and use "go veg" as shorthand, but it doesn't take much work (none, really) to find all sorts of pro-vegan activism on PETA's part.

Criticizing them for a lack of ideological purity does NOTHING to actually aid animals; it's just gratifying to our own egos and promotes the idea that animal rights is just an abstracted theory. Find me an ideologically pure vegan organization that's DOING THE WORK and I'll support them, too. Right now, PETA's on the front lines while we sit here and debate theory.

I think the ad has been done in good faith and effective in supporting the cause of animal rights.
