this ad I think gives the wrong impression that all dogs if not neutered are so horny they will go and find anything to 'do it'.. it's a bit extreme I think.. I have a mini schnauzer. who's nearing 7.. and he's never.. ahem .. done that to anything or anyone.. he's as blase about procreating as it can get or be..
I think another maybe a bit more appropriate ad would be say a dog unneutured and surround it with about 50 unwatned puppies and a dog's shelter in the background. (puppies come into the world in batches of 6-8 dont' they?) and another one by it's side.. 'neutered'.. and jsut there by itself..
that woudl have gotten the msg just as well dont' you think?.. and hits on on what the issue is.. ie. unwanted dogs/puppies and crowded over populated dog shelters..

whatever works to stop the killing of healthy wonderful pets in our shelters...however, I have to say my rescued and spayed Cockapoo does this to ME. I don't think it's about procreating...rather for my dog she is just expressing her attachment. It goes on for about a second...I consider it like a "hug" from her.

Whilst I think neutering dogs and cats is necessary to control or reduce the problem of overcrowded shelters and the like, is it necessary to use coarse language? It's censored out, but honestly, it's obvious what it would say otherwise.
PETA should really use better methods to persuade. Using swearwords and sex to campaign for a cause isn't effective.

Doing nothing is not effective either, so what if PETA wants to use the shock factor. Sometimes it's the only thing that gets people's attention.

And Nikki, "cutting off balls" is better than letting that dog father countless puppies that end up getting euthanized or abused down the road.

This is so funny and though I hate the fact that we humans engineer so much order, I have to agree that spaying and neuturing is good for the ones that will not be born to suffer. However, that being said, it should be quite obvious to anyone that those who have the least to gain from the neuturing or spaying of their animals (use income from offspring to survive) will ignore all of this.

Sorry to burst your bubble Soliel, but its actually an act of dominance. You'll often see puppies or dogs in play humping each other and its the dominant dog on top.

This ad is abit too much. It should give out a better message to the people telling them that they should be in serious control of their animals whether they're neutered/spayed or not.

I am a meat eater and all that, but I support PETA, and this is one reason why.

Get your dog neutered.
My grandpa's cat is both an outside and inside cat (The cat can find ways to sneak out), and grandpa knew this, therefor he did the right thing and neutered him.
My grandfather also helped a mother to four kittens stay alive, sadly all four kittens died.
The mother, however, got spayed and lived her life amazingly.

if ALL dogs across the land were neutured. would this really make a difference to the amt or numbers of abandoned dogs in the shelters.. ?.. well it may or would decrease the number of newborn unwanted pups.. but people have to think long and real hard even if htey so much as contemplate the very thought of buying and owning a dog.. it's not for a few intriguing or fun weeks of the little pup's life.. or even a few intriguing years.. it is for the LIFETIME of the dog's life.. ie. 14-15 years approx in general.. that is the number of years they have to commit to dog ownership or guardian of this creature's life as well as provide all it's needs.. maybe an info pamphlet needs to be handed out to potential want to buy a dog .. 'to be dog owners' and give them a 'real wake up call' of what is really needed to take on a dog.. and to look after it for it for its entire life.. and no.. dumping is NOT an option!!!

Neutering a dog is not exactly "cutting off his balls." Sure, they may be in a little pain afterwards but it is a safe surgery. Spaying and neutering actually prevents many types of common cancer in pets. Do you think the dog even notices that his balls are gone? Dogs are cognitive animals, but don't breed for emotional reasons. They breed for survival, how ironic since most will end up in a shelter...

What is it with humans who continue to anthropomorphize dogs; and equate neutering a pet to a human male getting his balls whacked off. How lame.
Don't neuter your pet but it's ok to senselessly slaughter perfectly
healthy dogs and cats by the millions every year ; simply because there aren't enough homes. It goes on everyday, even though you close your eyes to it.

I suppose that PETA could do a gore ad but those never
do well, no one seems to want to look at the truth directly in the face.
"MASS GENOCIDE" of millions of innocent animals every year by stupid humans. How about that one?
And let's not forget that many states still cram healthy, young, animals into tiny gas chambers, and gas them to death; a senseless gruesome death. and why? simple because there are too many. Scared and frightened and then tortured to death, you should be bitching about that.

These dogs and cats, bunnies, etc. are here because we breed them; because so many people think puppies and kittens are, "Oh, so cute!" until they grow up and require care, patience, training and responsible ownership. Then they're carelessly tossed aside.
Since when is it not okay to create an ad that gets a few laughs and also bring attention to the critical issue of saving lives?

But I do agree that PETA doesn't need to use the F word, it seems a bit crass.

neuturing is making an incision in the 'sacs'.. and then removing the testicles themselves within.. (like little round eggs) to be v. specific..so I guess in effect it IS removing the balls ! then the sac incisions will be neatly sewn up.. I have seen this procedure more than several times as I have worked as a temp veterinary assistant!
