I wonder - has PETA pushed the idea to Jimmy Choo/ manolo blahnik/ etc about creating a line of faux exotic shoes? I know PETA targets the fashion industry about fur... but with the release of Sex & the City, fashion shoes are kind of a big thing right now.

...also... awesome protest setup :)

Making clothing out of a legally hunted animal is no more a crime than buying a cotton teeshirt at you local walmart. Pretty soon killing plants will become a crime, i mean come on, seriously ..... I understand how this group can criticize the unethical treament of animals, but the legal hunting and proper use of a hunted animal does not fall under an unethical category. NRA all the way.

Max,

Hello! :)

I don't think that we can assume the ad targets only legal hunting. It says "exotic" skins. The word "exotic" is open for interpretation, of course, but to many people that's tantamount to "rare", which is tantamount to "endangered".

Of course PETA is an animal rights group, not stricly an environmental group. But poached animals are often tortured, raised on cruel farms, etc. There is nothing humane about filthy cages or skinning animals alive.

The legally hunted animal is a slightly different debate, but when I hear "exotic" and "skinned", I tend to think of illegal markets in the tropics.

Peace. ;)

Max,

Legal and moral aren't necessarily the same thing.
