Every so often, there's a pro-animal story so darn cute that the webmasters of ICanHasCheezburger.com get jealous.

According to this piece in the Wrexham Leader, 11-year-old Gaby Trotter seems to have established more as an animal advocate than many adult activists can boast. She managed to research Mars' history of animal testing, set up her own Web site on the subject, and speak to school administrators about banning Mars products in her school.

I think at that age, I was busy playing video games, impressing friends and family members by eating frosted cupcakes in a single bite, and arguing with my sister. Way to raise the standard, Gaby!

Way to go, Gaby.

If Mars really wants to find a health benefit (cacao, etc.) to their products that they can brag about, they should be conducting research on humans. After all, this is the only species their products are marketed to.

Posted by: Annie | May 27, 2008 08:12 PM

i think that the only way to get rid of mars in schools is to stop selling food period.(JUNK FOOD IS WHAT I MEAN)the food just sits there and rots away and no one buys it. half the time the food is stale. DO NOT BUY MARS CANDY. MARS IS THE CRULIEST, NASTIEST AND TERRIFING CANDY OF THEM ALL. I HATE MARS . WHEN I AM OLDER MY KIDS WONT EVEN HAVE MARS (IF IT IS STILL SELLING) LETS HOPE NOT. NO MORE ANIMAL TESTING PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: molly grubb | November 18, 2008 07:34 AM

I think its wrong that Mars Candy tests their products on animals, i mean hello it us, humans, eating it not the animals! I think they should test their products on humans that are in prison on deathrow because their gonna die anyways, they deserve to die and get tourmented for the nasty things they have done to get them on deathrow.

Posted by: Tesla | November 22, 2008 09:54 PM

Mars also make's dogfood and catfood and and treats for the dog&cats

Posted by: Steve | January 5, 2009 04:14 AM

Posted by: mack | January 10, 2009 01:52 PM

Please can you tell us what mars products use animal testing. We would like it if you could contact Mars inc. about this and stop this altogether! I know lots of people who won't care if they use animal testing and will continue to use their products so together we can stop this cruelty!!! Thank you

Posted by: Kate | January 10, 2009 02:49 PM

i saw the mars animal testing video and i bawled my eyes out through the whole video! Now i do not use or eat anything that does'nt say no animal testing!!

Posted by: Amber | February 3, 2009 04:21 PM

Animal testing is wrong and supports no real truth when it comes to humans, mars candy needs to stop testing on animals... I will not buy another candy bar from them until they stop.

Posted by: miranda | February 7, 2009 04:37 PM

this is outrageous! i love mars candy!

Posted by: mat | February 16, 2009 04:19 PM

my friend, simron, and i are protesting against the Mars candy funding the experiments, and we are constantly getting new people trying to help us to protest. we also have one of teachers protesting. she has always let students buy candy from her, but now she's changed her purchases to other types of candy then what is evil.

Posted by: chelsea | February 18, 2009 07:46 PM

Well done Gaby. I just found out about the Mars factory funding for these tests. I think its horrible and disgusting and I am writing an email to my school principal asking for him to ban Mars products from our school canteen. I hope that the video on the MarsCandyKills.com will be shown at our assembly to help explain, if he does agree to ban these products.
