There’s a big heart in that big chest. In her first visit to the Nation’s Capital since becoming a U.S. citizen, Pamela Anderson made a personal appeal to the government on Friday to drag itself out of the dark ages as far as animal testing is concerned.

Pam (who also stuck around to lobby the guests alongside PETA VP Dan Mathews at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday) hand-delivered a PETA science report—the impetus for a recent front-page Washington Post story—condemning the failure of the Department of Health and Human Services to use sophisticated, non-animal test methods widely used in Europe, in place of decades-old, cruel and crude animal tests for toxicity. Asked about her decision to act as a courier on PETA’s behalf, she said, "Being a citizen excites me not just because I can vote, but because I can crack the whip on Capitol Hill to defend animals."

And she does it all with a smile. You rule, Pam.

I think animals should be able to be free . Not locked up in cages and getting injected with jags that arent necessary.!!

I was thrilled to watch Pam and Dan on CNN's Larry Kings show Friday night.
They were just wonderful.
I don't really pay any attention to celebs, but always love to hear about Paul Mc Cartney, Pamela and Bill Maher, who is both my husband and my favorite.
On almost every one of Bill's shows he brings up the Veggie issue. What will we do without him until he returns on Aug, 22?
Pamela is a very brave lady with a beautiful heart and a beautiful soul. I hope their visit to WDC made an impact.
Peace, to all animals!

Pamela is the animals hero! I met her when she was here in Ireland when i was promoting PETA's Irish anti-KFC campaign which you can check out on our website.

Well done Pam and keep at it, if only other celebrities done and acted just as much as you do.

Bravo Pam Anderson!
Thanks for using your beauty to draw attention to animals in labs.
What was up with the woman who ate the live scorpion? I hope the poor little thing got in at least one last good sting!
Fantastic article in the Washington Post. It seems I've read it before but it was well worth a re-read.

Way to go Pam. You are not only beautiful on the outside, but an angel inside. It's not surprising my hubby adores you.

Helping animals in laboratories is paramount; as are all animal injustices. I have sent out letters, about that Washington Post article to my MA Senators, and Congressman. I have already recieved a very positive response from Senator John

Kerry. They are definately listening to us. I have always admired Pamela Anderson for her tireless campaigning on behalf of all animals-celebrity, or not, she follows her heart. Kudos to Dan Mathews, as always, and since his name came up-Bill Maher is the coolest, and has done so much to help animals in every venue; we will look forward to his return in August.

Ms. Anderson is a wonderful asset to the U.S.--welcome and thank you for all you do for those without voices!

Pam has Hep C. For chronic hep C related hepatitis the current management is interferon. Interferon has been thoroughly tested on animal models to ensure safety for use in humans. I am not sure where her liver functions stand right now but it would be interesting to know if she would consent to treatment if her LFT's went up. The alternative is transplant surgery. Guess we'll see.
