Jack_Hanna_Exploits_Animals.jpg
Professional wildlife pimp Jack Hanna is at it again, this time in the last place you’d expect to find someone who professes to care about the well-being of animals—giving the keynote address for animal-experimentation industry shills, the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research. From their press release:

Hanna will take the stage for a fun-filled presentation highlighting his many adventures with a mix of DVD clips and inspirational stories about conservation, travel and wildlife. His program includes live animals such as panthers, snow leopards, porcupines, kangaroos and penguins. PSBR will present Jungle Jack Hanna with its “Community Service Award,” for his public support of humane animal based research and outspokenness regarding the positive nature of the field of biomedical research.

Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up: Jack Hanna, who’s made a career out of keeping animals confined and dragging them along with him on the talk-show circuit, is giving a “fun-filled” presentation about kangaroos and porcupines frolicking in the wild to a room full of people who professionally advocate for increased animal experimentation. Unbelievable.

Thanks to Genevieve H for the tip, and thanks to Jack Hanna for making my day that much more surreal.

Perfect.

Jack, is today Irony Clusterfuck Animal Abuse Day and I missed it??

I am personally offended that his name or face goes anywhere near the words "conservation" or "animal care".

I'm going to log off now before I say something offensive about him. I'm just really angry.

This guy represents the typical "old man" attitude of treating animals like products.

There is a real generation gap when it comes to animals.

Time for this guy to retire. To another planet.

I didn't think this moron could surprise me anymore than he already has.
But guess what? He has stooped to an even lower low.
This monster needs to disappear forever.

Poor little Ocelots!
Jack Hanna is revolting!

Is this some kind of late April Fools joke? You SERIOUSLY could not make this story up if you tried.

Posted by: Kelley | April 7, 2008 05:43 PM

Why doesn't PETA tell shows like the Larry King Show who has Jack Hanna on a lot about what he really is? And any other shows he may appear on. The less exposure he has on tv, the better for animals!

I personally cannot stand him. He needs to get out and rescue animals. He is all about himself.......

I just dropped Jack a little note. It was definatly not the most poliet email ever, but it felt really good! I just basically told him he's an animal abuser posing as a advocate, and that he's what's wrong with the world...and I hope he get's eaten by something:)

WTF?

Posted by: Cali | April 8, 2008 08:09 AM

Jack Hanna's support for animal experimentation really isn't surprising, given the way he treats wild animals as money-making tools. It least he's consistent in his hatred for animals.

Is there anyone we can write to about this?

Posted by: Lily | April 8, 2008 08:25 AM

Or should I say Servals?
Anyway It is pathetic to see him touring around on big programs like Larry King in his Khaki shirt. He obviously does not care about the animals he totes around and this is just too much irony. He treats them like toys for human pleasure and amusement.

Lily,

DAVID LETTERMAN. The two are practically married.

Humane? Animal research? Earth to Jack- there ain't no such thing, hon. Who does he think he is pretending to care about animals? Pretending to care is worse than not caring at all! This man is sending a bad message and I don't like it!

Posted by: Desiree | April 8, 2008 01:23 PM

What an effing tool!
I soo agree with your words Maya!

Posted by: HannaBanana | April 8, 2008 02:09 PM

;) Thanks HannaBannana!

Ugh, he makes my skin crawl!! He's proud of his ignorance, jumped all over Larry King to criticize Steve Irwin before he was barely cold in his grave (to promote himself), and mistreats his animals.

So perfect that he's kissing butt with the animal experimentors. A match made in heaven!

This guy is on Ellen all the freaking time.

sick!

TO the person who wanted to know why PETA does not people like Larry King about things like this--well, where is you head? Corporations and the government (same thing)run this country. Of course, we are not going to hear the truth on TV.

Jack Hanna is a really amazing guy and peta of all organizations should know that if nobody knows about wildlife or can sympathize with their pain how can anyone be moved to action. Think of them as the sacrificial lamb, literally.

I quietly hope that his vena superior artery is almost completely furred up.

Jack Hanna is an egomaniac..
He only uses animals to promote himself.
He does not display any actual affection or concern for the poor animals that he drags and parades onstage.
I stopped watching him a long time ago because it just made me sad and angry.
I admired Ellen and thought that she was sympathetic towards animals.. but apparently she never watches good old Jack in action..
He's just a fast-talkin' salesman...

I always thought of him as well intentioned at least- that he saw the animals as necessary ambassadors for those in the wild. But thanks for opening my eyes, Jack.

I know Jack and he has probably saved thousands of animals in the past 35 years, he cares about animals more than most you probably do. When he goes to a talk show he brings the animals from the closest zoo he can find and he does not use the same all the time, every once in a while he has to take some from Colmbus. I just wanted to let you know.

Mr. Hannah,

I need to be set free into a life of loving having financial freedoms and friends. I have recently written a poem good times under poetry.com and Elizabeth Estelle Baker. I need money through the government and to be a vegan , I love fruits and seeds I love animals and aquatic life. Your bird friends from Africa speaking to my homedics machine say they want some popeye's spinach by the way and they would carry you these messages. Though , I need help. I need someone to set me free with the animals around I have met. The zoos in Little Rock have small enclosures for their animals and I want money . Please I am asking for Congressman Boozman to be this kind to me on my social security check and let me have freedom . I need to explore. Governor Beebe I hope he approves of me having a surgery done by a professional such as Bill Gates if I can land him . Your birds tell me you know him and they love him so much.
