Leave it to music legend Sir Paul McCartney to launch one of PETA's best veggie testimonials yet!
"Many years ago, I was fishing, and as I was reeling in the poor fish, I realized, 'I am killing him—all for the passing pleasure it brings me.'" So says Sir Paul McCartney in his brand-new ad campaign for PETA. "And something inside me clicked," he continues. "I realized as I watched him fight for breath that his life was as important to him as mine is to me." The ad concludes, "I Am Paul McCartney, and I Am a Vegetarian."
Paul's new ad is also kicking off PETA's newest Web feature where fans can go to hear what their favorite stars have to say about kicking the meat habit. Check it out here!
Enjoy,
Christine <3

It's so true what he says about the fish and his relatively few moments of enjoyment versus the fish's struggle to stay alive...and it's like that Plutarch quote: "But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time it had been born into the world to enjoy."

This put a lump in my throat. Paul is so right.
I used to eat an awful lot of meat. But as I have become older, I am beginning to see just how revolting it is.
I love animals, and am working towards becoming fully vegetarian. Just got beef to eliminate now, which I hardly ever eat anyway, and I will soon be stacking up on things like Quorn! It's gorgeous!

Thank goodness you have chosen to use this thing called fame for a wonderful chance to speak out against the inhumane treatment of innocent animals. Vegeterian is the healthy and kind way to address our concerns for mankind as well as the beautiful animals! Good Show!

I love him so much! He and his late wife Linda are one of the reasons I became veggie. I had the honor of meeting him a few years back and he is so amazing and down to earth. I love this Web Campaign!! Great job PETA!

I became a veggie because of Paul and Linda. But the story he's been telling for YEARS is that Linda turned the family veggie, after making the connection between the lambs frolicking outside and the lamb on the dinner table. Where did THIS story come from? Can't believe he ever fished, anyway.

Such a beautiful man.
Linda is missed everyday.
She is always in my chants.
I am so outraged at what those bastards did to her grave, that I would love to get my hands on them.
They put dead animal parts
on her resting place.
They need to go away "forever", if you know what I mean.
If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.

Lianne, way to go! Sometimes it's hard to just give it all up at once (because we are raised to think that meat should always be part of a "proper" meal), but you can do it! Have you been to www.goveg.com yet? It's a GREAT resource for someone like you! Best of luck!
Ned Kelly, no one forced you to read this website so just go away!
Sir Paul, you ROCK! The launch of this new ad was published in one of my city's small, free daily newspapers! (in Ontario, Canada!)

Mary,
I believe Paul related the story of the lambs himself. In a flash of luminance, I think Paul and Linda connected the dots together.

Sir Paul is also speaking out against the next killing of kangaroos due in Australia ( I think about 500).

You rock Sir Paul, you rock.

I do not eat fish. Never liked it. They are souls...like us...they see us...your quote...from Plutark...is true. It makes sound judgment all around. Thanks for your words canaduck. It was inspiring.

Maravilhoso ter uma pessoa tão mundialmente conhecida dizendo coisas tão humanamente importantes sobre temas absolutamente urgentes como o fim do absurdo e ultrajante holocausto animal. Thank's dear Paul!
