OK, so we’re not exactly rushing to sign this guy up as the next PETA spokesperson, but he’s certainly got it right about
zoos. Joe Francis — the intellectual force behind the
Girls Gone Wild series — just got done serving time in prison after a contempt of court citation that occurred during a civil lawsuit brought against him by seven women who were underage when they were filmed for his videos. Apparently, being behind bars has given him a new perspective on the stress and misery of enforced confinement: In an interview with
The Sports Junkies (an inexplicably popular DC radio show devoted to professional sports and bathroom humor), Joe said that he will never look at zoos in the same way again, pointing out that “the animals don’t want to be there … it’s unnatural.”
Well, I guess we’ve got something in common, Joe. Actually, two things.

I agree, Jack. Joe may not be perfect, but who is? I'm proud of him for identifying with animals in zoos. All too often people don't make the connection between their suffering and that of other animals in similar situations.

Are you kidding. Let's make him out to be a hero? Just another reason why this world has officially gone crazy. Let's protect the donkeys and elephants and not our children from predators like this. Let's worry about hunting or fur and not stop the killing of unborn babies. And then offer B. Spears a job? That says it all.
PETA is a farse.

Smitty, please do try and read the posts before commenting. No one's calling anyone a hero here.
Thanks.

I agree with Smitty. PETA has given him the status of an animal defender - which in the world of PETA, is at the very least, the status of admirable celebrity.
One correct comment about zoos does not erase his real status as a pedophile predator.

Not an appropriate spokesperson says the group that has porn stars as spokes people. Your feigned morals sicken me.

lynda downie is right.
I think people who experence jail can relate to caged animals and should be a voice for the animals who suffer every day.
this Joe Francis does have a following who may listen to him and possibly boycott zoo's because of his experence.

As a PETA member it disgusts me that you give that pig Joe Francis any credit for anything! He exploits women and UNDERAGE GIRLS, thus the confinement behind bars! PETA you're great at what you do, but please, be more discriminating in whom you associate with and praise. Thank you.

Thanks alot for your comment, Holly.
I think we should build on the good people do, and give credit where it's due. Animals in zoos need a voice. Thankfully, Joe Francis has given them his.
