Well done, Mark—love your artistry and writing.
As Carla pointed, very sad nonetheless. Doreen is only one of about 200,000 downer cows a year in the U. S.

Great job Mark.
Absolutely heart breaking.
But I plan on show this to many people.
Since this happened our youngest daughter and her husband have went vegetarian.
That means my entire family are meat free. And they did this for the ethical reason.
So we are,
Vegetarians/aspiring vegans.

I hate to tell you this but this cartoon animation is incorrect. I know this because I grew up on a farm and know the rules and regulations that are imposed upon farmers. To go with that I know that farmers do every thing with in reason to take good care of their animals and keep them healthy because antibiotics are expensive. However if an animal is sick the farmer will treat the animal to get them feeling better. Just like when your sick you go to the doctor and they give you a prescription. Now if an animal has had antibiotics all of those have withdrawl periods. It is illegal to slaughter any animal for human food consumption until after that withdrawl period is over. As for those downer cows it is illegal for a downer cow to be slaughtered of human consumption.
