Alistair Currie, the Senior Research and Campaigns Coordinator for PETA UK has an amazing piece in The New Statesman this week about the ethics of animal experimentation. If you’ve got a few minutes, you should definitely check that bad boy out. For some reason, there’s also a poll on the page asking whether “24-hour drinking is bad for society,” but I don’t recommend voting on it. It’s not particularly fulfilling.
Anyway, you can read Alistair’s great piece here. Lemme know what you think.

Says it all really. But sadly you will always find detractors., who refuse to listen to positive argument..its far easier to stick your head in the sand : unless of course you were an experimental expenditure. '' The cost of everything the value of nothing.''

I was either slightly amused or horrified by the comments posted on that site about that article.
I admit I just skimmed the comments. But they seemed mostly about whether there is a guaranteed outcome of experiments.
The author, Alistair Currie, had written in the article that the guaranteed outcome was death for the animals.
That was the basis for those arguments.
I added my two cents there, and I will add the same two cents here.
The only guaranteed outcome is the animals suffer excruciating pain.
'Nuff said?

To think that these people have so much power over the animals in the labs make my knees weak, and my heart cry out for their freedom.
This is wrong, wrong, wrong.
The pain they must endure is nothing short of horrific.
This must come to an end.....

Fundamentally, vivisection is based on the idea that humans are worth more than any other living thing. This is very appealing to many human egos, however wrong the notion may be.

I get as angry and frustrated as the rest of you on this issue.,but while mega bucks are involved in the sphere of the Pharmaceutical Industry, the third largest* after armaments & automobile manufacturing (world wide*) and we vote egotistic corrupt politicians into power ( who promise much pre election) and then do not deliver! : personally I fear we will never see an end to this form of atrocity. Lest the Day Of Judgement strikes the earth., and allows several hundred million years to pass until the human species (may) evolve again.

An extremely well written and articulate argument. There is no justification for vivisection in this day and age and Mr. Currie pleads the case well.

That was an excellent essay. It should be read by all who continue to support the cruel and unjust waste of lives that is animal experimentation.
