It’s a new dawn, people. A fresh, vibrant world full of hope. The storm clouds have dispersed and the sun is shining on a happier future, where anything is possible…

On a trial basis, in the fine city of Philadelphia, 7-Eleven is offering vegan sandwiches.

To celebrate this glorious news, and to help make sure this trial is a big success, PETA dispatched our lovely lettuce ladies to the city last week to offer samples of the tasty meatless sandwiches (varieties include "chicken," "steak," and mock egg salad) to passersby. ‘Cuz that’s just how we roll. Check out the pics, and if you live in Philadelphia, be sure to give the sandwiches a try. Word on the street is that they’re pretty damn good.

Oh, brave new world that hath such people in it.

Hey fast food is fast food! Everyone wants a quick-to-go meal and seeing how they're using the name of the meats will only add to people purchasing the sandwiches not knowing and actually enjoying!

I am going to tell our 7-11 guy, a few miles away about this.
You won't know until you try.
And the day we stop trying will be a very sad day indeed.
I'm off.....
P.S.
The ladies are simply lovely.

Brilliant, we should bring these hotties to Ireland to help dish up veggie dogs to our legislators!

this is a great idea. finally 7-11 goes veggie. maybe this will mean less of those nasty beefy hotdogs on the heater with those rollers. cute lettuce outfits too. a bit skimpy. the models are kinda icky but GOOD CAUSE so i say GOOD JOB 7-11. too bad we don't have them in NYC. philly is ahead of the curve. i am jealous. i want a vegan sandwich now. yum.

Jeanie, your silly comments will not diminish this great news! The animals killed for food never had a choice - the ladies who are speaking up for animals are CHOOSING to be there.

I don't think there are any 7-11's where I live in Ontario, Canada so unfortunately I won't be able to try out these sandwiches, but it's great that the company is responding to a demand for cruelty-free food choices. Yay!

Thanks, Peace to You!! Loved the link.

I especially liked the non use of honey - apiaries raise bees that have killed off native bees, and now they are all being wiped out by mites (and possibly cell phones, but we're still not sure about that)

Any time a native species goes extinct because of an introduced species, it's a double tragedy in my eyes. Thank you for a sweet Valentine's idea!! ;)

(My boyfriend and I are celebrating this weekend because the week was so crazy - so this info comes at just the right time!!) ;)
