To celebrate the occasion, PETA India held a giant birthday bash in Mumbai, hosted by Ingrid Newkirk and some of India’s biggest stars. Happy Birthday, guys! Here are some of the pics that have been circulating the web (just in case you’re not keeping tabs on the Indian celebrity blogosphere already).

Ingrid is a fascinating, charismatic personality with the rare capacity to persuade great stars and artists for an important, good cause! Happy Birthday Peta India - you are my favorite!

Shallow question coming up:
Okay, can someone tell me who the guy on the left (black suit) is? OMG, soooo hot!
Posted by: VS | January 15, 2008 02:33 PM
jeez, how much does ingrid make?
to go around the world (so much for non-profit)
Posted by: Caboose | January 15, 2008 03:23 PM
Ingrid, the president of peta, makes $32,000 and makes peace.
The Pres. of the U.S. makes a bundle on tax money and makes war.
How much does Caboose make and for doing what?

Caboose,
I posted her salary before. PETA Prez Ingrid Newkirk drew 32K in 2005—not a whole heck of a lot. That's the latest I could find on the net.

Jim and Mike Quinoa, thank you both for addressing what seems to be a need that some have to put a negative spin on the good that Ingrid Newkirk does by diverting the discussion with falsehoods and gossip.

Jim
YOu dont have to be such a PETArd.
All i asked was how she can go around the world!

VS: this is John Abraham, a very famous indian actor and a great PETA supporter - he did many fascinating ads! He is a vegetarian and you can admire him in movies like 'Kaal' and 'Water'!

pablito, thanks for the info. I might just have to check out those movies. :)
For me, there's just nothing like a guy whose compassion extends to animals as well. Now that's what I call sexy!

Love your comments. Ingrid makes a paltry salary and accomplishes much all the while living a vegan non-violent lifestyle.
Bush has accomplished: the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, AETA, and other violent deeds with too much money ($400,000 ? salary).

caboose, if it's "business" related then that fare is covered by the organisation, from donations and fund raising.
Ingrid pens many books, and I haven't seen many dedications of "all proceeds" to Peta. I doubt she is struggling along on that salary alone.

I second the hotness factor for the guy on the left. Name and what he likes for jewelry, please. (JUST KIDDING!)
My best friend from grad school is going to do research in India and she talks about how the peaceful society that India used to be where animals were treated well is being replaced by industrialization and development.
Of course I've never been to India so please correct me if I'm wrong about that. However, I bet PETA India is a really good and holistic version of the American PETA and I'm looking forward to learning more.
I shall now go back to the nice "view". ;)
