This news pretty much made my day. According to Britain’s The Independent, Madrid’s state radio and television network has left bullfighting off of its “obligatory programming” list for the first time since it started showing the bloody spectacle back in the deezy. The pro-bullfighting lobby was quick to announce that this is no big deal and won’t affect the popularity of the blood sport. The following is a transcript of an imaginary conversation I just had with the pro-bullfighting lobby:
Pro-bullfighting lobby: “Whatever. This won’t affect the popularity of our event.”
Jack: “Yes, pro-bullfighting lobby, it will. When your country’s television station takes your event off the air, it actually is a big deal. Just look what happened to the XFL.”
Pro-bullfighting lobby: “What the hell is the XFL?”
Jack: "Exactly."

This year i shall have a really happy Christmas! PETA: Jack, Ingrid, Bruce Friedrich, Dan Mathews and all you heroes in PETA Head Quarter! Today i'm just distributing kisses! Thank you for this great moment! And many thousand thanks to the over 600 french and spanish celebrities fighting for this cause! Thank you ADA President Jorge Roos in Madrid - whom i know personally! Thank you Jean-Claude Van Damme, Renaud, Brigitte Bardot, Sophie Marceau, Johnny Halliday, Alain Delon, Arielle Dombasle, Linda Hardy, Yannick Noah, Guy Bedos - it's impossible to name you all - and all the spanish TV responsibles - this time we are victorious! I just remember when we demonstrated over 20 years ago for the first time in Barcelona - we were just 200! I said to Dr. Milly Schaer-Manzoli's husband that we are just a handfull and he answered me: the next year they shall be 2000! and like this it happened! and then came the sexy naked PETA-runners and many many celebs and today we have a victory! because: the end of tv broadcasting shall break the neck of the bullfighting-lobby and i'm sure that within short time the whole crime shall be completely abolished! HEUREKA!!!

Michele,
Good luck with Specious Science. As you might know, the Drs. Greek have a great website:
www.curedisease.com.
They also encourage you to freely use their materials in letters, debates or forums. You can find a great interview by Bob Linden with Dr. Ray Greek here:
http://www.goveganradio.com/veg/1003/Listen_to_Past_Shows.htm
(It's the Jan 16, 2005 podcast—2nd half of the show).
You've got to check out www.vernoncoleman.com (an anti-vivisector in the UK). He states that no vivisector in the UK will engage him in debate because he always wins.

The bullfights should go the way of the Inquisition---to the History books where we read about these abominations with disgust and shame!!!!

Is it not a wonderful feeling to watch humans evolve in such a great and humane way of thinking.
A big thank you to the Spanish Broadcasters.
You have won many hearts and much respect.

This is a great hour for animal protection and we are looking forward to a quick total abolition in Spain and the whole world - and thanks to everybody who participated!

I waited for this great hour all my life! How can a human being fall so deeply in finding pleasure in this horrible animal torture!

Excellent news! High time!
As Spain goes, so goes the "sport" of bullfighting.

I'm surprised that no one is condemning Spain.
